I come here anytime of day and always greeted by a friendly staff. The food is always delish. I highly recommend.
Very nice and friendly place. Home cooked meals and a very good value. Closed. Probably due to COVID-19. I hope it reopens soon.
Clean. Relaxing. Good food. Courteous service. A welcome relief from an exhausting and frustrating shopping trip at the local zoo (Walmart on Washington Ave).
The food is always amazing here and the hot coco is literally to die for, it's a really cute little diner and I love going here.
I am usually in here to eat every couple of weeks. The staff is friendly, Melissa is a great waitress and makes me feel right at home.
Love it excellent food nice breakfast very nice people wish I can find a place like this in my area someplace in nj.
First time here. Very good experience. We had the Mahi and a large Greek salad....delicous. staff was great and very friendly.
This place looks amazing. Question for the owner. Are you guys operating online? Or are you closed? Or plan on reopening. I am interested in the location. I would really appreciate a reply. Thank you in advance.
Great food in a relaxing diner atmosphere. The service was great, too!
Very nice Diner, good Menu and Food and servi were very good. SOme of the best pancakes ever.
Go there every Father's day for breakfast. Service and food were excellent as always and the prices are exceptionally reasonable.
Amazing food at a great experience! Quintessential diner atmosphere with friendly staff.
Great food, long time family run Diner, always supports the Midway Fire Department, nice place to relax and enjoy talking to the locals.
Good food, service was excellent, staff was very friendly.
Came in for the first time for breakfast. The breakfasts: eggs and homemade hash made just the way I like it. The home-fries were crispy and grilled as apposed to deep-fried like a lot of other diners. Will be back.
This is probably my favorite diner in the area. Their home made corn beef hash is all I think about most days. The only problem is that it's so good that it's SLAMMED every time I drive by.
Quick service. Great breakfast. Waitress staff extremely attentive. In and out fast if you need to get to work. Perfect visit.
Had oatmeal this morning. I enjoy this oatmeal because it is made with "whole" oats. It is one of the top oatmeals in the area. There is only one improvement to be made...fill the bowl! Also Jen, our server, is really very good. Farmer Boy is lucky to have her.
Stop in often for dinner and am never disappointed. Food is good, staff is friendly and prices are right. Lexi is fabulous!!! Always ask for her when I go.
I'm extremely picky when it comes to food , atmosphere, and location I was undecided of what I wanted because the menu has so many beautiful pholicious options I could not make up my mind , the waitress Gianna suggested Reuben on rye which wasn't on the menu , excellent suggestion that's what I had . My wife Linda Laird suggested the diner on Central Ave Colonie
Always accommodating and nice. Food portions are large and always tasty. We will continue to come here for years. Keep up the good work!
The food was really good, and plentiful. We all had take home bags. Service was good and friendly. Will go back.
Great breakfast, lunch and dinner menus and good prices. The staff are friendly and service is great. Mac and cheese with a kick is my favorite.
One of the best meals I've had outside my own home since 1983.the first meal that I've had outside my house that I didn't have to pick up any other seasoning to put on what I was eating the food was wonderful I recommend it to anybody
Honestly one of the best Diner's I have been to in a long time. Very friendly staff, awesome food, low prices. They even serve beer!
The food was fantastic! Beef barley soup was terriffic. Their parmesan peppercorn salad dressing is great and salads are well put together.
There were so many options to choose from! Honestly it seemed like there was something for everyone! I ended up going with the chicken parm and it was pretty good. I'll definitely be back to try a couple other dishes in the future.
What a charming place! A little country farm rustic chic! Nice variety to choose from, fantastic waitress, excellent coffee, delicious food and corned beef hash to die for!
The food was great and served in a timely manner. The service from the staff was excellent.
