Great service and great food!
Cafe Marizon has become our "Ace in the Hole". At the end of the day and everyone is tired and hungry, Cafe Marizon comes through for us. The food is always delicious, fast and served by a friendly staff.
Great food, the staff was very friendly. Loads of Amarillo memorabilia all over. Well worth the drive.

This is always an awesome place to have lunch! Quiet atmosphere even when it is crowded. Food is amazing.
Favorite family restaurant with the best customer service! They serve simple delicious dishes by honest caring staff.
Love this place and the homey feel it has, the turkey and swiss sandwich is my favorite and the peanutbutter, chocolate pie is the best.
Adore this place. Everyone was sweet, and the food was absolutely delicious! Would highly recommend this to family and friends!
This is an amazing hometown find! The staff are friendly and the food is awesome! Definitely a place to go and take out of towners!
We have been several times the warm sandwiches are my favorite. they also have amazing salads too.
My favorite lunch spot to visit with friends. Great food, great atmosphere, and great service. Awesome open seating area.
Want food that is like old-time home-cooked? Cafe Marizon has it. Very tasty and satisfying. Good choice of meals.
Food and service was awesome!
The food at Marizons is excellent. Service is great. If you enjoy GOOD homecooked food from recipes from the family, this is the place you want to eat. Homemade bread is wonderful and outstanding varieties of food to fill you up!! You'll never go wrong by eating at Cafe Marizons. Been eating there for many years!!💖💖
Marizon's is an Amarillo icon. It's the embodiment of everything small town America is. The food is classic and homemade and the bread is legendary. Every single staff member wants to be there and it shows. Try the cheese curds they are amazing. The specials are always nice but my favorite is the roast (served any way you choose from a quesadilla to an open faced sandwich) and if you can catch the beef and rice soup on special it's amazing. And finish your meal with their BTS cake, chess pie, or peanut butter pie (trust me they are all delicious) The owner is almost always there working alongside his crew, which says so much about his dedication. Marizon's is worth the drive from the highway (I-27 or I-40). You will never leave hungry.
One of the few places where you can get fresh ham salad or egg salad sandwiches, and old fashioned open face hot beef sandwiches. Sweet potato fries are one of my favorites here, I always like them with honey mustard.
Great food and great service! Best French Dip sandwich anywhere! The bread is awesome! The owner Scott is always helping and so friendly. Live this place!
Traditional American fare. Outstanding service. I had the chili. It was very good (no heat but still tasty). My wife and I really enjoyed it.
We went after the lunch rush and where seated instantly, waited a short time for food, I had the Texas Philly, and the B.T.S. cake, I highly recommend both, the server was very nice as well, would highly recommend eating here.
Good food. Good service, reasonable prices. Soup, salad, and sanwichs Some hot plates like chicken fried steak which was fresh cooked and excellent. Bake their own bread
Loved the food! They know how to make a genuine Patty Melt! Pies are to die for! Friendly staff and atmosphere. Cozy, clean place.
The food was good, the menu was a little confusing. The dessert was very good!
We are regulars. 3-4 times a week. Lunch, dinner or even a quick appetizer. Food is home southern style cooking. I would reccomend to start with the Fried Green Beans or cheese fries. You can't go wrong with the tuna salad or burger. My favorite is the chicken swiss bacon ranch! Loaded with flavor. The staff is professional and attentive. Don't forget rhe bread and desserts are made fresh daily. Cocunut cream pie oe the BTS cake are big winners.
Went there for the first time this evening, the quality of the food was impeccable, just like home cooking back at Grandma's house. 5 stars ++, Staff was very friendly.
Great place to eat service, food everyone are great.
This is just an amazing cafe. It is a hidden Lia l favorite. There is no zip or pizzazz, it is just good food & great service.
Love the atmosphere, it is always upbeat and the workers are so friendly. There is a variety of foods but my favorite is definitely the BTS Cake!
Perfect meal, great price matched great service
I love their Bacon Grilled Chicken on Sourdough. The bread on this is so delicious. They have tasty house salad.
Probably one of the best patty melts I have ever eaten! My fiance had the French dip and it looked amazing as well. The coconut cream pie was delicious. Will definitely be returning
Lovely restaurant. I frequent this place because the menu is full of unique things I want to try. They have great lunch specials as well. Their dessert list is amazing. The staff is so friendly and welcoming!
I will always love going here. Owner and staff are amazing and make you feel like family each and every time! Food is amazing, quick service, and just a wonderful place to go!
