Hangari Kalguksu is probably one of my favorite Korean restaurants of all time now. The staff is friendly and the food is absolutely outstanding. The handmade noodle soups are delicious - whether you get the clam or the chicken one. The Clam Kalgukgu is packed with little clams, zucchini, kabocha, and potato in a light anchovy broth. The Chicken Kalguksu just feels healthy with half of a chicken, zucchini, kabocha, potato, dried dates, and onions in a chicken and anchovy broth. If you are not feeling a soup, then the beef bulgogi is the way to go. A massive bowl of deliciously seasoned and tender bulgogi served next to rice and a refreshing salad. Last but definitely not the least...Hangari's Famous Bossam with belly and jowl was actually the star of the show. You get a big platter of boiled tender pork belly and buttery pork jowl. It is served with crunchy cabbage leaves, sweet and spicy radish kimchi, and side dishes. One hundred percent, you cannot come here and not get this. It is spectacular and I wish I could find a spot just as good near me. Now for my standard comments. The location is clean and well kept. Comfortable indoor seating.
Generous portion! 1 medium bossam & jowl and 1 serving of cold noodles could easily feed 3 people. We were here for the bossam but fell in love with the jowl instead. You can't go wrong with anything you order here
I must have been to this place like 5x and each time, always had great service and delicious food. This is korean comfort food!! If you want old school authentic Korean soup without the spice, this is it!! Usually this place is packed, but today, maybe because we got there earlier, there were plenty of seats. I took my dad after our medical appointments nearby and he enjoyed it very much!! I ordered the clam kalguksu (clam w/ knifecut noodles soup) this was hearty and delicious. It had potatoes, komb1ocha squash slice and zucchin slice with some onion slices. We loved the flavor and that was my go to here. This time, I also ordered their mandoo (dumpling) soup (it was beef and delicious, as well) also to share. Two items were enough to share for two people. And they serve it with 3 types of kimchi. My dad liked all their kimchi sides and they give extra if you like. All my favorites. They serve it with barley rice bowl with a spoon of bean paste. Everything was tasty and point on in flavor and temperature!! Highly recommended!! They make it right at this restaurant!! 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
In the place where I live, there is a large Korean community and plenty of Korean restaurants, so I thought I was already very familiar with Korean food. However, what I tried here completely exceeded my expectations. It was the best Korean food I have ever had. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the portions were very generous that I couldn’t finish it all in one sitting and had to divide it into smaller portions. On top of what I ordered, I also received several complimentary side dishes, which were equally amazing. I truly recommend to eat here.
First time here, and it's now a favorite soup. It was also so good that we got a small one, and it was enough for two people. We also got the pork belly, it's a little pricey, but overall it tasted really good, nicely seasoned, and it's so tender. Parking here is Vallet bringing cash it's cheaper.
The food was delicious, and honestly the portions were so generous that we even had some to take home. Despite how busy it was, the staff worked quickly and efficiently, and everyone helped us with a smile. We tried several dishes and everything was tasty, so we’re looking forward to trying more next time. Parking was $5, and yes, it was quite crowded, but the experience was still great! The complimentary rice with young radish bibimbap was really delicious. It may seem simple, but it made us feel really happy.
It was my first time visiting this place, and I was really impressed — it’s clean and has a nice atmosphere. I had to wait a while before ordering because I was waiting for someone, but the staff were patient and didn’t rush me. When I finally ordered, the food came out generous and delicious. The bossam was super tender with no unpleasant smell, and the hot stone bibimbap was perfectly sizzling — so good! The clam noodle soup had a rich, flavorful broth, and the noodles tasted fresh and chewy, like they were handmade. And the young radish bibimbap that came with it was honestly amazing. I’m definitely coming back!
Maybe we are weaklings but we only got through a little more than half of the large chicken kalguksu as a party of 4. We would’ve been more than full with just 2 of the regularly sized bowls. But it was so, so flavorful and the chicken portion was very large. This would be so comforting in the winter! No wait on a Friday around noon. Parking is $5 valet in the lot.
I visited this place specifically for their handmade noodles, and they truly delivered. The noodles were delicious, rich, and full of flavor. I ordered them with clams, which added a fresh and naturally sweet touch. I also tried the pork and jowl combo in size M, and it was phenomenal. The dish was satisfying without feeling overly heavy, and the flavors melted beautifully in my mouth.
The portions are very generous—the large jar kalguksu could easily feed five people. The boiled pork was also delicious, and the overall taste of the food was just as good as I expected. The interior is clean and comfortable. The only downside is that it’s quite busy, so it’s hard to get the staff’s attention. Even when you want to ask for a side dish refill, everyone is so busy that it’s hard to catch the right moment.
