⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Had a great experience at McAlister’s Deli! The food was spot on, the French dip was hot, flavorful, and perfectly done, and their sweet tea was exactly how sweet tea should be. Fast service, clean restaurant, and consistently good food. Always a solid choice when you want something satisfying.
The staff is nice. Their utensils are clean and sanitized properly. The food is well crafted and well prepared. The floors are clean. This is an excellent family dining experience.
The food was delicious and the staff was very helpful and friendly. This was the first time that my wife and I have eaten at McAlister's Deli since the start of the pandemic, and it was a great meal. I highly recommend this place!
The customer service is top notch here. The whole staff was so friendly and helpful. We were so impressed and the food did not disappoint either. Thank you for such an amazing experience!!!
Greeted coming in store by employees. Ordered sandwiches, fruit and soup with drinks was brought to the table. Soup was hot and generous for a cup that was enough for me to eat. Sandwich was assembled as ordered and not overpowered by dressing(a plus) as some get a little carried away condiments. Server was great on checking with us for food preparation, drink refills or if we neede 'go' container. All employees as we were leaving thanked for stopping by business. Cleaning of tables and surfaces were done by area when cudtomers left paying attention to surfaces where food was served and eaten. Mask wearing is optional and recommended for safety of all but not required. When we visited it was mid afternoon few customers plenty of sitting for social distancing.
This restaurant started in my home state (Mississippi), & I've always really liked their food. The staff at this location in Amarillo are especially friendly & accommodating. Highly recommended if you're looking for a good meal.
Broccoli cheese soup was great. The sandwich has too much dressing on it, other than that it was good.
Perfect social distancing. Very clean. Noe the manager was on top of everything and super nice calm. 1/2 club and dumbling soap top shelf tasty. Wife got chipotle chicken salad it was loaded and delicious.
I personally didn't like the Caesar dressing but they kindly got me a fresh new salad no charge. Soup was also delicious so I left with a full belly and smile on my face. I'll defiantly be back.
I took my son to lunch yesterday around 11:30 am it wasn't busy at all we ordered our food and got a table easy. The food came out fast and was good , I got the french onion soup and half roasted Turkey pepper jack melt it was very good . Will definitely be back ...
McAlister's Deli is always great. I just wanted to comment that we walked in 15 minutes prior to closing. Normally when you walk into a restaurant that late, you kind of get the feeling you are interrupting their closing work. Not here! The customer service was great. Thanks for making us feel so welcome!
We thought we put in a Togo order online and it turns out it didnt due to something with the network. They were freaking out and WOW did they do great. The manager put a rush on our order (I told them its all good) and it took less then 10 mins and they made sure everything was perfect. I can not thank them enough
First time here. Of note: Clean. Fast service. I ordered the Jalapeno Turkey. Side of chili and fresh fruit. Fresh. Fresh. Fresh. Everything was delicious and tasty. Good combo of flavor. Mgr came by to check on us. We will be back. Highly recommend for lunch, or a light dinner.
McAlister's Deli is one of my favorite restaurants. I love how this place their food is always served and cooked freshly. There employee are so friendly they are also so informed on what every sandwich or soups and ingredients that are very helpful.
You have to be specific on the times you go here. Busy around 12 and 5. Best time to go when the food is the best is 7 pm or 8pm. Sometimes early in the morning about 10 are the best times I have figured out where the food is fresh. Overall love the sandwiches, soups and the variety of options.
04/02/22 - It was my first time eating here, so I ordered a sandwich that I hoped would remind me of something my German grandmother used to cook: the Horseradish Roast Beef. To be honest, I was a bit skeptical that it would even remotely taste like Gramma's cooking, so I didn't have high expectations at all. The friendly waitress brought a decently sized sandwich and set it before me. I bit into it and was pleasantly surprised: the meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful; the bread was soft and fresh; the flavor was outstanding! The horseradish was just strong enough to be noticed, but not so strong as to overpower the other flavors - a balance that is quite challenging to do with the ground root condiment. The atmosphere was enjoyable, the service was good, and the food was delicious. VERDICT: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
First time for us to stop and eat somewhere after the virus hit the area. Normally we would just get our food and go but my husband needed to eat soon for health reasons. They were quick, clean and everyone was practicing safe distancing! The food was amazing as always and the ladies who rang us up and brought the food were super nice.
