Recensioni di Solid State Woodside
Came here after eating at Queen's night market. Great selection, nice atmosphere, bunch of pinball games in the back. Close to the subway too.
My favorite bar in Woodside! Great beer, amazing staff, and always a good time. Love the monthly drag shows as well.
Good beer selection at reasonable prices. Lots of games to play and pinball machines. Nice mellow vibe. Good place to actually have a conversation.
Dee was the absolute best!! Most friendly and the best bartender
Nice atmosphere and not too loud. Bartender seems cool and not overly talkative. Good place to hang with friends and play boardgames. Parking is a pain sometimes in this area though.
I just went in there last night. The beer selection was great and all from NY. I met the bartender, Dee. She was great, too. I was surprised by just how awesome it was in there. My girlfriend and I are going back soon, because she also agreed that it was great. So overall: great!
Great atmosphere and the crowd is very laid back. Great games including a French Canadian game called Krokinole! Best selection of NY beers in the area including local ones. Also, Karu cafe across the street is a really good Venezuelan restaurant and will deliver here. Two thumbs up.
owner is super friendly, not too loud so it's a good atmosphere to actually get to talk to your friends. played a big bang song an we got pumped during jenga. tasty drinks
Amazing staff, super friendly and willing to go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and safe. The owner (Cory I think) and Dee the bartender are some of the best I've ever encountered. Amazing cocktails and beer selection. All around great place
Really enjoyed my first visit here and will be coming back. Excellent beer selection, and fun pinball in the back. But what's better is that the overall vine is very warm and inviting.
Great place to grab a beer or cider l. They also carry Non-alcoholic options, which was a plus. Lots of board game options. Overall, great way to spend a night with friends.
Great place to have a drink and socialize!
Amazing rotating selection of tap beers, service is always so warm and welcoming. Pin ball machine collection is great touch
Cozy, good beer selection, good machines, conveniently next to the subway. Only got to stay for a little bit since my dumb self managed to perfectly kick one of the stools by the machines hard enough and at the perfect angle to rip off my toenail, requiring an urgent care trip. Closed toe shoes suggested.
Fantastic craft beer selection and great for groups looking to play board games or pinball while hanging out. Only suggestion I would make is for them to add a tv or projector for sporting events and it will easily be my favorite bar in the neighborhood
They have everything here. 20 drsdf beers, barcaxe, board games, trivia nights, and you can bring your own food here! If you don't mind watching K-Pop on TV then this is yori spot. The owners are cool. If you hang out there for a while they're considered your friends.
Top tier pinball bar in NYC. The selection of beers and cocktails is just as excellent as the selection of pinball machines. Friendly staff and good atmosphere.
Dipped into this local bar on a random tuesday and walked away with my new bonafide favorite neighborhood hang. Gems like this in New York are not to be missed! Great bar games, some I've never even heard of before!
Surprisingly spacious, huge selection of board games. They had a few ciders on tap in addition to beers. Beer selection was super interesting-not just IPAs, but even a sour beer.
Gose on tap! I love it, so sour and delicious. A friend led me to this gem, and I found my favorite pinball game... GHOSTBUSTERS! Of mention, Tales from the Crypt, I didn't get a chance to play this or Hungry Hungry Hippos, but I'm sure to be back. I also want to make sure my art on the wall in the bathroom (DIY chalk) has not been disrupted. We had a blast. Check it out!
One of the best places in NYC. A collection of amazing beers, pinball machines, and awesome staff. Even if you're just visiting Manhattan, it's worth the short trip by Subway to visit!
Great place to have a drink with friends, staff and other customers are very friendly to talk and hang out with, pinballs machines in the back are a great attraction, lots of table games and you are able to bring your own food or order in.
Really really good beer selection. Amazing pinball machines hiding in the back. Tons of board games/card games available.
Great neighborhood bar that is very unassuming. There's a good local beer selection and they have a cocktail menu. Since food is limited to hotdogs, you're able to order in. There's seating for different group sizes, board games and arcade games. Good for all weeknights and weekends
This is an awesome place to chill out by yourself or with a group of friends. There's a great beer selection on tap and tons of board games for your choosing. The secret of solid state though has to be it's 8 pinball machines located in the back. The machines are in great shape and really well taken care of. Bring your quarters!
