I am lucky to be staying right across the street from this darling little coffee house. It is so comfortable and cool, not pretentious or snobby..BUT it is the best coffee I've had in Tulum, hands down. This town seems to revel in good coffee, but this relative newcomer has it going on. My only mild complaint, they're not open tomorrow (Sunday). I will be there will bells on Monday morning, my last AM in Tulum, and am planning on bringing some of their delightful roast home with me. Great baristas, love the pour over Americano (long black) and am proud to give Story Horse a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Its a very cute place in Tulum with speciality coffee. The coffee taste amazing and they explain you how the coffee filter process works, which was so cool for us! They got nice options to choose from and the cookies are nice too! We loved this place and will definitely go back soon :)

Pastry is also good and wifi is good to have meetings of work from there, although the tables and chair are not really comfortable. It gets crowded at around 11, but overall the place is a good find. Also, they sell coffee beans that they can grind on demand, which saved me from my coffee needs. I would recommend the place

Buen lugar para tomar un café, la atención es súper buena y el lugar es tranquilo, está chiquito pero muy bonito! Tienen café en grano para comprar, manejan café de Veracruz y Chiapas, compre 2, la verdad me gustó más el “Second Coming” porque el grano de café es color mas opaco y el “Chain Reaction” la verdad no me gustó tanto porque el color de los granos es más brillante, en notas ambos son muy buenos y creo que por precio/calidad están bien (aprox cada uno cuesta $17 USD y vienen 200 grs) si quieres te lo pueden moler ahí mismo o pedirlos en grano entero como lo hice yo. Recomendado para todos los amantes del buen cafe!

I had the absolute privilege of having a flat white here to cure my new year’s hangover, and, just wow. This is everything a coffee shop should be. You can really just stop reading here and go get a cup to see for yourself. Tucked away in a quaint corner of Tulum, these guys specialize in processed coffees, with a little more funk than I’d guess most people are used to—but be ready to be converted. This place is a passion project, and that comes through in the cup. About 90% of the beans in the shop are some sort of novel process (honey’s, anaerobic’s— the works), proudly from a Mexican producer, which is far from the typical washed light-roasts of today’s specialty coffee. story horse slapped me out of that snobishness and reminded me how damn good a funky cup can be. If that’s still not your jam, they’ve got some excellent washed coffees too. On top of the excellent brews, the service was phenomenal. Each and every person was asked how their experience was, and even though I didn’t have a morsel of feedback to give, I’m sure it would have been genuinely taken. I’m looking forward to drinking the 4 bags I left with. Bravo.

Must go in Tulum if you truly love coffee. I always try to seek out the best coffee and coffee shop when I travel and love bringing beans home and truly this place is IT ! First great vibes immediately indoor and outdoor. Tons of cute small seating options and all outside seats were shaded 🙌🏼. The two guys working there were super kind and knowledgeable about coffee and didn’t seem to mind all of my questions. I asked what he would recommend both for beans to take home and an iced drink for there and I’m so stoked about my pour over when I get home. There is a picture of their current limited special batch cold brew and how they serve it attached and was beautiful and delicious. Super complex, bright flavor and it changed as you drank it / temp changed. Wish I could have come back another time before leaving.

Visited Tulum and found this place! If you are in town looking for specialty coffee, check them out. I had an anaerobic pour over, and my wife had a cappuccino. Both were great and were much needed after a few days of hotel coffee. In addition to the awesome coffee, they had very cool locally made pottery for serving and what appeared to be a Saturday running/coffee club! As I typically do, I bought two natural process coffees, a Geisha and Oaxaca, to bring back to Texas with me. We brewed one this morning in our chemex and loved how clean it was. Best place for coffee in Tulum. Check it out if you can. Kid friendly. Will be back next go round!

I have to add my voice to the chorus of praise here. It's a totally top-tier coffee shop and roaster. I found the coffee by some strange coincidence in the USA, and when I came to Tulum, I went to the shop to check it out. I got a Chemex pourover with the Veracruz beans, and it was stellar. They have the standard espresso options and a few other cold beverages. The shop is pretty small, but it wasn't crowded when I went so no problem finding a seat. There were a few people hanging out outside, but it seems like mostly people order for takeaway. They have wifi if you need it, and one of the guys speaks great english. He taught me some important coffee espanol words when I was there, too! Very nice guy. It's a pretty trendy place that's not trying to be trendy. It's just some local people who are serious about coffee and are making their spot inviting and friendly. A couple other notes - I biked over there through the neighborhood. I'm sure some people would say that's "unsafe" but it didn't seem unsafe at all - really. I would stay off the main roads to avoid traffic and be careful at all intersections. They have AC, which was great to have after the bike ride, but they also have some shaded seating right outside. Also, Tupac was on the playlist. Did I mention great vibes? If you're into coffee, don't miss this spot when you're in Tulum!

If you are a fan of third wave or a specialty coffee, this place is a hidden gem in the center of Tulum. Their aesthetic is awesome and so are their coffees. Price wise is a little bit on the expensive side, but it was the only alternative real third wave coffee place I could find so I guess it makes sense. Then they do roast the coffee right there at the shop, which makes it extra special

Best coffee in 170km circle. Come here if you like coffee and espresso. They roast their own beans. They have different roasts to choose from but only for pour overs. They know their art. Today they offered washed bourbon and washed geisha. They even have some international brands to choose from - like apax Labs and Ils. Stunning good. Their espresso is solid Barista work. Keep it up this work and start shipping your beans internationally- I would buy them.

Only open 3 weeks but hands down the best coffee in Tulum. These guys were so kind and attentive, the atmosphere inside was great, if this place was in any other city (London, LA, Vancouver) it would be slammed day and night. We got some iced coffees (check pics) which were immense, they’re trying a new roast right now which has a more fruity acidic feel but I really liked it with milk. The woman who works there suggested it’s better as an espresso but I’m a total coffee snob and it was perfect. Small but great menu. Skilled roasters/baristas. Don’t miss this place.

I visited story horse cafe and while the coffee was amazing—top-notch in terms of flavor and quality—I won’t be returning. The shop is beautifully decorated, with a cozy ambiance and a nice selection of magazine/books to enjoy. However, the experience was soured by the owners’ viewpoint on expats, which made us feel unwelcome. Additionally, the staff showed a lack of responsiveness to inquiries, which made the environment feel cold and uninviting. It’s disappointing, because great coffee can only take a place so far. Customer service and inclusivity are key, and for that reason, I can only rate this place 2 stars. No matter how good the coffee is, I value feeling welcomed and appreciated as a customer.

Escuché muy buenos comentarios sobre este lugar mientras visitaba Tulum. Hoy pasé por un café. El barista claramente necesita mucho trabajo, la espuma no era tan suave como esperaba y el espresso era demasiado ligero. Uno pensaría que un lugar que tiene una máquina tan elegante y una tostadora tan cara haría un café adecuado. Sugiero cerrar por algunas semanas más para practicar, tal vez ver algunos tutoriales en línea. Otra nota: la atmósfera y la ubicación no eran nada especial. Su identidad visual es muy aburrida, nada nuevo y definitivamente no original. Una habitación con una tostadora grande y cara, no estoy seguro de si saben cómo usarla.

El lugar se me hizo muy pequeño, la experiencia debe completarse siempre con un grato servicio y un buen lugar... lástima que lo tienen abandonado. Lugar lleno de hojas, sucio por fuera yárboles enfermemos y eso que soy amante de la naturaleza. Lástima es buen café.
