Nice collection of Sushi. This will be our go to place for Sushis from now on. Tried different types with the half of offer. Most of them were up to the mark. My SO tried the beef udon and it was perfect as well!
We went for the half priced sushi night. Sushi is always fantastic, the seaweed and squid salads were delicious. And my granddaughter had a noodle dish that was very good as well. Service is always friendly and very patient with the grandchildren.
Love this place... food is great! Mondays and Wednesdays sushi is half price (dine in only)! usually those days are very busy, so you'll have to wait a little bit outside, because the place is small, but it worth it!!! 😋🤤
I've been here for 3-4 times and satisfied with my food every single time. Food is always packed properly. We've probably tried 10 different things from the menu, and it is never a miss. Highly recommend here if you want to try some authentic Korean food!
Best Asian and sushi in Syracuse. Inside is dark and not very tidy but I'm not there to look at artwork.
My favorite place, absolutely delicious.
Best half off sushi spot in Syracuse! If you are looking for something else they have large savory meals as well. When friends come in from out of town they ask to go here.
Has a very traditional feel with both the food and the service. Their attentive without being pushy in any regards.. it's a place you want to go with a large group to enjoy your time sharing passing good food and Good times
Fantastic food for the value! Tuesday's half-off is worth the trip top this hidden Syracuse gem! Food and people are authentic too!
If you're a sushi lover!! Half off sushi on Mondays and Wednesdays, so of course I stopped by and ate some fresh various sushi rolls and a nice glass of plum wine...it was divine! It gets packed on these days, so sit at the bar if you're going solo like I did... you get to watch the awesome sushi chefs prepare rolls in front of you! I've heard great things about the other food options, and will be back to try those!
This was my first time going here. The atmosphere was very friendly and warm, the wait was kind of long, but they were busy getting many take out orders done. The food was excellent and in case you don't know, I love sushi. The price is amazing. It is 1/2 price sushi on Monday's and Wednesday's. I was very happy with e erything.
Atmosphere is a little dark and some of the benches are well worn in, but the sushi makes up for it. Taste is fresh and consistently good.
Absolutely fantastic Korean food. We ordered three dishes for two people and, at first I thought it was way too much. As soon as we started eating, though, I knew we’d finish it all. Take a look at the French-style Korean bakery next door - Tout Les Jours - it was a great place to get a small sweet treat after a sumptuous dinner.
My first real experience with sushi was from Secret Garden when I was in college. Prior to that I was one of those people that could not understand why people liked it. Since then I've been to many places locally as well as nationally and internationally but I've never come across a place that has been so consistent with the quality and freshness of their sushi. The staff is always friendly, the restaurant clean and when you ask for sauce they give you sauce! Thank you for providing great food and service.
This shouldn't be a secret! Very large, thorough menu, both Japanese and Korean. The Korean dishes were legit, and fantastic, as well as the few Japanese dishes we got. Sushi rolls were..... just ok - they weren't that bad, but everything else was so fantastic that by the time the rolls arrived, they seemed very underwhelming. Sushi is my go to, usually, but I'll be back here to try out their main dishes for sure.
My wife and I have been busting hump for well over a week. We needed a break and a little night out. Given that it was Monday we, of course, said Secret Garden. It's one of our favorite places. As usual it was just what we needed and for some reason it felt little extra special for us last night. You guys never disappoint. Thanks!
Perfect location for breakfast right in the heart/infront of Niagara falls. You can never dine in better and getting closer to the Niagara Falls. The view is spectacular. Excellent customer service, the waitress Lindsey, she will make your experience to be the best. Their Farm fresh egg is the best/delicious, You must try. Their latte is delicious. Excellent experience This is my first time in my life to write any review.
Been here with my Dad twice. The service isn't the best at times, but the food is so good, I can't not give them 5 stars. Try the shrimp tempura appetizer. It's $10, but it's ENORMOUS and so delicious. Their specials are always on point as well. Sushi Is also really delicious, though I have yet to come on half priced Mondays or Wednesdays. I would easily say this is the best Japanese/Korean restaurant I have tried in Syracuse.
I love eating here. I've been here only twice because I live about 1.5h away in Rochester. But when I really crave for korean food, definitely worth the trip. So far the service has been good and food came out quickly. I enjoyed every bit of food that came out. I went in about 30min before their closing time but they seated me quickly and when I was eating even after their closing time, the server patiently waited for me to finish. I really enjoyed the time here and definitely I will be back here again soon!
The staff was observant and fast. My sushi was quite yummy and my friend really enjoyed his Korean dish. If you go on a Friday, be there before 6 as that's when it starts to get busy. Prices were very standard in comparison to other local sushi joints.