Loved the food, loved the staff, prices were very good so come on down and let your tummy say "yum yum! "
Farmer boy is a very good dinner long time ago when my mother was a live we used to there before we used to colonies center with my mother good friend to have breakfast so I give them a 5 star rating because they are very good place to eat
My family & I have been coming to the Farmer Boy for years. Food is always great (Rueben is the fam-fave). We get seated quickly & service is always excellent! If you are looking for home cooked quality food or maybe a delicious dessert this is the place for you!
This place is a hidden jewel! Coming from Ithaca to visit family, we always have breakfast at the Farmer Boy Diner. They know us by name now. While waiting for our order this morning, I asked for a dinner menu. I was SHOCKED! Their menu tops large chain restaurants by far! Macaroni goulash, bourbon steak, meaty lasagna, french onion soup, ribeye, Mac & cheese with a kick.... Those are just the ones I can remember. All prepared by local home town folk who are pleasant and welcoming. What more can you ask for?
I had never been here and we went to early dinner after a movie at bowtie. I had a hard time choosing what to ear, but was delighted to see they had a pumpkin ravioli dish I could return to try🎃. I hadn't had a party melt in over a year, so I got that. Delicious, and the bread pudding was on point!!! My bestie got the fish sandwich and the portion of fish was huge. Tasty too. Yum👌🏾✨.
My husband and I went out exploring for some wholesome food. We recently relocated to the area from another locale whose staple is diners. There are delicious diners by us, one of which even makes their own yogurt, but Farmer Boy is now our FAVORITE diner. We haven't even ventured into breakfast here. We've ordered pumpkin ravioli in a sage-butter sauce (to die for!), pork chops with apples and sage-butter (see previous interjection), stuffed peppers (see previous interjection), cheese quesadillas, clam chowder, and burgers. I am a phenomenal cook and can tell you that everything is made from scratch here. We really received more than we expected from a diner, and were/are able to now frequent our favorite spot because of the reasonable prices. Service for us was always expedient and attentive. Even though we have to drive a little out of the way to get to the diner, it is well worth it. Until we finish settling in to use the kitchen, stove and all, we will have to eat out frequently, and Farmer Boy is top notch. Chris, since you enjoy honest critiques, I believe the salsa is canned, but it is still tasty. I grew up where clam chowder is a staple, so there could be more clams and little thicker/flavorful cream base. Bacon, clam juice, shallots, thyme? Just some thoughts for consideration. Please give your patrons some history on the cooks here - I'm curious because the dishes are just SO amazing! They (?) are so talented, I would love to cook with them and pick their brain sometime. THANK YOU for serving your patrons QUALITY food! Quality never goes unnoticed. Yum, yum in the tum, tum.
Of you want a classic American diner, Farmer Boy is the place. Portion sizes are good and prices are good. They have great fish and chips, but the western or Greek omelets are worth it as a dinner substitute. The kids menu has several good options and you can substitute almost any sides. Some of the best manhattan clam chowder around as well.
It's hard to go wrong here for breakfast or lunch. Classic diner fare, not greasy, cooked to perfection. Everything we had was fresh and the cinnamon horn split and griddled warm was awesome.
Seated right away. Fast and friendly service. Had the chili con carne in a bread bowl. It was quite tasty. Coffee, dinner, dessert (cheesecake) $10. Excellent all around!
I was astounded to see how friendly, nice, and outgoing the staff was! I had a waitress named Lexi and was with my friend grabbing breakfast. I was ordering my usual chocolate chip pancakes and decided to get eggs and bacon as well. Lexi recommended I get my eggs scrambled because they are the best around even though I had told her I am not a fan of scrambled eggs. It was the BEST decision I ever made! I just wanted to make sure everyone on board at Farmer Boy Diner knows how incredible Lexi is with recommendations and accommodating all of her customers needs! Great place loved it will return!
This is my "go to" spot for Corned Beef Hash. It is the best in the area. It is a small family run place. I love the service. I have business meetings there because they allow me to feel welcome when I tie up a table for an hour after my meal. It's clean and the food is great.
