I was told by close family friends that visiting Buranco Winery was an absolute must during our stay in Cinque Terre, and they could not have been more right. Little did my girlfriend at the time know that I had been planning to propose under the lemon tree canopy at the base of the vineyard after a fantastic lunch and wine tasting. I connected with Marlene via WhatsApp before our visit, and she made the entire experience unforgettable from start to finish. She and the chef personally took the time to introduce themselves, and Marlene went above and beyond by helping me arrange a private spot with chairs for the proposal. From the breathtaking views and scenery to the incredible food, wine, and the best service I have ever received, Buranco exceeded every expectation. This place will forever hold a special place in our hearts, and we cannot wait to return. Thank you again to the entire staff for making one of the best moments of my life absolutely perfect.
We found this place up on the hill by chance. Short uphill walk from city center montorosso. Beautiful setting with plenty of space. Olive trees , lemon trees , and of course grapes. You can just visit anytime and walk the grounds , get a lunch or bottle and relax. This is true working vineyard.... I can only imagine the amount of work that goes into making it as gorgeous as it is! We had the set course dinner one land and one sea with the wine pairing. Both were plated nicely and aesthetically beautiful. The steak tartar was tender and nicely flavored and a generous size but the Parmesan cream seemed to lack the flavor I was expecting. The shrimp meets the scallop was cooked perfectly with an apple based sauce which complimented it well. The first plate was amberjack ravioli full of flavor and the risotto tastey as well. The second was the poppy seed tuna which was delicious and seared perfectly. The veal cheek was delicious. Cooked beautifully with a sauce that went perfectly with potato puree and the tender turnip greens added that bite to pull it all together nicely. For me a great dish. All paired with their wines made on site. The desserts were tasty and a nice finish. A limoncelllo to finish. The setting and service were outstanding. They also offer tastings and rooms with breakfast. If you're in the cinque terre you should check this place out....you won't be disappointed.
We loved every aspect about Buranco: the food is phenomenal, the setting and views are beautiful and romantic, and the staff are very friendly and caring. We came twice over our honeymoon trip, and look forward to coming back again next time we are in Monterosso.
We look forward to visiting this restaurant every year. Giovanni, Mary, their daughter and all staff are always so welcoming. The food is exceptional with everything prepared with locally sourced produce. To accompany your food is delicious wine from their own vineyard. The setting of this restaurant makes for a most relaxing evening. We could eat here every night!!
I’m literally salivating as I write this review just thinking about their tuna dish—that’s how good the food was. The chef’s choice sea menu is an absolute must. Every course somehow managed to top the last, and the flavors were unforgettable. And the view? Unreal. If my husband and I ever decide to renew our vows, this will 100% be the venue. It’s that magical. We actually found this gem thanks to Roberto, our amazing guide from the Florence Untold by Bike tour (which I also highly recommend—thank you, Roberto!). Buranco Winery is truly a special place. Do not miss it!
We just visited the restaurant and tasted their wines and bruschetta. The staff are very helpful and wine was pleasant. Even the winery ‘president’ attended our table and introduced himself. The winery is a must do experience if in Monterosso.
We had an amazing dining experience there with warm, friendly, and kind service. The views as the sun set on the hills were amazing. The ambience at dusk in the lush valley was lovely and the music playing on the speakers was so perfect for the time of day. My wife loved the music so much that she sought out the owner to have put it in her Spotify playlist. We began with their house sparkling wine and beef tartare, scallops and shrimp in a wonderful broth, anchovies four ways, and grilled octopus. All were flawless, so delicious. The shrimp and scallops were one of the best things I’ve eaten. For the second course, two of us shared the risotto with shrimp, which was excellent. We accompanied the risotto with their special house white which was luscious. The others had mixed lightly fried seafood, which to me was the star of the evening. The seafood carbonara was also great. We finished with a molten chocolate lava cake and Tiramisu, both of which we all gobbled. The owner brought out complimentary limoncino which was a perfect ending for a wonderful night. So worth the hike up the hill after all the mediocre meals we had in town. Five stars for the food and the lovely people.
Incredible doesn’t begin to describe the experience. Head chef and the host of the home, Giovanni and Mary, came to greet us during our meal. The wait staff, Wilfred, was excellent. Thereafter samples of drinks were shared and a tour provided. Amazing meal and experience. Highly recommend for a stunning setting, great food, and wonderful experience!
We did not here, just walked up for the wine tasting. It's an easy hike just above Monterosso Old Town. There were 4 Buranco wines plus a Limoncino with bruschetta. A gorgeous setting and excellent staff. Beautiful grounds with a lemon orchard and a terraced vineyard. Families with kids could get a glass of wine, sit on the lawn and let the kids run around. Highly recommend if you like wine.
