What a hidden gem! Tucked away on an industrial estate, The Siding Café is a real find, made up of two converted train carriages, one serving as the café and the other as a lovely little farm shop. There’s also a beautiful garden seating area that’s perfect for relaxing with a coffee or brunch. The décor and setting are absolutely first class, and the brunch-style menu is fantastic great variety, quality ingredients, and plenty of tempting specials and drinks to choose from. The cake selection is out of this world too! Five of us dined here, and every single plate was outstanding. We were all really impressed by the quality, the prices, and the warm, attentive service. A wonderful place that’s well worth seeking out! I can’t recommend it highly enough.
Fantastic layout, beautifully done, it has quite a very romantic, classy feel to it. Sadly parts of the full English didn’t quite live up to the overall atmosphere, the bacon was overdone and quite chewy, the fried egg wasn’t runny enough for my liking, and the mushroom was also overdone. However everything else on the plate was done to perfection, and everyone has a bad day in the kitchen and I would still recommend you give this place a try, if only for its sumptuous interior.
Great find of a hidden gem. In an industrial jungle lies an oasis. Two first class train cars are set in a purpose grown garden which provides the menu with fresh seasonal ingredients. Great food, warm welcoming service and one of the best cups of coffee I have had in a very long time. Found out that reservations are recommended. Extra seating was available in the cafe shop and outside.
High standard of cafe in unique experience with investment in a good quality layout, decor and furnishings for a unique experience in the Carriages restaurant and a healthy experience on the outside tables. (Sadly we didn't have time to visit the shop). The wide range of breakfasts with good quality ingredients looked most appetising. We ourselves had coffees with cheese / fruit scones. They came fully warmed with excellent accompaniment of butter and/or jam.and cream respectively. The service was welcoming, polite and attentive from a young staff team.
We had a great coffee and scone here with the kids and grandparents. They also have a great good value kids menu. Big kudos to Molly who works here and her latte art (pictured).
What a find! First visit on Friday - we’ll be back. So well done. Lovely welcoming staff. Relaxed vibe, clean, well designed spaces with a cracking water feature and large planters full of vibrant colour. Sat outside in the sunshine (plenty of shade too) enjoyed delicious coffees & warm cheese scones (good price too - not a rip-off like so many new places these days. Can’t wait to visit the spectacular sounding restaurant 😍
A proper hidden gem on an industrial estate. Really unique cafe with two first class trains stationed around a garden. The food’s great, the staff are friendly, and there’s a lovely outdoor space to sit and relax with a generous portion of cake. Tidy menu with some nice homemade bits to take home in the farm shop. Well worth a visit if you’re nearby.
What a wonderful place and a real gem. We dined there for the first time today and were just blown away. The trains are beautiful, and the decor is outstanding. The attention to detail is remarkable, and the seats are soooo comfortable. The staff are an absolute credit, and the quality of the locally-sourced food is truly incredible. Everyone should know about The Sidings. It's so different and so special. We will be going back many many time sin the future. The Farm shop, in the carriage next to it, is excellent too with a great range of excellent products. This place is a must-visit place.
Worth a visit! Came across some good reviews and were keen to give it a try! Slightly unusual location in a business park, but don't let this put you off. A unique settings in the wonderfully appointed (and renovated) railway carriages. Offering brunch, the menu was imaginative with appetizing twists! Well prepared and presented. Definitely worth another visit!
An interesting train carriage venue served with food and drinks, which is absolutely unique. The staff are super friendly and helpful, the food quality and portions are more than expected; also, the prices are acceptable. We had a lovely time here.
Definitely a ‘stop’ not to be missed. The point is these are beautifully restored authentic railway carriages in a unique setting. The gardens are new but beautifully laid out & will mature into something special. Most farm shops are over priced & over stocked but the shop has lovely fresh produce & sensibly priced goodies that seem to be selected to delight the tastebuds. Loved the miniature railway telling the story of this successful local business. Can’t wait to come back to try the breakfast menu. Follow the ‘To the trains’ signs from the car spaces…… through the gardens……. Plenty of outdoor seating if you just fancy a coffee…
We visited The Sidings near Hereford this morning and had a fantastic brunch experience. The unique setting of dining in a beautifully updated train carriage made for a fun and memorable outing for the whole family. The food was delicious, with quality local ingredients and a well-thought-out, concise menu. Despite the chilly -2°C weather, the team did a great job keeping us as warm and comfortable as possible. Next door, the farm shop in a second carriage offers a lovely range of local and artisan products. I look forward to seeing even more exciting additions as they continue to grow. A wonderful spot for great food and a unique atmosphere—highly recommended! I'm so pleased to see places like this in the county.
What a fantastic find! Not only a lovely farm shop with lots of local produce but a great stop for lunch in the sunshine too. Will definitely be back to try the breakfast and dinner menu!
Suggest you pre-book for breakfast can get quite busy.
