So happy they are finally open again.

Love how they kept pretty much everything original. Great good choices!

Service was amazing. Maddie our server took great care of us. The food was perfection! I've had garlic fries at a lot of places, but these were the best. They actually tasted like garlic and they weren't soggy. If I could give it more stars I would.

Always fantastic service and great food. One of my favorite breakfast places, perfect for the whole family.

When the original Latiff's was bought out by Pedretti I was worried the magic was lost! However, the food is still great, the service is still great and some of the original atmosphere is complemented by the new motif for a great combination. Bravo to the ownership!

Every visit a pleasure. The waitresses are wonderful and the food is always great. Never disappointed. Been coming here since i was a kid, more than 50yrs, and their high standards and homestyle recipes have never changed. If it ain't broke, dont fix it!

Excellent service and food quality/taste is like home. First time here and it most definitely wont be the last. Cant believe I have never been here untill now. Staff is super friendly and gives you that family feel. I will recommend this place to all my family and friends. To all reading this review .....dont give it another thought.

Every time I'm in town, the trip isn't complete until we've had breakfast here. Three generations of being our family's favorite breakfast spot in town.

True American icon. Excellent excellent breakfast. Homemade pies 😋👌 better than mom used to make. You go to this restaurant is like you walked back into the 60s

Their pie is amazing, their staff even better. The venue is so cute with an old diner feel - would highly recommend to anyone who is looking to support a local, hardworking business.

Food and service were great! I spoke with the owner , told him it was our first time there. Gave me a slice of apple pie to try, on the house. Pie was great! We will definitely be back! I LOVED THE DESIGN/FURNITURE ETC OF THIS PLACE, ITS LIKE A TIME CAPSULE!

Good, all American, diner food. Have eaten here a couple of times now and both times did NOT disappoint! First time, had French toast plate and it was tasty and filling. Second visit, I had a B.L.T. sandwich. The bread was toasted perfectly and the French fries were fresh, hot and of a very, generous portion. I really do like taking a trip back to the late 1960's, early 1970's, by dining in at Latif's. Their original, dated, decore is simple, but perfect since I find myself longing more and more for how things were as to how things are nowadays. I miss the simplicity of an eating establishment that doesn't try gimmicks or more, modern food choices. Latif's is one of a kind. If you want some simple, good, diner food, this is a great place to get it!

Great old fashioned diner, if it's good enough for former president George H. and Barbara Bush it should be good enough for you!

Latif’s reopened this morning, from a far to long absence due to a kitchen fire. Nick and his family were at the helm to welcome back his loyal guests, and I don’t use that word lightly, you never feel like just another customer, you’re always a welcome guest. I was thrilled to see that they kept the same family atmosphere that Latif’s has had for many years. The food was cooked to perfection and the service was spot on, can’t wait to come back! Thanks to all those involved in keeping a Turlock landmark open through Covid and a fire… Sometimes you just can’t keep a good thing down… See you soon, Bruce…

My wife, daughter and sister-in-law were in Turlock for a family wedding last weekend and by chance took a trip into the 60’s. My 16 year old daughter googled “great place for breakfast” in Turlock. Based on Great reviews we decided on this charming old-school dinner. The food is fantastic, but more so we were greeted with a huge smile by the owner. At my age I’ve been to a lot of “dinners”, but never one as friendly and clean! After telling the owner that I sell restaurant equipment for a living he walked me through his kitchen, I was very impressed on the cleanliness. Lastly, it was truly inspiring seeing the wide variety of clientele... everyone from sweet, well dressed, straight from church, 80 to 90 year old ladies eating Swedish Thins to the table full of respectful millennials eating breakfast burritos bigger than my arm! WE LOVE THIS PLACE!

Amazing Customer Service , Love the way they treat you and serve what you need. The Servers and Cooks are amazing what more can you ask for. Will definitely come again.