Very inviting and the staff was super friendly and informative! The food was fresh and presentation was amazing. Clean atmosphere! Highly recommended
The soups and sandwiches are really good here. There tea and lemonade is also good. The place is kept really clean so are the bathrooms. Service is friendly and orders normally come out quickly. The atmosphere is nice and a good amount of seating available.
Always a quick healthier option to eat. Their unsweetened tea is always great. They give you a decent sized drink. Restaurant is always clean. Staff is helpful with any requests. Make sure you get a free refill on your drink as you are leaving.
I have eaten here for about five years now. It's great for a quick but nice lunch. Good food. Nice selection. I get the Choose Two and iced tea. Staff is well chosen and well trained. I always have a positive opinion of each visit.
Sign said that we would have a 15 minute wait, they even apologized to us and asked if that was OK with us before we ordered. We ordered and got our food really fast! It was great quality too! 👏
After a very horrible door - delivery experience In quite a bit of weight for my food it was delicious. While the food was very good I have to give my highest praise to the manager. He took the time during His I'm sure insane day to call me to apologize for the issues with my delivery. I most definitely will continue to give McAlister's my business. Great food, Great people!
Superb spot if you are looking for a refreshing lunch or dinner. Prices are maybe a tad high but not terrible; their strawberry lemonade and sweet tea are awesome. Service/management is always friendly and helpful. One of my normal go-to spots.
Food was wonderful 👍. But the best part was Ruth, who brought our food out. She was so nice and informative. She even got us extra dressing and as we were getting up to leave she cleared the table and offered to refill our drinks.
Food here is great. During peak hours of lunch and sometimes dinner, they are significantly under-staffed at the time of this review, so the service is fairly slow. Regardless all staff are still very kind, polite and do a great job of making us aware of how long things take. Always enjoy coming here.
I ordered the baked potato with everything on it. Portion was huge. Lots of toppings. Food came out quick. The staff was very friendly. Restaurant was clean, the bathrooms were clean. My boyfriend ordered one of the sandwiches, no complaints from either of us. Great place for a satisfying hot meal that doesn't take very long. The lemonade is strong. Good but strong.
This is a very good McAlister's. I had the Choose 2 with the NewYorker sandwich and the Savannah Salad. My wife had a sandwich and broccoli cheddar soup. The portions were large and the food was delicious. A special shout out for the tea. Many places are using canned tea now. It's great to have truly freshly brewed iced tea and very good.
We went for lunch when we were traveling through the area. It wasn't too busy, but the staff were all super friendly and the food was good. The tables and bathrooms were clean as well.
Great customer service at this McAlister's location in Amarillo TX! The salads and sandwiches are freshly made and delicious! Not too expensive considering the size of the plates. Love that they have outdoor seating. If you are looking for an alternative to the regular fast food, try McAlister's Deli for a healthier option.
Really, really good food. So, we all had salads this time - all different and all amazing. The service was fast and friendly. There is more than enough seating and they are willing to let you sit and talk. No pressure. They will come around and ask if they can refill your drink for you, or take away your empty plate, but that's it! We were able to catch up and have a wonderful conversation and time. We started outside, but came in due to poor weather. But, they have some pretty landscaping, so I got to take some pretty pictures of a rainbow and clouds.
While I haven't had very good luck with their salads (the lettuce doesn't always taste fresh), their sandwiches are delicious. The service at this location is amazing as well. They were very helpful and kind.
We came in about an hour before close and the place was clean and the food was fresh. The staff were very kind and all the food came out quick. Highly recommend.
Really good selection of salads and sandwiches. I also love to get the soups with the bread bowl, they are amazing! My only complaint is that the salads are now much smaller than they used to be but still the same price.
