It was new years day so the fact they were open was great, they were slammed and we ordered ahead still had a moderate wait but the phone was ringing off the hook, I liked the place and will be back, Great good!
This is my go to Chinese place. The fried rice is the closest I've found to up North fried rice. It's brown not yellow. I've never had a bad meal here.
First time ordering from this restaurant, I have to say this is an amazing place, kind, friendly, as well as amazing food and portions to go along with the experience, definitely would recommend for anyone looking for a new favorite Chinese restaurant!
Food is the best Chinese in Sarasota
Food was great, They even saved my lost items for me until I could come and retrieve it. Super nice
I absolutely love Wok Inn. The food is always good. No matter what I have tried there I am never disappointed. Wish they did delivery but the drive is totaly worth it.
Just the best you can get in Sarasota
Excellent food, very friendly owners. Highly recommend. In my opinion it is the best in Sarasota and very good pricing and value.
Food tastes great. Sauce is fantastic. Employees are kind and my friends. Also it’s a nice restaurant.
We eat here frequently and the food has been great every time. Fair prices, Definitely recommend for Chinese in Sarasota
Had wonderful lemon chicken and chicken fried rice. Worth navigating the traffic mess to get to it. Highly recommend 👌
The pork fried rice was so good I ordered it 5 days in a row ! Thank you !
This place is legit! Friendly service and delicious Chinese takeout. Their hot and sour soup is the bomb😋
Fantastic chicken pieces in the sweet and sour chicken. Egg rolls spot on. Good wonton soup, made for best lunch in town
It was very good food. She even gave me extra rice to take home in order to finish the rest of my left overs
Inexpensive but tasty. We ordered 2 combos and to my suprise, it came with soup and fortune cookies. The egg drop soup is the bomb 😊. As American Asian, I totally understand where there might be ESL on the phone conversation, but that's the least of my worries. It's all about the food baby 😋
Wok Inn only has seating for 10-12 customers but the food I ordered was delicious. It was a lot of chicken with broccoli so I had enough for a second meal. 😋
This is a family owned and authentic restaurant that serves the best fried rice in town, REAL fried rice, not that yellow stuff. Portion sizes are excellent for the price and they have some deals where you earn free sides if you spend a certain amount. Beef fried rice, chicken lomein, curry Singapore noodles, and the soups are our favorites.
Great place to get Chinese takeout. Excellent food, friendly staff, two tables that you could eat at, but they are mostly just seats for customers waiting for their orders. They accept cash or cards, and the Moo Goo Gai Pan is delicious.
Great place. Excellent food. Very nice owners. This was our first time but definitely will not be our last. Would definitely recommend. Best Chinese food in the area by far.
They have the absolute Best crab ragoons and egg drop soup. I took dinner to a friend and we both moaned. I moved 2 years ago and have missed this place So much.
After browsing the ratings I decided to give it a try. My food was really hot, and very good, not salty at all, good portions, and I will order from here again. The gentleman who answered the phone answered all my questions and was very kind and patient. That’s awesome because a lot of places will not take the time, they did!
I LOVe this place! This is the last Chinese restaurant I've eaten at since discovering it several years ago. Between take-out and dining in I've probably been there more than one-hundred times. Everything from the light and crispy Egg Foo Young and pork fried rice to the General Tso's chicken is superb. The generous portion weekday lunch specials come in at around a scant more than $5. That's a lot of food for five bucks. The two people who man the stoves are quick and consistent in their cooking. The lady behind the counter is always cheerful, making you feel happy you picked Wok Inn for lunch or dinner.
Not really a dining experience. Food is fabulous. Definitely recommend
In a town filled with average Chinese take out, this place stands out as the best! It's not the same lo-mein, fried rice, sweet and sour mess that is at every other place. This place is fresh and tastes amazing. Thanks Wok Inn!
Mongolian combo delicious, egg rolls crispy and non-greasy Wife loved her Orange Chicken and thanks for the added donuts!!!
Best Chinese in Sarasota period. Ragon is to die for and the steak on a stick. WOW!!!! Amazing!! Love u guys so much. U guys ROCK!!! keep up the great food!!
Monday, Sept 11th the Wok Inn was open at 11am. Sarasota was in the afternath of Hurricane Irma, nothing was open, and this family was working madly to make sure people had food. The wait was at least an hour, in some cases, two and they were running low on certain items. But the two ladies cooking and young man behind the register handled each customer graciously.