On Christmas Eve day I called them for a Pecan Pie which is delicious by the way. They said all the pie orders were accounted for and to check back in the afternoon. I stopped in at around 4 pm and the gentleman at the counter said the pecan pies were sold out and that he had few other pies available so I chose one, to my surprise he insisted for me to take the pie at no charge and that was his Christmas gift to me. I just want to say thank you for a delicious gift my family and I enjoyed it, May you and your Establishment be blessed in 2020

The decor hasn't changed since this place opened, it is like stepping back in time, very retro. The food here is comfort food, the chili is made every day from scratch, the rolls are to die for, and they are famous for their pies. This is my fave place to dine in Turlock.

C

Country fried steak was out of this world! The sausage gravy was thick and delicious. Will definitely go again.

Superb place to relax and eat a very clean establishment everyone was great and we were greeted with a hospitality that is rare nowadays , and I’d like to mention the food is the best in town. I recommend you stop by you won’t be disappointed.

E

The place is finally back after 2 and a half years and the food is still great. They really do need to bring back the pies and for those who order pancakes and cannot have too much sugar they really need to have sugar free syrup.

First time today and it was such a pleasure to meet the ladies. Our waitress (I forgot her name) and another lady named Ossie (not sure of spelling) were so nice. I had the lemon meringue pie which was really good. My husband had the Liver & Onions which is something he always looks for when we eat out and he loves it. We are definitely coming back!

M
Mark Macedo

Very friendly staff. Made it clear that the food would take a bit longer than normal because they'd just opened for business, and a very large party ordered before us. It was fine. Then one of the owners came out with home made cinnamon rolls as an apology for the wait, they were amazing. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Great service and very friendly.

Food, service, and atmosphere were excellent. Our waitress was attentive and polite. There were 6 of us, considering it was a packed house on a Saturday morning.

My partner and I visited on a Sunday during the lunch rush hour and let me tell you, the food was 100% worth the long wait. I ordered the chicken and waffles with a side salad, while he ordered the hot chicken sandwich with garlic fries. This was no normal side salad, it had all the good stuff and surpassed my expectations, as I am used to the sad side salads that many restaurants serve. They obviously care about the quality of the entire meal, including the sides. I can say with all honesty, that this is hands down the best fried chicken I have ever had. My partner loved it so much that he was already making plans for us to come back as soon as we left. I will say that their cinnamon roll left something to be desired, but I am also aware that they are known for their pies, not their cinnamon rolls, so our mistake there. All in all I would 100% recommend if you are not bothered with waiting during rush hour.

I attended a Rotary meeting upstairs recently. The breakfast was a wonderful and generous buffet, and still, while we served ourselves, the attendant encouraged us to not miss some favorites. I have visited this club periodically for over 15 years and Latif's always is a welcoming place.

This family oriented restaurant is outstanding and takes you back to the Future! Travis " the owner " is super awesome and cool. 😎 Please check out this restaurant and try their mixed drinks and don't forget to ask for their " garage beer! "🍻 It's off the hook and totally awesome! 👍

Went for breakfast/lunch. I was so glad to see that they kept most of the original look and feel of the old Latifs, just small upgrades that make it even cozier. I noticed lots of beer and wine selections and even an adult beverage vending machine! The food was great as always. Service was great. Will definitely be back!

It’s been a few years since I’ve been here. I will definitely be making more visits here now that they have reopened. Today I had a ham, bacon and cheese omelette along with country potatoes. I also had a biscuit with gravy. For my beverages I had black coffee and orange juice. The atmosphere is very Mid Century Modern. It’s almost like being in a time capsule. There’s not many places left like this.

Great old time atmosphere, fantastic food (the fries are to die for). The server we had was nice but she seemed a bit quick to leave before waiting for us to finish giving our orders (e.g. I asked for coffee and before I could ask for water she’d already walked away).

This was our first visit since the new ownership. We were happy with our experience. Staff was friendly and helpful. Atmosphere was still the familiar Latif's we all know and love, with just enough new thrown in. We will be back.