A bowl of soup and noodles from Hangari is truly out of this world. No visit to LA should be complete without a stop here. This is my first time reviewing this restaurant but I’ve come here almost on every visit down to LA because it’s that good. My go to order is always the chicken kalguksu. The noodles are so fresh and chewy, the veggies pair just perfectly with the overall dish, and the broth is to die for. The portions are also huge so you can definitely order a few things and share family style. Inside the place is usually busy but it’s clean and staff are super friendly and helpful. Parking outside is a bit hectic but you might get lucky with a garage nearby. Don’t let that scare you though, it’s still worth the drive over. Can’t wait for my next visit!
This place was busy and had a long line when we came, but they had a very efficient system of having everyone order before they sat down. We didn’t have to wait long, and our food was served to us very quickly. We both had the hot stone bibimbap (mixed rice bowls with variety of vegetables and meat) and overall it was very delicious.
The Kalguksu was very good, large portions and good flavor, the sleeper was the Tokbokgi rice cake! We polished that off so quick! 😁😁 Service is a little hit or miss but it's all very homey and fresh. Definitely worth checking out.
Absolutely delicious! We ordered the XL bossam and it was extra delicious, I prefer the jowel over the belly but both good. Army stew can feed way more than two! The clam soup was very flavorful. And even though the place was packed the service was very fast, attentive, and friendly. Don't forget to order the bibimbap!
Went to Hungari and really enjoyed it! Beef Bulgogi (4/5) – Tender beef with a nice touch of sliced onions and bell peppers. The salad on the side had a good mix and savory dressing. Chicken Kalguksu (4/5) – Loved the hand-pulled noodles and tender chicken. Broth wasn’t too heavy, which was perfect. Service was super fast—we waited less than five minutes for a table, and the staff checked on us multiple times throughout the meal. Ambiance: The restaurant was packed and there was a line outside, but parking wasn’t too stressful thanks to $5 valet for two hours. Would definitely go again!
This was our first time at this Korean restaurant. The food was delicious, and the servers were attentive. We got the Army Stew and the Belly'n Jowl, and it was so good. The only thing I didn't like and why I took a star is they don't offer bottle water for purchase. California has horrible water even when filtered. FYI, the portions are really big.
A nice place in KTown for soup and noodles. My friend recommend this for the noodles. I think the noodle soup is a bit too thick but still delicious. The portion is quite large, although the price is quite high. The bibimbap is good, I prefer it than the noodles. The servers looked quite busy and not really happy. Parking is valet $4 or $5 I think.
Newly opened Korean restaurant, long line. The regular bossam, bibimap etc, however their jook ( congee) was very unique. Same mall used to have a restaurant that served abalone jook , but hangary’s were very different , very thick and creamy yet flavor is strong. Highly recommended. But the star of the night is the mandatory valet parking at the mall. Price went from $2 to $5 , that’s not the problem . Problem is the valet, with very limited English, shouting and screaming and cars/drivers , ordering ppl around as if they were the boss. Asked me where am I going , I told him I couldn’t decide on going to the seafood restaurant that I go often or try the hangary place cuz it seems to be new and with lots of ppl. He told me to take my car and go, exit is over there. I tried to call their ‘Majestic parking’ to file an official complaint, this guy even stood in front of me and tried to be funny. I wouldn’t move my car and they finally parked it for me. Coming out of the restaurant, they asked me where I went as I expected . I did get a paper receipt but I didn’t show them. It’s then I saw a small concealed sign with surcharge $10 if not dined at the mall. Finally the owner came out and apologized, understanding that’s not the way to treat customer and promised will pass the message to those valet. Be prepared to be screamed at if going into that mall, and don’t forget to get a paper receipt to avoid surcharge. Food there was good but probably won’t be going back there anytime soon. Businesses should hire a different parking service.
I recently took some friends with me for dinner. Thankfully there was no line. We walked in, as there were a few empty tables, but we were ushered outside to "wait in line." We had to wait until there were 10+ people behind us to be let in and sat down. We felt exploited like a pawn in their game of artificially inflating demand. I didn't mind the bibimbap and the sides though. My friends found the Tteok-bokki to be too sweet, which I agreed with but didn't mind much either. Overall, the food was not bad but nothing to write home about either. To the credit of the food, the ingredients seemed fresh and the portion sizes were appropriate for the price. Towards the end of the meal, as I was still eating, a staff member cleared out the whole table, including my water! We looked up their hours, it was far from their closing time. There were other patrons still enjoying their meals with multiple empty tables. Given the rush, I am glad the staff didn't take my food! I had to ask for water again, the cup I was provided had a piece of chili inside. Sadly, I was disheartened by the very disappointing service.