Great food. Owners will, Sara, Wendy, Evan, Eric are the nicest people you will ever meet. They will cook any Chinese dish you desire. Frank and lisa.
The lady behind the counter is always so nice, every single time. Love the food too
You don’t know what you’re missing, this is such a treat! I have been going here over the last 9 years, I highly recommend trying it out. They are hardworking and the place is spotless. They are so nice too. Hi Sarah 😌 Thanks Wok Inn, your food is always fantastic 🩷🙏. They also are open on some holidays too!
As a resident in Sarasota for more than 8 years now, Wok Inn has taken a special place in my childhood memory. I explicitly remember, years ago, that we would have dinner at Wok Inn every Sunday. It's a small, family-ran, business, but the work is well organized. Their service was excellent and have special treats for my brother and I. Even during the pandemic, they were one of the only restaurants to remain open and maintain their food quality. I understand that there were a lot of changed, we could not dine in for nearly 2 years, but just the sheer difficulty to operate a restaurant when public health safety is a concern is unimaginable and their ability to continue to cook delicious food is nothing other than the work of God. They had the door blockage for a long time and only offered take-out. It was amazing that despite being muffed in a container for more than half an hour, the flavor of the food was still mouth-watering. The texture of the dish and temperature would definitely get a little mushy and cooled, but hey, you can't do much about thermodynamics and osmosis of something after it has been sitting in the container for half an hour. Till today, Wok Inn still is my go-to place for Chinese food in Sarasota. To be specific, American-Chinese food. While yes, it is not authentic, but that's pretty much a common factor in all Chinese restaurants in a city without a large Chinese population. We have seen some changes like their "Get something free when your order is ..." and the changes in dine-in. They've removed most of the tables for dine-in when they re-opened back in 2021-2022 and progressed into a "Take out only" restaurant. You can still sit down and eat, but they do not offer any dine-in service like before. Anyways, this is a review from a customer who had 8 years of experience at Wok Inn, and I'm telling you that the quality and deliciousness of their Chinese food has been consistent as it was 8 years ago. They've become like family to me and always welcomed customers whole-heartedly. Thank you guys SO SO MUCH for being part of my life and I wish your restaurant and family nothing but the best in the future.
Everything we ordered was on point. Expect tasty mild subtle flavors that are joined perfectly to complement each other. Crispy egg rolls 😋 delicious wonton soup. Even got a free treat: Fresh warm sugar donuts. Inside the place was Clean & Neat.✨️ The big portions and great price led to a Big Win for date night 🥰 thank you, will be back
Food was reasonably priced, owners were very helpful and kind and the food was absolutely amazing!! We were passing through the area and my kids wanted Chinese food. Took the chance and let me tell you, we have saved this as our new stop every time we come through. We travel the coast every other month to visit with family and I can't wait to tell them of this hidden gem. Sarasota is lucky to have this place.
We ordered on Christmas Eve. The food was ready when we picked it up. The staff member was friendly and accommodating. The food was taste and exactly how we ordered it. They even included complementary donuts which were very good. Thank you for a great experience..We will order from your restaurant again!
The food was great. Spicy chicken was the best I've had. Shrimp/Pork fried rice was superb. All of the food was hot and fresh made. I'm not usually a fan of the lo mein noodles but I thoroughly enjoyed them from here. Egg roles were also great although a bit on the small side.
This place is one of THE BEST Chinese takeout places around Sarasota. I love their rice, I love their lo mein, they gave me free doughnuts, and they put the sauce on the side so your chicken stays crispy!! You also get soup and egg roll with the combo and the prices are GREAT!! All that food and I didn’t even spend $20. So if you’re looking for a great Chinese place to order from this is the place. No they don’t offer delivery but I’m sure they are hooked up with one of those mobile delivery app services. Sorry guys I didn’t take a pic bc I was too hungry, but next time I order I will!!
I’ve lived here all my life and this is the best Chinese food I can find. They recently made their egg foo young sauce even better!! So if you haven’t tried that yet, or tried it before and weren’t a fan. Oh mannn! Idk why someone was hating on the egg rolls, those are always crispy and delicious. Fried rice is actually fried rice. I can go on and on. Do yourself a favor and try it out!
Impressed. Staying in the area on vacation, and drove passed the place and liked the name. Ordered food for dinner and impressed with the taste, quality and value. The roast pork was good, the beef in the beef and broccoli was tender. Everything we ordered I would have again other than the s&s pork (too much batter).
