We stopped by this little cafe when passing through Benbrook. The cafe was pretty busy, but service was fast and friendly. We ordered two slices of pie, coffee, and a basket of fries. The pies were excellent, the coffee was fresh, but the fries were slightly soggy and a bit greasy. No big deal, it happens sometimes. This is a small town cafe, not a Michelin Star restaurant, so they get a pass. Looking around at what everyone else was eating makes me want to come back and try some other items.
Great little diner that's been open for probably 100 years. Low staff turnover and tons of regulars=signs of a great restaurant. Fast, friendly service and very reasonable prices. Pancakes were next level. Show them some love, y'all!
Our fist time there. Awesom food, staff, and you would never have thought it would by seeing the building. A wonderful hole in the wall!! I'm telling you it will not dissapoint!!
food was affordable and good. waitress was nice. me and my girlfriend went here for the first time and we will be back.
We've been on the hunt for the best diner in Fort Worth. This might be it! Carmen was our server and she was absolutely incredible. She made the whole experience top notch, despite the kitchen being understaffed. My wife's chicken fried steak was SUPER crispy, everything was clearly made from scratch. My breakfast burrito was stuffed to the brim. Highly highly highly reccomended!
We ate there for the first time this past Sunday morning. (10/26). Food and service were both top notch. Our server was absolutely great and attentive to us and everyone around us. We will definitely be back.
This is one of my FAVORITE cafes in FW!!!! It’s the coziest little place, and they always have it decorated for the season. It reminds me of home, has the best southern style foods, and the nicest people! I always get the southern breakfast which is divine, and this most recent trip I tried their cinnamon rolls. They were HUGE! So yummy too! I’ve been over 5 times now, and am already ready to go back!
Our first trip here. It didn't disappoint. Chicken Fried Steak, mashed potatoes, salad, and garlic bread. $11.99. Meat Loaf, corn, beans, and corn bread. $11.48. Very please with food and service. Big shout out to Desiree. Thank you
We left West Side Cafe without eating after horrible service and stumbled upon this little gem down the street. There was zero wait and the food was amazing. We both got the Southern bf and it was delicious and filling. I would recommend the home fries. So yummy! Very reasonably priced and our waitress Roberta was so sweet and attentive.
This is a great little hometown Cafe where they seek to know your name and learn it quickly. When I go there, I'm always greeted warmly and seated quickly. My order is taken and the food arrives quickly and is always perfect! The place is decorated with reclaimed wood for the tables, and decorating the sides of the cabinets and on the walls. It's impeccably clean and smells amazing! They take suggestions well and act on them quickly, too! A few weeks ago, I suggested longer straws for the taller glasses so the straws don't fall below the surface of the customer's drinks, they listened. The next time I went in they had longer straws! The Benbrook Cafe has everything I could ever ask for in a cafe... the burgers are awesome, as are the chicken-fried chicken and steaks. The meatloaf is like my Mother's and takes me back in time. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner and are happy to accommodate you if you want breakfast for dinner, or lunch or dinner for breakfast - all with a smile! If you like traditional breakfasts, this is definitely for you! This is my weekend Go-To place, whether it's just me, me plus-one, or with a larger group of friends. They can accommodate nearly every size group I've ever brought in and are very quick to assemble tables that meet your group's needs! My eggs are always perfect and the omelets are second to NONE! My request for gravy on TOP of my chicken fried chicken is respected, and even I have days that I just "want what I want", they do their best to accommodate... also with a smile 😃! For desserts, they offer a rotating selection of decadent treats that rival any 5-star hotel I've ever stayed in! The desserts look amazing and taste like Heaven - right here on Earth!!! I place my orders early for holidays and my guests always rave about the deserts... So, if you want food that makes you happy at an affordable price, with people who genuinely appreciate your business and treat you well, and a place that's easy to get to and makes you WANT to return - then the Benbrook Cafe is your place! Come early, bring your friends, and return often!
What a great, little cafe. Lots of menu choices, friendly employees, clean facilities and tasty food. We had some hand made onion rings which were served piping hot and were yummy. I had the chef salad, which was quite large, fresh and delicious. I also enjoyed the rolls. The ladies room was also clean.
While certainly a ‘greasy spoon’, it has a certain nostalgic charm. The staff are friendly and welcoming. (Though, I’ve been there over five times and occasionally had slower service.) The food portions are generous and dishes are tasty with some stand-outs like the gravy and chicken fried chicken. The environment is what you’d expect from a diner; you came to eat not look around.
Breakfast there is great!! Love the food. Had the opportunity to go for dinner, I ordered steak, good flavor but chewy.. my veggies were great, salad i really liked. Maybe the cut of meat, the company they bought it from...idk but ilk stock to breakfast.
It's a little hole in the wall but it's delicious! The veggie omelet was the best I have ever had!! The veggies were so fresh and there was so much! And the hashbrowns were perfect! The biscuits are very soft but not my favorite. No real butter here so margarine is the only choice. I suggest you bring your own butter so you can put it on their fantastic Belgium waffles!!!!! Soooooo good. Gotta have 'em! The gravy was really good too. I will be going back to try their lunch !
I must say that this place was better than I was expecting. When I drove past this restaurant the first time, there was only one vehicle in front, which increased my curiosity. I went later for dinner. I had the catfish and hushpuppies entree. Although the flavor was bland, I was able to add my own seasoning and ketchup to improve the flavor. They also weren't selfish with the amount of food for the price! I may return to try something else next.
Staff is attentive and very nice. Cleanliness (the most important part of a public establishment) and functionality is unacceptable. If the state of the restrooms reflect the restaurant then this is a hazard. Disgustingly dirty and broken things everywhere. I ate my food with the idea the kitchen was as dirty as the rest of the establishment, while looking at a curtain immediately next to me that looks like it hasn't been washed in years, not comfortable. The only good sign was the constant conversation between staff and regulars.
Benbrook cafe After passing Benbrook Cafe numerous times and seeing the parking lot always full, we decided to stop in for breakfast. The location, next door to a gas station, is a hole in the wall and part of an older strip mall set up. It’s definitely nothing fancy. We were allowed to seat ourselves and our waitress did a wonderful job of keeping our coffee hot and full. I ordered the Two Egg breakfast which included grits and wheat toast. I also added an order of shredded hash browns, because it’s not breakfast if there’s no potatoes! My husband ordered the Bacon or Sausage breakfast with Sausage and added an order of hash browns to his order as well. The food arrived hot, but both of our eggs were undercooked to our specifications and the wheat toast wasn’t very palatable - even with the addition of whipped butter. The grits were delicious, but the hash browns weren’t crispy even though the outside was browned. Pros: They offer senior citizens discounts, breakfast discounts from 6:00 - 11:00 am and daily specials. The service was wonderful and they offer pies in a cooler by the register if you’re looking for dessert. Cons: The food just didn’t measure up. Breakfast staples like eggs and hash browns were undercooked. The inside decor was tired, the floors were messy and the supplies were disorganized. The ceiling tiles were discolored and drooping from the ceiling. We felt like there was a lot of room for improvement as far as sanitation, cleanliness and organization. Sadly, we have no plans to return and it’s not a restaurant that we’d recommend.
We came in to check the place out bc we heard it was good. What a rip off food had no flavor and I got the special cowboy chicken and the meat was so small they had to cut the chicken breast with the meat cutter they use at the deli counter I’ve never felt so ripped off in my life. There was no flavor in the okra none nada. The pic is the thickest part of the chicken! There is more beacon and cheese than meat. The only thing that was good were the fries.
