Best panini I’ve had in the city. The ingredients are very fresh and their bread is scrumptious!
Small shop no frills, but no need for gimmicks when you have the best sandwich in Manhattan- especially in the Financial District. Amazing portion too! If you are working or visiting, don’t let the humble outside fool you- step in or order online.
These sandwiches are huge! They have huge slabs of fresh mozzarella (my personal favorite) and they do not skimp on the meat. The bread is also amazing. If you are on the go, a half sandwich is more than enough. My husband and I should have shared one! I ordered the Bari and he ordered the Sorrento. Delicious!
Great sandwich for a celebration. One of the biggest subs I've ever seen. Sesame seed break for the win.
Great Italian sandwiches! I've been here a few times and I've always left satisfied. The service is quick and friendly and the ingredients are always super fresh. The sandwiches are a little pricey but as others have mentioned are huge, so it's worth it. One can easily be filling enough for two people for lunch. Only downside is that they are cash only but considering the location there are plenty of banks and ATMs around including inside the store.
Amazing sandwich! This small sandwich shop has a big menu with amazing sandwiches. You can choose different type of rolls. I had a special, which was very tasteful, the ingredients were full of flavor and were from a high quality. When ordering in shop it’s cash only, but you can order online too and pay by card that way. Prices are ok. Avg around $18-22 The service is really good, friendly and helpful. They work fast. Shop is small with only a few seats.
Pisillo is definitely one of my favorite sandwiches in the city and I have been coming here for ~ 5 years. I love taking visitors to NY here too. I will have to say that the Parma with the smoked mozzarella is probably my favorite but I’ve really experienced not a single miss here. The staff are always lovely and get sandwiches out efficiently! Also, they’re open reasonably late for a sandwich shop that’s not Subway or a deli (8pm) so I do love being able to swing by after work. Tips: 1. Some of the standard bread can be a little bit tough to chew (or maybe I’m just a weak sandwich eater and I get the wheat bread) but upgrading to the foccacia is a much softer and a bit lighter bread and the fillings have an easier time staying in the sandwich. 2: bring a friend to split with or plan to save half as these are super hefty as many people have said in the comments. I’ve had these sandwiches keep in the fridge overnight with no issue. 3: try the special if they have one! 4: bring cash!
Great sandwiches with quality ingredients. Good portion size. 100% going again and again and again.
To call this a sandwich spot is doing it a disservice, this is a meal on bread. An incredible selection with the freshest cuts and toppings there are. The bread is the right balance of crunch and softness, the prosciutto is perfectly fatty and prime, even the sun-dried tomatoes tasted fresh. I've had the Parma and the Pisillo so far, both highly recommended.
I enjoyed the sandwiches I’ve gotten from here, I will note they’re a little on the oily side. If you’re in the area make sure to stop by for a great sandwich.
I ordered for a client as a Thank You for working with us - and this knocked their socks off. Ordered a dozen Panino and was enough to feed over 20 staff and have some extra to take home.
So my sandwich was supposed to come with sun dried tomatoes and they forgot to put it in but I must say the quality of the sandwich was really flipping good and it still tasted good. 👍🏼 I will def be back to try it again
Holy cow the sandwiches in this place are incredible. First off, it's the size of my forearm. I don't know how anyone could eat one sandwich alone, for me it took three tries. High quality ingredients across the board. Just be prepared when you enter, it's very busy and the folks there need to get people through fast.
So glad we found this spot! The $1 extra for the bread was worth it. Plenty of meat and fresh ingredients. I recommend sharing with people because the portions are huge and you can try different ones! Not pictured on this sandwhich because I was already eating it, BUT GET THE ROASTED PEPPERS.