First time here, love healthy options available. Food was close to perfect, a little to much liquid like dressing in the Tomato and cucumber salad, hubby's potato salad was just ok, my chicken salad sandwich on Cresent was wonderful, hubby's French dip Angus sandwich was great, meat was tender and bread was soft. Got a oreo cheesecake slice to go to share. But it was the smallest sliver of pie ever, not a slice a sliver. That's why 4 star. For $6.48 it was to tiny. Our sandwiches totaled $28 which is kinda pricey but they were worth it. The pie nope. Skip the dessert. As far as service it was very good, and place was clean. We arrived for a late lunch not very many other customers so we received our order quickly. We will return when in Amarillo. It was on 34th st.
Food was good but a lot of the dining room tables still hadn’t been cleared from the previous customers.
I picked up 2 orders of baked potatoes. The potatoes were under done; little butter, and 4 of the thinnest slivers of bacon pieces I have ever seen. Normally, McAllisters is better than this. It wasn't particularly busy. The service was great! The atmosphere was typical McAllisters.
Enjoyed lunch at McAlister's today. It could be a little cleaner as the tables were a little sticky, which could be their cleaning solution. The food tasted great! My friends sandwich came to her falling apart on the plate, but she said it still tasted good despite it looking like a mess!
Good place to get fresh salads and decent tasting soup. Make sure you check your online order when picking it up. Had something incorrect orders a couple times, but was quickly resolved after pointing it out. It's like playing rushing food roulette with any drive through or online ordering restaurant this day and age.
Decided to try this place. Had the french dip with mac and cheese and a soda. Everything was hot and served quickly. Sandwich was good and the au jus was excellent. Cheese sauce was too runny but otherwise fine. Soda was all ice and little soda.
Eh. The food was good. The place was clean. The staff was friendly. But I don't know that I would consider it a good value. I think one can find better (and more) food for the same cost elsewhere.
I love this place, but everything is so expensive I can only go a few times a year. Be nice if they offered First Responders and Military discounts. Because their food is sooo good.
Good quality deli sandwich shop. Fresh ingredients. Everything was hot like it was supposed to be. A bit of a slow wait but expected on a sunday after church. The loaded potato was huge and had plenty of toppings. The potato soup was nice and creamy. Had plenty of potatoes in it. Super wonderful teas. Great selections to choose from. Nice and strong and not too weak.
The food was good but the signs were misleading. The description of sandwiches states that they are available whole or choose 2. They come with a pickle and a side. This is not true, however. If a customer chooses 2, as I did, he doesn't get a side included in the price, just a pickle. That should be made clear in some way.
Food was pretty good but the staff was overwhelmed and not very efficient. We ordered online and food was to be ready for pickup at 12:51. When I got there at 12:51 they were bagging up our food. I waited 10 more minutes and another employee said they were again bagging up our food. Another 10 minutes of standing at the counter and a manager came over and finally got our order out.
Slow service here the day we were there, but food was good as usual. Personnel were nice and helpful. Kids meals are $.99 when you dine in, so that's nice when you're trying to feed hungry kids!
Ordered a Memphian, a garden salad, and a cookie. Arrived at the scheduled pickup time to find out the kitchen lost my ticket, so had to wait for them to make my order. They also forgot to include my cookie with the order, which I didn't find out until I returned to the office. Typically my experience with McAlister's is a good one. This was an off day for them. The food was good though.
Not a fan, everything is sort of bland. They changed the way they made their tea for awhile, it was aweful. I think they changed the portion sizes too. They're supposed to have good tea, but no. I won't say don't go but I'd not make it your first choice. Whatever you get, don't get a potato.
Good place consistent staff. Great sandwhiches. A lil dirty today though. 7/1/18 Edited Adding from our last visit. Tea taste old, bread tasted like it should have been thrown out a day ago. Kinda like someone left the bread open quite stale. I'm removing a star because they are consistently getting further from a return visit.
Broccoli chedder soup was amazing, and warm. My half of sandwhich looked amazing on menu. It in fact was nothing like that. Very little of everything for a $ 11 sandwhich, in which I ordered extra stuff on I paid for and didnt receive, it's pretty sad. It looks sloppy and made by a 1st grader, no condiments, no pickle, no lemon as ordered, couldn't fix it because I door dashed it to the hospital... I won't be ordering again
The New Yorker is flat on taste & half the size of Jason's Deli version. Tea is such a big deal here - why? It was mediocre at best and has nothing on other places! Prices were way too high compared to Jason's Deli. Gave it a 1 as their potato salad was ok. Over all will not eat here again! Edit: ate here again couple months ago and it has become a lot better, give it a try.