The food was delicious & they threw in some free donuts. It’s more of a takeout atmosphere but the food was the best Chinese I’ve found thus far in Sarasota
Very tasty, hot and fresh. The shrimp were large and perfectly cooked, the veggies were all crisp. The fried appetizers were not nearly as greasy as what you usually get around here. My only complaints are a lack of baby corn and the spare ribs were pretty dry.
Amazing place to buy Chinese food. Always delicious and when you buy a certain amount of food they give you extra goodies! My favorite is the teriyaki chicken with sweet sesame balls, perfect place if you're looking for some high quality food.
Great take-out. Food was ready in 25 minutes, good portions, affordable pricing. The beef was a bit chewy but the flavor of the dish was delicious. We really enjoyed the lo mein and buddhas delight, too.
Everything was amazing. Quite literally the best cream puff rangoons in Florida, and delicious sugar donuts!
we had been lowal fans of China 1 for many many years but something has changed over there. that being said we started looking for a new place to try. Wok Inn has amazing food. their egg rolls are delish, pepper steak is yum, gen tsao is great, etc. they don't have delivery service but you can order online or by phone and grab it yourself. we have found a new place.
Everything was absolutely delicious! Very generous portions I couldn't finish it all, very flavorful and fresh. Thank you Wok In for a great meal you are my new favorite place!
The food is always fresh and tasty, ordered from here a few times and have been great each time. The staff is very friendly and provides great service. Best you’ll find in Sarasota.
I love this place,but 8.99 delivery ain't happening 4, MAYBE even 5 but 8.99 naaaa
Ive been coming to Wok Inn since I was a literal child and now im almost 24. No other chinese food in sarasota compares. Comfort food for me. Always consistent, never have to wait a long time, owners are hard working and genuine. A full entree with side fried rice, soup, wontons, and a soda is $12. I emphasize this, you cannot beat it. I have been eating Wok Inn since as long as I can remember. Love yall for real
The food needs 6 stars. The people working there are not the friendliest and for Asian food, that is how you know it is legit and will be good. We will 100% make this our go-to. Prices are reasonable for the amazing flavor you get!
Everything was delicious! We had wonton & egg drop soups, crab puffs (you have to try these!), shrimp lo mein, General Tso’s chicken, spicy Szechuan chicken, fried rice. It’s not overly seasoned so each person can choose which sauce/mustard they prefer to top it with. They added fried donuts as a gift and these were incredible! Perfect as a dessert but with the leftover donuts we made a breakfast treat - warmed them up, drizzled with semisweet chocolate, dusted with powdered sugar and topped with fresh fruit!
We had a really big order, over $120...not only did they throw in a few free treats, but the food came out quickly. Everything was so good and fresh! This was my first time here and these were my favorites: the Wonton Soup (delicious!), veggie fried rice, orange chicken, veggie lo mien, and the chicken egg rolls. We will definitely be back again!
This place is amazing! I had to come online and give Sara a 5 star review. This Chinese takeout is ran by a sweet woman and her husband. The food is consistent and honestly I haven’t found better Chinese around. The lunch or dinner special is a great value and if you don’t know what you what I highly recommend the chicken lo mein, or the sweet and sour chicken. They have a few tables to sit inside and eat or to wait at after you order. It’s in a decent area by the Amish community so very safe. 5/5
Good food at fair price but very Covid paranoid. Subway next door let's you come in w/o mask while these guys work from the doorway.
I enjoyed their food a lot, the lady said 15 minutes wait and thats exactly what time i waited, maybe just a little expensive but it was good Chinese food.
Good quality food, great price. Our family enjoyed chicken fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, and Pork Lo Mein. For less than $30
I have been to several other chinese restaurants and have yet to find any other place that has as good of quality of food. O will ride my bike 4 miles just to get their food.
Good, Chinese gave us free doughnuts. Fried rice was a little bland.
Clean little place. Good food. Wonderful to see a family working together. The eleven year old boy running the cash register, taking orders and waiting tables was especially refreshing to see. Mature, good natured, intelligent and he didn't die because he was working. Amazing!!!!
I like this place for food because their wonton soup is delicious they offer different mix to their dishes and serve you huge lunch portions I am happy whenever I get lunch special. The only gripe i have is small amount of soup given in the lunch special.