This restuarant has long time been apart of the Turlock morning breakfast world. The 5am-10am crowd. The food is great and the service was also on point. I'd chalk the experience up to a relatively enjoyable one. I just hope in the future the update the restuarant. The wholesome ripped seats and 70s orange is cute but out dated. Leave the George Bush sr. Seat but update everything else. History needs to also progress rather then decay.

Since my first review Latif:s had a fire just reopened and we tried their breakfast. They need to Google how to make pancakes and Swedish thins both were tough as leather. The best part was the eggs and their choice of bacon. Glad they have been able to reopen hope they do well. Mostly I hope they do better with the food prep. The best part was the waitress she was very friendly. Latif's is a standard in Turlock. Their pies are yummy and the food is wholesome. They have Mimosa's that sound delicious. I will have to go back just to try one. The service was good and friendly.

A
Ashley Cox

It was good. The place is your average ol' diner style gig. We went for breakfast and it was good, homestyle cooking. Nothing crazy good. We were kinda wondering why so many famous people go there. Nothing that crazy good. But it definitely wasn't like Dennys either. Didn't have the mass produced feel.

T
Tom Davanzo

A diner plucked straight from 1970. I love its unrenovated atmosphere strewn with memorabilia of past visitors. The menu is direct and includes all the diner staples. The world famous Chili is on point! The breakfast burrito was laden with potatoes but still delicious. The service was slow but those who are familiar with this place dont expect expedited service.

Latifs is just a cool old place to have lunch. I probably go there twice a year. We take a few students once a year and the kids like a old school restaurant atmosphere. Food is really good. Perfect portion size. Prices are average. Burgers and fries go for 9.95 to 13.95. If you like an old school diner with some history and good food, Latifs is perfect for you.

S
Sanjuana Quiroz

They are friendly, but not sure what the prices are the menu says one thing and your bill says another.that was before it burnt out and closed, now open they serve wine now I'm guessing new owners food is good, waitress was nice, relatable music

T
Tanya

Cool building with an old school diner menu and staff. I doubt that it's been updated since it was built. It is kind of rundown, but clean. My breakfast was good, but I don't think I'd eat there for any other meal. It's the kind of place where regulars take precedence over others.

K
Kim Fast

Can't believe I've lived within 20 minutes of this place most of my life and I only came here for the first time this past summer! Been twice now, both for breakfast and I just love this place! Honestly, half of it is the ambience....old school and unchanged and I'm so glad. Always excellent service, everyone friendly. Food is good and I'm looking forward to trying lunch or dinner here next time. We sit at the counter when we go, makes for good people watching. 😊

Good Atmosphere, Vintage Booths, which takes you back the '50s. The selection of food is great

B

I used to love this place. Like going back in time, but I haven't been since it changed hands. It closes really early now, no more dinner crowd. I used to love going for dinner and seeing a really elderly couple enjoying a meal like they had for decades at this restaurant.

T

Adorable retro style! Too bad they don't have grits but they said they are coming out with a new menu soon. The waffle we had was so-so, but the omelet was good - even the avocado on top of it was perfect. Friendly service which is always appreciated

I really like this place, the food is delish coffee very good and hot! I loved the service but the reason I don't give a 5 start is because they take a very long time to serve the food. If you are really hungry, you have to keep that in mine. I highly recommend this place.

First time at this restaurant. It was very nostalgic and the music was awesome they were playing The Beatles today. Enjoyed the staff and the service very clean and friendly. The food was very good and the coffee hit the spot for Saturday morning. Also learned that former president had sat at the fountain booth. They also make fresh pies and that'll be my next adventure from latifs.

Atmosphere is good, but service and food takes awhile. I got the eggs florentine, but everything was bitter. Hollandaise sauce was bitter and spinach tasted bitter. Menu says toast or biscuit available on request. I requested it, and they charged me full price.