I love this place so much so I would recommend eating here if you don't know where to go to eat! 😃 Homemade bread incredible!
Food was great. Homestyle cooking with scratch bread and pies. I had the best French Dip I’ve ever had. Coconut creame pie was amazing too. I was honestly shockingly surprised how good it was.
Awesome food & service. Ranch dressing is some of the best, and is made fresh daily. Fried green beans are very favorable. Definitely need to try their sampler platter, consisting of tuna salad, ham salad, tuna salad & chicken salad. Their bread is also made fresh daily & is pretty incredible.
I have only eaten take out from here about 3 times I think. The takeout is very good. It is packaged nicely and bagged up well and secure. It was pretty tasty. I would recommend you try it out!!
Food and service is amazing!! Can't wait till we come back to town so we can eat here again!!
I've been coming to this place for years. When they were downtown, and when they moved. The food has always tasted the same. There is no greater compliment than that! Consistency throughout the years, is something special.
My granddaughter suggested this for lunch , it was great! We loved the atmosphere you can also dine on the patio service was excellent and food was very good loved the older music was mix of 70s and 80s anyway had a nice relaxed lunch and enjoyed hanging out with my wife and granddaughter everyone working there was very pleasant deserts looked yummy but had no room left, casual attire shorts , jeans etc.
Invited my friend who had not been there before. She had the hamburger steak and was very impressed. I had my usual French dip. Best French dip in town! We lingered and visited with no pressure to leave. We enjoyed looking at the old Amarillo pictures around the Cafe and down the hallway. I love the boxes from the old downtown stores I was dragged to as a child. I grew to love those stores! Yes we will be back!
We had a great dinner here. We both had Chicken fried steak, and had fried green beans for an appetizer. Really good. I was disappointed they were out of coconut pie, but got chess pie instead. It was really good, just not coconut..🙂 Heaven was our waitress, and was wonderful.
Fresh cooked blue plates, roast beef, potatoes, and brown gravy the best. Great location and wonderful service. If they only had fresh cut fries they'd get 5 star food rating.
Food was great! Service was wonderful and so was owner. Very friendly!
Family of four for lunch enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, and our chicken fried chicken was crisp and tender, brown and cream gravy very tasty, mashed potatoes homemade, tossed salad was fresh and not iceberg lettuce but real greens and hand chopped carrots and trimmings. Try the balsamic vinegar dressing, superb. Blu cheese homemade too. Roast beef pot roast very tasty and not over-salted. Topped off with slices of buttermilk chess, coconut cream and their special BTS pies were delicious! Most noticeable bonus is nothing was over-salted, too many restaurants cover up their veggies and meats with too much salt. We'll be back!
Always great food and homemade bread with everything! Very consistent flavor with everything they serve.
All of our meals and desserts were excellent but the pork chops were THE BEST we've ever had!
We really enjoyed dining here. Service was really good (Heaven). The sampler was a good choice. Of all the options, the ham salad and egg salad were our favorites. But the pot roast was a close second.
The owner and staff are wonderful people. Always on top of things and making sure the customers are taken care of. The food is more like home cooked meals then most restaurants. My favorite are the pork chops!
Good food, great portions , Friendly & Efficient staff! The Chili & Home made Bread is my favorite!
Me and a friend ate here on Thursday afternoon in February 2022, about 4:30 PM. We got here early before the supper crowd had arrived. A sign said, "sit at any clean table", so we did. A very nice girl server came over immediately with menus, napkins, & flatware, to take our drinks order. We both had iced tea, which she brought back quickly, and then took our meal order. I had chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and a garden salad. My friend had chicken fried steak and the same sides, both orders with white gravy. Our server asked if we wanted our salads before or during our meal, and what salad dressings did we want. We both took our salad before the main course, both with Ranch dressing. Our girl came back a few minutes later with the salads in medium sized bowls, and she brought a very clean and full squeeze bottle of Ranch dressing. The salads looked very fresh and were chopped up like I like. It's great to be able to put salad dressing on your own salad and as much as you want. Our meals came out about the time we were finishing our salads and were hot. My chicken was cooked perfectly, and the mash potatoes were fresh-made and covered with white gravy. There was also a big bowl of gravy to put on the chicken or dip in. My friend's chicken fried steak was huge, and he said it was fresh, tender, and delicious. Meanwhile the nice server checked on us every now and then for tea refills. The tea tasted great. Overall, this was a very pleasant experience, with good home-cooked tasting food, and great service!
An Amarillo classic! American comfort food at its best! Thank you Cafe Marizon for being the Amarillo staple you are!!