Cool relaxing space and great location, close to Manhattan right off the 7 line. Terrific selection of delicious and unique NY State brews. The owners are warm and gracious. Great space for relaxing solo at the sleek wooden bar, or with friends playing board games/pinball or celebrating a special occasion. Highly recommended.
Great beer, great games, great bartenders. Thanks for keeping classics in the world. More places need this. Mata Hari rocks!
I love all the pinball machines (Yoshi) and board games. Love the atmosphere. BYO food as long as you take your garbage out. They are next to an amazing taco place. Who can go wrong with THEIR Impressive beer selection and TACOS! Drinks are served very quickly.
Great drinks and beers on tap. Love the pinball machines!!
The best bartenders! Love the atmosphere and beer options. If you like a chill, friendly and local bar, this is the place to be. They also have trivia nights and other monthly events. Highly recommend!
Great hangout place in the neighborhood, great character, music carefully kept at an entertaining level which still enables conversations, classic pinball machines in the back are fun, and a great selection of board games provide even more opportunities to enjoy a night out with friends! Impressive beer selection and a taco place right next door if you want a bite.
Edited: after having lived here for 9 months, best bar in the area hands down for beer. Food options aren't great, but you can bring in your own food. Go here. Love the idea of this place: New York state beers only. No food beyond some chips and hot dogs/sausages, but the sausage was great and the staff is friendly.
Super awesome bar with a great vibe and cool staff. Come for the incredible selection of New York State craft beers on tap and stay for the seven different pinball tables and huge selection of board games. I kind of want to live here.
This bar has an amazing ambiance and great energy. The co-owner/bartender Corey is a very friendly and very knowledgeable person. The bar has a nice atmosphere and tons of board games. There is a wide selection of beers, IPAs and ciders. There a cocktail menu and if there is nothing that sparks your interest, Corey will mix something to your taste. There is no place like this in Queens. I highly recommend it to anyone!
I honestly had an incredible experience at Solid State. The bartenders were super knowledgeable and really seemed familiar with their own beers selection (which seemed like a curated menu highlighting local breweries in Queens - Singlecut, Big Alice, KCBC, etc.). I asked for help choosing, they asked a few questions, and I got exactly what I'd been hoping for. Not at all crowded on a Friday night but certainly not empty - the majority of the (pretty cozy) seating was occupied and the noise level was perfect (could hear everyone I was with without shouting at one another but it also wasn't quiet in here). They have a really great boardgame selection, too! Good mix of party, casual, card, strategy, etc. To name a few that caught my eye for being unusual to find but make for great beering+gaming options: Coup, Apples to Apples, Telestrations after dark, Ticket to Ride, a DnD starter set (?!), Unstable Unicorns (that's what we played), What do you Meme, etc. Overall just a great experience and will definitely continue being an option for dates and casual meetups.
Very chill and cozy place. If you are looking for not-too-crowded, good music, cheap drinks and games too pass time, this is the place. They have board game collections as well as 7 pin ball machines. They don't have any food here however they allow outside food which is a plus for me. Awesome time spent.
Definitely my new favorite spot. Reasonably priced drinks, cool, comfortable vibe and challenging bar trivia are a winning combination. Pinball machines, a selection of board games and even chalk to write on the bathroom walls also contribute heavily to a very pleasant atmosphere
One of the best bars I’ve ever been to. Great drinks, very chill and friendly staff, pinball machines in the back and board games for everyone to enjoy while you drink.
Ended up here after getting rained out of a Mets game--turned out to be a very pleasant experience for me and my friends. They have a really diverse selection of pinball machines, and we had a great time enjoying some beers and playing some casual pinball.
An amazing hidden gem in Woodside! Has a variety of craft beers on top that are constantly changing, board games, pinball and an amazing diversity in music. Corey and Aldo have always provided an amazing experience and I always look forward to coming back.
Love this place! Plenty of room to spread out with your friends in the back with a game. They have a great selection of games you can play or bring your own. Love the NA IPA they have.