'Are you hungry?', I asked her. She replied, 'Yea, what do you feel like? An Italian sandwich?' I paused for a second and said, 'Sure. You mean like Pane ****** in Bay Ridge?!' 'No, I thought you didn't want to go that far. Like Pisillo, in lower Manhattan.' 'Never heard of it.' Well, I was in for surprise! The sandwich here at Pisillo took me back to Italy. It was the taste in each bite made from the best and freshest ingredients. The focaccia was the perfect consistency and sandwich was made to perfection. Our host even came by with some olive paste to try on the sandwich. It too, was yummy. The host takes great pleasure in the food they prepare and serve and the entire experience was well worth it. The location is small so be prepared to take your sandwich to go and their cafe next door has good coffee and pastry options. Contact tracing was in effect as well at this location.
Fresh, massive, and delicious sandwiches—Pisillo is a fantastic addition to the neighborhood. The shop is spotless, the Italian music sets the vibe, and the staff are warm and efficient. I accidentally ordered to the wrong location, and they immediately made both sandwiches again on the spot—no questions asked. Great service. I’ll definitely be back.
Love the place...I discovered this little corner of pure italian food, in 2016 and as soon as O could come back to NY, I didn't waste time and had my big italian sandwich...if ypu are around Ground Zero, visiting the area of One Wprld Trade Centre, I strongly suggest to give a bite to the fantqstic sandwitches they make. You won't be disappointed, believe me. The place is small inside, so better grab the sandwich and eat it in the Ground Zero park, but if there is space left, ypu can also eat inside. Enjoy...
Please do yourself a favor and go to this place. The sandwiches are so tasty you can easily leave there with +1000 calories in your belly lol. The people who work there are the nicest, kindest, most beautiful people. Too bad they are not Juventus fans but nobody’s perfect I guess :P We had cannolis too (pictured) and they were delicious. We were too hungry to take pics of the sandwiches. Forza Juve, Forza Pisillo 🖤🤍
The portions are more than enough to feed two people, the quality of the food is always above and beyond and delivery is very prompt. The only “complaint” is that there are too many delicious options to choose from! I want to try so many different sandwiches, but always go back to the delicious chicken with fresh mozzarella, arugula and roasted peppers.
I have a high bar for any sandwich shop. This place is an easy 5/5. Multiple selections for bread and both the ciabatta and regular hero were perfectly crunchy on the outside and chewy soft in the middle. The prosciutto, sopressata , etc were all sliced goldlilocks not too thick not too thin (for a sandwich). The mootz was fresh. I got the #8 The Palermo if you like a little kick 🌶️ this one’s for you. My wife got the #17 Trieste added salami and loved it. Most importantly, the sandwiches were big. Not Sal Kris Charlie big but just right for someone with a solid appetite to be satisfied, all for $16 a pop. Easy 5/5, easily coming back here esp since I work in the area.
Italian Sandwiches That will feed you for days! My sandwich was 3 days of meals and I love to eat, it was just too huge! Go for a sandwich and know you will be able to eat leftovers! So I will start with this, if you are a vegetarian, you an eat here and Pisillo DOES NOT SKIMP on anything unlike other places with veggie hoagies and cheese. Now, as an Italian Chica, this was my jam. Stacked and large. Fresh ingredients and just plain good. The only real negative is that there are really only 4 tables in there, which if they were busy, would not be a good thing, but we were there after lunch rush so we got seats! The owner is wonderful and helpful. Bread is as fresh as could be with a good exterior crunch and then the ingredients inside the bread take care of the rest! The Ancona is as good on Day 1 as it is on Day3! There are 35+ sandwich options or you can make your own. It's CASH ONLY but there is also an ATM right inside. 4 sandwiches + 4 cans of soda were about $75 - Everyone was so stuffed and NONE of us, even the biggest foodie in our group could finish their sandwich! So rather than fried garbage or a mini sandwich that will cost you the same, this FIDI (Nassau St) sandwich shop is the winner! Get it to-go and enjoy!
The panino @Pisillo was super! Had the Roma, and it was absolutely delicious, stuffed with truly fresh ingredients and made with care! Would highly recommend it, great value for money too- speaking of which they accept cash only so be prepared (they do have a small ATM machine inside but you know charges at those ones). Will definitely return :)
Nice little spot. Excellent, quick service. Only cash payments accepted but there is an option to either withdraw via ATM or order for pickup with a QR code provided. Overall good experience. P.S. portions are HUGE! Be ready to eat good!