We went and I had the French dip my husband had the party melt. Both were fantastic. Service was excellent as well.
Delicious! Celebrated a friends birthday. Tried something new...fried green beans..yummy! 4 of us all loved the food. And guest of honor got a candle on her peach cobbler! I recommend the roast beef sandwich. Bring a hearty appetite, portions are generous.
Beloved gem of Amarillo! Scott, Robin, and Heaven make Cafe Marizon what it is! We love the establishment and the people! Food is fantastic! Good old fashioned comfort food!
This place is some of the best homestyle cafe cooking. Their chicken fried steak is really good. Their pot roast is to die for I almost get very Time. The burgers are made with this homemade bread they have. And their pies are ridiculous
Stopped in Amarillo for lunch. Y'all....this food was sooooo good! One of my favorite things is trying local restaurants when we travel. This place has been in business for 28 years. Laura was our waitress and was lovely. We enjoyed talking with Scott and he was kind and gave us an order form for pies and bread. Homemade yeast rolls that were beyond delicious. I had the chicken fried steak (no, I didn't finish it) and my husband had the breaded pork chops (he finished the pork chops but not the mashed potatoes). Also...those potatoes and gravy from scratch. Taters, precious!! Looking for excuses to drive this way again.
If you are tired of the same chain restaurant food, you must try this place! My wife and I came because of the exceptional salad ingredients, and believe me, I called around to at least three restaurants, and none of them had certain items in it like this place. I ordered the ham and cheese sandwich with the dinner salad on top of that an awesome blue cheese dressing. The chef salad is to die for served with a sliced baked roll. The service is just fantastic from the time you walk in until the time you walk out. The food has some fair prices, and to mention the deserts... buttermilk pie and peach cobbler are just the tip of some extremely great homemade deserts. The whole staff, friendly, professional, attentive, and downright, the best people we have had the pleasure to meet. If you like really good food at a decent price and not the regular chain restaurant, same ol' same ol' try this place. Tell them Roman Reigns sent you, just joking (inside joke). Happy eating, everyone.
We got the roast beef and hamburger steak. Everything is made fresh and the service is amazing!
Amazing food and service!! I also appreciated the music choice they had playing! Everything was enjoyable!
02/15/23- Still the best of the best for comfort food and atmosphere! Definitely a favorite! Excellent food, fun friendly atmosphere, caring staff, generous portions.. BTS cake is to die for! Highly recommend this restaurant! Wonderful!
Very good food. My daughter and I enjoyed it very much.

Very good food. My daughter and I enjoyed it very much.
Our waitress was great, and the food was delicious! We will be going back. Next time I'll try the dessert no matter how full I already am!
Love this place has real good food. And friendly employees very caring and checks on you off and on.
I had the spicy chicken sandwich here and it was absolutely amazing. I would also highly recommend the fried green beans and onion rings. Our waitress Heaven was very nice and was very attentive to us. I would definitely recommend this place to eat and will definitely be returning soon.
Hands down the best service! Nowadays you really don't get that. Today is my birthday! So I wanted to try something new. See me and my family don't get a chance to go out to eat much so it was a treat. I ordered the hamburger steak and man that was good and Hott! Thank you for the best day
I got the hamburger steak with mashed taters and carrots and my boyfriend got the chicken fried chicken with mashed taters and carrots. We got fried green beans and bread too. OH. MY. LORD. This was some of the BEST homemade comfort food I have ever had! We definitely found our new date night spot! Oh the buttermilk pie was to die for!
You can always count on the staff at Cafe Marizon to make sure you have the best dining experience! The people are so friendly, and the food is always hot and fresh! I have never had bad service, or bad food here. The pies are so delicious! Go for the food, stay for the pies y'all!
Please take time to stop here! This is home away from home food! All made with love. Best place off the highway. Staff is so friendly too. Best Ranch, Roast was AMAZING, Chicken fried chicken so good! Don’t go to the place people expect you to. Find these wonderful one of a kind places that are well worth it. Thank you!
I absolutely LOVE Cafe Marizon not only because of the food but the amazing & personable staff. They are the real reason my family & friends come here. I would give them 1 million stars if I could. This will forever be one of my favorite places to eat ❤️

Lunch was good. We will try again and order something different. It is hard to judge a restaurant by sandwiches.
Great fresh food and BREAD! You have to try their baked inhouse fresh bread either as a sandwich or alone. Good service too!.
Bread was good, but the French dip, although tasty, was shredded roast beef with so much juice, it dissolved the bottom bread, and they were out of all pies. I will go again and reevaluate.
