Second time to Waco; second stop at Torchy’s. Even better than I remembered. Went with the Trailerpark (fried chicken) trashy (queso) based on recommendation, which was an excellent choice. The crossroads (smoked brisket) was also delicious. The line was particularly long, but the worker at the register was friendly and helpful.
Torchy's is always consistently good where ever we go. The location in Waco is great as usual. Be sure to try their queso. It is great. If I had one complaint about this location it would be the lady making the tea doesn't know how. It was cloudy and very strong. We were there multiple times and it was that way both times. And yes it was the same lady. Overall though it was very good.
All of staff at the Waco location were great, but we were there today. I want to give a shout out to the food runner, Gail. She went above and beyond to make sure that we were all taken care of and spend time chatting with the grandkids.
The queso is out of this world good! The chips are some of the best I've ever had st a restaurant... Truly a match made in heaven!! The service was good considering it was rather busy while I was there. Genuinely impressed! The tacos were great sizes and tasted incredible. They were absolutely packed full of flavor. I had the tokyo drift, which was the taco of the month and it is one of the better tacos I've ever had. I'll definitely be going back soon!
Kristian was amazing. Great service and music selection were top tier. Come see this guy and hang out a while.
Torchy's Tacos is always a safe bet for consistently good quality food with a variety of choices for everyone, including vegans. I love their tacos, sauces and their beans, guacamole & queso are some of the best around featuring fresh flavor and spices. Staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant stays busy throughout the day so tables may not get bussed and wiped often enough but there is generally plenty seating.
Hooky hour was awesome! Best bartender Kristian with some yummy drinks..definitely will be back!
Kristian was one of the best!! Service, attitude, commradraderie were excellent. We had a great time.
I love a good taco and this is definitely a must visit restaurant in Waco! First of all, this was by far the best guacamole I've possibly ever had! The tacos are plentiful and they have a great variety of flavors and taco options. I got the Independent and my mom got the Beef Fajita taco!
Perhaps the best tacos I've ever eaten. Huge selection including specials. One mem er of our party had had a version he loved- 3 yrs ago! They worked with him to custom make just what he remembered. Now that is specialized service. Wishing so much they would expand to North Carolina. And they have a great little bar featuring nice local beers as well as margaritas.
Stopped in our way out of town, glad we did! This is not your typical taco joint and if you are looking for tacos 'auténticos' this isn't going to be your option. However, this is a culinary take on the taco and executes very well. Don't get sticker shock by the price of the tacos, they are served on two 5-6 inch tortillas with enough toppings to make two well served tacos. Girl at the register was extremely helpful in walking me through the menu, sharing her perspectives and being kind. She smiled and was courteous throughout, difficult to find with those her age. Ended up ordering 2 tacos and the Mexican street corn as well as a quesadilla for my son. First taco was the Trailer Park and I got it "trashy" which means you top it with queso. It was fantastic! The second was the Crossroads, a beef brisket taco. Super moist and tender beef, full of fantastic brisket flavor! I wasn't a fan of their Mexican street corn. They used yellow corn that felt like it was from a can and did not use any Mexican crema.....wasn't bad by any means, just not 'auténtico' and in this case, I want auténtico! Go....you won't regret it!
I love this place. My boyfriend and I were trying to go eat pretty late after coming back from a trip to see my family and we did not want fast food (as in quick, greasy, frozen). The original place we wanted to go was closed so I thought of Torchy’s. It was delicious. Fresh and hot. The restaurant was also very clean, which was refreshing especially after being out camping. My bf got the taco of the month, “Scalywag” and said he liked it. We both got a Democrat which I hadn’t gotten before but tasted pretty good and my usual which is a Mr. Pink. Ugh, Torchy never fails! I go to one in Waco now but even the one in Houston is delicious. The people are friendly there too (at this location at least). They have a neat system with the tracker as well. Just put the tracker on the table and they will come to you.
This is a good spot to have some good taco's. I like they had a vegetarian taco options. I got the Independent and the Fried Avocado tacos. Both were good. The flavors were different and unique. Something I'd recommend others try Overall experience was good. Mens bathroom was clean. If your not from waco something to definitely try.
This was an excellent place for us to take our grandchildren. There is an outdoor eating area so they could run around when they were finished.
