The food is always wonderful, the service is great! We got there for breakfast at least once a week :-)
I mainly go for breakfast on weekends, and occasionally during the week if I'm off work, very fast service, the server's add the "personal touch" meaning they get to know their customers, I get called by my first name, they enjoy chatting with the customer.
Great place for large breakfast and lunches. Seems ĺike everybody ĥad been there before.Great fast&friendly servìce
I have never tried shrimp and grits before. I will admit, that I was a little hesitant, When it came to ordering that particular menu item, so I asked the waitress, do you guys sell a lot of shrimp and grits, and she said it was a fairly new item on the menu, been on the menu for about a month, and that it has been very popular, with thier customers. So I decided to give it a try... Oh you have no idea, just how good that food was! That was probably the best restaurant food, I have eaten at a restaurant, in years! I'm telling you, thee best food ever! I highly suggest that dish, to anyone, especially to people who say they do not eat grits, oh my gosh, please take my word for it, and give the Shrimp and Grits a try. Very tasty and absolutely delicious 😋 I have tried other things on the menu over the years, and everything is delicious, but that shrimp and grits, was some of the best food I have ever eaten. Great job Sukie's!
My favorite place for breakfast - love their pancakes! Linguica sausage is delicious. Homey diner where Spanish and English are spoken equally. Food is hot, fresh and quick.
This restaurant is a true gem! From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with warm smiles and impeccable service. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and made us feel right at home. The food was nothing short of spectacular—each dish was crafted with care, bursting with bold yet balanced flavors. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, while the roasted vegetables had just the right touch of seasoning. The ambiance was both modern and cozy, with soft lighting and elegant decor that made for an intimate dining experience. It’s a must-visit spot for anyone who loves innovative yet comforting cuisine.
A dining experience that exceeded all expectations! The service was exemplary, with the staff delivering attentive and personalized care that made us feel truly special. The food was a celebration of American culinary heritage, with each dish crafted to perfection and bursting with authentic flavors. The cozy ambiance, complete with warm lighting and traditional decor, added an inviting touch to the overall experience. A hidden gem that showcases the best of American cuisine and hospitality!
The place is showing its age, but the people and food are great. My wife and I split an omelet, and they serve it like i ordered two meals. I didn't have to ask. The portions are generous also. We don't walk out hungry.
I'm always going to be delighted when I go to Sukie's. It's a magical place to me because it feels like a real diner with a real authentic vibe instead of just diner decor. The big thing that makes Sukie's stand out is the food. Not every dish is glamorous, not at all, but you can get comfortable learning what you like. For me, the Sukie's Corned Beef Hash is the big winner. You can ask for it crispier which in my opinion is a big improvement. Fatty, thick chunks of corned beef decorate a plate of home fries with bell pepper and onion. Really divine! I liked the Portuguese skillet as well with the linguiça. The coffee is always coming and it is pretty good (darker roast than I usually use but I put plenty of cream in mine). You can always ask for sides and additions and the staff has always been friendly and attentive. I love the place! It's a bit far from us or we would go there all the time. The price might be a little high for the area but at the same time this is a "you get what you pay for" situation and I do think there is a sort of luxury in sitting in a diner eating food of this quality while coffee is endlessly refilled for you. Strongly recommend Sukie's as it's a bastion in a metropolitan area where diner style restaurants usually disappoint.
Pretty good! The chicken strips for our chicken and waffles were still raw inside, but they remade them for us. At least we knew they weren't premade and frozen! Tables fill up fast. Good place for a simple breakfast spot.
We are in love with Sukie's biscuits and gravy! We discovered this venue a few months ago, and after my first bite, I knew this is the only local place to come for biscuits and gravy. After moving to the area from the south I have been on the lookout for good biscuits and gravy. I have yet to find a place with amazing ones, but until then these ones make the cut. The biscuits are very fluffy and fresh, and they always have enough gravy to cover them. They are always busy, but we never have to wait more than a minute or two for a table.
Old fashioned diner-style restaurant with heaping portions and hearty meals. There's usually a long wait on weekends, a little to no wait weekdays. Their house made corned beef hash is good, and their meat stuffed pancake is decadent and delicious! They have a great gravy too, it's rich and peppery. The best gravy I've found in the East Bay. Service is friendly but can be slow(weekends), so if you have some patience you'll enjoy yourself. Booths in front, large tables in back, counter spots. Coffee is decent.
The cook on December 29th at 8:24 AM was not good and needs to be let go. I can tell there are two chefs in the kitchen: one consistently prepares superb food, while the other is a cause for concern. I recently ordered grits, an omelet, and toast—simple enough, right? However, the toast was burnt, the grits had a terrible aftertaste, and the eggs were slimy and undercooked. Suki, with your price increases, your loyal customers expect the food to taste great all the time, not just on occasions or depending on who is cooking. This is why I gave the restaurant 3 stars. While I have enjoyed many delicious meals here, I’ve also had my share of bad experiences, leading me to toss food in the trash and prepare my own meals instead.
Good: Good mom and pop restaurant in ages serving breakfast and lunch. My personal favorite is the Chicken Fajita Omelette. Bad (Update 5/23/2021): When it comes to ordering by phone for a (1) Ranch Skillet with hashbrowns together instead of country potatoes and two (2) Chicken Fajita Omelettes, I get one Chicken Fajita Omelette and a full order of a Ranch Skillet in separate trays. This caused further delays from everyone else who made phone orders after me. Please find someone who is great at receiving orders by phone. This is the second time when Ranch Skillet order has gone wrong. Missing a second order of Chicken Fajita Omelette? Yes. Manager did give me a discount, but that didn't improve from mistakes prior. I almost walked out with nothing. Until then, not sure about going back unless I see a reviews phone orders are on par. I don't care how long it took to get the order. The bottom line is the order came wrong. Please do be clear when making phone orders. You guys might have better luck than I. Good luck.
The mashed potatoes are terrible ever since the recipe changed. The chicken strips are good but they’ve changed too. I don’t know what management was thinking when they decided to change it as well as not serve their brown gravy, but if they don’t revert back to the original recipes, I won’t be eating at Sukie’s ever again.
The worst grits I’ve ever had in my life. No butter, salt or pepper. Lacked flavor. The home fries were just okay. I had to season them both before eating.