I ordered my sandwich on the J going over the bridge, and it was ready by the time I got to Fulton Street! Recommend ordering ahead if you don’t have cash. The sandwiches are huge and definitely splittable. I got a mozzarella and hot pepper sandwich on the sesame bread—incredible bread and great flavors on the sandwich.
Freshly sliced meats on HUGE sandwiches. Semolina bread was chewy and delicious. The hot peppers have kick so switch to sweet peppers if you don’t handle heat. Cash only but you can order online to pay by card.
This place is a total gem. They make amazing sandwiches that have the perfect balance of ingredients. I'll have half for lunch and the other half for dinner.
Oh this is 100% worth the hype. I love that it looks like an assuming stop & very glad our friend recommended it. Not sure if the man himself usually works here but he was there when we went so maybe that's why it was that extra special but honestly, these sandwiches are AMAZING. We're from Europe, so the sizes were quite intimidating and split two sandwiches between 4: the special (a spicy wonder that I'm still dreaming of) on a sub & the house special on focaccia. The foccacia looks dense but tastes so soft and fresh! The meat is very well flavoured and the layers of veg, salad, & sauces is just perfection. This is everything I dreamed of in a New York sandwich / sub. It is 100% worth the time. Also, do ask if you'd like it cut into halves or quarters, and you can take it to eat for later (which still holds up, as I was the wuss of the group who couldn't finish mine).
Holy moly. The sandwich is massive enough to feed at least 2 people, maybe 4 if you're trying to avoid a siesta. And the quality of the meats, cheeses, and bread is a step above. And all this for about $12. This is a rare deal in the area and I would definitely come back. Once I walk it off first.
Honestly the photos cannot do these sandwiches justice and do not depict the sheer size of these things. As others have said, these are not snacks, but meals to be consumed over the course of a day or two. They are served wrapped in foil and precut into four pieces, and made with top quality ingredients. Just to top it all off the staff are super friendly too! Highly recommended if looking for a sandwich in Manhattan. Just make sure you go with an empty stomach!!
Best deli in NYC. Went for: takeout lunch during work. Food: Sandwiches - all are amazing. The high quality imported ingredients are insanely authentic. Flavors just as imagined as Italy. Sandwiches are big!! Don’t be ashamed to share. Add Ingredients as you wish, but don’t be sad if the staff tells you no. Can’t wait to try all 23.
Been trying to get down here ever since my buddy informed me that the sister spot in Chelsea made incredible sandwiches. Light work day for a Friday so I rounded up some coworkers to take a walk to the shop. It's Cash Only with an ATM in the establishment if you are short of cash. I believe the boss was working the slicer. I got the #1 The Milano on the white roll, under $20, weighed about 5lbs and it was absolutely delicious. I couldn't finish the whole sandwich, only able to eat half so I saved the rest for dinner. It was still delicious about 7 hours later.
Elite Manhattan Sub. $20 Sub there was enough for 3 of us to share on the run. One person would get to solid meals. Staff friendly. Product first rate
I love these sandwiches they are gigantic and filling and really hard to eat. The atmosphere inside is barely toeing the line between insufferable and lovable, leaning towards the latter, and that makes for a great experience. Note it is cash only but they have an ATM. I don't know what the fee is because I am smart enough to bring cash.
The best Italian PANNINI. we got the #26 Pisillo. TO DIE FOR. bread was very fresh. Only gripe is the hard wooden stools but very minor issue.