We were looking for a snack after enjoying a wonderful park on the river. Everyone was super nice hear and they had some fun tacos to try. Thank you for taking the time to read my review and please checkout my facebook group making life affordable, like the page, believe in the mission, and let make the world a better place.
Great food. Tasty tacos. Food service was great. Don’t like having to order from a kiosk myself. Torchy’s has lost it personal touch.
Kristian, is hands down one of the reasons we keep coming back. Come on wednesdays for trivia. He always friendly gets to know you. Always available to help even when slammed.
It was very welcoming the food was great My kid did not know what to get so we decide to share some food and one of the employees came over to us saying hun did you not get any she said no I didn't know what to say and the waitress came back with some nachos with some guacamole and we just really appreciated it
Torchy's is awesome. My favorite tacos are the ones with brisket, but honestly, they're all good. Love the salsa, as well. Very quick service.
This was overall a great experience. When we arrived, we were told that it would be about an hour wait before our food was ready but it was finished in about 10 mins. There was a live band playing rock music so people were able to just sit and talk and listen to the music. The chips and queso dip was delicious. The tacos were good and very flavorful and the staff was very friendly and efficient.
As always, the food was delicious. My server Kelly was friendly and attentive, providing great service. Free queso when you sit at the bar is an extra perk. Always ready to come back to Torchys.
Kelly was our bartender - she’s amazing. So friendly and helpful. Would comeback just to see her! But the food is amazing.
Kelly M. Was DAMN good! She was attentive, super friendly, and handled a busy crowd with such ease. Kelly’s positive attitude and great service truly enhanced our experience here in Waco. Please pass along our thanks—Kelly is a huge asset to your team.
I go here weekly with my partner for and each time as been amazing. The food is DELICIOUS and we are still working our way through the menu that has so many options! The staff is amazing and really makes the visits amazing. Everyone is so kind and caring and very hospitable. They juggle a lot so it’d be wonderful for more to staff to join as the crew working here handle so much with so little staff! Food comes out almost right away and it’s so delicious.
Stopped in on a Friday night… service with Kris at the bar was excellent! He was on top of everything and made it a really enjoyable time. We will definitely be back!
Kristian is the absolute best bartender I've had the pleasure to meet and see in yrs. He makes some of the most amazing "knock you socks" drinks I've ever had in my life!! Wow!!! Tonight he had me a Caramel Apple Cocktail". Wow....Best damn drink freaking ever!!! Amazing...OMG!!! Come meet and see him for yourself. You won't regret it!!
Torchy’s Tacos Waco: A Breakfast Burrito That Deserves the Hype Some mornings, you just need a burrito. Not the kind that leaves you questioning your life choices halfway through, but the kind that feels indulgent, balanced, and, most importantly, worth every bite. That’s exactly what I found at Torchy’s Tacos in Waco—a breakfast experience that turned a potentially overwhelming meal into an irresistible, can’t-put-it-down delight. First Impressions: A Hefty Contender When the Breakfast Burrito landed in front of me, my first thought was simple: this is a serious burrito. It had weight. It had presence. With cage-free eggs, refried pinto beans, crispy potatoes, chorizo, green chile queso, and mixed cheese, all wrapped in a warm flour tortilla, it was a force to be reckoned with. My initial concern? That it might be too much. But, like a bag of Lay’s potato chips, after one bite, there was no stopping. The Flavor Breakdown Each component played its part. The eggs were fluffy, the beans impossibly creamy, and the potatoes added just enough crisp to contrast the richness of the chorizo and queso. This isn’t a burrito that blurs together into one monotonous flavor—it’s layered, and every ingredient is distinguishable in the best way. But the real magic happened when I reached for the salsas. The Salsa Effect Torchy’s doesn’t just throw in a side of salsa as an afterthought. The Roja Salsa and Tomatillo Salsa each brought their own personality to the dish. • Roja Salsa: Deep, smoky, and slightly spicy—it amped up the burrito’s bolder flavors. • Tomatillo Salsa: Bright, tangy, and a little citrusy—it cut through the richness, waking up the palate. Alternating between the two turned each bite into a new experience, enhancing different elements of the burrito and preventing any chance of flavor fatigue. The One Miss? Coffee, or Lack Thereof Now, let’s talk about breakfast etiquette. A burrito like this begs for coffee—a dark, robust roast to round out the experience. But Torchy’s didn’t have coffee available that morning. Instead, I had orange juice, which was fine, but it wasn’t the pairing I was craving. Did it ruin the meal? No. But coffee would have completed it. And considering they’ve served it before, I hope they bring it back. Final Verdict: Five-Star Worthy? Even without the coffee, the burrito itself earned its five stars. It was bold, satisfying, and surprisingly addictive. If you’re in Waco and looking for a breakfast that actually delivers, this one won’t disappoint. Just maybe grab a coffee from somewhere else on your way in.