This is my first time eating at Secret Garden, and they left an excellent first impression. Every item that I ordered and tried from others tasted great! The chicken wings, miso soup, fried rice, California roll, and bibimbap in the stone bowl. All terrific!
The half price sushi on Mondays and Wednesdays is an absolute steal. Very nice blend of spices in their entrees, staff cared about quality as well. Great for dinner or lunch.
Some of the best food I've had in Syracuse. Great service, good portions, and excellent food. I come here with my friends all the time.
Absolutely delicious! My husband had the pork and squid barbecue and I had the hibachi chicken. We ordered edamame and an Amsterdam sushi roll to hold us over until our entrees were ready, but the service was very fast and the portions were bigger than we expected! And if you tell them what food allergies you have, they can modify many of their dishes for you. They brought me gluten free soy sauce too! What a great place to eat, we're definitely coming back during our next trip to Syracuse!
Fantastic food, great service, surprised this place isn’t packed. Best kept Asian food secret.
Sooo delicious! And right next door is the area's best-best Asian grocery store. Wine is a bottle grab when you walk in, service is friendly. We are fortunate to have Secret Garden!
The room was very busy, but the service was still great. The sushi was delicious & there were a lot of varieties. We tried many, & there were no disappointments. My biggest surprises: The wonderful kimchi --it was not over salted or too spicy; also, for an appetizer, we shared a bowl of won ton soup & were very blown away at how delicious the broth was!
Good & tasty food. Good atmosphere. Service is great too. Restrooms are clean and properly maintained.
My friend and I have been coming to this spot almost every week for over a year now. It's easily our favorite place to grab lunch or dinner. Whether we come on a cold day for some spicy soup, quick sushi, hibachi, or craving chicken and soju. They have a large menu with options for just about anyone. It's easy to find a meal according to anyones diet choices. I've loved everything I've tried. You get a large portion for what you pay for as well. I've had meals for a couple nights from leftovers I've taken home. Monday and Wednesday is also sushi night and can easily be packed, but you cant beat the price and the quality. We love the staff! They are very kind and always attentive. They make our visits 10x more enjoyable. I plan get togethers for our friends to catch up, and I've chosen this place I believe four times for our dinner meet up before we head out for other activities. So its great for large groups as well. In more simple terms the food is delicious, always fresh, with a lot of options for everyone. Along with a great staff. Really happy we stumbled upon this spot.
Stop by on the way from Niagara Falls to Albany. Found this place because we want to eat sushi and korean food. Unfortunately, we came late and the store was almost closed. They dont serve sushi anymore, but the kitchen was still accepting order. The food was delicious. Good service & nice place. Plenty of parking and seat.
This place is a very good good surprise for me, I really wasnt expecting good Gopchang stew last night. Fortunate enough in life, I had worked for 3 senior Korean sushi chefs in my 20s. The closest one to me once said "... Korean food that more authentic than Korea", Jayoong was referring to his beloved towns Flushing and Fort Lee. Jay will be so so proud if he would have tried Gopchang Stew that I had last night. I appreciated so much I made sure I didn't leave any tripes, meat, or small intestine left in the bowl. The amount of meat was so generous that Gopchang Story would be crying, Price is similar too. I could see that locals appreciate the place too: when I left the place there are queues for both table and parkings as well which will make you feel like you are in North Jersey or Flushing.
I had such a lovely lunch at Secret Garden. The sushi was beyond delicious. The noodles so good. This was my first time eating at this restaurant and it will absolutely not be the last. Loved it!
Very quiet sushi bar in the back that is very quaint and peaceful. Nice quiet place with good ambience to bring a date. Ordered some sushi to go. The sushi was very good!!!! When I walked in Muchael the waiter tried to drop kick me. But thankfully. The sushi chef Khai Pa blocked his kick and saved me. Just KIdding 🤣🤣🤣 Excellent customer service.
Slightly cold, bring a sweat shirt or sweater. Wait staff is very attentive and service is quick. They have a separate menu for Half-Priced sushi on Monday and Wednesday. I had the spicy shrimp and salmon roll, Ebi roll and Masago (smelt roe). I also had the Miso soup and I ginger ale. I highly recommend this place as it seems like I am in Japan having sushi...
Fast and friendly, amazing food. Half price sushi on Monday and Wednesday is what draws us in, and there are several plant-based options. The sweet potato roll is a must, the avocado cucumber roll is great too, the spring rolls are expensive but absolutely incredible, the fried tofu is nice and crispy, the seaweed salad doesn't taste fishy like you would expect, and the miso soup is killer. Love this place!
Consistently good! Have visited a couple times for sushi. They are averagely priced for a sushi place. Amazingly, they have half price deals on Wednesdays, which is SOOO worth it. High quality food for cheap. I would recommend the Super Dragon Roll. The atmosphere is nice with low lighting. The servers are very kind and it's easy to grab someone at anytime for help. Dining area is perfect size - not too big, not too small. I also love how there's an Asian food store right next door. You can do so much at one stop! The $20/bottle of wine promo is so smart around Valentine's day.