Exactly what I was looking for! The atmosphere is great, the food is incredible, the service is wonderful. I love how clean and tidy the dining room is, and how organized the bar is. Ordered eggs benedict, and it is exactly what it should taste like. Incredible hollandaise, everything cooked to perfection, I am so impressed! This establishment is the perfect blend of coture and down home cookin', and that is not easy to obtain. Definitely in love!
I used to eat here all the time for breakfast when I lived in Colonie...now it’s my go to place on the way to get my car serviced at the dealer on Central Ave. Farmer Boy has the best, I say best hamburgers and fries of any diner in the region. The burger has that delicious, char-broiled flavor, the bun is always fresh and up to the task of containing the burger, cheese and toppings. The service is always friendly and prompt, food is a good value. Some of the lunch specials looked really good, like the mac&cheese with a kick but a great hamburger rules for me.
Peaches (my server) IS AMAZING! She made sure we knew all the specials for the day. Helped us choose what to order. Food was FAST! It tasted so savory. I had catfish & grits. My friend raved over the sweet potato waffles. Don’t worry about parking. Parking on the street was abundant and only a 5 min walk. Booked your spot today!
Great!!! We couldn't find any place open on a Sunday. We asked a local who direct us here but the sign said closing at 3. Jennifer the Mgr welcomed us in even though it was 2:40pm. Erin our waitress was funny fast and professional. Our whole party of 5 got something we liked especially a Cobb Salad. A++
I came here since it was conveniently located on my way to a class in Albany and I was sick of fast food. I am sooo thankful I discovered this place, the food was spectacular and I enjoyed the house wine. Service was great also the host was at the door ready to greet me as I walked in. 10/10 I know Ill be back
Our first time at this diner on Central Avenue and we were very pleased! My husband had the Mexican omelet and I had the French toast. Both were delish! The coffee was also great! Our cups were never empty, thanks to the frequent top offs by the friendly, attentive wait staff. We cannot wait to return with our daughter!
We went for dinner. I ordered the roast turkey dinner which was delicious and came with a very generous portion of turkey mashed potatoes and gravy and homemade stuffing. My wife had a steak which was cooked to order and also delicious. For an app we each had the French onion soup which was tasty. Our server was very friendly and attentive to our needs. I recommend this restaurant to everyone who is looking for a delicious home cooked style meal and the prices were very reasonable.
Love this diner. They are excellent cooks especially the French fries are soooo good. Everything I order here tastes great. Never disappointed. The wait staff as very friendly and helpful. My restaurant of choice!!
Great food at great prices. Definitely recommended. Love their eggs Benedict, French fries, coffee, and sandwiches. Good service, bright and clean interior. Locally owned fingers and restaurants ALWAYS best the national chain in both price and food quality.
We had Amanda as our server, she was excellent. Very friendly and prompt. She kept our drinks filled and our food was quick to come out. She had good suggestions also. We really loved the nachos appetizer and the French toast was nice and thick. We will definitely come back and we hope to have Amanda next time too.
Excellent and prompt service. Staff is SUPER friendly and nice. Always helpful when I don't know what I want. The Manager Chris is such a nice human being and is always willing to help out his fellow man. I stop in to get a burger and fries and am always pleased with the portion and flavor. Very Clean and calm atmosphere unless its very busy inside and even then its very comfortable.
Nice place...clean, well staffed, friendly and the food was fresh. It has a nice selection of Mediterranean dishes mixed with American cuisine. We had a Greek Salad w/grilled chicken and a cranberry chicken salad sandwich on rye bread w/steak fries. Very good pricing and both plates were excellent. Had a Baily's and coffee w/whipped cream that was only $6 for dessert. Highly recommend this nice little diner.
My car was due for inspection so my husband and I decided to have lunch while the car was being serviced. The Farmer Boy Diner was close, so we stopped in. We ordered soup and burgers. The soup was chicken and rice- loaded with vegetables and plenty of rice and chicken. Quite tasty. My husband had the fried onion burger. Not to my taste, but he enjoyed it. I had the mushroom burger. It was prepared to order and arrived quickly. The cole slaw was also very good. Just the right consistency. The server was very pleasant. Quite a nice experience.
