Cosa dicono i clienti di Verdile's
Verdile's is a long-standing Troy tradition, known for its nostalgic atmosphere, large portions, and friendly staff. The chicken parm is a standout, and the carrot cake is a must-try (and huge!). Some find the food just "ok" or have order issues.

A quiet place in Troy that offers excellent food and a superior atmosphere that you won't find at chain establishments. Made reservation but if you're a party of 2 or 3 call ahead.
Service was great! The cheese cake was to die for. Cozy environment with a family friendly atmosphere.
I've been going there since the 70's!! The food is delicious and the employees are very friendly.
The veal parmesan is some of the best I've ever had. Gary our waiter couldn't have done any better , we eat out a lot and i cant remember having better service . Can't wait to come back.
Amazing Italian food in an old-school family atmosphere. We needed a restaurant to meet new friends coming into town, and immediately thought of Verdiles. We were there for hours, without feeling rushed or ignored--and the food was great from the calamari appetizer to the tiramisu.
Very clean! Everyone was super nice and professional! One of my new favorite places hands down!
Delicious and abundant eggplant parmigiana. Waiter was patient as friends connected and placed orders. Never rushed . Great venue to relax and enjoy the best Italian. Wine list provides variety too.
My favorite Italian restaurant. We seem to do a lot if take out lately, and I am very pleased with that. I get what I ask for, including the special requests. The portions are the same size as what what you would get in the restaurant.
Great dishes, a nice atmosphere and very attentive servers. Verdile's has been a family favorite ever since it opened, and the quality has been consistently excellent over the years. Well done!
Some of the best Italian food in the area. My daughter and I had calamari and fried oyster appetizers and the Pasta La Verdile dinner. It was all very good. I love that they don't salt up the food. Carrot cake, a huge slice, and tiramusu to go. They have a very tasty espresso martini, too.
Service was outstanding, and the staff made us feel welcome.
Our 2 meals were absolutely amazing. We had the lasagna and the chicken scarpariello. We also had the chocolate lava cake. We will definitely go back there again when we travel down that way. 5 star all the way!!!
This is an exceptional family owned Italian place. BEST carrot cake. Yum.
Waiter was outstanding, food was awesome!! Beer menu could use a boost but whole experience was excellent. Visited for good friends bday and they treated whole party like gold. Very nice people with quality ingredient food. Suggest the veal dishes and carrots cake dessert. Only knock is they should warm the bread before serving.....
If ur looking for some good Italian food in Troy N.Y. this is definitely the place to come, I had the chicken picatta and it did not disappoint, it was so flavorful I wanted to order seconds, the slice of carrot cake could feed a whole family!! I highly recommend this place!! And the prices are very decent might I add!! Thank you Verdiles, thank you!!
large portions that were yummy. Verdile's veal great.. prices are reasonable... Our waiter Gary was attentive but not hurrying, very professional like one would find in Europe. Made for a wonderful experience..
This place has been a family favorite for as long as I can remember. The food & service is always impeccable. They went above & beyond for us recently & I must proclaim my love & appreciation. My dad had reservations for dinner for Easter for 4 people, I was sadly working with my fiance & we managed to get out early, even though it surely must have been tricky on the busy holiday, they managed to fit us in very last minute. We are all incredibly grateful!
I've eaten here literally dozens of times over 15 years. They consistently have great Italian food. Their shrimp marinara is one of my favorites. The veal dishes are fabulous too. Unfortunately I live on the other side of the country. I wish we had an Italian restaurant that was even close to the quality of Verdile's in my state.
We ate here a few days ago and they have very tasty food and large portions. I had the Veal & Eggplant Parmesan combo. I haven't been able to find great Eggplant Parmesan. The Veal was excellent too!