The food was delicious!! I had the BBQ Pork without the spices. It reminds me of authentic Chinese food; fresh, light and tasty!!! No worries they have sushi and a variety of dishes if you don’t eat pork. Our server was Michael; excellent. Highly recommend eating here if in the area. Everything was delicioso!!! Plan to visit once again before returning to MS.
Secret Garden was a wonderful first experience for us. The food was delicious, the service was fast and friendly and we left excited to come back and try more. The menu is big and can certainly feel overwhelming but with so much to choose from we found appetizers and main dishes that we both loved. This is a highly recommend for all.
Had to submit another review! This is for the take out which they have been handling phenomenally! Cannot recommend Secret Garden's food enough. Even with COVID they are handling the situation very well and I'm so glad I can support one of my favorite restaurants during this difficult time. Thumbs up and five stars.
Delicious authentic Korean dishes. Service was good. Worth the long wait. Big portion! It’s like double of what we usually have in New York City. But the price is much lower than Korea Town in NYC. There is a Korean grocery store next door. Perfect for us to get Asian snacks back to the hotel. We will definitely come back when we are around the area.
It was okay, I would like to go back again as they had an extensive menu but my wife wasn't too thrilled with the atmosphere, being a bit dark and damp looking, my meal was good and my wife's was okay. People rave about this place and I can see why. If you know what to order. I would check it out if I was never there before.
Love going for half priced night! It gets real crazy when college is in session around 7 or 8 so go before that or while they are on break. If you do that the service is good and the food is delicious! Meals tend to come out faster than sushi so make sure you aren't hangry when your friends meal lands and you still have to wait :-P
Have been going there for years. Food is consistently good. Love the squid BBQ, bibimbap, and has good sushi at 1/2 price on M & W. Service has been their issue, always. Sometimes good, sometimes poor.
It’s a go to for me. The food is authentically Korean and really good. The service is fast and friendly. I would love to see the air system there to be a little fresher. Also, it could use brighter colors to make it more lively. Other than that, the sushi is probably the freshest in the entire Syracuse area hands down.
The service was fast , friendly and clean. The sushi was fresh and perfect quality. Also has the best wasabi I've had in town so far. The complimentary cucumber salad, kimchee and fruit was extremely delicious and welcome. The half price rolls on Monday and Wednesdays are great. I didn't order any cooked food so I can't give the secret garden 5 stars yet. Great spot for a quick tasty bite.
This place has Korean and Japanese cuisine (mostly sushi for Japanese with some Habachi options, while most of the menu had Korean dishes). I went with my family, we are a mix of guten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian peoples, and the staff did accommodate each one of us. Overall (the portions were HUGE) amazing food with authentic choices and seasonings. However there is room to improve for providing more vegetarian or vegan friendly options!
Try their dishes outside out of sushi and you will not regret it. Their pork bulgogi is pricey but worth it! The flavor is unbelievable. They have been doing an excellent job, especially with the pandemic going on. All my takeout orders have been packed perfectly and like they’ve been doing it forever. Bring cash to tip them, they deserve it! They are working hard as heck during all this. The sushi menu has changed for half off on Mondays and Wednesday’s. Easier to go look at the menu than to ask them on the phone.
Good sushi. Have an awesome half-priced sushi menu on Monday and Wednesdays definitely worth stopping by. They also have a decent selection of beer and other imported alcoholic beverages. Their soups and stir fries are delicious. At times when they're very busy it can be difficult to get a table. I recommend getting there early on half-price Sushi days.
Secret Garden offers a serene and delightful dining experience, specializing in Asian cuisine that combines fresh ingredients with delicate flavors. Known for its beautifully presented dishes, such as sushi, dumplings, and flavorful curries, this restaurant provides a peaceful environment perfect for a relaxing meal. The menu features a variety of dishes from different Asian cultures, including Japanese, Chinese, and Thai, all crafted with attention to detail. The calm atmosphere, combined with attentive service, makes it an ideal spot for both casual dinners and special occasions.
Went twice on a Monday and Wednesday, their 2 half off sushi days. We were all very disappointed after day 1 when they were out of a couple Ramune sodas we wanted to try (and didn’t tell us just brought a different flavor), they forgot 2 of the rolls we ordered which were also the most expensive and ones we were excited about. We should have said something right when we got the food, our mistake. 2nd try was much better, faster service, got everything we asked for, and it all tasted great! Glad we tried again.
Their sushi has improved over the last 2 years I have been dining here. However the wait is always long here, most of the time there about half an hour wait just for sushi. Their customer service are okay over all. So if you are not in a rush or do not mind waiting for about half an hour, then I recommend this place to you.
