I love their foods. It’s the best Chinese restaurant in the Albany. I travel every week take out or dine in, even though it takes me an hour to be here. Service was good, and the owner was so kind.

Really good price for the all you can eat hot pot. Love that they have the make your own sauce section. The item selection isn’t the biggest, but of the stuff they have, it’s freaking delicious. Staff was super helpful for our first time there. Much better than Mosu.

Authentic Chinese food! Loved it!

Really, really good Chinese food. You could serve their stuff in China and it would hold its own. I was blown away by the authentic taste and how well each dish was cooked. Friendly and attentive service as well. I’m delighted to have found such great Chinese food in the Albany area and I’ll be coming back here a lot.

Excellent food. Got general tso’s chicken and my partner got pork fried rice. Was delicious. The staff were polite. No complaints. Would definitely recommend.

Very good northern Chinese food! Portions were great and can be shared. Reasonable prices. We definitely enjoyed our dinner here

From Montreal, drove to Albany while on vacation. This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. Walked in here because I didn't want to eat at Popeye's. It's not a pretty place (although the owner told us he's planning to renovate soon). Wasn't expecting much from the food but it was very good. We ordered 3 lunch specials: Kids ordered sesame chicken, General Kho (?) chicken (same as General Tao) and I had the beef with cumin. All the dishes came with white rice. We also ordered some large noodles with beef (what we usually refer to as "chow fun" in Montreal). The sesame chicken and general tao were the same dish except one had sesame sprinkled on top. But they were good. Kids enjoyed them. I really liked the beef and cumin. The noodles were excellent. Will definitely be coming back here again when visiting Albany. They also make a good bubble tea. Recommended!!!

This place was a surprising little gem in the Hannaford plaza across from Westgate plaza on Central. I've never been to China, but the food and atmosphere seemed very authentic. We also happened to be the only non-Chinese guests, which we take as a good sign. Food is served family style on large plates. Order a personal bowl of rice on the side for each person. I enjoyed the Spicy Szechuan Squid. Spicy is a bit of an understatement. With only hot tea to cool my palate, it was difficult to wolf it down. However, the flavor and especially the texture were excellent. The wife had the beef with peppers and onions (I believe). Great sauce and flavor. Our picky daughter even enjoyed it. The menu had a very wide variety of dishes and pictures for everything. Vegetarian options, fish, chicken, beef, and even offal. The hot tea was not filtered, so there were bits and pieces of tea and herbs in the cup. Not sure if that is authentic, but a bit of an annoyance for me. We have driven by dozens of times and never stopped in. Now that we did, we will definitely be back. I will just know to be a little cautious of any menu items that mention the word 'spicy'.

Most authentic Chinese food in Albany. All Szechuan style dishes I have tried have been absolutely fantastic. Portions are large, staff is polite and efficient. The higher price in comparison to typical Chinese restaurants is very well worth it.

Excellent Chinese restaurant hidden away inside this plaza. Highly recommended for hot pot and their great selection of milk teas! Just a heads up: I don't think this place serves alcohol, but the food and beverages they do provide make this spot well worth it!

Delicious food. Favorite combo: steamed dumplings, cumin lamb, green beans with minced pork, white rice. Love everything else too!

Stay away from hot pot. You'll enjoy this restaurant if you know what to order: stewed baby chicken w. Chinese mushroom, boiled live fish in hot and spicy sauce, spicy dry pot, house special tofu, steamed chicken w. chili sauce, pan fried spare ribs w. garlic pepper. Be aware, the above recommendations are all hot and spicy dishes.

I have eaten food from here so many times I’ve lost track. First time I dined in. Every time since I’ve gotten take out. The food is phenomenal. And it travels fairly well for take out- even the crispy shrimp. The front of house staff is always nice and considerate. This is not you’re normal American fast food Chinese food. They are legit. I can’t even order from the specials menu because it is all written in Chinese. I recommend the spicy chicken and spicy clams but you really can’t go wrong with any dish.

I will definitely come back again. I had Singapore rice noodles for lunch. The noodles, meat, seafood, and seasoning were all perfect. The portion was more than enough for dinner. The staff were friendly.