You want Italian? Visiting this place is a somewhat hidden Gem in the area. You want Old School Italian? You want Old School Italian food that will make your soul dance? Don't get me started on the desserts lol seriously... I've gone 3 times to this place. Its a treat - I love to cook at home so I don't out much. In my book; if your going out to spend money on food, service, and a great atmosphere then make it a treat for yourself! Verdiles (to me) is that place! Did I mention the desserts? 😂 front the moment I walk in the door - till the time i leave -they make me feel like I'm home with family - I will add - I know NOBODY there, no friends that work there I'm not bias in ANY way - just a guy who loves good quality food and carrot cake! If you choose to have the carrot cake be prepared to have the best slice you've ever had before - unless one of your relatives makes good carrot cake then its equally as good. Manga! Manga!
We just found this neighborhood gem after living in the area for years, and are so happy that we did! After our third visit the food was still incredible, house- made linguini and marinara were fresh and delicious, there's a nice selection of quality wine and beer, and it's been in the same hardworking family for three generations. Oh, and the prices are reasonable as well. What's not to love? We'll be back.
Had a great meal with my hubby here tonight. The service was amazing, warm and very friendly and the food was great! This is what you call a great old Italian restaurant..just like I knew when I was a child. Lived in Albany for 59 years..first time here. Many large groups of families were dining. I knew it was a gem when I saw that. No reviews mentioned the carrot cake. Waiter talked us into this "must try". One slice was the size of a dinner plate! Had a few bites and will be able to eat it all week! Deliziosoa place.
Fantastic ambiance and the wait staff was phenomenal. I swear he could read our minds and had requests (extra plates, more silverware, another drink) ready in hand the instant the thought popped into existence. The sidecar cocktails that I ordered from the bar were some of the best I'd had that I didn't make myself. I absolutely love anchovies and was pleased that adding them was nearly always an option for most anchovy appropriate things on the menu. The anchovies were fresh and great tasting unlike the salty mush you sometimes get at the grocery store. My lobster ravioli was very tasty and the never empty basket of Napoli bakery bread meant that I always had a piece of bread to mop up the pasta sauce. The portions are rather large, I got lunch portions and was very content with the amount of food.
Old school Italian restaurant. And that's not a bad thing at all, in fact it's great ! We have never ever had a bad meal or service, ever. And we've been going for more than 35 years. Too many superb dishes to recommend. Everything is just fantastic ! Highly recommended !
This was absolutely fabulous. The owner still takes pride in his family restaurant and services things to his guests too. The waiters and waitresses are attentive. Sangria wine is amazing!! Thank you!
People that eat Americanized Italian food ,need to understand that Verdiles servers traditional Italian food. There food is absolutely amazing! You will never leave there hungry, from appetizers to deserts, there food is quality!! Some people are just cheap!! If you want great traditional Italian food, there is no better place for it and quality service!!
I love this restaurant. What separates it from the rest is that It's been a family business for decades. There is history and tradition. The food is incredible. Italian red sauce, homemade pasta and fried oysters to die for. Don't leave without the dessert - Tartufo. OMG...My mouth is watering. The waitstaff is like family. So many have been there for generations and pass along their experience to the new staff. The waiters are in Tuxedo...It's just a place that you'll want to go back to again and again. And you AFFORD to!!! I had my son's rehearsal dinner here and everyone was blown away by the experience. 5 Thumbs Up
I have been dining , at Verdile's, since I was a child. The food is always superb! Waitstaff is attentive and cordial. Add a stylish, old world atmosphere, and an owner who cares. This is a formula for longevity!!!
The environment was great. The wait staff was great and made recommendations that were also great. Food was delicious. Can’t ask for anything more from a small family owned Italian restaurant.
My family loves Verdile's. We have been going for years, many, many years. Everything is good especially the Italian entree's but the steak and the scallops are a couple of my favs. Prices are very reasonable most under 20 bucks. I usually get the Chicken Gallo with potato or Chicken Parm with pasta. Try it, you will like it and Saturday afternoon is the senior discount.
Great family owned Italian restaurant. Been going here for many years. Never ordered a dinner I did not like. Professional waitstaff.
Our go to place in Troy, NY. Home made salad dressings, DiNapoli bread, outstanding main dishes, desserts? Yes. Delicious! Get the Carrot Cake. Share it around the table!
