Came here mainly for the pumpkin fries and Thai milk tea dessert, and they were both worth it. The pumpkin fries are sliced very thin and fried crispy without being heavy or greasy—super fragrant and easy to finish by yourself. The clay rice was also solid, with pork, Chinese sausage, and egg cooked separately so each flavor really stands out; the rice itself is aromatic and not oily. Dessert was a pleasant surprise too—the Thai milk tea ice cream wasn’t overly sweet and was very refreshing. The location is a bit out of the way, but the space is comfortable with warm lighting and a relaxed vibe, perfect for sitting, chatting, and taking your time with the meal. Overall, a nice spot in Gramercy for a cozy, laid-back Thai dinner.

I work nearby and finally decided to have lunch in the neighborhood instead of the cafeteria. I spent a summer in Thailand 20 years ago and have to say the food here is absolutely authentic! I got the Roti massuman for appetizer and the crab fried rice for the main. And WOW these simple foods blew me away! Of course I had to get the Thai iced tea to go despite it being 10 degrees outside. The staff are polite and respectful and the epitome of Thai hospitality. I will definitely be bringing all my people here. I can’t wait to finish the crab fried rice at home tonight!

Great Thai spot in Gramercy with an excellent weekday happy hour (11:30am–5pm), especially the $2 oysters which were fresh and flavorful. We loved the shrimp mango salad for its refreshing sweet-and-spicy balance, and the crab fried rice was generous with real jumbo lump crab meat. The steamed whole sea bass was tender, aromatic, and full of classic Thai flavors. Drinks were solid too — the yuzu margarita was bright and refreshing, and the lychee martini went down very smoothly.

Malii is one of my favourite Thai restaurants in the city. The food is always so authentic and delicious, and the portion size is so good for the value, I always walk away super satisfied and stuffed. The interior is nice -- elegant decor and nice tableware, but just a bit cramped at many of the booths. I usually try to make a reservation before coming, but I almost always see at least a few tables available for walk-ins. We were able to try one of the seasonal specials, the pumpkin curry with chicken. It was so delicious -- I like that the curry itself was flavourful without being so heavy as to cover up the slightly sweet flavour of the pumpkin. Some other highlights -- the fried pork belly appetizer was delicious (albeit a bit heavy with garlic), and the portion size was huge for an appetizer. The pad see ew and pad thai were both very tasty. The chicken (we opted for chicken for both) was really nicely cooked and very tender, and both dishes had perfectly chewy noodles without being too bland or strongly sauced. The khao soi was a bit less of a standout. The broth had a nice, rich flavour, but the chicken was somewhat harder to chew, and the veggies tended to get soggy really quickly. The noodles (both cooked and crispy) were really yummy and I liked the contrast in textures. The Thai tea sizzling roti was a really interesting dessert to try -- it's an eclectic mix of strips of roti, thai tea ice cream, marshmallows, corn flakes (?!), and whipped cream. The portion size is huge and each piece added a really interesting flavour and texture aspect to the overall plate. The contrasts in temperatures (hot roti, cold ice cream) and mouthfeels was really remarkable, and somehow it wasn't too sweet at all. Portion sizes were really large across the board, and the price point was super good for how delicious everything was. I am definitely keen to come back to try even more of their yummy dishes.

This sizzling Thai Tea roti is pretty impressive. When it comes out on the hot plate, it’s literally sizzling — looks dramatic but tastes great. The Thai tea ice cream with roti, marshmallows, and crunchy cereal is such a fun combo, and it’s the dish I recommend the most. The mains were also solid. Here are the ones I’d recommend: Khao Soi My favorite dish. It’s like a curry version of spicy ramen. It’s rich and flavorful. Pumpkin Curry Beef My friend’s top pick. The curry is strong and goes really well with rice, but the pumpkin was a bit firm. Tom Kha Chicken Very aromatic, and the coconut milk ratio is just right. Pad Thai Boran Worth ordering. It comes wrapped in an egg omelet, just like the version I had in Bangkok. Pretty rare to see this style in New York. Lychee Duck Curry Lightly sweet with pineapple and fruity notes. They’re generous with the duck. Overall, Malii is a Thai restaurant I’d go back to. The flavors are on the richer side, and the sizzling Thai Tea roti is definitely the standout.

Had dinner at Malii in Gramercy and it totally hit the spot. The roasted basil pork belly was the highlight for me — super crispy, really flavorful, and just one of those dishes you keep thinking about after. Everything else we tried was solid too, and the staff was really friendly without being over the top. It’s a cozy little spot and perfect for a chill dinner in the neighborhood. Would definitely go back just for that pork belly.

My family and I enjoyed a wonderful family dinner! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, which is perfect for a relaxed evening with my loved ones. The best restaurant we have been to in a long time!! We ordered two cocktails with Thai twists, the fried pork belly, the lychee curry duck and clay pot rice. We were so impressed by every single dish, they were packed with umami, and the texture of them were amazing too. The food babies we had after finishing everything were soooo worth it! The staff was super kind too! I can’t recommend this restaurant enough! Best of luck x Update: we went again on our last day in NYC, we still liked what we got but somehow the dishes were not as good as the first time… we got crab fried rice, crispy pork belly with basil, summer roll and mango sticky rice. On weekend nights it’s better to get reservations, but be prepared for a very loud environment. Weekdays are better and normally you don’t need a reservation.

This was my first time dining at Malii Gramercy restaurant. I was very impressed. The food was amazing delicious.