J

The food is delicious. I've tried several dishes and also went with a dish that was recommended by the owner. I especially liked the shrimp with crispy red peppers. Staff are friendly and the service was good. I've gotten take-out from here several times and it's my go to, especially for Szechuan food.

Found This Place Looking For Something Different To Eat With My Sisters, The Guy Who Took My Order Was Very Friendly And Even Gave Me Some Good Suggestions On What To Try, I Had The Panfried Dumplings With Soy Sauce And Beef And Broccoli With White Rice. I Can Honestly Say The Food Was A 10/10, Fully Cooked, Fresh And Warm Not Too Seasoned, It Tasted Perfect, Definitely Would Recommend.

We were hungry and really expected a fast food chinese place... but oh boy!! what a pleasant surprise when we were received with an extensive menu, friendly mask waiters and comfortable seating. The owner patiently explain the dishes and his recommendations were delicious. We had the eggplant with minced pork, fried dumplings, meat with onions and cumin, and the lamb with scallions and onions. The serving was abundant so we had left over for a super lunch the next day. We were so glad to have encountered a true gem. We will be back soon.

Best all you can eat hot pot spot in the area. Broth is great with a couple different dipping sauces to go with it. Most authentic spicy broth, due to spice level and flavor. Friendly staff and quick service. Could use an easier way to scoop noodles, glass noodles might be easier to handle.

colleen mclaughlin

Great food and attentive service. Don't be afraid to ask the waiter for suggestions. If you are willing to try organ meats make sure you say that. Based on my experience, you may need to reassure them that you are adventurous even though you are ordering in English😀. The hot food is hot (but great) but they will tell you the level. I would be conservative here if you are unsure. I have found some of the dishes not described as hot to have some mild heat, so if you don't like any heat, make sure to ask!

Incredible Sichuan and northern Chinese food. The eggplant with minced pork and tripe and tendon in chili sauce are my favorite, but I’ve never had a bad meal here. Staff is friendly and service is prompt, but keep in mind that this isn’t a typical American style restaurant, so don’t expect to be doted on.

M
Marius Beceanu

I have been here more than five times and each time the food was quite tasty. The only problem is what to choose, all the dishes are good. The service is discreet and the atmosphere is pleasant, especially if one comes with friends. The restaurant is situated in a strip mall.

Mouth watering Sichuan food. The pulled cabbage with pork belly is a must. The chicken with crispy peppers and the string beans with minced pork as well. You won’t regret it.

P

Always amazing. Family style dishes with authentic flavors and huge portions and equally amazing prices. You get a huge bang for your buck here and the food is just so so good. Anytime we're in town we HAVE to eat here. Everyone has their favorite dishes that we can't find anywhere else. This is "real" Chinese food, not the stuff you get at the buffet or take out. With that being said, try something new and you won't be disappointed! If you're looking for Szechuan anything this is THE place! I recommend the spicy Szechuan pork intestines. Enjoy!

On our way to thousand islands, we stopped here for lunch. Even though we did some Googling and saw the reviews are great, we didn’t expect much from this place. After all, why would anyone expect to find some authentic Chinese food in this “remote” place? Guess what? It totally beats our expectation! Actually it’s top notch Chinese food! So we dined here again on our way back to Boston!

As a Beijinger, this place really hit the spot! So many childhood memories in terms of flavour. All the food I had was very authentic and delicious! I will definitely be coming back when I pass by Albany.

So lucky in Albany to have authentic Szechwan food. Tonight was sliced potato and stir fried spicy squid. Spectacular combinations of flavor. The heat of the squid with the cool potato and thin almost shredded texture. Just wonderful. The tea and beer the perfect complement. Efficient and friendly service. Just come and basque in the goodness.

Been coming here for a while now and the food always been consistently good! They serve a lot of different varieties of authentic Chinese food from the northeast and Szechuan region! I love the beef w leak, deep fried spicy pork intestine, and the boil beef in hot pepper soup. I would strongly recommend to come here to try out all the authentic Chinese food that you can’t find anywhere in Albany!

Amazing food! Ordered 4 dishes and all were really good. Menu is easy to read as it has lots of pictures. Most dishes are spicy which we like. Pretty top notch schezuan eats. Very authentic. Had the chili chicken, which came with what I thought were giant pieces of chilli - turned out they were deep fried intestine. 1st time, and they were fantastic addition to the dish. Also the twice cooked pork belly was great, with salty black beans. Huge portions, excellent value.

