Best dinner in Troy, NY the new owner is from El Salvador. The dinner is super clean and the food is delicious and prices are affordable. I recommend it!

I enjoyed a great breakfast. I had the Southern Omelet, 3 eggs, sausage, mushrooms (I had them add jalapenos) covered with sausage gravy with home fries. OMG, how is it that Troy NY has such a great take on Southern cuisine? It was delicious, I'll definitely revisit the next time I'm in the area.

Amazing quality for the price and hardly anyone else in there during the week. Which for us is a plus! It is slammed some weekends but they always make room and have awesome specials. You can also make your own skillet and ask for switch outs ans subs.

Convenient location near HVCC, 787, and downtown Troy. What more could you ask for in a little diner. Nice looking small diner. The waitresses were very friendly, the place was clean, and the prices on the menu were quite low. The specials were even lower, and included some interesting menu options including a southwestern omelet and a southern Benny, an eggs Benedict style dish with sausage gravy. I ordered the southwestern omelet, but the waitress accidentally wrote down "southern" instead of "southwestern". When I got my southern omelet she immediately apologized and offered to bring me the right omelet, but I was pretty happy once I saw the sausage gravy. It was delicious, and loaded with bits of sausage. The omelet itself had a serious amount of sausage mixed in. I also had the deep fried home fries, which I think were probably just frozen home fries thrown in the fryer. I'll try the non-deep fried version next time. We also got a Reuben, which had some great corned beef and heavily pickled sauerkraut. The country fried steak was excellent, with really tasty breading. We'll definitely be back. Second Trip Edit: We indeed went back the following week. My usual breakfast friend was apparently dreaming about their country fried steak all week. This time we went with a party of 6 which was no trouble. They were quite busy, so drink refills were slow, but otherwise service was spot on. I tried the South Troy Special this time, and the sandwich was delicious. Deli ham and deli turkey, both fried on the grill, with cole slaw, cheese, russian, and then the whole sandwich fried on rye bread. It was delicious and generously portioned. Definitely our new breakfast spot for tasty diner fair at the lowest prices I've seen in Troy.

It doesnt look like much from the outside, and being located in front of the jail was almost a dean breaker for me.... But Im so glad we deiced to go. Truly a hidden gem in South Troy! Love this place!!! Lived in South Troy for 3 years and finally went a few days ago. The service was great, the food was delicious, and the setting was cute and quaint. I had the Belgian waffle with strawberries and whipped cream. I wasn't crazy about the frozen strawberries but it didn't take anything away. My husband got the chicken fingers and french fries. I was more crazy about the chicken fingers than my husband! I do like that they serve lunch and breakfast the whole time they're open, especially since they close pretty early in my opinion. My only complaint is I wish they were open longer!

I've been eating here for many many years of my life now and I love the food they serve as well as the staff who run the place everyone is very friendly and helpful and you feel welcome when you walk in the door. I definitely recommend trying for yourself and you won't be disappointed I promise.

This place is what I think of when I think of a diner. It's simple, familiar, quick, inexpensive. The menu is not overwhelming, but there are options. The focus seems to be on quality. My omelette wasn't overcooked. It was tender. Perfect amount of filling. Good service. Good coffee. I want to go back to try the homemade ice cream. Truly a classic diner.

Well- I can’t share pics because everyone ate everything too quickly. 😂. We stopped here while on a 6 hour car trip- just for a quick and inexpensive lunch. (We weren’t looking for fancy- just yummy and simple). Our group consisted of two adults, one 15 year-old, one 13 year-old, and a 4 year-old. We had an assortment - chicken fingers, crispy chicken sandwich, macaroni salad, stuffed pepper soup, southwest omelette, home fries, steak and eggs, oatmeal, blueberry pancakes… everything was great. It was exactly what we needed for a quick and easy lunch that pleased everyone. As a bonus, they were super friendly and accommodating and the speed of service was perfect. Kids asked if we can add this as a regular stop for when we make this trip again. We will be back!

If you like small local dinners with killer home fries, this is the place. Food is good, people are good, and that is all I need.

This is the best of what it is: a good diner, with fast service and good prices and good quality food. We've gotten in and out on weekends for breakfast in less than hour quite often. I've never been disappointed with my food. I usually have enough left over for another meal. Coffee is so-so, like most diners. Coffee snobs may want to get a juice there and a good coffee elsewhere.

Like other people have said, if you expect a fancy breakfast, you might be disappointed. Literally timed the service. Coffee in 30 seconds, meal in 10 minutes, breakfast for less than $10/person tax included. I come here a bunch for the speed, the food is great, the people are friendly and it feels like I’m going to my moms for breakfast. It feels like coming home. The owner is the cook and he does a great job. Kids love the Mickey Mouse pancakes...

It's a weekly staple for us. We go for breakfast on Saturdays usually. There is a wide variety of options. I am a HUGE proponent of their deep fried home fries (crispy cubes of soft potato goodness). They are very reasonably priced and the wait staff are super nice and accommodating. Excellent coffee, too.

Stopped here on our way home from vacation. Wonderful waitress/hostess; she was so kind and accommodating. You could tell many locals frequented. Amazing service!

