If you’re in Los Angeles and you enjoy Japanese food, this is definitely a place you should experience at least once. From the restaurant’s atmosphere to the quality of the food, I honestly have nothing to complain about. The dishes are also very reasonably priced for what you get. Highly recommended.

Great Japanese restaurant in Torrance, service staff are very nice and polite Japanese people, food is solid and reasonably priced. Parking can be tough in that plaza but definitely will be coming here again. The chicken katsu breading is very crispy which I like, and the karaage chicken has a juicy interior with a crispy exterior.

This place is really solid. The katsu was especially good, service was more than adequate, and it's priced pretty reasonably. Reasonably. Menu is interesting with daily specials. No complaints.

Came for a late lunch and it was busy but we were seated quickly. Food came out very fast and was absolutely delicious! Ordered the udon carbonara, takana fried rice, and the una ju and everything was so tasty. Service was great as well. Would love to come back!

Something special is happening here. Yes, excellent Japanese food BUT they are experimenting with hybrids. Enjoy any entree. One must finish with the green tea cheesecake. Simply delicious. We will return.

Awesome Japanese food! A little pricey but it has everything you want for Japanese food. They all taste great, so I think it is worth the price. I ordered udon carbonara, Ika Yaki, and Beef Tataki Set. Amazing experience, and the restaurant is always busy at night, so it is better to make a reservation before going. FYI, don't go there when you are very hungry because the portion is somehow small

We had lunch here for the first time, and was pleasantly surprised to find tasty, authentic Japanese food, not some wannabe copycat. I liked the subtle seasoning of each dish which were carefully prepared. The menu is extensive so would love to visit again to try something else. It's located in a strip mall with ample parking in front. Servers are friendly.

In a small plaza off of Hawthorne Blvd. There is a great selection on the menu. I have been here many times for their udon noodles...very good! Today we had a combo box and rainbow roll. Very delicious!

Located in a nondescript strip center, this Japanese Restaurant was surprisingly good. The food is well-priced for the quality food we were served. Their menu is extensive with many choices so everyone can find what they like. We ordered the combination boxes with 2 items and everything was delicious – grilled teriyaki chicken, tempura shrimp and vegetables, salad, and rice. I wish I’d ordered the 3-item, I’ll do that next time. Service is nice; for indoors they require wearing a mask. It was a warm night so we liked dining outdoors with the nice breeze.

Incredible food! I would highly recommend getting a reservation ahead of time since we went on a Thursday night and it still had a line out the door! We had an absolutely divine poke bowl, Katsu curry and sushi. Excellent quality rice as well, I preferred the green tea cheese cake to the coffee jelly but that might be a matter of personal preference. Next time I would order a coffee or drink with the cheesecake since it is a little dry.

I've passed this shopping center so many times and never knew there was a hidden gem in plain sight. This place specializes in Japanese comfort foods and everything is really good. My personal favorites are the curry as well as the bento box combos. You can get a variety of options that are sure to satisfy all pallets.

Pleasant dining experience and food! Food was delicious and hit the spot. Food was quick to be prepared, and was fresh hot. Service was nice and friendly. Location is small, so the place feels intimate, and cozy. Would definitely come again, if I were in the area. Recommend.

Extensive menu with tasty offerings. Ordered: ~Udon Carbonara: udon was bouncy and chewy topped with mushrooms and bacon strips in a creamy sauce. Good flavor. Must try. ~Spicy Miso Ramen: flavorful broth and chewy noodles. ~Takana Fried Rice w/ Clam Chowder Croquette: fried rice was good, loved the pickled mustard greens. The egg was a lil overcooked. The croquettes were crispy. Small restaurant with limited seating. Plenty of parking.

Small izakaya serving authentic Japanese small plates. We had the rainbow roll, toro sushi, hamachi collar, and omurice. The rainbow roll was good, and the fish was fresh. The toro 🍣 doesn't taste as premium as I would like, but it's good enough. What was troubling about the service was that the servers couldn't tell toro sushi from their beef sushi. They gave us the beef sushi first, and we promptly told them the order was for toro and not beef. 2 servers have to come by to look real close before they realized that the 🍣 was indeed beef. The omurice was decent, but we would have like the egg to be a lot more runny.