Torchys Tacos did not disappoint!! I tasted the Brushfire and the Tipsy chicken tacos. Both were packed with flavor and a kickstart heat. It was so delicious. I topped them off with two sauces which included the Diablo and the Bacon Bourbon marmalade. The bacon marmalade had me shaking my head because I wanted to lick the cup. Overall, the experience was very relaxed and I definitely enjoyed the meal. I will most certainly return to eat some Damn Good tacos as their sign proudly displays.
We were planning a one day visit to Waco to have breakfast and then visit the Waco Mammoth NM, but it turned out that the restaurant we were planning to visit requires booking few weeks in advance... so we changed our plan and visited first the Waco Mammoth NM and then had lunch. The thing is that by the time (3 PM) we were ready for the lunch, it was too late for lunch or too early for dinner for most of the restaurants in Waco, therefore they were closed. Thanks God we found Torchy's Tacos. I had a Breakfast burrito and my wife a couple of tacos (one Democrat and one steak fajita... the former is like mexican "barbacoa"). My burrito tasted amazing, it was an extraordinary combinations of flavors and textures. They should include coffee on their beverages options.
I was told that I needed to hit up a Torchy's and so here we are. Yes, it's a chain. Get over it. Inside had a few tables that needed cleaning. I got the Green Chile Queso & Chips, hoping it could be a starter. It arrived at the same time as my tacos. So take that into account. Green Chile Pork taco. Delicious, nicely loaded, full of flavor, still needed some hot sauce for kick. Fried Avocado taco. Very interesting, delicious, would definitely have this one again. Damn good tacos. 4.5 stars, rounding up.
Excellent flavor and taste. The lady working the register made two perfect recommendations with the brisket and pulled pork (very spicy 🌶), so give her a raise! The food took a little longer than we hoped but it was a busy Friday night and it beat any fast food we would have had to choose!! Great stuff

Tacos were so delish and the queso and chips AMAZING! The staff were so nice and friendly. Sit inside or outside, can't go wrong with this delightful taco joint.

kiddo love fried alvacado tacos and chips and case no hot deoblos sauce, great location, great employees, always super busy-but well worth the wait-little pricing-lots of seating
I LOVED the customer service!! The guy at the register was patient and knew his stuff... I mean tacos!!! The atmosphere was relaxing and we ate comfortably. The food... I have actually had better but it was still good. My complaint, the BIGGEST problem...the food was not hot...like at all! I always order the Brushfire and I also ordered the Baja shrimp tasty but not HOT. My husband LOVED the chips and salsa but wasnt a big fan of his chicken burrito. Customer service 5, food 3 maybe better hot
The food was pretty good, but not as great as others had hyped it up to be. The staff was reasonably friendly although they seemed a little short-handed. The dining area had dirty tables, and we had to wipe food off our table before sitting down. I will likely return to try other menu items, but I will probably get it to-go.
In general the place was good. But they forgot my order and when I got it, it was missing a couple of items. Another person in our party didn't get exactly what she ordered either. There were several people in our party so I guess it got confusing. Easter Sunday and they were busy so the mgr did come out and let us know there would be a 30 minute wait to get our food. Glad he let us know. I would try them again, and hope it goes smoother next time .
Wrong order, no more lemonades or freshly made drinks, old soggy chip in my queso. Very greasy small tacos. Traveled an hour to come here and ate nothing

Food was great. Service was slow. Whole place needs a really good cleaning.
Food was good as always but the cooks could definitely wrap the food a little better. My stuff was just thrown together in foil. Most of my taco ingredients were not in the taco but smashed next to it. I got it all over me and my car. Not impressed..p.s. I need pico with my taco. I didnt get pico. I need pico. Pico is the best!