Anybody giving this place less than 5 stars is lying to you. This is a solid contender for one of the best sandwich spots in the city. First, it’s an old school cash only establishment and you definitely get that homey feel when you walk in. Pictures on the wall. Italian flag. Very good atmosphere. There are a lot of sandwich options. But the best part is if you order a sandwich, you’ll get one ready for you in less than 2 minutes. Let’s get into the food. You can tell the bread is great quality because of the flour residue left on it. I got the New Yorker which is a chicken breast sandwich with peppers mozzarella and dressing. Will not lie, that first bite packed so much flavor. Perfect blend of ingredients in a sandwich that can feed you for breakfast, lunch, and a midnight snack. It honestly is a wonderfully crafted sandwich and for $16, it feels like you’re underpaying. You absolutely won’t be disappointed eating here. One of the best spots in FiDi.
SUCH quick service and wow!!! The weight of the sandwich for the cost?! Could not believe it! Must’ve weighed at least 5 lbs for 2 sandwiches. We had 26 and 27 for two people and they cut it in thirds for us. We had 2/6 pieces leftover! The quality of the ingredients was five star. You can taste the love that is put into this restaurant! Will definitely be back. There’s no where else like it
5 STARS .🤸♀️🤸♀️This place was terrific the food was delectable and if I could give the atmosphere a six star rating oh boy I would. We were even given an umbrella for the rain. Shout out to the music that was bomb.com I could go on but the food speaks for itself. If yo haven’t already get yourself down here yo will not regret it 😊🤗
The little, very authentic Italian sandwich shop is not to be missed. (This one is their flagship.) The staff is super nice, always welcome you to the counter with a big smile. The sandwiches are delicious; if you have no allergies, close your eyes, point your finger to any of the sandwich choices and you won't be disappointed. We try not to visit too often but, at last, once a week isn't so bad, right? 😉
Killer Italian sandwich. Great bread options made fresh everyday. The semolina was amazing. Seeded on both sides. About 30-40 menu choices quality ingredients, fast service. The sandwich is literally huge. 20$ but would feed two grown men easy. Great spot for an area that’s not too food friendly. Can’t recommend enough.
I stumbled upon this Italian sandwich shop in New York, and it was an absolute gem. Everything was simply perfect – from the fresh, high-quality ingredients to the authentic flavors that transported me straight to Italy. The bread was warm and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and the fillings were generous and delicious. The staff was friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. The place has a cozy atmosphere, perfect for a quick bite or a relaxed meal. If you’re in New York and craving a true taste of Italy, this is a must-visit. Highly recommended!
We were looking for a place to have a quick lunch near the 9/11 Museum and what a great find. The sandwiches are unique, tasty and huuuuge. We shared a Parm sandwich and it filled us both up. Service was friendly and quick. Atmosphere and personable and fun. It made us feel like we were in Italy. Definitely worth stopping by when in Manhattan.
amazing service, amazing manager, amazing food. I normally do NOT like subs, and this one was just phenomenal. manager took time to help me figure out what I would like :) so filling, will last you for days, and fresh ingredients - incredible value, especially considering the price. excited to be back soon!!
We ordered this after a brief skim for a delivery option in financial district that would be unique to New York. Incredible sandwiches. They are massive and dense and are giving us more meals than we expected. Delicious, prepared fast but well, absolutely fantastic quality bread and meats, and their sauces, spreads, and oils are quality and taste amazing. Nice piles of arugula too! This is a gem of a spot give them a shot.
Pisillo offers the freshest and best sandwiches in the city. The breads and toppings are fresh, so you don't need any condiments. Their dressings are perfect. I highly recommend it. you also can’t beat the price for what you get. They’re huge sandwiches.
I can say as a Brooklynite, without exaggeration, that this is currently my favorite place to eat food from in NYC. I used to work in this neighborhood, and now that I don't, I still think about these sandwiches at least once a week. I'm not going to claim you'll leave feeling as strongly as I do, but I do believe that if you like Italian sandwiches, you'll be highly satisfied by this place. You can't really go wrong with whatever option you go for. My favorite is the Ariccia, but I've tried six or seven of these sandwiches and loved all of them. You're safe to go for whatever you think sounds tastiest to you on the menu. These sandwiches are also big. As someone whose stomach has been called a bottomless pit, eating a full sandwich at a time is doable, but I highly recommend splitting it between two meals or sharing it with someone. All in all, I cannot recommend this place highly enough!