This is my favorite bar in Queens. If you ever find Barcade or Two Bits hectic or boring, give Solid State a try. Its laid back, easy atmosphere pairs perfectly with its excellent beer selection. They always have high quality IPAs and stouts, which is always a huge plus for me. In the back they have a great variety of seating, as well as an awesome lineup of pinball machines. They even have board games! There's nothing like downing a delicious local craft beer while sinking someone's battleship.
This is my favorite bar in Woodside and is a great alternative to all the local Irish Bars. From the pinball machines in back to all multiple shelves of board games, it's definitly with a trip. The best part for me....no television. Although the have a projector to screen things like the Oscars. If you're a regular they have the occasional buy back, which is really thoughtful. Solid neighborhood bar, great owners, staff and just overall good vibes. Totally worth a visit.
Such a fun place! The beer selection is always changing so I never get bored of the same old stuff. The staff knows their stuff and gives wonderful recommendations. Really a Brooklyn/Manhattan feeling place in the home away from home that is Queens
Great atmosphere and just all in all a cool place to hang out. Also great selection of beers, board games and pinball machines. To top it all of The bartender has an awesome cowboy hat. Enjoy and cheers!
Great local beer selection that's constantly changing, great bartenders, great board/card games selection, pinball in the back, and a small but increasing variety of food (they also allow byo food so far, and there are several decent food places within 2 blocks). They don't have a TV constantly playing sports, which is nice, although they have a projector screen they bring down for really big events.
Great neighborhood bar with awesome beer selections. Bar tenders are super nice. Games and pinball. One of my favorite spots
Amazing beer bar, with cocktails (and mocktails). They have great pinball machines in the back (which are very reasonably priced), an extensive boardgame collection, and a spectacular craft beer selection. All of the bartenders are friendly and know their product well, so they can give recommendations. Easy to get to from the 7 train and you can get food delivered here.
Once upon a time I lived in Woodside, and what a delight it was to happen upon Solid State on a wayward stroll. Easygoing atmosphere, local beers, board games, pinball machines, BYOF. I'm wont to sing its praises, but also selfishly protective of its under-the-radar charm.
Great bar with 15+ taps of local/regional beers and ciders. Pinball machines and board games too, no TVs thank goodness Happy hour M-F until 7pm
This is a great neighborhood bar with friendly staff and great cocktail menu. The atmosphere is playful and chill. Our group enjoyed playing boardgames while drinking.
One of my go to bars to pregame or just hangout. Theres hundreds of board games and card games available. All fairly new. The drinks are affordable. They have events throughout the seasons like pumpkin carving and such which are usually free. Theres pinball machines in the back super fun. They play really good music even kpop. And the owner is super cool and inviting.
Just started coming here after a co worker informed me of its existence. Great bar with a wonderful selection of beers on tap. The pinball tables are very well maintained with prices @ 2$ for 3 credits. (I believe) also (I hope every Sunday) an amazing bunch of people put on one heck of a drag show. This is a must go.
Amazingly priced drinks. Great bartenders. Awesome vibes. One of my top choices for bars in queens!!
Love this place. The Sunnyside Sling cocktail is awesome and I enjoy the beer selection. You can bring in your own food which is a huge plus for me. The board game library is great, the bathrooms are clean, and the staff is friendly. I only wish the lighting was a bit better. It makes it hard to play board games in such a dark room.
Great bar. Extensive craft beer and cocktail menus, both frequently updated. A nice supply of tabletop games plus lots of pinball machines. A very welcoming place. Love it
Nice, hidden bar, and this was on purpose as the owners tell it. They want the bar to not stand out so much from the front, but the insides are definitely out of place and completely different from this area. There is a great selection of beers on tap, with tons of bar games, and 6 or so pinball machines. Come for a good time and hang out with friends. There are plenty of good, cheap food options nearby so you won't be hungry.
Heaven on Earth for pinballers and an oasis for beer lovers. Wonderful staff and clientele. This is one of the best places to go in Queens, hands down. Food is five stars because you can bring your own!