First off the food is Delicious, great ambience and pleasant music. One and only negative is the terrible customer service. Arrogant and rude replies when asked about the delay in food. Instantly switches to defensive mode without any apology even after waiting for around 30 minutes. Busy day, yes but the way it's conveyed is impolite. Better work on it. Rest all is great.

It serves surprisingly delicious authentic Chinese dishes! Certified by authentic Chinese. More than tasty, even for vegetarians. Interior is spacious and tables are set at reasonable distance so it's not as noisy as other Chinese restaurants. Clean, efficient and the staff is very friendly all the way, accommodating and generous. The manager made us a complimentary dessert made of taro wrapped in sugar, which surprised all friends from Asia. It's certainly a wow-experience on one's tiring road trip. Feels like home back in Asia.

Y

The best Chinese restaurant in the United States that I have ever been. The prices of dishes are reasonable, and the service is pretty fast. If they can renovate their hardware, I believe they can attract more non Asian people who are not so familiar with Asian foods.

Been going here over a year and if you are looking for authentic Chinese food this is the place! Their round tables are perfect for big groups and you can order so many different dishes from mala to casseroles all priced very reasonably. Recently had a party in their private room and their service was amazing too! We ordered almost the whole menu and every single dish was amazing, and for vegan options there are so many different vegetables that you don't find in most Chinese places here!

I visit here at least once or twice in a week. Best ever Chinese cuisine place for me. Even when I had Chinese food like mala xianguo in Korea, it couldn’t make me satisfied because I miss here! Servers all know me and know what I am gonna order before I have a seat 😂 always thank you so much and I’ll see you again! Mafo tofu, mala xianguo, guobaorou, dongpo pork, fried rice, milk tea, Chinese pumpkin pie, omg just soooo good!!!!!😋

Normally, I try to take pictures of the food to show y’all how awesome it is. But on occasion, it’s so good that I completely forget to and that’s what happened here lol. I tried to at least get a corner of my plate that I hadn’t touched, but all of the other food was devoured before it occurred to me. This place is authentic, with a menu that can be slightly overwhelming, but without disappointment for anything you order basically. The guy who waited on us was super friendly and provided great service. The atmosphere was great, and I’ll be sure to put this place into my frequent rotation. The picture that I was able to get was of the crispy spicy squid. We also ordered the house fried rice, the whole croaker, panfried dumplings, and pork tenderloins. All of it was delicious!

This Chinese Northern Eastern style restaurant is generally rated 4.5 stars, and being in Albany bumps it up to 5 stars. Must-try: five-color Chinese salad (五彩大拉皮) Recommendation: fried eggplant with minced pork (肉沫茄子) and the stir-fried taro with sugar coat (翻沙芋头). Food: I've visited twice and tried the five-color Chinese salad, fried eggplant with minced pork, stir-fried taro with sugar coat, stewed baby chicken with Chinese mushrooms (小鸡炖蘑菇), and stewed pork bones with bean sauce (酱大骨). The five color salad is a delightful mix of mung bean noodles, vegetables, and a standout sauce. The "mino" (a traditional Chinese raincoat makes out of straw) eggplant dish showcases the chef's skill, with the eggplant sliced thinly and connected. The sugar-coated taro was surprisingly good, tastier than the candied version. While the stewed pork bones with bean sauce and stewed baby chicken were decent, the pork bones are not leg bones and the chicken portion in the soup was small. Note: They offer a discount for cash payments. Parking: free parking in the plaza parking lot.

I had a wonderful experience at the Northeastern Chinese restaurant, where I tasted a variety of dishes from the region. The Japanese braised tofu was soft and flavorful, with a rich sauce that complemented the rice. The red hot pepper sauce beef was spicy and tender, with a hint of sweetness and vinegar. The fish with tofu was a hearty dish, with a crispy skin and a smooth texture. The pumpkin fried was a pleasant surprise, with a crunchy exterior and a sweet and creamy interior. The chicken crispy fried in small pieces with red spices was a delight, with a crispy coating and a juicy meat. The squid fried was also delicious, with a chewy texture and a savory seasoning. Everything was top of the level, and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves authentic Chinese cuisine.

