Malii Gramercy was such a great experience. The CHO MUANG was absolutely amazing—so unique and beautifully made, nothing like I’ve had anywhere else. The crab fried rice was loaded with crab meat and tasted so fresh and flavorful. We ended with the sizzling roti for dessert and it was incredible—the perfect sweet finish to the meal. Everything was so good and well executed. Definitely coming back!
Malii Gramercy lived up to its 4.8 rating with a beautiful ambiance and impeccable food. We tried the $119 Lovebirds set and every dish impressed—the Tom Yum wings were crispy and perfectly spiced, the Lemongrass Sea Bass was flaky and flavorful, and the Pad Thai Boran wrapped in an egg net was both stunning and delicious. Added the minced beef basil rice (a must-try). Cocktails were lovely too. Cozy, aesthetic, and ideal for a date night. Highly recommend!
Had dinner at Malii Thai Kitchen in Gramercy and honestly everything we ordered was solid — not a single miss. The restaurant itself has a cozy but modern vibe, perfect for dinner with friends or a date night. Service was attentive and the pacing of dishes was great. Definitely one of the better Thai meals I’ve had in NYC. Would come back again.
I came here for the $45pp restaurant week dinner and was happy with my experience! My mom got the sweet crab (ray rai), branzino (pla kamin) and churros dessert. I got the tamarind wings, grilled pork chop and coconut ice cream sundae. The service was very efficient and the food was very tasty and flavorful, we did not wait long for each course. The only issue was my dessert: It brought out with peanuts after I had just told the waitress I was allergic, but this was fixed very quickly and I was given a new dessert. The ice cream sundae also had pieces of corn in it, which was… interesting. Overall, I would come back!!
We’ve been meaning to try this place and glad we finally did. They specialize in 'Royal Thai Cuisine,' and the dishes are not only beautifully presented but also delicious. Must-Try Dishes: Pad Thai Boran Wrapped in an egg net and topped with huge shrimp (lobster tail size!), the noodles are perfectly springy, and the sweet-sour balance is excellent. Steamed Sea Bass with Lime: The fish is super tender, drenched in a classic Thai sour-spicy sauce. Easily the best sour-spicy dish we’ve had recently. Crab Fried Rice: The rice grains are perfectly separated, and they are incredibly generous with the crab meat Clay fried rice: Great portion and variety of proteins including sausages, shrimps, pork…Also love the mushrooms and chestnut touch! Cho Muang: These blue/purple dumplings are a classic, savory palace snack. Their mocktails are also pretty and reasonably priced.
The food here so good! Oysters with chili jam Thai seafood sauce and crispy shallots very special, I really like it! For the entree i love pad thai boran the most!!!☺️ will come back again
It was my first time coming here after being recommended on social media and it did not disappoint! Of all the Thai restaurants I’ve tried, this one probably takes a top spot. The flavors were well-balanced from start to finish. Highly recommend the papaya salad, steamed sea bass, and crab fried rice. For dessert, the Thai tea sizzling roti was a unique mix of savory and sweet. 10/10 recommend!!
Malii Gramercy is a great spot for Thai food in Manhattan. We ordered several dishes and everything was well executed with bold, balanced flavors. The Shrimp Pumpkin Curry was rich and comforting, with tender shrimp and creamy pumpkin in a fragrant red curry. The Tom Yum soup was bright and refreshing — properly sour and spicy, not watered down. The Lychee Duck Curry was a standout: crispy roasted duck paired surprisingly well with lychee and pineapple, giving a nice sweet-savory contrast. The Crispy Sea Bass was perfectly fried with a crunchy exterior, topped with a fresh and spicy mango salad. The Pad Thai Boran felt more traditional than most — not overly sweet, great wok flavor, and wrapped in a delicate egg net. For dessert, the Thai Tea Sizzling Roti was a fun and satisfying finish.
I recently had a meal here with friends and the food was delicious! They have classic dishes but also many amazing signatures. I had the pumpkin fries (winter special), roti massamun, shrimp mango salad, cho muang (instantly a new favorite), tom kha, lychee duck curry, crab fried rice, mango sticky rice, and the Thai tea sizzling roti. There's more from the menu I wanr to try in the future like the sea bass! Definitely recommend visiting!