T

It's okay. I remember the genteel matrons in white dresses as server's. There was more home-style comfort food too. Turkey and mashed potatoes or pot roast. Great pies and prices. Just not the same but I wish them well.

We loved Latifs back in the day, always enjoyed everything about it,atmosphere still nice and my son liked his breakfast but sorry to say I didnt like my burger, fries or salad the way it used to taste!? I will say coffee was good but I used to love the side green salad, not the same at all ,or hamburger.

D

Worst cooking of an omelette that I've had in years. I've had lots of problems recently trying to get an over- medium egg cooked properly, so today I tried a scramble. The grill was way too hot to have these eggs in. The omelette was unedible, it tasted like rubber. I advise the waitress who offered to have the omelet remade.... But why would I do that? This one's horrible what makes me think the next one would be any better. Mistakes happened, but the real shock was when I received my bill for $18 hash browns & a single slice of toast...... Because that was all I ate. Nope, I won't be coming back here.

M

First time trying. We have been saying for quite a while we wanted to try it. The food was decent but some of the prices for the portions not so much. Breakfast quesadilla $16 dollars no hash browns or anything & its a small burrito for the price. Combo breakfast was basic size breakfast but again on the pricy side $18 dollars. I get inflation but you can get the same basic breakfast combo elsewhere for less then $18.

The food was ok but the service sucked. The ladies in there did not smile and seamed to all be in bad moods. Did not bring us our check and never came to refill or ask how our food was. For this reason I would not go back or recommend this place to anyone I know.

New ownership. Super busy. Was OK.. Waited an hour for our food. Party of 10. Coffe cups WAYY to small like tea cups not enough bodies to refill coffee. Will be back as I love this place but needs a lil work still.

This place looks very nice. Plenty of room for everyone. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. Here is the reasons we give it only 2 stars. Not trying to be rude just keeping it real. I dined in with two other adults. For one I thought the menu was way too pricey. We sure didn't think when we left there my brother in-law who treated myself and my sister who is his wife. We didn't think he would be leaving short of the 100 dollar bill he had. This breakfast for three costs 80 something plus of course the waitress well deserved a good tip. My order was 13$ on the menu yet the ticket read 14$. My sister and brother-in-law had steak and eggs and linguisa and eggs. They both chose country potatoes. The menu does not say that country potatoes are really potatoes O'Brien. Brother doesn't like onions sister doesn't like bell peppers. The potatoes weren't even done. The linguisa was overcooked and barely edible. The ranch dressing tasted like bottled ranch. We love homemade ranch dressing. Thought every dine-in restaurant made their own ranch. When the bill came we were all shocked! We had 3 coffees, one hot chocolate and a tomato juic. Those 5 drinks were 22.00 dollars! If I want to pay 5 bucks for coffee I would go to Starbucks and get something delicious. So, breakfast for three cost just about a hundred dollar bill. I hope they read this review and fix these issues. When I walked out of Latifs I was still hungry. It's too bad because my brother in-law grew up here and was excited to go to the newly remodeled restaurant. This by all means is not to point fingers at anyone. We just hope they read this carefully and realize cutting corners is not the best thing to do if you want a successful restaurant here in Turlock CA. Keeping it real

Came for breakfast on a busy Sunday morning, food was great but service was seriously lacking but I gave it a pass because it was busy. We came again on a not busy Saturday afternoon and the service was even worse, our server took our order and ghosted us. Unless you’re a local and are sitting at the bar top, plan to be here for quite a while.

Very disappointed in this pie. I ordered a “Little Rank” lemon meringue, and it was nowhere near as good as the original Latif’s lemon meringue pies I’ve had in the past. The lemon filling was clumpy and had an odd texture, which is unacceptable for a 25 dollar pie. Given the price and the long-standing reputation of this dessert, I expected much better. I genuinely hope the new owners take this feedback seriously and bring the quality back to what it used to be.