Stopped in for a pizza and a beer after round of golf and this place hit the spot. Definitely want to go back and try some of the menu items. Old school Italian restaurant vibes
Would highly recommend this restaurant. We stumbled upon it on our way back from a ski trip in Vermont. The service, staff, and guests were all very friendly and welcoming. It was Super Bowl Sunday. We met a few of the locals at the bar and they quickly started asking where we were from and making us feel like we were locals. The food did not disappoint. Our family of 5 all enjoyed all of our meals. The homemade pasta and sauce was delicious. My daughter loved the lobster ravioli and my son had homemade pizza. We almost forgot the carrot cake, but one of the locals reminded us and even offered to pay for it. We took it home. Definitely some of the best carrot cake I have ever had and enough for our whole family! We will definitely be back when we are in the area. If you can check this place out.
One of the very best true Italian restaurants in New York!
I came up from Queens on my birthday. Verdile's is an old school Italian restaurant like back in the day in Ozone Park. The sauce (not gravy) was homemade. The calamari was excellent. The seafood cacciatore was delicious. The carrot cake was a treat. Service was personal and very kind. Worth the trip. I think the restaurant has been around since 1943 for a very good reason. It's not fancy but it doesn't have to be. A real gem from another era! I will be returning the next time I visit Troy. It's an absolute treasure of the city.
You cannot visit this place and not get their home made pasta. The spaghetti is absolutely amazing. Everything else, from the bread to the generous salads is good too, but I don't think I've had better spaghetti. The service is exemplary and prices are reasonable.
A step back in time where real, fresh, and delicious, still exists. The antipasto for two was perfection. The staff could not have been nicer,or more attentive. They treated you with manners, made sure we were happy, and thanked us for coming. Service, great food, comfortable setting and surprisingly affordable. We will be returning.
My first time here with 3 others who had previously experienced it and they were spot on! This place is amazing with a funny server, who talked with us about her car, and the food portion was enough for 4 people! My wife and I split an entree (veal and eggplant parmesan) and we both still had some to take home! The sauce is thick with intense flavor and the bread was so fresh! We'll certainly be back!
Amazing dinner for Father's day. We had loose plans, and called ahead. 45 min to close, and they had a table for 8 ready, no problem..our server was amazing, the food is so good.. home made pasta, seafood, etc. absolutely will go again.
This is the first time I've eaten there and I have to say this is one of the best dining experiences I've had. The staff was very attentive and everything arrived quickly. The only thing I would have liked, and it's just a personal preference, what is more garlic in the shrimp scampi. Otherwise it was excellent!
One of my favorite italian restaurants in Troy, no matter your reason for going they will make sure you have a great time. I've seen birthday parties, holiday celebrations, dates, friends enjoying a meal, and I've never seen one upset customer. The food is made with care, and the service is on point. What else could you ask for? Plus, they have peroni! Enjoy!
My husband and I had an exceptional first experience at Verdiles this evening. Our waiter Steve was very attentive and personable. The food was delicious and the atmosphere very comfortable. We will definitely be dinning here again in the future. I will be recommending this restaurant to our family and friends
I am had the seafood plater special and it was real good.
Excellent waiter, excellent food and excellent carrot cake. It was a memorable night out.
Wonderful old restaurant that has been in the community for over 100 years. Chicken parm and steak was delicious. And, even if you don't have room, get the carrot cake to-go, you'll eat it for days!!
The food and the service at Verdi is always outstanding. They do everything right the authentic Italian food, the second to none.