Came here mainly for the pumpkin fries and Thai milk tea dessert, and they were both worth it. The pumpkin fries are sliced very thin and fried crispy without being heavy or greasy—super fragrant and easy to finish by yourself. The clay rice was also solid, with pork, Chinese sausage, and egg cooked separately so each flavor really stands out; the rice itself is aromatic and not oily. Dessert was a pleasant surprise too—the Thai milk tea ice cream wasn’t overly sweet and was very refreshing. The location is a bit out of the way, but the space is comfortable with warm lighting and a relaxed vibe, perfect for sitting, chatting, and taking your time with the meal. Overall, a nice spot in Gramercy for a cozy, laid-back Thai dinner.
I work nearby and finally decided to have lunch in the neighborhood instead of the cafeteria. I spent a summer in Thailand 20 years ago and have to say the food here is absolutely authentic! I got the Roti massuman for appetizer and the crab fried rice for the main. And WOW these simple foods blew me away! Of course I had to get the Thai iced tea to go despite it being 10 degrees outside. The staff are polite and respectful and the epitome of Thai hospitality. I will definitely be bringing all my people here. I can’t wait to finish the crab fried rice at home tonight!
Great Thai spot in Gramercy with an excellent weekday happy hour (11:30am–5pm), especially the $2 oysters which were fresh and flavorful. We loved the shrimp mango salad for its refreshing sweet-and-spicy balance, and the crab fried rice was generous with real jumbo lump crab meat. The steamed whole sea bass was tender, aromatic, and full of classic Thai flavors. Drinks were solid too — the yuzu margarita was bright and refreshing, and the lychee martini went down very smoothly.
Malii is one of my favourite Thai restaurants in the city. The food is always so authentic and delicious, and the portion size is so good for the value, I always walk away super satisfied and stuffed. The interior is nice -- elegant decor and nice tableware, but just a bit cramped at many of the booths. I usually try to make a reservation before coming, but I almost always see at least a few tables available for walk-ins. We were able to try one of the seasonal specials, the pumpkin curry with chicken. It was so delicious -- I like that the curry itself was flavourful without being so heavy as to cover up the slightly sweet flavour of the pumpkin. Some other highlights -- the fried pork belly appetizer was delicious (albeit a bit heavy with garlic), and the portion size was huge for an appetizer. The pad see ew and pad thai were both very tasty. The chicken (we opted for chicken for both) was really nicely cooked and very tender, and both dishes had perfectly chewy noodles without being too bland or strongly sauced. The khao soi was a bit less of a standout. The broth had a nice, rich flavour, but the chicken was somewhat harder to chew, and the veggies tended to get soggy really quickly. The noodles (both cooked and crispy) were really yummy and I liked the contrast in textures. The Thai tea sizzling roti was a really interesting dessert to try -- it's an eclectic mix of strips of roti, thai tea ice cream, marshmallows, corn flakes (?!), and whipped cream. The portion size is huge and each piece added a really interesting flavour and texture aspect to the overall plate. The contrasts in temperatures (hot roti, cold ice cream) and mouthfeels was really remarkable, and somehow it wasn't too sweet at all. Portion sizes were really large across the board, and the price point was super good for how delicious everything was. I am definitely keen to come back to try even more of their yummy dishes.
This sizzling Thai Tea roti is pretty impressive. When it comes out on the hot plate, it’s literally sizzling — looks dramatic but tastes great. The Thai tea ice cream with roti, marshmallows, and crunchy cereal is such a fun combo, and it’s the dish I recommend the most. The mains were also solid. Here are the ones I’d recommend: Khao Soi My favorite dish. It’s like a curry version of spicy ramen. It’s rich and flavorful. Pumpkin Curry Beef My friend’s top pick. The curry is strong and goes really well with rice, but the pumpkin was a bit firm. Tom Kha Chicken Very aromatic, and the coconut milk ratio is just right. Pad Thai Boran Worth ordering. It comes wrapped in an egg omelet, just like the version I had in Bangkok. Pretty rare to see this style in New York. Lychee Duck Curry Lightly sweet with pineapple and fruity notes. They’re generous with the duck. Overall, Malii is a Thai restaurant I’d go back to. The flavors are on the richer side, and the sizzling Thai Tea roti is definitely the standout.