Didn't feel welcomed from the moment my family and I entered. Waitress never came to our table, but served another table of white guests that arrived after us. I felt like we were the wrong color. I'll never go here again.

What to say about Latif's Restaurant, well it a seat yourself type of place. So of course we sat ourselves. Fifteen minutes later I had to stand up and ask where the waitress was and are we going to be served. Once we were served, the waitress couldn't get anything right. Maybe at Saturday night without partying would be the right thing for you girl. Oh, next time will be better. Gotta go...see ya.

Nothing unique... Burgers are below average. Garlic Fry's had oxidized old used oil smell.

7 of us went there because we like trying different places and non of us had been there before. We were having a great time visiting with each other. there were a lot of people there so we knew it was going to be longer than normal to get our food. We didn't realize 45 mins had passed but we stayed talking. Another 20 mins passed. We were so hungry. We looked at the server here and there but it was just taking too too long. After 1 and 1/2 hours, she comes and tells us that they couldn't find our order and if we wanted to order again. We were so upset and said no. We will not go there again. They really should have given us a free dinner for another day. Very disappointed. I give it no stars because of them losing our order . The food looked very delicious. It was too bad we didn't get to eat some.

I don’t think they throw out old food. We ordered a salad and the chicken tasted disgusting and it was tough and dried out. The roast beef sandwich meat tasted old, and had an odd smell. That order was replaced with a tuna sandwich, and the tuna tasted sour and the cole slaw tasted rotten as well. I’ve had breakfast there in the past but that was decent maybe because that is usually made fresh. I wouldn’t recommend dining here for lunch or dinner. They need to date and discard their food to avoid it tasting Old and rotten. Yes, I have worked in food service and I have common sense.

The food was not memorable, but that racism you can't forgot! Went here for breakfast with my boyfriend (now husband), and you could cut the air with a knife! The waitresses (as in more than one), kept commenting how the "air was thick" right by us. They served other patrons' food before us and kept getting upset with us. We just ordered pie and coffee! I understand having a bad day, but our experience was uncomfortable!

Went here for breakfast on a weekend morning with my girlfriend given the reviews on yelp. And given the fact that we were new in town we wanted try different restaurant establisments. We got seated quickly since the restaurant was not incredibly busy. We ordered some of the breakfast combo and each of us ordered a slice of pie as well, given to rave reviews. The food was really not spectacular or anything and their pies altohough good were nothing memorable or anything to rave about. The thing that irks me the most about this diner is that we felt incredibly unwelcomed by the staff in the restaurant. My suspicion is that I am not of the same race of the entire restaurant including all the customers in the restaurant. We got repeatedly ignored for requests to get my coffee refilled even though the party of 4 right next to us got their coffee cups refilled repeatedly. Waitressess repeatedly walked by us complaining of the "stuffy air" while ignoring our empty glasses of water and coffee. On top of this our service was incredibly slow and the table of 4 next to us got seated later, ordered later but got their food first. While I do understand that some orders take longer to make, we were not ordering something very complicated. It's your regular pancakes, eggs and sausages. And I can assure you that the table of 4 next to us were not ordering bagels with cream cheese. All in all I would highly recommend this place if you are passionate about preserving anthropologically unique societies that are ancient and out of date. So that means don't go there for the pies and food if you are not the same race as the owners and workers in there. Unless of course you really hate yourself.

We loved the original Latif's! It had a hometown feeling, we always knew what to expect and the pies were the best! After Latif's became, "Latif's by Pedretti", it totally changed. I don't think they should have kept, "Latif's" in their name. We went here hoping to have a good experience and add this coffee shop/restaurant to our list of frequented restaurants. Instead we added this place to our list of places to never return to. There were no hometown or comfortable feelings here. The food was overpriced and the "meal" wasn't nearly enough food to satisfy. None of us ate our food, because it didn't taste good. It was quite noisy for a coffee shop or restaurant, sounded more like a bar. I can't think of anything good to say about this place... I guess I can say it wasn't dirty.
