LOVEEEEEE THE FOOD HERE! Very delicious!!! Best ever I’ve ever had!
my favorite pho spot in the city. i’ve always ordered the same thing so i can tell you that #8 pho is super yum. service is good, i do find that sometimes i want a water refill and it’s a little slower, and sometimes i don’t want to wait for the bill so i just pay at the counter before leaving. atmosphere is homey, great place to chat with friends but maybe not the most glamorous
Definition of comfort food. Generous portions — finally a decent amount of rice in the city. Array of table sauces to season your food as you like. Can be a touch salty but it’s wasn’t to the point that it was inedible. Atmosphere is homey and nostalgic for any South East Asian. Went back for a second time less that a week later. I look forward to trying the whole menu.
Still THE BEST PHO!!! I came back to check, and yes, they're still the best. Spring rolls were perfect too. Yum, enjoy THE BEST PHO IN NYC!!! This place has been here since forever, my high school friends first brought me here and it was fun being the only non Asian in the place! Now there are all kinds of people who eat here, but very little else has changed, including the taste, decor, waiters and prices. First off, the bowl is huge (you could order regular size instead), the broth is incredible, the fixings are fresh, the meat is so bloody at first and so cooked by the time you eat them, yummy. I like the real pho with all the cow parts like tendons, tripe and some gelatinous stuff - AUTHENTIC!!! They have like 15 varieties of pho, as well as an array of appetizers, more Americanized fare like rice and pork chops, and dessert too. It's all delicious. It's all a good value and it all will make you think that you're in Vietnam. Enjoy!
We haven't been to a Vietnamese restaurant in Manhattan in awhile. Pho Bang was our choice! The chopsticks, napkins, and hot sauces etc, are on the table so it is that kind of atmosphere. You come here to eat! Not a fancy place. But! The food was really good! The server/waiters were helpful by telling us how to roll up our food with the fresh mint and lettuce. Showed us how to dunk in the sauces. Generous portions too. We would go back. The ratings for this place are based on the food- not the chairs, the decor, the age of the last renovation.
Was walking around the city with a friend when we happened upon this place. The interior did not have much decor but the staff immediately welcomed us creating a warm atmosphere. We asked our waiter what his favorite Pho was and he said #8 which is what we both got and it was delicious. The slices of beef were very tender while the broth was flavorful. There were so many noodles in the dish that it truly felt like there was an endless supply of them for a while. The portion was huge and definitely filled us up. So glad we stopped by this place and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for some amazing pho.
Ran into this place randomly one night and ran into Rich Brian lol. The food was pretty decent t with big portions. The restaurant is more of a modernized asian cuisine with attentive staff. The menu has tons of unfamiliar items, if you feel confused just ask the staff they’ll explain it to you quickly. But I will say this, they have a very good selection on protein options.
Yes, this spot has a C rating, but honestly every time my friend and I have come, we’ve never seen any bugs—and let’s be real, it’s the LES, so that’s not uncommon anywhere. We’re definitely going to keep coming back. The food is amazing! My friend and I are obsessed with the pho, and I personally love the pork banh mi—the baguette is perfect: soft enough that it doesn’t scrape the roof of your mouth like others do. I recently tried the iced coffee, and our server was so kind in showing us how to properly mix and pour it, which made the experience even better. We also really love the origin story behind this restaurant and supporting family-run businesses, which makes us want to root for them even more. Ending our meal with a pot of tea has become a little tradition, and we always finish every last drop. We truly hope this place continues to improve and thrive because we want to keep bringing all our friends here! <3
@netgonenutsforfood It was too hot for Pho so I settled with a refreshing salad and summer rolls instead. The beef rolls had green onions inside, which made them super sweet! Overall, an enjoyable quick meal in Chinatown when you’re on a rush and after good value for money because this bowl was ginormous
The food was great. The service is not that good, they gave my fried chicken to another family and then when I asked about it, they tried to return it back to us. I told them that we’d like a new one. The older man in the front is efficient, but everyone else seems a bit lost and untrained. Overall, this place is tasty. But they also had a few flies around the place. This is one of those places where the food is great, but everything else is not. I’m conflicted.
It's been several years since I've been back and after today, might be several more (if ever). Sorry, the food was just very underwhelming... Pho broth was bland; the spring rolls were also tasteless with the skin too thick. Waitress was nice and attentive, as was the older gentlemen. Place was pretty empty at lunch time, which should mostly tell you everything you need to know. Too many options in the area, I wish them luck...
ordered the regular beef pho and my friend ordered the pho with chicken. the broth was lackluster, which is the most important part of pho. it wasn’t bad, but the flavor just wasn’t there and i’ve better. gave us lemons instead of limes which was like……unexpected. siracha was watered down too. the vibe was okay but you don’t eat the vibe…
The food isn’t anything to rave about. It’s decent at best. Or maybe I just came on the wrong day. It was a Sunday afternoon with not many patrons. As we entered we were greeted promptly and seated . They do need to work on training their staff instead of yelling and demanding the waitress. We found that pretty rude. The waitress was nice. The food came out on time. The summer rolls were okay. The pork in the summer rolls tasted a bit odd. The shrimp in the summer rolls were good. Also ordered the vermicelli noodles with grilled pork. It’s what I usually get at Vietnamese restaurants. Wasn’t blown away by the taste. The portion sizes on all dishes were great. But the flavor lacked on all the dishes. What disappointed the most were the fried spring rolls. They tasted super stale. My girlfriend got a seafood soup dish with noodles that she seems to enjoy, but she did mention the broth was pretty bland. Overall we had a decent experience. Nothing to rave about. We left with full tummies , but disappointed in the lack of flavors in the dishes. Staff was nice (except for the management yelling at the waitress in front of patrons) , interior is what’s expected for a hole in the wall. Probably wouldn’t come back here with there being much better options in the area.
The food was good but one of the older male staff gave us attitude and pushed us out of the restaurant after only 45 minutes. A customer told us that we were being disrespected because we’re young, female teenagers. We tipped around 25% and were out in under an hour. The food was good but the customer service from one employee ruined it. We were pushed out of the restaurant and disrespected. No matter how good the food is, the customer service will always determine the true restaurant’s quality. The female enployees were nice to make up for it.
My family and I got food poisoning from the takeout we got from this restaurant. Great, and I find out from reading the reviews that it has a C rating. Granted, the service was great, but you don't really know what goes on behind the scenes, like in the kitchen.