Must have been an off night because this restaurant has great reviews. We started with queso and the chips were very stale, almost chewy. I asked the server if they might have fresher ones in the back and she replied “not at this time” or something equally indifferent. The queso itself was meh. The tacos were all covered in their respective sauces instead of the sauces being served on the side, which bothered my son who prefers to leave it off. We were traveling so this wasn’t our local restaurant but it will be a while before we try it again, even at home.
After a fun filled day we were hungry and tired. Torchy’s didn’t have a family meal options so we had to order one by one and it was 11 of us. So of course the order came out wrong after we said we missing a taco twice they started to think we were lying and kept asking to see our receipts. I ended up not eating to make sure the kids ate because the service was not great and I don’t live in Waco. Overall food was ok and we enjoyed each other.
I used to love Torchy's when I lived in Austin so was glad to have them again after a few years. Oh how things have changed. First off the prices have increased tremendously. I know everything has but over 6 bucks for one taco? Get out of here. Secondly they used to put these together like they did it purposely, sauces on the side. Now they are just thrown onto a plate, sauce already soaking everything. Feels like they are just giving you the food to get you out of there. My brisket was cold but overall the taste of both tacos was still good. Sadly everything else was average at best.
Service was great, food was good, but some elements about the restaurant apparently need some TLC. I went to dinner with a fellow introvert only to find that the patio was closed. Not sure if it was due to maintenance, cleaning or what, but my friend and I were disappointed in the limited seating options. Also the soda machine looks and sounds like it working too hard.
Visit at 9:10pm We ordered at the kiosk and grabbed our drinks, but the unsweet tea was draining into the fountain pan. When I asked about fresh tea, the employee said they were discarding it. I pointed out that the restaurant wouldn’t close for nearly two more hours and that I’d like the option of refills. She simply nodded, pushed the unsweet container back beside the sweet tea, and walked away. The food didn’t fare much better. Tacos arrived lukewarm, and even the “fresh” replacements weren’t much hotter. The queso got cold fast and became unappetizing. I usually enjoy Torchy’s, but this visit was disappointing. Service felt indifferent, and the food quality was underwhelming compared to past experiences.

First our corn came with about 4 bites worth so that was disappointing. We also ordered the tipsy chick which we love because of the bacon marmalade which apparently they were out of but we were never told until we asked if they had it and were answered with a rude “no” and then they walked away. Food was good the little that we got for about $5 a bite. Won’t be coming back.
The staff was fine. Nice and Helpful, offered suggestions, etc. Food portions are small. Food is pretty meh/run of the mill. The MR Orange (Salmon taco) is downright BAD, dry...super overcooked and grossly over-seasoned, actually inedible. The other items I got were decent, but nothing great really. All items were small portions.
Self checkout only, problems with the machine. Food finally came out and tacos were cold, cheese wasn’t even melted on my trashy trailer park. Worse torcheys I’ve ever been to.
If you you're a fan of overpriced, underwhelming tacos, you're in luck. *disclaimer* I can only speak to the quality/price of their fish tacos. I've heard good things about other offerings including their queso. I ordered 2 Mr. Pinks [I actually ordered a Mr. Pink and a Mr. Orange, but Mr. Orange was unavailable that day], one flour one corn to go - total came to a little over $10. "Not a problem," I thought, "it's fish, always going to be a little more expensive." The order came and I knew immediately this wasn't going to be a good experience: tiny bag. At first I thought my order had been switched, but I reached in and felt 2 small, tightly-wrapped tacos. "these better be the best tasting tacos I've ever had..." Not even close. First, there was almost nothing but fish and cheese in the tacos [see pictures]. To be fair, the cheese did go well with the fish, but very little cilantro, no cabbage, nothing else really. And, while the fish was decently flavored, the meat was quite dry - definitely not worth the $10 for two. Compare this with the delicious monster meal I got at Fuego the day before: 2 enormous fish tacos with great flavor and lots of toppings (cabbage, sauce, cilantro, etc.); plus, a toppings bar in the restaurant to add all types of extra salsas, lettuce, onions, cilantro, sour cream, etc. - all this, $8 FOR 2 TACOS. Don't even bother with Torchy's - if you're in the market for fish tacos, head straight for Fuego just a few blocks away and don't look back.