Sort of stumbled upon this place as my GPS led me astray, but glad that happened as this was an enjoyable meal. With 3 people, we were able to get a variety of dishes. I love hamachi (yellowtail) sashimi and it was lovely. Just how I expected and wanted it. I normally would not order fried chicken cartilage, but it was surprisingly good and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The homemade yuzu sorbet was simple, but to the point. Those were my top dishes based on flavor. The above average dishes were seared albacore sashimi, steak with stir-fried bean sprouts, agedashi tofu, and strawberry unbaked cheesecake. The cheesecake tasted fine, but interestingly it was unbaked. I didn’t really like the fried breaded salmon, but it wasn’t my choice. Lol. Would I go back? Yes! Most dishes were pretty good, but I probably would not go out of my way to get to this place.

Small place with a variety of food. We ordered outside of our known menu, just to try something new. Udon carbonara, takana fried rice and curry with rice- food is good, tasty and plenty. I loved the fried rice!

It's an authentic place for Japanese food, just like the restaurants in Japan. The inside is tiny, and the tables are close to each other. We ordered fried squid legs, eel rice, and seafood udon soup. The food came quickly, the server was friendly and efficient. The food tastes pretty good, especially the seafood udon soup. The overall experience of dining at Ojiya was pleasant.

Craving sushi ended up here late at night after the other sushi we were supposed to go was not open, we got seated quickly, and the menu was given by our waitress. We went with spicy edemame as an appetizer, and for sushi, we got shrimp tempura roll, spicy tuna roll, and a spider roll... so the edemame was not spicy but had good flavor. Spicy salmon roll was not spicy, was just decent in flavor, and it was skimpy. The shrimp tempura roll was ok in flavor, but again, on the skinny side. Finally, the spider roll had good-sized pieces but lacks in flavor. Only eel sauce stood out from all the other flavors... all in all, it's just ok. They do have an extensive menu. Maybe something worth the price and good on flavor would make me come back here...🤷‍♂️

Kinda like an 80's insurance office with constant incoming calls!! No joke. Visited for a saturday dinner and the phone was constantly ringing. 2 servers had their hands full and wasnt answering the loud analog phone. So it was constantly ringing. I would highly recommend shutting the ringer off for the sake of dining in customers. Restaurant layout was a bit odd - dining area in the rear and front while kitchen was at center. I get that we are all trying to come out of covid, but service was non-existent here. Restaurant wasnt packed at all. Food was mediocre at best. Do not order the baby aji fry as it looks and tastes grotesque. Udon tasted like it was water with soy sauce. BAD. Really bad experience here and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Horrible waitress. We went in on 9/28 Sunday. My wife showed early sign of diabetes, and as she's been doing for the last 5 years, she takes very small amount of celery (see picture) to keep the glucose level down prior to eating. Don't know the science behind it but this is what she's been doing without any single issues at more than 50 different restaurants. We sat down and younger waitress says, "we don't allow outside food". We tried to explain but she says this is a company policy.... Fine. An older and nicer lady takes our order and we order two dishes. She later comes back and says they don't allow outside food. We now get a chance to fully explain about the diabetic situation and she apologizes and leaves. Older lady goes back to the younger waitress and they talk in Japanese looking at my direction giving me the angry look. By now I'm frustrated by the absurdity of the situation so I take the celery bag and showed it to them asking what is the problem? We ordered one food for each of us and my wife has health issues. Older waitress again apologises and tells me they did not know it. All misunderstanding cleared so I'm thinking all is good. Not with the younger waitress. She, in a condescending voice tell me "this is company policy. Could you please eat it outside and comeback?" Wait, so you're saying that I should tell my wife to take her tiny bag of celery and eat it in the parking lot and comeback to eat at the restaurant? I kept my composure, cancelled our order, and walked out. Long time patron but never going back. Horrible horrible waitress (younger waitress, older waitress was very nice). These kinds of inflexibility is what shuts restaurants down. There it is...my first ever negative restaurant review and I'm still confused by the absurdity.