Mediocre food. Large portions. Service is slow. Never asked if we wanted drinks or water. Served small tea, wasnt refilled since no one came to check. Had to chase down servers everytime. Lighting is very dark. Got bitten by some insect while dining.
It was fine. Seemed clean. Good service. But the tempura on the soft shell crab was way too thick and chewy. It’s supposed to be light and crisp
I came for the special because I don’t have much to splurge atm, typically spend only $6. Tried to order a roll, waiter had a mask, mumble, and accent but came to the conclusion he was explaining that they were out of the fish needed for the roll. I told him “it’s ok, I won’t get that, I’ll order the __ instead”. Food comes out and both rolls are on my plate and I’m charged for it and end up spending $18 w tip. Good food and ok service but very frustrating transaction and unfriendly to a student on a strict budget.
We came to this place for the amazing deal, 1/2 off sushi! I was excited to try this place, and the sushi wasn't bad. The restaurant was decently clean, the layout wasn't amazing as we were seated next to some very loud ladies (it happens) even though there were plenty of seats. But the customer service wasn't even close to great. You serve me spicy food but don't come back to refill water, we had to hunt him down to pay the bill. So, while I enjoyed the food, I am not sure I will come back for the service. However, if I do come back I will for sure get a Mt. Syracuse Roll!
Been there to eat & food was good but service was brutal. So I ordered food for my family and I togo. paid $80 for no lie 1/16 cup of unseasoned, cold hamburger n a full bowl of lettuce that was supposed to be Bim Bob a steak n seasoned vegiatble dish .Incredibly disappointing, and still didnt avoid ignoring rude nature of the guy whos always there.
I love the name of the restaurant, so I came to give it try. I had a very disappointed experience on my birthday this July with my family. We drove over one hour there with excitement. But soon found out it’s so dark in the eating area. When I told the waiter it was my birthday. He said nothing with his cold faces. The food we ordered my kids just had a couple of bites. I’m not crazy about my order— some was from pig intestine. I bagged all the left over, no one wanted it. We had to throw it all. 4 of us spent $150. Still felt hungry after we left.
Doesn't matter how good the food is if the customer service is awful. Doesn't matter if it is busy or slow. They forget basic stuff like the water or the hot tea we ordered. Thirty minutes and no food is uncalled for. What is worse is the lack of an apology. What's so hard saying things are backed up and thank you for your patience? This place was great, but now it's bad. Also don't buy sushi from here, it's rarely done right or fresh.
Stopped by after going to Tous Les Jour and it was the worst place we could’ve picked. The entrees came out at vastly different times and it also came out before the appetizers. We had 5 entrees total and two of it were the mackerel and for some reason the second mackerel came out 10 minutes after the first. Service was nearly nonexistent except to take our order. The worst part of this whole experience was that they charged me a 10$ tip that I did not sign off on. So come here if you want to get scammed.
Very disappointed for my first visit. I called ahead and ordered #4-5 Chicken BBQ. Took 10-15 mins. I got it home and it was dry and didn’t have BBQ sauce on it. Just some broth at the bottom and not enough for the entire meal. Not worth the $20+ bill. Maybe my expectations were wrong. May try again
Zero thought put into how they package to go orders. Crispy wings were put in a fully sealed plastic container so they steamed on the ride home and got all soggy. Chicken katsu was put over a bed of lettuce and soggy as well. It was also overcooked and dry. Side salad had old, slimy lettuce in it. Yaki soba noodles barely had any actual noodles in it and was mostly veggies. I've had some great food from here in the past but the last couple orders have been terrible. Won't be coming back again.
This restaurant if you order online using Uber their price horrible i order greens only shianghai $19 include rice but when I get it no rice,.I call them they just tell sorry come and pick up. I give $18 tip the delivery and I don't complain to uber I complain to restaurant stupid chef his not good cook because the flavor fresh garlic i can't eat and just bak chop greens. The reason I order because I'm at work and mix rain and snow feels like below 0 the weather no food.now because of this never go back there chef not a good cook, flavor nasty. My cooking is better.
Terrible food. As a korean myself, I am embarrassed this place is serving my country’s food. Ordered the galbi tang and the taste of MSG was overwhelming. I also got the tangsuyuk and the fried pork was soggy like it was out of a microwave. The banchan tasted like it was a couple of weeks too old to be served. Overall very disappointed. Please find a better korean food restaurant for your own good.
I just paid $24 for this incredibly small, no-frills, 2-roll takeout and the quality was worse than a $15 combo roll with nigiri from Wegmans. The pieces of sushi here are half the size of the rolls I get anywhere else in Cuse. Very bland, no flavor. So much worse, and more overpriced, than the Secret Garden I remember.