First time visit to Verdile's Restaurant in Troy, NY Sun 3/16/25 6pm. Highly recommended by our daughter & her man. So we accepted their invitation. This is a family owned restaurant for 80+ years. Consistently wins "Best of" awards locally. Thought they made reservations, dining was full of reservations. We opted to sit at a table in the bar area. Good options as Peter the bartender was also or server. Our drinks were Peroni on tap ($7) & Malbecs ($10ea). Menu is Italian-American. They offer 4 soups ($4cup/$5bowl), apps $8-16, salads $12/16, antipasto $20 & 25. Pizza $11-17. Pasta $18-25 note: you can make your own pasta plate from 8 pastas & 6 sauces ($15-18). Many other dinners eggplant, chicken & veal parmigiana, scampi, alfredo, piccatta, etc. Also steaks & seafood are offered. Our choices were Fettuccine Alfredo w/shrimp ($19), Chicken Piccatta ($26), Shrimp Scampi ($25), & House Specialty Chicken Scarpariello, chicken, broccoli, sausage, vinegar peppers in a garlic & olive oil sauce ($28) - Scarpariello is a rarely found on menus and it was Perfecto! All dinners were served hot to the table. Italian bread served w/ meals. All dinners are served with side of spaghetti or a choice of 2 sides. Hate to nitpick on just one thing that we thought you could do better - the Italian greens were mushy. Now to dessert. Some patrons come here just for Chef Vinnie's Award Winning Carrot Cake. Huge slice, enough for two ($11). Check the webpage for a photo of this treat. Plenty of off street parking, clean restrooms, very comfortable bar area. Great first time visit. Thank you Peter & staff. Kitchen did a great job. We will be back for sure. Nick & Liz, Albany, NY
This was my first time and the food was G-R-E-A-T and the prices were reasonable and fair. All the staff were prompt, attentive, and caring. I highly recommend this restaurant!!!
Our group of 4 had a wonderful Italian dinner here. It was superb food, and our waitress was well-informed on all details, attentive, and pleasant. The manager stopped to inquire about our meals. A wonderful experience.
Friendly and professional staff at both dine in and take out experiences. The food is very good with ample portions at reasonable prices. Family run and it definitely gives that vibe. Definitely worth a try. After 1 visit I wanted to return and bring my parents.
Perfect choice, my wife and I split the veal and my wife couldn't finish her half, daughter got ravioli and son got a custom pasta with sausage and sauce from a shrimp pasta dish... really great service, lots more options than most places, the waitress was outstanding and the owner came by to check on us a couple times. Not black tie service but extremely accommodating, up to the standard that I would expect from a much more expensive place.
It's like walking into a 1940's atmosphere (without the cigarette smoking!). We've been coming here for 20+ years and the atmosphere is always the same. Food is fantastic, portions are huge! Staff makes you feel like family.
Decades long record of serving family dinners. Multiple generations of locals have embraced the tradition of dinner at Verdiles. We visited from Florida after being away from Troy for 15 years and Verdiles was on the must-do short list. Did not disappoint.
A wonderful gem of Troy and the capital district. Reminds of the song by Billy Joel, "Meet you any time you like at our Italian restaurant". Relaxing, no rush but attentive. Food is excellent and huge portions. Great prices too. Suggest the Carrot Cake.
I’ve been coming to Verdile’s my entire life, and it never disappoints. The food is as amazing as ever, and the nostalgic atmosphere brings back so many great memories. Their chicken parm is hands-down the best around—comforting, flavorful, and consistently perfect. A true local gem that stands the test of time!
Verdile’s Restaurant has been a staple for my family for 60+ years. Great people, food and service. Consistent throughout the years. Comfortable Home Away From Home feeling. Recent visit was for a family gathering celebrating several birthdays. A 5 Star Completely Satisfied Experience. Highly recommend.
Classic Italian food, excellently prepared. The wait staff are always engaging and pleasant. The assistance is a little dated, however. Try the carrot cake for dessert.
Awesome food. Waiter served. Cheese and crackers near the bar. They even serve italian spaghetti sauce. Make their own pasta too. Prices reasonable and can serve large amount of guests for such a small place.
Excellent food. However I didn't like how the owner would say demeaning remarks to his staff publicly, its rude. My waiter was sweet older man, and was a doll!
There with a large group. Great service. Everyone's food was good but knocked off a star due to overcooked steak, though the flavor was fine (did not want to wait for the correct medium rare). Would definitely visit again if in town.
This is an old school Italian restaurant. The service was impeccable. We had the fried calamari appetizer and it was delicious. I had the chicken parm, which was just so so- they didn't tenderize the breast prior to breading and frying. Frying. Breading didn't stick properly to the breast. My wife had the veal and it was pretty darn good.