I hosted my birthday party at Solid State, and had a wonderful time! I gave the manager a heads up - even though they were expecting another party, they worked with me so that I could still have my party. The staff were super helpful, and my friends and I enjoyed the excellent cocktails (as well as the extensive beer selection). 10/10 would do again.
Lots of space to sit and play games. Excellent pinball tables and weekly trivia. Great beer bar and they do cocktails as well
No food. Pinball machines and a friendly staff/great beer list. Fun bar.
The bartender that was there around 5pm on Monday 1/12 was awesome!
Celebrated new years and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming! The beers on tap were great!! 💯
This place is fantastic. Excellent drink selection and all time great pinball machines in the back. The bar staff and owner are also super friendly. So glad to have found this place.
I finally checked out this bar after living here on and off for years. Nice and chill spot. Very cute and dimly lit inside with board games and pinball machines to play which I found extremely unique. The highlight of my night was meeting the bartender, Dee. She was adorable and very sweet. She's very welcoming and accomoodating and extremely friendly.
This place is fantastic. Service and drinks are great and the pinball selection is good. The only down side is that sometimes other people want to play Godzilla, and my parole office says I’m not allowed to fight these people. Trivia is fun. I pick funny team names but no one laughs :( The bartenders and customers are great people to hang out with all night and the owner, Chris, is a great guy. Love y’all
Dee was aaaamazing. She totally schooled my friends and I on alcohol, and we had a lot of fun conversations. I threw some vague description of a drink that I was in the mood for, and I was given something delicious. Thank you for entertaining my nonsense 🫡😆 The bar was very clean and I love that you can bring your own food in (but make sure yall clean up after yourselves!) My only complaint is at no fault to the bar at all. Guests don't know how to treat the board games right! If you patrons ever find a game in there that has all the pieces, PLEASE don't lose them or move them around! I had to use the Pirates of the Caribbean dice for Yahtzee 😭 Overall, I had a great time. I want to see what trivia night is all about.
For a Saturday night, this bar was pretty cool. Located in Woodside, Queens, it’s a local gem that I would definitely recommend. They have a lot of games available, making it perfect for groups of people or couples. The pinball machines add an extra layer of fun to the evening. Whether you're looking to hang out with friends or enjoy a casual date night, this bar has got you covered. Great atmosphere and a good time overall! This is one of my favorite bars for a great craft beer selection, board games, trivia nights, and pinball. They have 8 pinball machines in the back - with new ones occasionally added into the rotation - as of 12/24/21, the ones I played were Indiana Jones, Tron, Deadpool, and Guardians of the Galaxy. All games only take cash and usually have 3 credits for $2. They also have a ton of board games and card games to grab and play at the tables. Local craft beer selection is top notch (they have both drafts and bottles also on rotation) and they also can make cocktails if that’s your preference. If you want food, you can either order delivery on your own to the bar or just pick up food around the area and eat it at the bar. If you’re in the area looking for a fun place to hang out with friends, I highly recommend checking out Solid State.
Only went here on a Sunday and it was pretty low key but I loved it. Lots of space, and room for playing games while sampling all the beers. I'm a little annoyed that they think they're too good to serve Coors but have Miller High Life, but I understand that's my personal taste and will not detract a star for it. But seriously guys...Miller sux. 😝
This place is great! Lots of local beer on tap, and great mix drinks as well. The design of the bar is fully accessible which is super awesome - ramps and enough space that someone can easily navigate. I love all the pinball machines and games. I wish there was a classic photo booth or gumball machine tho. Really fun and great bar, very friendly and nice co-owners and bar tenders. There's no sign outside of the bar advertising it, but a nice fancy door shows you into the place. Don't miss it!
Minus one star for dead batteries on the Simon says game. Oh the tragedy. Jokes aside, drinks are solid, people are friendly, and the atmosphere is nice
I love the bar and went there a couple of times. On the other day, the bathroom stunk horribly..., like a bathroom in a club at 3am. That's why I had to remove a star. I wish there was another bathroom or it was cleaned often. Other than that, I always enjoy coming here. They often have seasonal events as well.