Great food, excellent service. Just disappointed that the delicious bread was served with packaged margarine and not butter.
I brought my sister in with me today. The service was good... but the food was excellent . From the bacon ranch grilled chicken sandwich she had to my chicken bits salad it was great. But the real winner was the BTS chocolate cake which was amazingly moist and so very good.
Great food, extremely friendly staff, fast service. They didn't make you feel rushed. Perfect casual sandwich lunch spot for business or pleasure. Waitress, Robin, was attentive, sweet, and made you feel welcome immediately. Would recommend!
Cafe Marizon is a nice bistro with good food. The outside patio is great when the weather is pleasant. I love their egg salad; the ham salad and chicken salad are also good so I suspect the tuna salad is also good. They have nice sandwiches. The menu includes larger meals, but I haven't had them since the smaller sandwiches are plenty for me. The only thing I am not fond of food-wise is their salads. They have lots and lots of carrots and those overwhelm the rest of the salad. This pleasant place is a nice change from the steak and barbecue restaurants in Amarillo. Although it is off the beaten path for travellers, it is worth the travel off I-40.
This is an interesting local restaurant. I can tell they make their own food. You won't get a prepacked meal here. They even make their bread fresh. The decor is the history of Amarillo. I knew about some of the old department stores, but not all. If you are looking for a local restaurant that makes their own food instead of a chain that prepacked their food, this is your place.
Café Marizon, what a great find for us, first time here and the experience went beyond expectations, food is very tasty and portions are just right (not too big and definately not small), the dessert (coconut pie) is really good. Our waiter Laura is very attentive and gets you taken care of for sure. Building is very clean and well kept, please give this place a try.

I was taken here by my best friend's parents for my birthday, and we weren't there for long because it was close to closing time. However, the food was really good and their service was great! Would love to go there again given more time to eat, relax, and chill.
The servers were great. Very attentive. First time eating here. Had the soup and salad with bread. Love the atmosphere and the wonderfrlul lady that took our orders and served us. Will give it a try again.

It was better before. It was just ok. Looked like I should have tried the hamburger, or the philly. The people are still nice, and good service. Maybe my taste was just off today.
Definitely the desserts redeemed the less-than-stellar meal. Service was slow but typical of most dine-in experiences today
Arrived 2pm for late lunch. Was seat yourself. Waitress was tad slow for being empty. Ordered roast beef on hoagie, chips, auju was salty meat tender didn't care for the seasoning they used n bread was good. Got egg salad & crackers for app was tasty. Service was but under par. Not sure I'd go back due to many good restaurant choices we have.
I'd love to give it 5 stars all the way around but the water they serve there is terrible you have to put like three whole lemons just to change the nasty dishwasher taste in the water but all in all it is one of the best places to eat in Amarillo I would love to have given it five stars all the way around but lots of people like to drink water and their water is just disgusting
They were out of all side veggies, didn't offer a substitute, & the price was the same. The food was very bland. Waitress was nice and very strange, lol. Peach cobbler was really good. I would go back to order dessert only!
Was extremely disappointed in the menu. I ended up getting grilled cheese that wasn't so great...how do you mess up grilled cheese? Service not good, and they didn't take American Express so I now have something extra to expense.
The only problem I have is the food would be better if it was hot our food wasn't even warm good flavor tho just not hot not a very good impression for a first customer yes I do try a place I never ate before and I do comment on them and let people decide for themselves and so the owners can see what they aren't seeing or catching
1st time here and we were very disappointed. We checked reviews before we went and I don't understand how this place got so many 5 stars. The food was terrible, both my wife's and my dishes were bland....very bland. I think this place has something against flavor. Maybe the cook had an off night or something but we will not be back.
Waitress was wonderful, food good. The only complaint, and it was a deal breaker, was I went to the restroom and was looking at the Amarillo history displayed on the wall outside of the of the door. I was told I wasn't allowed to spend that much time looking(since they didn't own the pictures 🙄) and had to go back to my seat. I guess they assumed I was a liberal and was up to no good. Felt very uncomfortable. Good place, but felt very unwelcome.
Nice atmosphere, very friendly staff, worst sandwich I have had in a LONG time. The "French Dip" was a miss. So disappointed. Beef was mushy and flavorless, bread was too soft and not toasted enough to withstand dipping in au jus without disintegrating. The au jus was grey and murky, also flavorless. Pretty sure it was just the roast beef from the entree menu with some pan drippings.