High priced meals only to receive butter in plastic cartons, salad was delicious and fresh, food was delicious
I dined with my son from college. The waitress was nice, professional and very accommodating. My only complaint and reason for 4 stars on the food was the side dishes of roasted potatoes and Italian greens that came with my entree. The potatoes were very small and lots if burnt ends in my dish. The greens had an off taste due to the cheese the chef put in. I make spinach with garlic, olive oil, and Romano cheese that tastes very good. I'm not sure if the chef used a stronger cheese or the cheese was bad. Other than that, the appetizer, entrees and dessert were very good.
Ordered take out here for the first time at a little before 8pm on a Sunday. Never eaten here before. Online ordering was easy, restaurant called to confirm 1 portion of our order. Was very polite on the phone and just as polite and friendly when we picked up the order. The "slice" of carrot cake on top was shocking. It was HUGE! Definitely 6 portions, we were very happy lol. The rest of the food was good, and I imagine it would be even better served fresh in the restaurant. Overall, happy with the experience and will order again in the future.
We decided to order my birthday dinner from Verdiles We ordered 2 different dinners and they forgot the side vegetable of the day for both orders. We paid extra for linguine and received spaghetti, with hardly any sauce. Slightly disappointed tonight.
Good Italian food, old time restaurant. Located in bad area of Troy but felt safe. Service is always top notch. Particularly like their bar drinks, always have a traditional Gibson. Chicken Marcella was good. Everyone was happy with their meal.
My friend and I went here for dinner last night. If was a Friday and we arrived a little after 6pm. We didn't have to wait for a table. We ordered the fried oysters for an appetizer. They were served with cocktail, tarter and wedged lemon. The coating was a batter dip, not bread crumbs which I was very happy about. They were cooked perfectly and fell apart with a fork. They were fantastic! My friend ordered a pasta dish w linguini, shrimp and spinach in a garlic wine sauce, and I the Lobster Ravioli. I got 7 raviolis in a very tasty tomato cream sauce. My friends linquini was overcooked and mushy, and without very many small shrimp. I would've been more pleased with a few more raviolis, Maybe make the dish an even 12 pieces, instead of 7. It may sound petty, but little things make all the difference in my opinion. We ordered the carrot cake for dessert on the recommendation of our waiter. It was a huge piece, suitabe for up to 4 people, however it was dry and overcooked. Our waiter was excellent, incorporating alot of knowledge about the food selection and bit of humor into our dining experience which made it pleasant. When all is said and done, it will be a while before I return.
Asked for med rare steak & got very bloody one. Sour cream was I believe bad. First beer of 2 was warm. We did mention it to our waiter who did take it off our check! All in all just ok.
Food lacked flavor. We ordered chicken Parmesan and just plain spaghetti and tomato sauce with mushroom.
Service was excellent. Manager visited our table several times to see if we were happy. Food portions great, but I was very disappointed with my pork chop dinner. WAY overcooked and tough to chew. Don’t recommend that dish. My husband had chicken parm and felt it was just “good”. Others at the table enjoyed their swordfish dinner. Not worth a trip from Saratoga for us.
The environment was good, service and our waiter was great! Salad was very good as was the bread. We got the chicken parmesan and the chicken genovese. Definitely disappointed between the wait and the lack flavor of the food. It was not horrible, but just lacked something which is hard to describe. Probably a one and done and won't come back.
Our first time here. The ambiance was out dated but nostalgic of when you were younger going to a family owned restaurant. Seems like many locals come in regularly. Staff is very friendly and prompt. The food was okay, I do recommend avoiding the blackened swordfish as the chefs are too heavy with salt for seasoning. They tried explaining that Cajun spices are spicy but this was a matter of extremely over salting. The manager, Rick was incredibly kind and very understanding to our issue with the dish and comped the meal. Ownership was extremely respectful thereafter as well. We are local to the area and may try again.
With all due deference to an 80 year old establishment, I will remain silent on this one. You can make up your own mind.