Buranco was a true dining experience! The service and food was excellent, fresh and very flavorful. We thoroughly enjoyed the white and red wine. The limoncello was very tasty too! The walk up to the…

We had a great stay here! A place you must see! Fantastic wine, food, staff and nature. Amazing view! Can’t wait to be back!
A short walk to the winery itself. The original server who was from African descent was amazing (10/10) after that the staff were dismissed and disinterested in what we wanted to order and dis not give a damn their we left
We booked a table for lunch at 14:00 and were seated in a lovely spot overlooking the garden. The place was quiet at that time and the staff was friendly. We ordered cold cuts and cheese (€27), trenette with green beans, potatoes and pesto (€25), and braised veal cheek (€36), along with a glass of red and white wine (€8 each). The food was good - the Parma ham and veal excellent - but the cheese plate was a little underwhelming with only one type of cheese. Overall, a very pleasant lunch. The only downside was at the end, when we were offered a “gift” of homemade Limoncello, which turned out to be added to the bill at €6 each. After pointing it out, the charge was removed after some arguing with the manager, but it left a slightly bittersweet impression. It also felt as if they were trying to hide it, since we were only given the total amount at first. I only noticed the additional €12 charge when I took the itemized receipt myself. In the end, the bill landed on €120, but the saddest part is that what could have been a wonderful lunch was dampened by this unpleasant detail
Overall some high expectations that they did not manage to live up to. The location is amazing and the food was good but not great. Wines were ok but nothing more (the Syrah Cabernet S. would have benefited from 2-3 degrees lower serving temperature). But what made us both annoyed and left a bitter taste in my mouth was that the staff offered us complimentary Limoncino when we asked for the check. Only to then have to argue with the manager when we were charged €12 for this on our initial bill. Shame, what could have been a nice visit became laden with this final act of dishonesty.
Do What a lovely place to go for a long lunch, however the service was lacking. staff seemed confused or actually didn’t care about us. Such a shame as had a long standing booking. Some dishes were…
We preemptively booked two reservations with Buranco because it had been fantastically reviewed and was situated close to our lodging. Our first experience was alright, we booked the Ristorante Buranco Wine Experience, which was slightly vague with what it offered. Unfortunately we found out that our 50€ went towards a wine tasting and seat reservation that would not have been occupied had we not been there (in the peak of tourist season in July). The wine accompaniment to our dinner would have only been 20€, which we could have settled the difference with had there been any other benefit than a reservation. Our second (prebooked) experience was the "Buranco Wine Experience" which advertises "Wine, bruschetta, and a selection of cured meats and cheeses " and a "true wine tour to discover our vineyard and cellar". This was frankly not the case as we proceeded to be sat at a table with just bruschetta and wine. No "assaggio di formaggi e salumi tipici". If the meats weren't available (despite our reservation 2 months prior), the least I could expect was going to be the tour of the vineyard and cellar. We didn't get that either, but instead were told we could "peek inside" to observe the process, which we were promptly ushered away from by the owners husband being told "it was impossible". 50€ per person to be told we were receiving almost none of what we had paid for prior. After our first experience we chalked it up to bad luck, but the inconsistency with the second experience truly settled that you simply won't get what you paid for. The staff was fantastic and accommodated us to the best of their ability, especially when we showed them what the website advertised as opposed to what we were experiencing. Despite this it was obvious they were not allowed to produce the experience we had paid for. The wines themselves were delicious, especially the syrah blend. The olive oil was great too, and if I cared to support the business I would have purchased both. Landscaping, views, and the ambiance were also fantastic, one of the waiters even sang Ave Maria for the crowd. Overall, do NOT preemptively make reservations here. The food and wine are worth it if you choose to walk up, but not worth any additional prices from booking experiences with them. This lack of clarity and correction are the reason I've elected to give this establishment 2 stars despite their staff and product.
We showed up for our reservation early, and were asked to go to the “isle of relaxation” as the kitchen wasn’t open, and were promptly forgotten. We went to the main check in area at the time of our …
Beautiful property with so much potential. Walked up from the town, where we were staying. Amazing outdoor views of the vineyards. But it was a very odd evening. Staff were really young, inappropriate and immature. No one appeared to be in charge. A shame for the chef as food was quite good. They wouldn’t let us order the dishes listed for 2 people only. We don’t like the same things so was disappointing and didn’t seem like a big deal. Red wine was good but bottle served too warm. One server kept trying to speak French to me and was really annoying. Weirdest of all was when we were done, we were taken into a room /office and told to give them our credit card. I never saw a bill just told the total. At this point, we just wanted to clear out so paid it. Would love to know what the story is behind this very odd establishment …