What a great place. Simple, fast food for at great prices. The diner is situated at the corner and parking is in the rear. Locals love this place and it seems like a diner that had served generation after generation. The menu is straight forward and had just enough variety to satisfy all four in our breakfast party. I always go simple with eggs, toast and home fries. Others in our party ordered the pancakes, French toast, Greek omelets and sausage. Everyone admired the classic diner decor and raved about the fast service and amazing food taste. Really, this is a must visit diner if your ever in the area. While small, turnover is quick enough that even on a busy day, you get seated and feed quickly. Overall this was a great experience and I'd honestly have to rate an A+. Will visit again when I'm in town.

I had the hot turkey sandwich and wow! It's roasted in house and sliced thick and the gravy is dailed in perfectly. It's real deal home cooking. It like brings the nostalgic feeling back. It's def a great place to go relax an u don't have to worry about breaking your bank to have a legitimate meal made with real ingredients. I was a chef for years I've worked at many fine dining establishments as a cook and a sous chef. I've tried it all but this food is for real. In school they would say the secret ingredient to French cooking is "butter butter and butter" but they forgot the most important part and that's LOVE! and u won't find food made with this much love anywhere else.

Decided to try this cute little diner before attending an event at HVCC. The waitress was so sweet, the diner is super cute and cozy, and the food was perfectly made and delicious. I got simple eggs, toast, sausage, and a side of spinach with coffee and juice and there was nothing left. My mom ordered the special and ate most of it... which is saying a lot due to her small appetite. The prices were excellent too.

Having driven by this older building with unique coffee cup on the roof many times, I checked the reviews, which were largely excellent, and decided to stop in. This is an old-school diner, smallish in size and simply decorated. The vibe very chill and the staff is very personable and friendly. Our server was attentive, helpful and funny. I asked for hot sauce and she brought over a *huge* bottle of Red Hot. I jokingly said, "hmm, I don't think this will be enough." Without missing a beat, she said, "I've got more in the back if you need it." I definitely appreciated the quick-witted retort, couple with the great service. Food was very tasty. My wife liked her Greek omlette and I had a Greek skillet, basically the same thing except larger and all mixed together. Both were nicely prepared and tasty. We would definitely get them again. We passed a couple of other diners to get here, but it was totally worth the trip. If you're nearby, give South Troy Diner a try.

Waitress was polite and respectful. I would not recommend the breakfast club here, the menu doesn't list what's on it but I asked what it came with and was told it could be whatever I wanted. I asked for a simple bacon, egg, and cheese with cheddar and no extras. What I got was completely different. Wouldn't recommend to-go either because the bread was regular white bread and was soggy within the 5 minute trip home. I will have to come back another time and try a sit down breakfast.

Corned beef hash tastes like dog food. Home fries had no flavor . Eggs were burnt on the outside but under cooked on the inside. The waitress was friendly, and tried to make the experience more enjoyable, but unfortunately the food was terrible. Giving it 2 stars just for the friendly service and good atmosphere.

Ordered a pick up four breakfast sandwiches and home fries..food was dry over cooked..black chunks of burnt food on our food..grill must not be cleaned between uses never ever again 🤮

Breakfast are great but today when I went and picked up our burgers.. the cheeseburger deluxe were not good at all..the lettuce were soggy & limpy not crunchy at all..the tomato & onion were cut uneven& big pieces..they looked like scapes..on one burger the tomato part with the stem (stem cut off) was put on burger..we were so disappointed we didn't even finished the burgers..we will stick to breakfast from now on..

I went this morning with my sister and brother-in-law and the food was absolutely disgusting. The waitress pointed out the specials so I got the Loudon broil skilled with eggs. The meat was horrible, it was old and spoiled! I’ve never spit out steak before today. The eggs were disgusting and the potatoes cooked with the meat were gross. I only was able to eat my Rye toast. I didn’t complain, which I regret now. I just ordered a mushroom and Swiss burger to go. When I got home the fries were old like they have been sitting and my burger was 100% grissle( that rubbery piece in ground beef) it was so bad I spent $60 on all my food and threw out about 90% of it. On top of that my sister, brother in law and my self were not treated very badly, i take pride in tipping very well and carrying my self well so when i go out to restaurants and i am not treated with kindness and hospitality, I know the problem is not me. We were continuously ignored and talked down to which was not necessary and we didn’t say anything while we were there, i even still tipped which I regret now. DO NOT EAT HERE. As a hardworking Black customer who takes pride in supporting businesses, I expect fairness and professionalism — unfortunately, that was not my experience here and I am more than disappointed. Frankly, I am outraged. It is very rare that I leave such a negative review, especially as a business owner. But South Troy Diner is AWFUL!

I ordered food for pick up yesterday no problems tipped the person that I picked up from and I wanted to order again this morning… I called and got attitude from 2 employees over the phone the first telling me can’t order over the phone and pay in cash when I just did it yesterday morning.. anyways not the point.. I asked for the prices that seemed higher than what I paid yesterday and got a response of “we are waitresses we don’t have time to tell you the individual prices” for the 2 meals that I wanted to order and was told maybe I should come in and order.. both of the employees were extremely rude. How about you be a waitress and do your job if I ask for a price isn’t it your job to tell me the price? Disgusting customer service.
