Food is always great, hot and fast!! You barely get to nibble on a few chips with fabulous salsa when your food arrives! We ask for Licia as our waitress, I'm sure all are good but we really enjoy her!! We've been eating here for years and still visit regularly. Try it!!
If you haven’t been to Oscar’s yet, you need to go! Great food and customer service. Service is allways fast. When we have to take a trip to Abilene we try an stop in.
Friendly staff, fast service. Fajitas were excellent as always. Highly recommend both Oscar's locations!
Haven’t been to this location but the one in Merkel is awesome. ( I was taking a meal to the Coke plant across the field and street )
Turned out it was taco Tuesday, very good tacos, nice thin crispy chips and great salsa. Friendly fast service. Reasonably priced. Good stuff.
One of the best burgers I've had in years. The Mexican food is great as well. You can't miss with place or all good :) God bless the staff here it is truly a blessing here
First time here and it was absolutely delicious. I’d heard mixed reviews from people over the years but my husband said it was one of his favorite spots. So glad I finally went and tried it. I had a chicken taco plate with beans and rice. All the food was delicious and came out very quickly. I got full off of one taco and lots of chips and salsa. Both of which were also extremely good. The tea comes unsweetened but with just a few sweet n’ low packets it tasted fantastic. Definitely would come back again. Prices were extremely reasonable as well and the waitress was very sweet and accommodating to me showing up late to a big group.
I love Oscar’s! I eat there any time I’m in Abilene, TX. Their Mexican food is always inexpensive and consistently good. I had the fajita beef quesadillas and they were really good. They had onions and bell peppers in them. I also got a side of rice and beans. I always love their chips and salsa. Plus, their cups are huge which means less refills. Who can’t get on board with that? I highly recommend this restaurant and feel like everyone should eat here.
It has been years since we have been here. Last time it was okay. This time the food was very good. Order the queso appetizer and it was okay. I ordered the shrimp taco plate and the flavor was delicious. Hubbies ordered the smothered beef burrito plate. He said it was very yummy!! He has also had the Carne Guisada plate before and said some of the best.
I was staying at the Quality Inn next door and Oscars was highly recommended by the hotel staff. I walked on over and within minutes my server, Dasha, had me seated and served with nachos, salsa and ice water with lemon. I looked over the menu, asked a couple questions and ordered the #38 Durango Burrito Dinner (no jalapeños for me). In no time my dinner arrived nice and hot and looking good. Everything tasted fresh, quality and delicious. I ate the whole thing and enjoyed every bite. Dasha was awesome, atmosphere was a bit noisy but hey, it’s FRIDAY NIGHT and I’m glad they are busy. If I am by this part of the USA again, I will stop by Oscars! Thanks for a great dining experience. Bill from Baltimore Md.
1st time here. I had the sizzling beef, chicken and shrimp plate. The food on top had hardly any flavor most of it was towards the end. Food and service was ok. If I go back I might try something different to compare.
The food is good but it didn't leave me raving about it. So I wasn't disgusted or angry about anything, it just lacked a wow factor. The breakfast burritos are filling and are served all day. The lunch specials are a bit sparse in variety. I ordered a lunch special that had a cheese enchilada. There was no enchilada sauce on it. It was cheese filled which wasn't melted all the way and topped in a nacho type cheese. I expected red enchilada to be covering it so I was surprised and a bit let down. I appreciate them doing something different but it would've been better if it was an in house queso or something special like that. The kids portions are hearty. The chips and salsa is pretty good too. The salsa had a good balance of flavor and was a bit thin but still good. Friendly servers. All around good food, but nothing special as far as I can tell.
Paid 85$ for 4 people. Salsa was pure water. Potatoes unseasoned. The enchiladas had no cheese on them. The super street tacos were bland and dry. The waitress was not attentive. We sat at the table for 20 minutes before she walked up to us to take our drink order. Waited 35 minutes for food to come out. Did not check on us at any point. When it was time to leave I stood up ground waiting to pay for about 10 minutes. While I could see her in the back scrolling on her phone. We were the only customers in the whole restaurant. The tables were insanely sticky. All the tables. Toilet wouldn’t flush correctly.
I don't know if I came at a bad time or what but it wasn't the most welcoming experience. Felt rushed to order my food and rushes to get out. The politeness felt forced as if I just called their baby ugly or something. Food was okay. It was cheap which was nice. Salsa is good, I like that they give you a little refill pitcher of salsa. Chips on the stale side but still edible. There are better options but you just can't beat the price it seems. Will go again eventually but I don't know if I'm welcome. Maybe it was just that waitress.
I'd heard such good things about this place. Was looking forward to great food. The place is clean, with nice decor and good table service. The food is fresh and it is very fast, but it is not very good! I ordered the queso and got a bowl of nacho cheese sauce straight out of a can. The enchilada sauce, also right out of a can, and I suspect the refried beans too were out of a can. Everything else was just kinda bland, but at least it wasn't over-salted. I did enjoy the chips and salsa. The salsa was obviously made in-house, and it was good. I got the distinct impression that most of the employees were just collecting a paycheck; very few of them seemed to be happy. I can only tell you about my experience there. And I'm going to somewhere else next time.
*Not a one-time based review* When my husband and I first discovered Oscar’s, it was life changing. Friendly staff, delicious salsa that could pay the rent by itself, and my husband fell in love with their MexiBurger. It became our tradition to eat here on the way home from the deer lease (~6 times/year). Always around the same times/days. Unfortunately, something has changed. Our last two visits are just that—our last. Stale chips and an inconvenienced staff. Today we waited 20 minutes for salsa, then another 45 to get our food. Other tables were experiencing delays, as well. When asked about our food, the waitress just said, “Oh, sorry.” Our food came, and it just lacked luster and was not what we remembered falling in love with. Times are hard for everyone—customers and servers alike. People aren’t going out and spending money like they used to; so when they do, have them leaving glad that they chose your business. I hate leaving negative reviews, but I write this in hopes that owners or management will wake up and turn it around.