The good: Service was A+. Shrimp cocktail - Very fresh. Salads were awesome. The historical aspect of the restaurant. The not-so-good: Bruschetta: Very soggy. Chicken parm - I was surprised this was voted one of the best in the area. The breading slid off of the chicken everytime I tried to cut a piece and the chicken was slightly tough. Other entrees: They just overall lacked in flavor, making the meals just so-so. The salads were expensive at $11.00 and there was no option to get a small side salad with your meal. The Italian greens: Just bland, watery glop.
The booth they put us in was way too small for four people. Our waitress was nice, but a little standoffish, and acted as if she didn't want to be there on a Friday night. The flavor of the food was very good, however, My chicken parm dinner didn't come with either a soup or a salad like I would have expected, and looked tiny compared to the veal parmasan cutlet delivered to the person across the table from me, which literally filled the entire plate. As to the price / value factor, I can not attest since I was a guest at a birthday dinner, so please take my review with a grain of salt. I will say, the chocolate cake we had for dessert was delicious !
The service was very good. I enjoyed the "old Italian restaurant" feel, but the food was not worth the price. The Chicken Marsala was ok, but the veggie side dishes seemed to have been just scooped out of a can and microwaved. 1 bite of each was more than enough. We also tried Ravioli with an order of meatballs. The meatballs were large, but lacked flavor. The salad was fresh, but a small side salad was requested and we were told that they don't do that, so it ended up being quite expensive, since only 1 of us was having salad. We didn't think to ask for 2 plates to share it.
Today is my girlfriends birthday so I decided to take her to a nice restaurant. I chose Verdile's because the reviews on google were good. I was disappointed and I feel like I let my girl down by bringing her to this place. The service is great, kind and helpful. But the food was very overpriced and had no flavor. I got the veal Gallo and when it arrived the breading ripped off the veal as I was trying to cut in. The Veal has 3/4 breading and 1/4 Veal. My girlfriend had the Fettuccine scallops and shrimp. The seafood plate was gritty, as though the scallops weren't cleaned properly or the shrimp. The sauce was white and oily, came in a soup bowl and was drowning the small portion of noodles they gave her. There was no seasoning in it or color just bland. I went based on hearing good things but after my experience I suggest you buy food from a market, go home cook it yourself; I bet you can do better.
We stopped here based solely on the posted reviews. I wish I could echo those reviews but unfortunately I cant. We arrived and found ample parking and a friendly hostess who seated us. We were greeted by a terrific waitstaff that was both polite and attentive. Sounds great so far. We were excited that we found this hidden gem in this undesirable neighborhood in Troy. Which is not uncommon for long established restaurants. We ordered a large salad for 2 that had a good variety of mixed greens and veggies. Our drinks were fresh and the service was fast. Fantastic right? Thats where all that good ended. I ordered the Veal Parmesan with spaghetti and my wife had the Chicken Picotta with the potatoes and italian greens. The Veal as described on the menu says "free range and hand cut" so I was ready for a treat. What I received instead was a piece of veal that was deep fried probably along with some cod which made it taste like fish. Heavily breaded and chewy made this dish pathetic. That along with a red sauce that came on top was simply unpalatable. In my lifetime, I like many of you reading have eaten Italian food just about everywhere both good and bad. I'm only writing this review as the was hands down the worst red sauce/gravy I've ever ingested. As I wasn't eating the Veal after the first couple of bites I focused on the bread and pasta to eat something as I was hungry. I scraped off the red sauce and had 1 bite only to realize the water that the pasta was cooked in gave off a funky mold flavor so I ate the bread. My wife's Chicken Picotta had a watery brown sauce and they used can mushrooms. Her potatoes were dry and tasteless and her italian greens lifeless and foul smelling. I would never write such a nasty review, all truthful of course but in my 62 + years this was the worst meal Ive ever had and ive had plenty of bad meals. $71.00 plus tip and a trip to get ice cream afterward to get the taste out of my mouth.
Pasta very under cook and the shrimp. The carrot cake was over cooked and very dry
Me and my girl friend had the lasagna and we both were very displeased. Only had one layer of noodles which were on the top with very little sauce and cheese. What little sauce there was was very bland with not much taste. Most places the salad comes with the dinner but not here that is a extra 5.95.Next time I want lasagna I would suggest Maria Callenders over this place...We will not be back it sure isn’t like it was years ago.