My wife and I definitely enjoyed our lunch here. The sandwich was huge (we ordered the Parma), and it was made extremely fast. All three employees thanked us while we were there, and even though the shop is tiny, there were enough places to sit for every who came in. It is cash only in store - but you can use a card if you order online. I finished my half of the sandwich there, and my wife ate part of hers there, and part of it later. The flavor was there, and the smoked mozzarella with the sun-dried tomatoes were a great pairing. The only complain I would have is that there was less meat than I thought there would be on the sandwich. Maybe because if was prosciutto, and not something like salami or ham? But it was still a very tasty, affordable ($18 for lunch for both of us) and fulfilling sandwich. I would absolutely eat here again.
Don’t let the little exterior fool you, this place has the BIGGEST and yummiest sandwiches ever. Don’t question it, just go. There can be a long line sometimes. Recommend to order ahead online! This is 26. Pisillo ($17.90) - prosciutto di parma, porchetta, bufala mozzarella, roasted peppers, arugula, balsamic dressing - on Ciabatta, but they said to get Sfilatino. I ate it for 4 meals so worth the money🤗❤️
Quality was amazing! Massive sandwich for a good price. I got the Italian on multigrain and asked to add hots. FYI their Italian doesn’t have multiple meats like you get at other places like jersey mikes. The guy working made sure to give me a heads up which I appreciated! Got sandwich to go. Casual seating inside if you want to eat there. Cash only!
So one of my coworkers mentioned to me that this is his favorite sandwich in the city. Hearing that I had to give it a try and let me tell you…it did not disappoint. It’s an old school, small little shop that still is cash only. There’s about 40 different types of sandwiches and each one is made fresh right in front of you. I ordered the 17 which included prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella, arugula and a balsamic dressing. It was loaded with meat and cheese and the dressing was delicious. For about $16 you get like a 15-16in sandwich. Enough for leftovers the next day. I cannot wait to go back and give a few of the other sandwiches a try!

Cash only. Solid $20 sandwich that will last you at least 2 meals. Got the flagship #26 Pisillo for lunch. Had a lot of great flavor variety and really lets the prosciutto stand out. I was recommended Ciabatta bread. IMHO, a good amount of filling. Bread is a little too hard. Warming of the sandwich would probably help it. It is extremely large and I had the second half for dinner. I'd still give the edge to DISO's for softer bread, more variety, warm sandwiches, slightly better pricing. However you can't go wrong if you have cash and are nearby.
Great sandwiches!! But when you order online it automatically includes tip and when I tried to change it, it still processed the order with the tip still. Kinda annoying
We had a great time with the sandwich & service! Ordered the Pisillo - slightly messy but not at all hard to eat. The sauces dropped everywhere so definitely get extra napkins. Amazing bread and fillings. If the sauces could get soaked by the bread as we consume, that would be exceptional! PS: cash only! Be ready! ** amazing staff! Exceptional hospitality!
Finally decided to check this Italian panini shop. Didn’t realize it was cash only until I got there. There is an ATM machine inside the shop. There’s tables to sit and eat if you’re not doing takeout. It wasn’t as busy on a Saturday afternoon compared to on weekdays. I got #26, one of the top two best sellers here (the other being #5). I chose the sfilatino bread which I kind of regretted and should’ve gotten a bread that was a bit softer. The panini is humongous. Def able to share with another person. The panini was good but not great. Enjoyed the buffalo mozzarella though.

Ordered #2 on ciabatta. Ingredients were fresh and the sandwich itself is huge. The bread was my favorite part. It was fresh crusty on the outside and soft inside. Mozz was good but not the best I’ve had. Arugula was fresh and prosciutto wasn’t too salty. I wouldn’t buy this sandwich again. Personally I feel like they should dress the sandwiches with more toppings. It was kind of bland overall if I weren’t for the bread itself. Service is fast and cash only.