One of my favorite diners when I am in Albany-- a little to far for me on the regular since I don't live in Albany county. I have been there a few times and I have always gotten breakfast. My food has always come out hot and delicious. I have no experience with their dinners or lunch since I have never gotten those meals here. I ordered a TO GO order recently since I work near Farmer Boy. My lunch (Fast Traveler egg sandwich) was nicely packaged. It came with ketchup, silverware, napkins, salt packets and everything else I needed in a tiny bag so it didn’t get separated inside my take away bag. I ordered seasonal berries and they were warm berries like a compote consistency. I didn’t eat them with my meal since they were too sweet for me. I put them in my work fridge and took them home with me. I will make pancakes tomorrow for breakfast and put them on top. I didn’t ask about the berries so it was entirely my fault- I didn’t know they would be that sweet. Overall I have always had great service, delicious food, and a nice experience there. It is also cheaper than other diners nearby so even when I go with like 6 or 8 people, our bill isn’t huge.
Breakfast menu is a little sparse compared to other diners and their home fries aren't homemade. The service was great, though.
Very nice place, my food was good. If they biscuits and gravy, it may have been a five.
Food was hot and cooked to perfection. Service was awesome. Prices were average.
Food was good and came in a timely manner. Waitress was a little snippy. But overall a good experience
Was a nice little diner. The food was pretty good and the service was excellent.
Good food. nice prices. happy staff.Works for me.
Good diner food. Never had a problem. Service and prices are fair. Thanks.
Not much to say about this place other than it's one of the nicer diners in the area. Delicious pancakes but the home fries are pretty bland.
The dinner here, especially the pasta dishes, is very good. My favorites are the penne ala vodka and tortellini alfredo, they also make an excellent goulash. Come when Chris is in the kitchen and you won't regret it. They even made me fresh guacamole to take out one time. Highly recommend.
I'll admit I wasn't expecting much from this place, but they really did do a good job. The chicken cordon-blu was tasty and came in a huge portion size for the money. Service was a touch slow, but friendly.
A great diner. Good food at reasonable prices. I had the spanakopita with Greek salad and it was very good. I definitely want to come here again.
Great friendly fast service diner with a nice tasty and flavorful dinner menu for sit down dinners as well. Great deserts...Always enjoy the experience!
Always a great place to go when you don't feel like cooking breakfast. Fast, friendly service and great omelettes!
They have curly fries. The portions are large. And the food arrived quickly. The pancakes are great. One rhingvis no turkey sausage. But not a big deal.
Fast fresh good prices ! Classic diner fair w surprises and specials! Home made cream of broccoli and chicken soup Saturday! Large meals or small snacks and amazing tasty dessert.
Pretty good selection. Got the chili con carne and Caesar salad. Feels homey when I come to Thai place. This time around I felt a little rushed, though. Still, server was attentive.
Good food, inexpensive, portion sizes were good, service was good even though they were busy. Plenty of room in the parking lot still too despite the capacity crowd. Waited maybe 5 minutes for a table even though it was like 11am on a Sunday and there were two groups ahead of us, so that was extra impressive. Don't get out this way much but I'd definitely go back.
This always welcomes you with open arms, give exceptional service, and Services great food. Personally I'm a breakfast type of guy, so if you are like me try the Belgian Waffles, French Toast, home fries, and scrambled eggs just to name a few. Very good eats!
Food was well prepared, and very good. This would have been 5 stars, except our server was not what we're used to here; there was no check back with us to see if our meal was ok, the hostess had to get my son a soda refill, and we had to wait for our check - it was about 3:00 in the afternoon and there may have been one or two other tables - that's it. I will go back again.
Food could use more flavor. But the service was great. Kids loved the breakfast.
Just ok food. Service was very good. Eggs Benedict, eggs over cooked, English muffins we're under cooked. Hollandaise sauce had very little lemon.
