You can tell she genuinely enjoys what she does—she made us feel welcome and taken care of without ever being overbearing. Stopped in at Black Bear Diner in Willows and had such a fantastic experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm, friendly service. Ellen took excellent care of us—she was attentive, welcoming, and made sure everything was just right throughout our meal. The food was exactly what you hope for at Black Bear Diner—hearty comfort food, generous portions, and absolutely delicious! Everything came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. We both got prime rib on Friday. It was pricey and thin. But tasty enough. Potatoes, mashed, were delicious. Veggies roasted and hot. Had to reheat the prime rib as it was cool. Price for two and one tea $70 ish with taxes and tip. Service is good. I'd recommend other food than prime rib here. Spend that kind of money on a better cut elsewhere. I recommend the restaurant as I've eaten there multiple times. Chef and staff work hard.

Food and service is exceptional. Staff is very friendly and my Bacon Cheeseburger was out of this world. Prices are awesome comparatively to other restaurants. It doesn’t get better than this The staff is the best part of this place. Amazing! 10 stars ⭐️

I have never been disappointed with a black bear diner. The waitress who helped me when taking my order sat down at the table and was 100% focused on what I was ordering. I've never had that experience before. Made me feel very welcome. The food was delicious.

Great food and service. Nice and cool atmosphere. Was 111F outside and it was very pleasant temperature inside, very clean and well organized. The food was fresh and hot, fries were freshly cooked and so it was the burger. Great size portions. Five star service!- the ketchup bottle was almost empty (could tell by the sound) and the lady who served me (unfortunately can’t remember her name) promptly brought me a new ketchup bottle without even being asked, definitely great service. Took chocolate cake to go which was really tasty too. Im not local and not sure how is the usual service daily but that was really exceptional service.

My husband, dog, and I were on a day trip Redding to Sacramento and back in our electric car. When we hit Willows, we only had 36 miles left in our battery. The chargers at the nearby Walmart were all taken or broken. Black Best was our saving grace! Not only did both of the EV GO chargers out front work, Black Bear had a pet friendly patio. We enjoyed bear-sized portions of a turkey club sandwich and the crispy chicken club salad. Both meals were great, filling, and we had so many leftovers. We didn't need to worry about dinner later that night for sure. The waitress (name not on receipt and my pregnant brain can't remember) was extremely kind and helpful. She was very accommodating. She had to go boxes ready to go before we even requested them And she put some ice water in a to-go cup for me to have on the final hour plus of our drive home. All around an excellent experience. 10/10 would recommend to anyone traveling through Willows.

Food: Amazing and very generous portions. Price: Fair, especially once you realize what you're actually getting for what you pay. Service: Very friendly, interactive, and fun staff. Incredible manners and just fabulous people. Ambiance: It's delightful, rustic, quaint, like a lodge plucked from a time the world has sadly lost. It has become a family tradition stopping here on the way home from taking the kids to see their grandparents. Everything from the staff to the environment has that old timey "we are here to take care of you" vibe, like a 1950s diner where everyone knows your name. We are always stuffed and the food is always incredible. Here's a picture so you can see the burger I got, which was amazing! My wife said it was ridiculous 😂

Sad to say I had high hopes for Thanksgiving dinner at blackbear diner Which ended up being the worst meal I’ve ever had in a restaurant. Two of us had the prime rib dinner, Two Had the turkey dinner and one Ordered the macaroni and cheese. The Loaded potato soup had a metallic salty taste that reminded me of instant mashed potatoes. The four of us that had the stuffing asked to have it removed from the table because of the smell and the chemical taste. It tasted as if it had been sitting on the shelf for years. The prime rib was mediocre, warm and tough. The mashed potatoes were lukewarm with a white gravy. Turkey dinners seemed halfway decent except for the stuffing and the macaroni and cheese was cold and like something you would’ve bought From the deli at Walmart. Overall, for the other cost $167 I would’ve been much happier going to Denny’s and spending half the amount. So very disappointed in blackbear diner in Willows California.