Rating is for take out, not dine-in experience. I’m a Hong Kong, Cantonese NYC, grandma, moms home cooking eater. This is very Shanghai Chinese food. I’ve noticed they use the same spice in all the dishes I’ve tried here. Maybe a little too much. all their dishes really tastes the same because of this. The spice overpowers the actual taste of the dish. I taste it in the soups, and every meat dish, vegan tofu dishes.

D
Dan Vo

food arrives quick. Delicious although a bit salty and spicy (it is Shanghai cuisine so understandable) order comes in family (of 5) size...makes it hard to try different dish. Servers are nice but might be considered as rude in other standard.

N
Nancy D

They do a very good job with their variety of food. You don't have to like Chinese food to dine here, as they have a nice selection of other foods, from chicken wings to pizza. My only wish is that they'd serve the spinach casserole more often!

Not sure to give 4 or 5 stars, the food was excellent The service was good, the place was clean except the bathroom ( that is maybe I give it 4 stars) it was a very quite Tuesday afternoon. I hope to come back for dinner sometime. Sorry I have no picture of the food we ordered. We had the pancakes with pork meat and pork pot sticker.

Delicious Authentic Chinese food!!! I haven't had such excellent ethnic food since Chinatown in the 80s!!! Quality is their key ingredient. Service was excellent. Interior of the restaurant could use some work but who really cares what it looks like when the food is this good!!!!😊

Extensive menu that differs widely from traditional American/Chinese restaurants. I'm not familiar with Northeast Chinese food, but my wife and I truly enjoyed this fare. Service had excellent snd lightingly fast! They use some ingredients thst thosenot acquainted with the cuisine would think exotic, in many of their selections. All this at quite reasonably prices. We will definitely return.

Is this the best Chinese food I’ve ever had? No. Is it the best I’ve had since moving to the Capital district from Queens? Yes. The food was quite good, except it was much too salty, and very oily. As you can see from the pic, the double cooked pork was sitting in a pool of oil. Also, don’t expect your food to come all at once, or even within 5 minutes of each other. We waited 35 minutes for our first dish, Ma Po Tofu. Meanwhile, people at other tables, who were seated after us, had already gotten some of their food. We waited a good 12 minutes for the next dish, twice cooked pork, to arrive. The next table meanwhile had four dishes of food on their table, although they too were seated after us. So although all the wait staff was very nice, I really do wonder if there is some subtle favoritism to Chinese patrons, as mentioned in other reviews. That being said, I’d return here, but I’m also continuing my search for my “go to” Chinese restaurant.

北美天馬行

Food is not very authentic as the name indicated, also have Sichuan style, we ordered two northeastern dishes, average taste and prices. Customer service is great as the waiter quickly canceled one dish order per our request.

M
Matthew Ma

One of the waiters always has an attitude as if we owe him something every time I and my friends were there. The food tastes OK but pricey. We had 6 people and asked to move to a bigger round table. They said all three big tables are reserved. Two hours later, I am sure nobody showed up for at least two of the tables. They could have come up with a better lie since there weren't many guests anyway that night.

L
Lorre S

I'm conflicted about how many stars to give because this restaurant is not like any I have ever tried in the Capital Region. It is no longer a buffet, or not all the time, anyway. I'm not sure they've settled on their format. The night I visited they were offering a hot pot buffet, which looked very good. I take it that you might ask for meats or other things that are not on the buffet because I kept seeing the waiters delivering meats, for instance to tables who requested them. There were probably 60-70 people there, and I was one of about 4 non-Asians. They all looked very very happy, and for good reason - the foods on offer are not the typical fare offered in Chinese-American restaurants in the Capital Region. The low stars number is because the service is all set up for dinner parties - I went by myself, so they had no idea what to do with me, and the menu is all wrong for one person. No one wanted to explain this to me, or help me out particularly, which I think was more because of the language barrier than overall politeness. The staff also was very tuned into all the dinner groups and really didn't have time for me, nor very much interest. When I indicated I needed help, they came to the table, so they know what they are going. The lunch menu is probably much better suited to the typical familiar experience of Chinese food in Albany. I ordered strange things because I wanted to try them, but they ended up being not to my taste, except for the mango bubble tea, which was delightful. Go with a group! Try lots of dishes! Make the staff explain things for you!