Food is delicious per usual but the bartender was rushing me to cash out and eating in front of guests
Every time I have been here, no matter the time of day, staff is unpleasant. Annoyed that I would come to the business to get food, ya know, the sole purpose of the place. Don’t come in if it’s an hour or 2 before close bc you will 100000% get the feeling you are not welcome and to get your food togo and get out. My order is usually wrong (missing upgrades, or sauces) or not fully warm. Order at the kiosk and save yourself the pain of trying to talk to a human and order. I don’t think one order has been satisfactory. At the cost they charge now for a tiny taco....do better. Also everything just needs a deep clean. It all feels and looks sticky. Far cry from the OG staple in Austin.
Yesterday the wife and I went to the bar sat there for about 5 minutes.... All of the employees including bartender. As we got up to leave a waitress came out of the back but she didn't say a word …

Worst tacos I've ever had in my life. I've eaten Torchys in Austin and it was amazing. This? The tacos were inedible. I wouldn't feed this to my dog. Beef and pork was tough as leather and the corn taco shells must have been sitting out for 3 days because I couldn't bite through it. Avoid this place unless you enjoy torturing yourself. On top of this the staff was less than accommodating upon hearing my complaints. Totally unprofessional and could care less about my complaints about their terrible food.
Their tacos have definitely gone thru some changes and not for the best. The quezo is not a melted rich queso. It's thick and hard. Flour tortillas taste like cardboard paper. The chicken meat doesn't taste the same as it used to. I will definitely think twice before going back. It's not good anymore.
Tonight we went to torchys to eat after the game and the worker at the counter was extremely rude to our friend. She received a chicken taco instead of what she ordered, which is fine mistakes happen but she is allergic to chicken so couldn’t eat it. After sending back the taco we could visibly see the worker talking about us and also saying “she knows how to take an order.” We could see and hear her talking about us until we left the building. Again mistakes happen and it wasn’t a big deal to us she just couldn’t eat chicken and it should have been handled in a better way.
I have never had a problem with touches and we eat at them a lot but this experience made me mad. I ordered trailer park tacos trashy extra trashy and some queso. My tacos didn't have queso on them but melted shredded cheese. My queso was good but the chips were so stale that I couldn't even eat them and that's bad cause I'll eat anything. If I didn't stay all the way in Bellmead I would bring it all back and ask for a refund. I'm sorry but this is unacceptable.
60% of seating was available, not a busy time. I always stop at this Waco location when I drive on 35. There was not one clean table, I cleaned one myself. Bathrooms had no soap, how do the employees was there hands? The trash cans were overfilled, what do the employees do here? 6/20/22 around 2pm.
First of all the lady at the cash register was rude and we had to tell her 3 x’s what we wanted! My 2 kids chicken tacos were suppose to have corn tortillas and it had flour! The corn was not as good as usual and it was too expensive for 2 kids tacos, 2 small 1/2 size corn and 2 drinks! It was 30 dollars!!! Are you freaking kidding me! Won’t be back!
They transitioned to a self ordering kiosk and in the process, lost our business. The wait time to order behind 3 people just went from 5 minutes to 15. Good tacos, poor decision. Keep jobs and ditch technology in this situation.
The food was absolutely awful, took over 30 minutes to come out and was overcooked and dry. The so called "managers" were rude as hell, Morgan and Shannon were beyond rude to not only me and my family but to their employees. I saw and overheard Morgan yell at a younger man who was sweet and kind to me and my family. This was beyond a disaster of an experience
I rarely leave reviews, but this experience at your Waco, TX location was completely unacceptable. The service was terrible, and the customer service manager, Shannon, was shockingly rude and unprofessional. As someone who works in the corporate field and understands the value of professionalism and accountability, I would be embarrassed to have someone like that representing my business. Mistakes happen — that’s part of doing business. But the complete lack of respect, poor attitude, and excuse-making from both the staff and management made the experience unbearable. I work long hours, and was looking forward to a decent meal and a smooth experience. Instead, I left frustrated and without any desire to even eat the food I paid for. This location desperately needs new leadership and serious retraining in basic customer service. I strongly urge corporate to take a closer look at what’s going on here before more customers are lost.
30 dollars for 4 tacos that when I get home tacos looked like straight dog food I was very disappointed in this because me and my fiancé thought they would be good considering how expensive and packed they are but I wasn’t able to even feed my child last night because everything I order for her looked like dog food. SMH they need to lower prices on this place or at least give better food service! I would have rather eaten Taco Bell if I would’ve known.