Service was fine. Place was nice inside.we got chicken parm and fettuccine Alfredo. Both were not edible at all actually disgusting. Would never recommend to anyone
I recently dined here with a friend, and the experience was completely unacceptable. As women of color, we couldn’t help but feel that the lack of service we received was racially motivated. The way we were treated, you’d think we were asking for free food. It’s disappointing to see that racism is still alive and well in 2025. We truly expected better.
Went with my party of 3, we got calamari as an appetizer and it was highly disappointing. The calamari was completely flavorless. We also got chicken parm and spaghetti which was enjoyed, however the pasta la verdile which was in garlic butter sauce was also completely flavorless. The filet was barely edible, I ordered it medium well (due to pregnancy, don't want to take any chances) and it was flavorless, tough, and inedible. Overall, very disappointing and not worth it.
Food is horrible, and tasted microwaved. Bread was cold, everything tasted old. On top of all this it’s expensive. Waited 45 minutes for food once seated.
severely disappointed in the food if i had to use one word to describe it…. Gross We were the first table (if not the second) in the restaurant on a sunday, Excited to try this place the entrance and dinning room areas are very nice however it reeks of old cigarette smell. Maybe due to the coat racks being right in the front but the smell carried even after seating. also christmas music and decorations are still up? maybe they really like christmas. it looked very cute but also looked like they had been forgotten about. After seating we where givin half of a cold loaf of bread, when i say cold i mean it came right out of the fridge it wasent even room temperature. The menu itself is designed very well with plenty of options. However the food is below sub par. Again we were the first customers of the day and waited closer to 45 minutes for our food by the way. I had ordered the bruschetta and Lobster ravioli the bruschetta was just tomato’s completely drowning in balsamic glaze on top of the same bread served earlier, this time toasted. The glaze is so over powering and it leaves the bread soggy. As for my entrée the ravioli was swimming in what i assume to be there vodka sauce the sauce it self smelled good but it was runny and left a lot to be desired, the filling of the Lobster Ravioli was completely mush and tasted utterly gamy and inconsistent, oddly the noodles of my ravioli where also inconsistent as some where cooked perfectly, other hard and chewy and some completely soft and mush. My Boyfriend ordered Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and broccoli, he immediately wanted me to taste the chicken, it was dry flavorless and tuff. Boiling it would have made it taste better, the sauce tasted as if it was canned or jarred and the fettuccine was labeled as made in house, if it is actually made in house it was a very old batch. His take away from his meal was that the broccoli was the best thing on the plate. Our server was shy and quiet but he did what i’m sure he’s been told to do. He told us the specials, and never left our cups empty so we thank you. We didn’t catch his name unfortunately. As a server myself i can understand it’s hard to do your job when the menu is crap and the first impression you give people is cold bread, i can’t imagine the owner cares how that initial impression affects his servers tip at each table. Overall this place looks nice on the outside but when you peel back the layers is gross and disappointing, we will not be returning.
I saw Verdile's plea asking the community to support their family business. Tonight was my second and final attempt to help this local restaurant. On both occasions, my order was incorrect and the two orders came to over $140 and I tipped at 20% (for what, I wish I knew.) Tonight I ordered a shrimp cocktail, chicken piccata with angel hair, a potato and their well-known carrot cake. The shrimp cocktail was fine though the cocktail sauce was lackluster and a small amount given the size of the shrimp. I received the chicken piccata (chicken, mushrooms and sauce) in one container. Instead of plain angel hair, onto which I would have placed the chicken piccata, they sent angel hair with tomato sauce! I was left with nothing but the piccata. I also received no potato. The carrot cake is indeed super-sized and was delicious, except that it was in burnt on the sides! I am beyond disappointed because I threw out much of the dinner and my order was inaccurate or missing. I wish the restaurant well, but for the community to continue to support anfamily-ownes restaurant, the food and service must be accurate and consistent. Right now, I have no plans to spend more at a place that cannot get my order right.