J
Jon Munitz

Food was so so, flavors were rarely in balance sometimes too under seasoned & sometimes over seasoned. Steamed dumplings were very good, braised pork and chow fun were under-seasoned, and deep fried spicy pork intestines were overly seasoned & salted. Server was wonderfully accommodating despite it being a very busy night and us needing to return one dish. Atmosphere was very nice but there were a bunch of flies.

Lakeia Madison
Lakeia Madison

It felt somewhat unwelcoming when we first arrived, as there was a brief period where no one acknowledged us. Eventually, a young man noticed us, seated us, and handed us menus. However, after that, we waited long enough to start wondering if anyone would actually come over to take our order. Once we did place our order, the food arrived surprisingly fast—probably within 10 minutes. While we’ve seen other reviews mention long wait times, that wasn’t our experience. The food was okay, but the lack of hospitality makes it unlikely that I’d return.

I tried a few good dishes but disappointed with their belly pork (红烧肉). Food served within minutes upon ordering. Nice dumpling and they served good vinegar!!

Ahmet S

Spacious restaurant, it is a little bit difficult to have conversation with servers. Beef with cumin was delicious but i wish they add more meat instead of onion. It might be only Chinese restaurant to charge extra for the rice.

F
Florentina Bacaj

Been to this place two times and both times consisted of very long wait times for pretty much everything. Both times I’ve been in it was about a 15 minute wait before anyone came to talk to the table. Water took a while to come to the table. This place is BYOB so wine glasses took a while to come to the table. We ordered apps. Apps took a while to come to the table, you get the hint. What really instilled the 2-star rating is because each individual person at the table got their meals 15-20 minutes apart from each other and by the time the last person (me) got their food, we had decided to get the bill because we knew that would take a while too. This place seems to be ran by young adults, which is great, but there needs to be way more organization. The staff if very sweet but no one really knows what they’re doing and it shows.

Food here makes me angry. I've always loved handmade dumplings from the Northeast, but theirs tasted too much like Fujianese dumplings and apparently used very cheap ingredients. Very bad aftertaste. I mostly wanted to try the 锅包肉 because of the good reviews, and that was very disappointing too even for someone not from the area.

M
Mr. Nuclear

Do you want watery, nasty food? Well I have just the place for you! Northeast Chinese II. Why they let anyone make a second one is beyond me. I have no idea what the other reviews are talking about. Avoid this place at all costs, it is not worth your time or money. All the food we got was watery and tasted like nothing. There isn't even a hint of authenticity in its taste. Please, save your money - you won't regret it.

Apparently rice is ordered separately from an entree. That's not apparent anywhere on Uber eats. Also, the sesame chicken is old and chewy. The dip foe their dumplings smelled and tasted toxic. Do not recommend at all.

J

This was probably the worst Chinese food I have ever had. I ordered the spicy Szechuan chicken which was so dry and over spiced (and I like spicy food ). It tasted like it was sitting there all day. Tons of inedible peppers in the dish. Just awful. The pork egg rolls were dripping with grease. Very disappointed

ordered hot pot with 7 other friends, thought it would be good. took nearly 2 hours to get our meats and noodles, the waiter gave the excuse that they were cutting the meats, but the meats came in frozen so hm.. the soup base itself was not flavorful at all. i got half and half, so half spicy, half non spicy. the spicy side was far too spicy, it was not just me who thought so, all my friends agreed with me. its almost like they took boiled water and dumped chili oil and szechuan peppercorns in it, and hoped it would taste good. the soup base itself tasted like nothing. the non spicy side tasted like nothing, despite smelling promising. dont come here for the hot pot. you will be disappointed.

This place is near our house and review aren't that bad so we wanted to give it a try so ordered house special fried rice and beef stewed with turnip. House special fried rice was supposed to have shrimp, pork and chicken according to their menu but there wasn't a single piece of shrimp inside. Beef stewed with turnip, oh please, they should named their dish Turnip Soup with a few pieces of beef. Stew originally should have thick consistency like starchy texture but this one is totally a water based soup with TONS of turnip and very very few pieces of beef which we had to dive in to find some. I'm an Asian myself and I would like to give 0 star if i can for this restaurant. It's unbelievable, someone with this worse culinary skill dare to open a restaurant. Seriously! had worst foods in my life.