The fried rice is really good! But my favorite was the Happy family plate! 4 Stars because they have to work a little bit more on customer service! But the food is good
Wok Inn has been our go-to for Chinese food takeout for years. The restaurant itself isn’t much to look at, but the food is always tasty. Portions are pretty generous too. The family that now owns it seems very nice, and they often include free donuts or almond cookies (in addition to the usual fortune cookies) with our family’s order. Great choice for a night off from the kitchen!
First time take out. Selected this place based on the variety of the menu and the reviews. I base all my Chinese dinner experiences on the Hot & Sour soup and theirs is 4 Star. Nice blend of tastes and a solid spicy broth. We also liked the Happy Family dish and would have given it 5 stars if the veggies had a little more crunch. House Fried Rice gets 5 stars as does the Crab Rangoon according our granddaughter. Would go again.
Great Chinese food. Got old floors. Stick everywhere boiling out into dining area. No trash can for our mess. Greasy books n yucky bathroom. Small selection of drinks but it hits all the Chinese marks. Great food not very clean place. Bring cash ..ya get a little discount or free items..
This is a take out restaurant. You can eat right here but the interior is very scarce and not very inviting. The food though is amazing. Absolutely fresh, tasty and big portion size at a fair price. The chicken is just perfect! Got a free drink and spring rolls with my walk-in order that took less than 5 minutes for them to complete. You can order ahead though. Again, I definitely recommend takeout.
The food is pretty good but the customer service is even better. Wei is amazing.
If they used white meat it would be 5 stars. The flavors are wonderful. It's just the protein that seems suspect
It was a struggle to rate this restaurant. 1 star for the cleanliness, environment, and food safety practices. 4 stars for taste of food. Hunan chicken was great. Chicken tender. Sauce just right thickness with no stickiness. Veggies crisp. The shrimp in lobster sauce was fresh tasting with lovely lobster flavor. Shrimp were cooked perfectly. Egg drop soup tasted good but had an almost neon yellow color from some flavoring packet. The kitchen and dining area was terrible. I wish I hadn't seen the inside!!! Piles of junk everywhere. Food storage sitting on floor. Trash piled in kitchen near food products. Leaky fridge with mildewed wet towel on floor in kitchen. They have TOP RAMEN CUP OF NOODLES sitting in their storage (see pics). I wonder which menu item gets faked with that garbage. The place is a train wreck of needing to be cleaned.
I got the Chicken Egg Foo Young dinner Take - Out. To my surprise, the Chicken Egg Foo Young itself were 3 small onelettes in a small pint box. In my experience, they've always been large onelettes in a big box, especially for dinner size. Perhaps because of language barrier, I wasn't told it also came as a combination size. But it was mostly my fault for not reading the menu more carefully. The taste was good. Unfortunately, the brown sauce was watered down. But the white rice added taste. I ate nearly all of everything. I was actually planning on ordering one of their tofu dishes. However, since I've never eaten there & most of the names were thrown off with other terms that I wasn't familiar with, I decided against ordering anything with possible tofu. Overall, it was a hit-or-miss experience.
Ordered takeout 2wks ago girl at front counter rude plus if you pay in debit our credit card they now add on 7% thats just wrong normal is 3% just plain greed
Not good. We ordered the Pu Pu Platter for two, Honey Garlic Chicken, and Wonton Soup. The platter had one decent element, beef on a stick, but the rest was terrible. Chicken wings fried, greasy and hard. Same for ribs. The small egg rolls were ok, but the fried shrimp is the same as the description of the Honey Garlic Chicken to follow. The Garlic Honey Chicken was essentially an extremely small (1/4 x 1 inch) piece of chicken and a huge amount of batter soaked in sauce. We removed the batter to see what was a tiny piece of chicken yet the individual "pieces" were 4 x 1 inches in size. The soup however was good. I can't imagine anyone saying this is good food. There are so many better options.
I’ve been ordering food from them for years. It’s always good .. Christmas Eves order was terrible chewy teriyaki sticks, chewy bloody chicken, wings, sesame chicken that tasted old. It was not good at all and it was over $50.
We had heard so many good thinks about this place so tonight was our first time ordering there. Ordered shrimp egg foo young, it was okay plain, they gave us some sort of black sauce to pour on it not foo young sauce at all so we didn't use it. We won't order there again. First and last.
Avoid this place. Nothing to write about really , place itself is in shambles , food is terrible. Chicken tasted hard , had to throw.
Horrible service I purchased 4 meals and asked for hot oil and was told I had to purchase it! Then continued to give me attitude. She then proceeded to throw the hot oil on the table. I will take my business else where. If you are looking for attitude and rude service this is your place.