Splendid quality breakfast with amazing mushrooms, perfectly scrambled eggs & quality ingredients, all served on piping hot plates! Friendly staff. Chef most accommodating. Ingenious railway carriage dining experience, but the 'nestled amidst scerene landscapes' description is a bit fanciful!! Any tiny delays in service we experienced were just staff getting into their stride in a new environment. Online booking only, it seems. (To allow telephone booking too, would be nice). Excellent wheelchair access (apart from a gravel bit by toilets). Thanks, and good luck with this venture. 5☆
4th time coming here now and it gets better every time! Lovely staff and atmosphere, fresh and tasty food. Never had the cakes or brownies before, but tried them today and those brownies are absolutely gorgeous!
Been meaning to try here for a while. Not disappointed, unique setting in train carriages, food was great quality & tasty. Well priced. Lovely staff too.
Fell on this place while looking on google for a coffee shop. Didn’t expect anything however what a hidden gem it is …. Perfect 😀👍✔️
Went for a treat, a very nice place to have some quality food in a relaxed atmosphere with attentive friendly staff all for a reasonable price, will definitely be making a return visit.
Great breakfast, really good quality ingredients, not cheap but really high quality, so you get what you pay for. Yes, I would recommend.
Lovely brunch. Very cool atmosphere with the trains.
great and a lovely surprise great girls working food was ace and nice shop
Had a lovely breakfast with friends. The sun was shining so sat outside.
Definitely worth a visit. Lovely food and shop has lots of lovely local produce .
Great venue, amazing food, well worth a visit
The Sidings is a beautiful setting. Two railway carriages restored to their former glory. The outside courtyard contains additional seating in fine weather. Raised beds contain fruit, veg, and lovely verbena, and it's a really good use of space. The staff are lovely both in the cafe and the farm shop. The shop has a variety of goods for sale, all really good quality. It's worth a visit, and we will definitely return.
A lovely hidden gem. I had never heard of this place before. A small industrial estate off the Worcester Road doesn't sound like the ideal setting, but it works. There's plenty of parking outside. You go in through the gates to lots of raised planters with some lovely fresh produce, a few benches dotted around and a lovely mirrored sphere water feature in the centre. Just beyond are two old railway carriages. One is a farm shop selling fresh produce, bread, cakes, drinks etc. The other is a restaurant. The carriage itself is very luxurious, warm and comfortable. The seats were superb. The food was lovely. I had the full English which was good for the price the sausage in particular was gorgeous. My Father in law had eggs benedict and my wife and mother in law had the pancakes with fruit and cream. We each had a hot drink. I had a pot of tea. Tea pigs tea in a branded "The Sidings at Carriages" tea pot. Everything was great. The atmosphere was busy but not too loud, the staff were friendly and professional and the carriages were wonderful. It was all this as well as the attention to detail that made our visit so special. The cutlery and crockery were all great quality, the napkins were also very good quality which really does make a difference. All in all, a little treasure that's well worth a visit
What a wonderful surprise!! Just experienced a quick lunch - food was delicious, staff were very helpful and friendly. Ditto for the Farm Shop. One small, but important criticism of the website - the photo of the menu is out of focus and cannot be read. But we will be back again !!!
Spotted this place on the internet, otherwise we would never have known it was there. It was worth the effort trying to locate it using Google maps. It is a truly lovely place to have lunch with family and friends.
Really good coffee here and tasty chocolate brownie. I love the veggie and herb garden. Staff were friendly too. Highly recommend
Just beautiful! We love to go here :)
Excellent place - very quiet and calm, even though it is in an industrial park. Good menu - a range of interesting, varied dishes with a large selection of vegetarian options. Massive slices of cake - superb coffee. Dogs are welcome in the outside area, but not in the cafe carriage or the shop. Highly recommended.
Stopped at The Sidings for a quick lunch with my wife. Had a lovely time, the carriage is a unique setting and has beautiful inside. We had some lovely food (pancakes/ smashed avocado on toast). Really nice experience, we will be back and would absolutely recommend.
Impressive conversion of railway carriage. Very comfortable seats and feeling of some luxury. Popped in just to see, but tempted to stay and have a coffee and a scone. The only downside was a 15 minute wait for the scone, our coffees already consumed, I had to enquire, after which it appeared in a flash, I think something was wrong there.
We celebrated our legal ceremony by going for some brunch. We hadn’t been here before but it certainly exceeded all expectations. We were gifted some prosecco and cake as a congratulations which was so lovely. The service was great, as was the food with my now Husband saying, the hash browns were “the best he has ever had”! We will definitely be coming back.
A lovely dining experience in an old, first class railway carriage. We went at 2pm for lunch. The menu concentrates on brunch type food which was delicious. We both had a ploughman's. There was only coffee cake or cheese scones available as a dessert when we went. You will need to bear in mind that the carriage is up steps (as you might expect) and the tables for 4 people might present a challenge to get into the window seat as the arms between the seats are fixed (do not lift). There is a second carriage with bisro tables and chairs which serves the same menu, and a farm shop with a cute little model railway. There is a large outside garden with more seating too.