Buyer beware dumplings were the dumplings you buy out of the dollar tree freezer. Also the lomein noodles overcooked but told they couldn't do any about that. How about stop overcooking. Noodles best aledente style. After spending 20.00 and called back to share my experience told by Lee that Hason on vacation until end of month 3 weeks from now. SMH no apology discount next visit which I wonder if the chef is a chef at all. Not your usual Chinese restaurant with an aim to stay in business. They will be closing soon seriously due to poor quality

First time, ordered delivery. Pan fried dumplings, no flavor, just came with salty soy. House Lo Mein was all oil.. no flavor or sauce. Chicken and broccoli had a little flavor, but was very oily. Very unsatisfied with the food. Would not recommend!

Service was eh. They never checked on us and only brought one dish out at a time. Had to wait additional 10 min for my husband's food to be brought out while mine got cold sitting on the table. Food had a weird taste and we could only eat couple bites. So pretty much it was a $45 meal that will now be fed to my dogs.

In our recent visit, we saw racist side of Northeastern restaurant. All the Chinese people who came after us got served quicker with their food. We waited even for my son wonton soup and rice who placed his order within minutes of us entering the restaurant as he was hungry, and that food came after the entire order of a Chinese family was brought to their table and who came to the restaurant after we placed our order of food. We got the crispy chicken which came after another Chinese family who came after 40 minutes of our arrival got their entire order that came one by one within minutes apart. At this point 2 Chinese family got their entire order served at their table. We finished the crispy chicken because that was only item of the 3 things we ordered came. We have to get the attention of the owners who said he would check and never came back with an answer. My daughter suggested that can we leave paying for what we ate, at the right moment the double cooked pork belly came out. Then after 5 minutes the last order came out. So for a item 4 items and 3 rice we waited for an hour and half. The worst part we were hungry and we were watching Chinese people eat because they were served quicker and promptly within minutes of their in the restaurant. We're paying for the food and not getting free food. So if you are not Chinese or white, you will be served like a third class citizen. Not good for your dignity if to be treated like this.

Terrible service for mediocre food. Their "special" braised pork belly is very bland and inconsistent. Albany has sooooo many other great Chinese places and heck even other Asian spots! Don't even bother coming here. Especially if you plan to bring a big group the prices are not worth the size! Parking there is terrible as well! Rather park on the street than that dangerous lot

I don’t normally complain or write reviews but I had to….I think that had to be the worst general tso chicken I ever had and the egg roll was most definitely spoiled. That one bite was the end of the meal. I was scared of getting sick

The online menu isn't clear at all; ended up paying $35 for just 2 regular containers of chicken with no rice and no egg rolls. The chicken wasn't even good. Total waste of money.

not sure how it was given such kind of high review history. but here is my personal experience. we ordered a few dishes, and tasted ok. But you cannot believe that our family got Diarrhea after that experience. I am reporting to the food regulation authority right now (Regional Environmental Health Programs), hopefully they can look into this issue. It was absolutely hilarious experience and i, personally won't go back there any more.

We would give this place zero stars if we could, but that is not an option. We ordered $75 worth of Chinese food from here and none of it was good. Even more so, we have been sick for 3 days since eating from here. Way over priced and bland food. We will not be coming here again.

This might actually be the worst tasting Chinese food I’ve ever had in my entire life. That was supposed to be pork fried rice. It’s got strings of some kind of beef in it, but it doesn’t taste anything like pork and has no taste to it at all… The dumplings the sauce they gave me was vinegar. I’ve never in my life had vinegar with dumplings, and then the Chicken with broccoli super bland no taste at all… Definitely the most expensive Chinese food I’ve ever ordered and the worst

You know you’ve got good take out when you smell the food all the way home. Don’t worry…you won’t have that issue here. Awful. The steam dumplings have WAY more wrapping than filling. Fried rice is not only devoid of any resemblance to pork fried rice, but untasty as well. Wontons in soup were meh at best. Bok choy in garlic also doesn’t taste like much ($14+ for limp watery vegetable). Save your $$. Nothing authentic about this place.