The food is good, but every time we've been there they've been out of something we want to order. Their bathrooms are also pretty gross.
Food has always been good here, but not today. I had 1 pancake and had to get a sharp knife to cut it and then soak in syrup. My husband had burnt home fries. Must be new cook.
Was a little disappointed today. The salads that my guest and I ordered were underwhelming. My friend order a big Greek salad, and it was not a big salad. It was lacking in flavor also. I have been there before for breakfast and was very satisfied. Too bad lunch wasn't on par.
Depends on who is working. If you get the ex-con with sleeves tattooed, you are in for a treat. This pleasant gentleman will question of you liked the food, then scoff and smirk about your reason why. If I'm eating your "special -strawberries waffles and whip cream" you sure as hell better pick off the stems next time so I don't have to. Garbage staff, except for the waitresses are all very pleasant and the true force to be reckoned with here.
My husband and I went to Farmer Boy on a Sunday around 11:30. We ordered appetizers- chicken tenders and onion rings. I ordered a Greek salad under the dinner menu. My husband ordered a Reuben with fries. If we just ordered reubens I would have given a 5 star. The reuben was beautiful and delicious. The appetizers were rock hard and were obviously previously frozen. Yuck! The salad was served on a plate and for $7.99 it looked like the salad that comes free with an entree. It was the only Greek salad on the dinner menu so I am not sure what happened there. Would go again for sandwiches only. But probably not for awhile.
Very clean. Good food, friendly staff. Wait staff is a bit green, they need more experience. They are fine. I had the pork chops, it was different than what I expected, good however. Lasagna is 80% as good as mom made which means it was good. Overall a good diner for a leisurely meal.
Not like the old diner used to be. The food is good in a crunch, but next time, go to Blue Ribbon diner up the road in Schenectady.
Slow night..... The food was not prepared right....my chicken with fuscilli pasta was barely cooked......the pasta was more than El dente.....swimming in a broth The minestrone was full of celery .....the tea from the fountain was flat and the baklava was dried out from the reheating.... My roommate's beef stroganoff was burnt with the sauce was tomato based. Her soup was full of celery and the tea from the fountain was flat..... Her desert was carrot cake that tasted stale
Let's Start with Night Management Unfriendly... Was like he wanted to close up While we came in with Table #1 5 People Table #2 10 people The waitress was very unfriendly Tossed the silverware on the table She even had A rip in her Shut Well after leaving the funeral home across the Street we wanted to eat. Well guess I won't be back and I'm a Local..
Had the turkey dinner, mash potatoes and veggies were cold, The chicken tenders we got were so hard, could not bite into them.Cranberry sauce was very warm, had a funny taste to it. Very Disappointing! !
Waited 3 hours to eat breakfast on Mother's day, it was insane! After we sat at our table we waited an hour for our food! Never go here on a Holiday unless u have half a day to waste!
The server was polite and cordial but, the service was slow. The food on the other hand was awful. The frittata was bland and over cooked with almost no flavor. The eggs benedict was way over cooked. In general I would not recommend or return to this establishment.