Took my sister for a lunch time treat as she has never been. Food was amazing as was the service as usual. It is an interesting place to visit and unique for Hereford. Tucked out of the way on an industrial estate in whitestone but a pleasure and a joy to visit. The gardens as you arrive are beautiful and obviously well managed then the food and atmosphere of the cafe continue to excite. Once you have satisfied your appetite you can cross to the shop where you can purchase some wonderful treats and watch the miniture railway before leaving through the lovely garden area and back to the world. A great little place to visit for locals and tourists, a proper treat.
Well having breakfast in a railway carriage which doesn’t go anywhere - novelty but the food and service was exceptional. All local produce, a business which supports the local community has my vote. Will recommend to anyone who wants that tasty good food and the coffee is good too!
Friendly, attentive staff who never made us feel rushed. Great locally produced food and drink, all served in the beautifully restored first class carriage. We will definitely be back!
Had no idea there was such a great cafe and farm shop on my doorstep! Although tucked away on the industrial estate the cafe and shop (in railway carriages) is set in its own little oasis. Plenty of seating outside. Food was delicious with an excellent menu choice. Service excellent. Everything of a very high standard. Will definitely return.
This was me and my wife's first visit, which is amazing the fact we only live down the road. Anyway it was easy to park, nice area where it's tucked away in the business park. Toilets are outside if you need them. Very well presented and laid out. Lovely members of staff who served us as well as the farm shop. It certainly is a very unique experience and certainly met expectations. We was quickly sat down and the drinks and food menu is very much to the point as you'd expect and there is something for everyone. Service very quick and very enjoyable experience. I had the vegan French toast and personally for me with the apple compote it comes with was too over powering in flavour. You couldn't then really taste much else. As it served with maple syrup, cream and a crumble everything is sweet and you are looking for something a bit salty or a different sort of texture which was lacking. Tea very good as well as the cappuccino my wife liked. My wife then had the English breakfast which she loved and was very happy it came with more than 1 egg. Everything very well seasoned and balanced. If Google allowed I'd give 4.5* not the 4 I'm doing. We shall certainly come back in the near future and try the restaurant.
3rd visit yesterday for breakfast but my least favourite as scrambled eggs weren’t as good but we are all human and these things happen from time to time. That said I’d definitely would recommend this very different dining experience. Food good and staff always friendly and helpful, lovely outdoor area too.
An amazing transformation in ad both luxury seats on a modernist railway carriage. Service was very pleasant & helpful. Do try the ‘farm ‘ shop in the other carriage.
Quirky little restaurant serving brunches and cakes with hot beverages or cold along with bubbly too. The staff that served us were all very lovely. My friend and I spent a pleasant couple of hours having food and hot beverages whilst enjoying the ambience and chatting. I don’t think there would be a huge amount of savoury food on offer on current menu that is suitable for vegetarians. I was very tempted by mushrooms on toast until I discovered there was a meat ingredient in with it. Be nice to offer a vegetarian breakfast as well as carnivorous one. The farm shop is nicely set out and we had a good browse in there once we had finished the food. I would have liked like to see the pastries & goods covered -away from people/children’s hands. I did buy some pre-packed cookies by Frank which were delicious.
Gorgeous train carriage venue serving drinks and light meals. Lovely coffee, although it was an extremely small cup. Pretty gardens and a delicious farm shop too. Would definitely go again if in the area.
The servers were very friendly and were smiley about my coffee fussiness. I then had a delicious chocolate tasting flat white.
My daughter and I enjoyed afternoon tea, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. The railway carriage was beautiful, and charming. We also enjoyed the farm shop which had a darling miniature railway. We will be back soon. Thank you.
Have enjoyed our visits to Carriages so thought we would try the Sidings, a little disappointed
This has the potential to be a lovely place to go for brunch or cake and coffee. A beautiful train carriage. Went with my In-laws on the occasion of their Diamond Wedding anniversary (60 years!) for a special treat However we didn't stop. No vegan cake at all, not even in the farm shop and only one vegan option on the menu... . Smashed avo. Really disappointed. Disappointing especially because I had specifically asked on Facebook if they had vegan cake.
Gorgeous setting, a very long delay in ordering and receiving the order and the wrong order was given to us.,Staff very unorganised, also didn't know what they were doing. When it comes to paying, they had put extra things on our bill which belonged to the table behind, also pricing on the menu isn't upto date. Also the seating inside isn't for everyone,my Dad being an older gentleman struggled to get in the seat and other people were told they would have to sit outside because they couldn't get in the seats, very badly planned out the armrests should move so people can get in. The scones were very dry. Will not be coming back and wouldn't recommend.
