La Taverna del Pompiere

Located in the historic center of Viggiù, this establishment consists of a small entrance hall with a counter and a corridor connecting three rooms furnished with tables. Along the corridor, you can see display cases dedicated to the Viggiù firefighters, which also contain some products for sale (such as Grappa del Pompiere, T-shirts, etc.). At the end of the room is the slot machine room and smoking room. The establishment features interesting decor, with Lombard terracotta floors, exposed wooden beams, and a beautiful fireplace that, unfortunately, is never lit (which would have further contributed to the unique atmosphere). Each room has a bell to ring to summon the waiters. The staff is friendly, fast, and helpful, always ready to chat with customers. Various bottled beers are available, as well as two draft beers: a pleasant-tasting, non-acidic lager (€4.40 for a 0.4l Italian standard) and a red beer, Menabrea, with a higher alcohol content (€5 for a 0.4l Italian standard). Also available are various dishes, sandwiches, fries, burgers, and more. This place is recommended for dinner or simply to enjoy a few beers with friends.

A lovely pub on the village square; we always enjoy coming here. It has shady seating on the village square. They offer an interesting menu, regional beers, and countless spirits, including speciality spirits.

Excellent retro-style pub...you can also eat first and second courses...I recommend the aperitif...it's inexpensive and there's plenty to eat

A historic venue in Viggiù. Pub-style, with wooden tables and a firefighter-themed atmosphere. Extensive menu with a wide selection of wines. Ideal for a relaxing evening with friends.

A very quaint, welcoming place. A huge selection of alcoholic beverages, some of which are very unique. The sandwich I tried was delicious! We'll be back soon to try other dishes on the menu.

A must-stop at Taverna del Pompiere if you're in the center of Viggiù! You wouldn't know it from the outside, but the place has a decent amount of seating organized into various rooms (you ring the bartender to order). You can sit at the bar with the bartenders and other customers, or just chat if you feel like it. There's a convenient indoor smoking area (at the back of the room) and dart machines. Now considered a historic establishment, you can find an incredible variety of alcoholic beverages here, especially wines and spirits! The selection of hot chocolates and teas/herbal teas/infusions is also excellent. The food is also excellent, with a lovely selection of platters and appetizers! Another reason why stopping at Taverna del Pompiere is always a pleasure is the reasonable prices across the entire menu!