Had dinner at Malii in Gramercy and it totally hit the spot. The roasted basil pork belly was the highlight for me — super crispy, really flavorful, and just one of those dishes you keep thinking about after. Everything else we tried was solid too, and the staff was really friendly without being over the top. It’s a cozy little spot and perfect for a chill dinner in the neighborhood. Would definitely go back just for that pork belly.
My family and I enjoyed a wonderful family dinner! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, which is perfect for a relaxed evening with my loved ones. The staff — Oaddy, Nicky, and Earn — were attentive and friendly, making sure we felt comfortable throughout our visit. The food was also a highlight! Each dish was authentically prepared and full of flavor. My family and o appreciated the variety and quality of the menu, which made it easy to find something for everyone in our group of six.
The best restaurant we have been to in a long time!! We ordered two cocktails with Thai twists, the fried pork belly, the lychee curry duck and clay pot rice. We were so impressed by every single dish, they were packed with umami, and the texture of them were amazing too. The food babies we had after finishing everything were soooo worth it! The staff was super kind too! I can’t recommend this restaurant enough! Best of luck x Update: we went again on our last day in NYC, we still liked what we got but somehow the dishes were not as good as the first time… we got crab fried rice, crispy pork belly with basil, summer roll and mango sticky rice. On weekend nights it’s better to get reservations, but be prepared for a very loud environment. Weekdays are better and normally you don’t need a reservation.
🍴✨ Hidden Thai Gem in NYC: Malii Gramercy ✨🍴 This elegant yet vibrant Thai restaurant is the perfect spot for date nights, dinner with friends, or a cozy solo meal. Here are my top pick you have to try 👇 🥥 LG Tom Kha Shrimp The moment it arrived, the aroma was incredible! The coconut broth is rich and creamy with just the right touch of tang and spice. The shrimp are fresh and perfectly tender — comforting yet full of flavor. 🍜 Pad Thai Boran A must-order classic! Their version stays true to the traditional Thai recipe — the sauce is perfectly balanced between sweet and tangy, the noodles are chewy, and the crushed peanuts and lime bring it all together beautifully. Pure happiness in one bite 💥 🦀 Softshell Crab Karee Crispy on the outside, tender inside — the softshell crab is coated in a mild curry sauce that’s both sweet and slightly spicy. So flavorful and layered — definitely my favorite dish of the night! 🐟 Crispy Sea Bass The sea bass is perfectly fried — crisp on the outside, juicy and flaky inside. The tangy-sweet sauce complements it perfectly. Best enjoyed hot and shared with friends! 🥭 Mango Sticky Rice Save room for dessert! The mango is perfectly ripe and sweet, paired with fragrant sticky rice and creamy coconut milk — the ultimate tropical comfort bite 🌴 🍸 Lychee Berry Fizz A refreshing cocktail that’s as pretty as it tastes! The mix of lychee and berries is light, fruity, and perfectly balanced — an ideal drink to start or end your meal. 💬 Overall: Malii Gramercy is the kind of place you’ll want to come back to. Every dish is made with care, the ambiance feels upscale yet inviting, and the price is totally reasonable. A must-try if you’re in NYC! 🌶️Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 📍Address: 391 2nd Ave, New York, NY 10010
Absolutely loved this place! Every dish was flavorful and well-balanced — especially the fried pork belly, tom yum wings, and lychee duck curry. The Thai tea and mango mousse cake were the perfect finish. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and great portion sizes. Definitely one of the best Thai spots! 🇹🇭🍴
This was my first time dining at Malii Gramercy restaurant. I was very impressed. The food was amazing delicious. I started with the duck bun, restaurant week menu (chicken tamarind and tom yam raman) and the softshell crab karee. It was incredibly delicious. The waitress was friendly and the service was great. I love this place and will definitely be back.

Good value casual Thai spot for the area. The really high rating rating might be due to the qr code on tables that offers free thai tea for reviews. It's no longer used, and the food is good enough to stand on its own. Liked the light summer rolls and the shank was delicious.