So today was Father's Day, and I told my girlfriend that we should bring our daughter, and my mother to farmer boy for breakfast. My mother would bring me here as a child, and it was always amazing to hear "were going to farmer boy!" LOVED this place. It had a special place in my heart. Now as an adult, I've visited the establishment twice and both were disappointing. I had what was hands down my worse Father's Day breakfast yet, and dining issue. So we get there all excited(and hoping this experience is better than my last one, which I did not feel disgusted enough to write a review about, but it was still upsetting), we got this God awful table in the middle of everything, just to get bumped by staff members left and right. wWe ordered a good amount of food between the 4 of us. When the food came out, we noticed no cheese on scrambled eggs, so we asked our waitress(who seemed very careless about her occupation) if they could go back and get some cheese put on it. She came out almost instantly with that plate, but this time it had 2 soggy and cold pieces of cheese on the eggs. As she walked away, i asked her if we could have salt and pepper. I had to get very loud to try and get her attention. And she continued to walk away as i continued to yell "excuse me"(I also noticed the soggy cheese on my mothers eggs at this time so I was disgusted). So we waited a few minutes after talking about what to do...and we ALSO NOTICED that none of us got our meats. We ordered bacon for 2 of the plates, sausage for one and side orders of bacon and corn beef hash. My mother stood up and locked eyes with the waitress, and said "excuse me" and the lady ignored my mother, to go clean an empty table. So as I'm about to walk out, my mother choose to get someone else's attention, and she grabbed the owner I believe. But it was too late. A child hood memory completely wasted on this place. I wish I asked for my waitress' name. My mother felt disrespected and ignored by this waitress. She was so emotionless. Do what you want with this information. I believe there are much better cafes in the 518/area. I'm so disappointed. You are lucky I had my mother and daughter there. The level of disrespect was unacceptable.
Food was good after it came out after 30 minutes of ordering. Service was horrible, had to find our waitress to order food, did not bring any coffee refills when we asked, had to go and ask someone at the counter to bring us more coffee as the waitress sat in a booth and talked to others. Very cold sholder after we did get our food. Will not go back there again. There are much better places to go to.
"Expect bugs in your food, it's summer." If I had simply found a chunky beetle in my salad I would have left without making a negative post. But this manager is the larger reason we'll never go back. When the server took the half eaten plate back to the kitchen and informed the manager, he did nothing. So we had to approach him, he offered no apology, he offered no solution to fix the situation, and he instead informed us that since the salad greens are so fresh and it's summertime you should expect bugs in them. No thank you. We'll happily go to a competitor who has a better attitude.
I don't care how busy you are. When I got there this AM, half the place was empty and it filled up after my family ordered. I then waited 45 min for my food, which considering it was a family of 5, I didn't think was to long. However bringing out cold food, and then telling me it's because of how busy you are???? No, get a cook who can judge their time better. I've eaten here alot.....today was the last day
Terrible. Specifically, my coffee cup had lipstick on it. Ordered eggs Benedict...the sauce was broken, the poached eggs were over done, the muffin was burnt and the potatoes were undercooked. The waitress nor the individual that rang me out asked how the food was or I would have said something then.
Not thrilled. Got chicken and biscuits, was cold, they microwaved it, was mushy. He got London broil sandwich, meat was overcooked and tough. The minestrone soup was ok. Service was good though.
I have not been to this establishment for quite some time. I would give zero stars if allowed. The cook here is a real jerk. If you order toast, he gives you these small little ends that come out burnt. The food arrives cold and is very expensive for what you get. This used to be a good place when Jimmy ran it, but now it is a complete fail! Don't worry, I won't come back and second, it would better since you have been closed for so long to stay closed and sell to someone who knows how to run a restaurant and treat patrons unlike you! Poor service and food!
So my boyfriend & I sat down so the waiter could take our order after she was done we said to one another we were coming back before we even got our food we LOVED the atmosphere. The waiter was nice wasn't crowded everyone was so pleasant even the customers. HOWEVER, when the waiter came with out food she asked us "do you need anything else a refill on your orange Juice?" We said "no we're all set" then she asked us AFTER we said were good "what about hot sauce". Any other time of day I wouldn't have minded but we ordered breakfast Eggs, sausage, & pancakes! That's like assuming we wanted fried chicken before taking our order if we came in there during dinner time. Hot sauce tho yall on breakfast? & YES we're black! It may be small to some but to us it was offensive & WE WONT BE RETURNING! Food wasn't even good. Y'all need to use seasoning! Have a good day!
The place was clean and the waitress was so nice, I felt bad for her because the food was terrible. Like ALL of our food was terrible. (There were six of us) That's not a mistake, that's a bigger problem. Kitchen and menu needs an overhaul all together by a chef with proven recipes. I'm pretty lenient with mistakes because I have worked in the industry for years but I don't think I'll ever visit again.