Attention was okay but food was really bad veggie soup and wonton soup tasted just like water fried rice didn't taste good at all . Won't come back again! and don't recommend it to anybody you'll be disappointed!
Be careful they like to add surcharges for no reason… I ordered on line went to pay but decided to call and order but it was far more expensive for the exact same i asked the person and she just got rude… looks like they want to steal from their customers be aware!
Poor customer service, hidden up charges and below average food quality. The lady working their is rude with a nasty attitude.
Absolutely vile place to try and eat. Food is utterly disgusting and the restaurant is in shambles. If I was a health inspector I would shut them down for good!!!!!
I dont know why but the Beef taste old and they don't wash there hands when they use the bathroom
Friendly service, however my Kung Pao Chicken was literally flavorless, besides some carrots in there which tasted WAY OFF and had to be taken out. Also couldn't believe how little chicken was in the dish...it was more a Vegetarian dish. Doctored up the leftovers with Sriracha which didn't help, threw away half the entree...one and done!
The only time I went in there it smelled SO horrible. While waiting to pick up our food, I stepped outside because the smell was OVERWHELMING. By the time we got home I had lost my appetite but ate anyway. It was just gross. Neither one of us could eat it. Maybe it was in our heads after enduring that smell. Haven't been back.
Previously we have found their food ok except for the egg rolls, which were awful. Jade Garden was closed so we decided to try Wok Inn again. They were very rude on the phone. This was the 2nd time that has happen. It cost them our business. I will not call them again.
This place was real nasty yesterday I ordered vegetable spring rolls and that had chunks of pork in it and the vegetable lo mein was super greasy with old broccoli there was no onions carrots or anything else besides broccoli in the lo mein
It’s not terrible but it is
Worst person working behind the register. She was extremely rude. Denied me service for something my friend used to do, which was return the orderS THEY got wrong. The food isn't even all that great (except for the rice - it's okay) but since it was close I thought I'd keep going. Now I have a reason to definitely not go back.
Awful ... drove past several other Chinese restaurants to go here because of a slightly higher star rating. Egg rolls tasted like they were old. The chicken with vegetables tasted disgusting with extremely overcooked vegetables and burnt tasting sauce. Same with the pepper steak. Don't spend your time or money
I bought hot and sour soup, the soup has a lot of old oil and its smell so bad! The tofu is harder than a rock! Also dont ever buy the steam dumling, the meat inside taste really old and smell!
Soooo i got a very long black hair in my food, now i understand if they are apologetic, but the manager the chinese lady wanted to see the hair... Well i dont save a hair thats in my mouth. She did not want to help and was very combative. 0 stars.
It was pretty bad! Got sweet sour chicken, pork shrimp combination. The pork was sooo dried up, the shrimp batter tasted like pancake mix and fell apart when you picked it up and all blackish on the inside. I knew the lobster sauce was not going to be anything like back home but...it was clear and rather gooey and had no seafood taste at all..I tasted a hint of cinnamon. The crab rangoons had no taste of seafood either and there was so little in them who could really taste anything. So that leaves the pork fried rice which was good. I am wondering if I should call him and ask for a refund! Needless to say...We won’t be going back!
I didn't think it was possible to mess up Chinese food this badly. Our order was simple, two basic items, one of them spicy. We called ahead, the food was ready when we arrived, well packaged & hot. That is as good as it gets. My Kung Pao shrimp was not spicy at all and totally flavorless, akin to chunky paste. The packaging would have been better on both counts. My teenage son's order was so bland he threw it out after about 6 bites.
This place in nasty.. breading is soggy on my shrimp.. crab Rangoon had a strange taste, egg roll was hideous.. best thing at this place was the wonton soup and crispy noodles,, ill stick to eating Chinese food at the Yummy house from now on, no place can measure up to the yummy house if your wanting Chinese food.
They are tricksters, we bought two $13.00 orders, and paid $32.00 which should of come to $28:00. then I asked for the boneless spear ribs and to my surprise the cook stacked steamed lettuce under the boneless ribs to make it look more than it was. And the rice taste like it was going bad. Don't waste your money.
Use to be our go too place for Chinese. None of my food had any flavor what so ever. Hate to complain but once I cut into multiple pieces of my sesame chicken I couldn’t even eat my meal. Waist of my money and they have to give out free donuts to make up for the lack luster food. Worst experience ever lo mein wasn’t even good.Sorry don’t waist your time. Huge disappointment didn’t eat anything we ordered