I like this place, the food is presented well and tastes good, the place is clean, prices are fair. The dining room is decorated in interesting photos and items from the Amarillo area. BUT, I have to give this review hoping the owner will hear me and think on a solution to the noisy acoustics of the place. I imagine the owner has normalized this and has no idea of how it is for the customers. The floor is hard ceramic, the tables and chairs are bare wood, the ceiling appears to be a modern version of the retro decorative stamped panels. Walls are drywall, windows are large with plate glass. All of this creates an acoustic nightmare, especially for anyone over 50 years old who doesn't have 20 year old hearing any more. We go to visit or meet friends or family and want to have a normal conversation, not have to yell over the other patrons who are also yelling to hear each other. There are modern innovative solutions to solve acoustic problems like I'm describing. As simple as rugs, chair padding, or some drapes or fabrics would help. Or commercial sound deadeners placed discretely along the walls or corners of the ceiling. I like this place but have to avoid it too, because it's a miserable experience.

The food was elementary school/nursing home gross. The service was really attentive... to the point that I thought I was in an X-Files episode. Creepy. Not a family restaurant.
I will never eat here again. The manager treats customers horrible. I've never had to deal with that much disrespect in my life, and to come from a manager shows a lot.
Since having covid, i have a strange adversity to salads with preservatives. I asked our server to please bring a single leaf out so that I could see for myself is theirs was edible for my condition. They refused stating, "we don't give out samples" Our 1st and last time at this awful place! How pathetic! 😔
They don't like to change their gloves I was told they don't like to throw stuff away I was a cook there u don't touch raw meat and then chicken with the same gloves or being allowed to change ur gloves oh wipe it off with chemical rag umm that's cross comtination I am glad I've never eaten there qnd I no longer work there cuz if someone gets sick I don't want it to be because of me not being allowed to change my gloves or wash my hands wish yhe customers knew how their food was being made if u don't want to get sick don't eat here
One of the most horrible experiences i have ever had. To sum my experience up briefly I was discriminated against as a vet with disabilities, embarrassed in front of family, friends, and restaurant patrons, and very vocally asked to leave immediately with my service dog bringing numerous eyes to me quickly raising my anxiety levels. I'm a military vet who suffers from mental and physical trauma including PTSD and anxiety to name a few and have a service animal who helps me cope and handle my conditions. Furthermore i was asked what my conditions were which according to the Americans With Disabilities Act is not allowed by businesses so clearly this establishment needs training on this. No signs were displayed barring service animal entry which is illegal but none the less i would've honored them without complaint as opposed to the embarrassment i experienced. We all left without issue and as a veteran I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. Especially my military service members who I proudly served with.
Love LOVE the Ham Salad!! And their pies ..omg .. esp Coconut Cream Pie. A must eat at least 2-3 times a month!!
I came in with my service dog and a couple of my friends during lunch. There was a man working at the front that we later realized was either the manager or the owner, I'm honestly not entirely sure which. As we walked in the man saw my service dog and moved to stand in front of me. He asked me the 2 questions per the ADA about my service dog which I was happy to answer. Unfortunately, he didn't seem to believe my answer and stared at me for a minute before pointing to a table in the back and saying we could sit there. I didn't mind the place he sat us but the restaurant was a seat yourself kind of thing and what he did goes against the ADA. That situation had me kind of on edge as we sat down. The food was great but hard to enjoy because he kept watching my service dog as he would pass by and it made me quite uncomfortable. As a disabled person I can't recommend this place.
I went to Marion Cafe to have lunch with my Wife and had a bizarre experience. The waitress seated us and cleaned off a table for us. A few minutes later, the manager came over and told us we needed to move tables and share another table with another group. When we politely said no, he told us they weren’t going to serve us because the other people were “here first.” They were waiting for the rest of their party to show up. I told him that if that was the case, the waitress should not have seated us to begin with. If you want to be treated like an inconvenience instead of a customer this is the place for you. It seemed like the manager or owner may be inexperienced in running the business.
Blindly stopped here. Place looks nice on the outside, looks like a dump/small town cafe on the inside. Decorated with Trump signs that I didn’t see until after I ordered or I wouldn’t have eaten here at all. One sign said “100% American workers” which is fine I guess, but their values really reflect in their food. Perhaps a more diverse crew would provide more palatable food. The food was so bland and the wine was disgusting. The entire atmosphere, plating, and taste of the food gives retirement home.

I told him that if that was the case, the waitress should not have seated us to begin with. If you want to be treated like an inconvenience instead of a customer this is the place for you. It seemed like the manager or owner may be inexperienced in running the business.