Came here for a friends birthday. Went around 7pm and it wasn’t too crowded. Had a lot of fun games to choose from. The drinks were great. The staff was friendly. Overall it was a good experience.
I enjoyed this place. It was very quiet at the time at went which was early in the afternoon. Parking can be a pain around here if it was a nice day (I went on a rainy day) or a weekday since its on a busy street. The place in general is clean and the other people I was with said their beer was very good. They have pinball machines there and you can play board games there. The bartender was nice and said hello to everyone who came in. I had a good experience there.
I liked Solid State a lot. Their drink selection is very good and a little unusual. Their game library, although it looked humble, was very good in my opinion: a wide range of genres for various kinds of groups. Every time someone at my table wished for something, we were able to find what we wanted in the library. I do wish they would devote a little more time to arranging the lighting and volume in ways that work for game playing - maybe separate the pinball and traditional bar environment from a secluded tabletop area? No charge for tabletop games, 75 cents per play for pinball. I paid about $7 for a beer and $10 for one of the most interesting cocktails I've experienced.
I’ve been there around opening time. Samira ( excuse the spelling). She great!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Personable. It’s. Been about three months since I’ve been back but she remembered me. I came regularly before the pandemic. I was kicked out because I was too drunk by owner, good times
Don't let my review steer you from coming here. This is a really cool spot to lounge around, bring a date, or even play board games with anyone really. Reason why I gave it three stars is because it's not my kind of vibe. But if it was, definitely would be a 5 star kind of place. Again, it's nothing against the place, just my opinion.
Came for the pinball. Eight machines. The lighting was kind of dark so it was hard to see the pinballs. Decent draft beer selection. Place was empty outside of me and my friend. Would go back for my pinball fix but I won't bring my friend, he beat me for ten dollars!
Being a Woodside resident for a few years finally decided to hop into solid state.. Was a cool spot a few months ago, alot of beers on tap and a cool atmosphere!..If you're a beer person this is the spot in the heart of Woodside! Can bring food in from local restaurants which is a plus.. Also have arcade games in the back (didn't try any).. **Updated review (11-15-25) for the second time this year, have come and the beer is either warm, or skunky..I usually try and visit one to two times a month.. Also there is a very weird, damp musty smell in here as of the past 6-7mnths,thought maybe it was a summer air conditioning thing, but now in November, it's still here. So came back 11/15 Bartender poured 2 glasses of the same KCBC beer, where one was cloudy and one was clear. She asked owner about them and he said "SEND THEM OUT" Let me just say, there were not the same Good thing they do carry canned beer in which we did order, again, and left soon after Gonna give them a break till they figure out their tap situation
How not to run a bar. So I come in at 320 and ask for one pint before they close. Now there's at least 10 people sitting there drinking but tells me there closed and have a Great night.. literally her exact words. Not sorry not anything. But have a Great night..
My friends and I reserved a table for our Friendsgiving last Friday (on their site it states that it’s acceptable to bring outside food and I also confirmed this with one of their employees on the phone). We weren’t there that long before we were rudely rushed to buy drinks by the bar tender. Mind you besides two other people, my group and I (a total of 8 of us) were the only ones there. Later during the night we were approached with hostility by an employee (who wears a cowboy hat) who threatened to kick us out because we ONLY purchased 3 drinks as a group and because he saw that we brought in a soft drink (that wasn’t purchased at the bar). He also rudely said that this is not a community center. (This felt like a micro-aggression because my group and I are all people of color). First, to dismiss the 3 drinks that we paid for is rude. Second, to threaten to kick us out when the bar wasn’t even crowded and the night was just getting started is poor business and unprofessional customer service. Lastly, be clear and update your bar’s policy on your website about large parties and bringing outside food and beverages to the establishment. Don’t bring your attitude over here. Overall, my group and I were extremely disgusted by the customer service. We were getting glares all night from the staff and felt extremely uncomfortable. There is a way to talk to people especially YOUR CUSTOMERS, if you disagree on something or are trying to get your point across. Solid State lost out on some extra business that night. We were planning on purchasing some more drinks that night but because of the disrespectful service that soured our evening and made us feel extremely uncomfortable, we left early.