Average is the only way to describe this McAlisters. They were slow taking orders, slow getting a refill done, and the place was struggling to stay clean. Everyone keeps dropping portion sizes including McAlisters so I guess that makes it average on that account too. The food tasted good and a gentleman getting off his shift stopped to refill my tea so the service wasn’t all bad.
My wife and I have eaten here at least once a month since we were dating (nearly 7 years). My wife is a fan of the ultimate nachos. Probably for the last year or so they consistently get our order wrong. On one occasion they told me after calling in an order (and a live person took my order) that "the system lost your order." They appear to always be short on staff lately. We really want to continue coming, but it is frustrating when they consistently mess the order up. Typically they leave something off of the nachos (no tomatoes and about 1/4 as many chips as usual was the case tonight). Not sure what happened, they were really consistent years ago. Maybe need new management and better training for kitchen staff. On a bright note, the sweet tea is the best and at least that is consistent.
It doesn’t seem that there is ever a time that we come to this location without some sort of issue. Whether it’s that they’re seriously understaffed running 45 minute ticket times, sandwiches not with the correct ingredients, or just not getting the right food sent out. Frustrating to say the least considering the ever inflating prices.
The customer service component is lacking. The counters were sticky and trying to get someone to even acknowledge you're there is one thing. This was on the evening shift and I attribute this to management. Maybe next time it will go different.
The food was fast and good, but they seemed to needed more wait staff to manage the crowd. My baked potato was delicious, but needed more butter and sour cream. It must have taken ten minutes to find someone to fetch some.
Can you at least cut up my avocado? An entire half is crazy to casually put on someone’s sandwich. Today the service was good but 9/10 times, the service is horrible. They take an hour, and ignore and don’t like to help customers. Like cmon it’s not hard to do your job and slice the produce up.
Wasnt the best experience I've ever had here....came in and they were busy so we expected a little bit of a wait, but we sat for 30 minutes waiting on our food when people who came in after us started getting their food before us. When we finally did get our food it was old and poorly made. My family really loves Mcalisters, but this experience was disappointing....I really hope next time is better....
The food is good and the front desk girl was very nice, but....arrived at 7:30 tonight (friday), and the line was 8 -10 people long with one girl at the front. We were told that all the other registers had already been closed and taken out. Then we were told they were out of CO2 for the soda when the machines were clearly broken down to be cleaned for the night. Half of the tables already had the chairs put up on top of them. When our food was brought out we asked for more crackers and she said "yeah sure" then never brought them. The soups were lukewarm. There were a lot of dirty tables and it didn't seem to be very clean.
Not impressed. We both had a club sandwich, only one slice of what I call instant bacon, you know that precooked thin flavorless stuff. Thin tomato, looked to be 1 slice. Very little greens on it. So that one layer of a club amounted to almost nothing. Didn't see any mayo, very little honey mustard, making it dry. Sandwich overall was just okay, not much flavor. Not worth $30 for 2. Our first and last time there.
There is a new soup (crab/corn chowder) and new grilled chicken. After ordering the sandwich I saw the advertisement to add a cup of soup for $2.50 but then there was a note that a cup was only $1.00. The upshot was that I was charged $2.50 for the soup and $1.00 for changing my mind. The waitress spoke to Noey the manager, he did not come to the table nor offer to adjust the bill. I like their food and tea but will not return there because of this.
I thought it would be a quick get in, pay and get out type of way, instead, I went inside, waited for the 2 people who are already in line and paid ahead. When it I was next, I got my food and ready to pay, but had to wait 20 minutes cause the employee, I guess she's a new hire and not train on registers, told her to wait other cashier to check me out, but she already had a huge line and there were about 6 people behind me that needed to pay as well. So please train the new hires on registers when that happens.
The folks taking the orders did their best and it was lunch rush. That being said, over 20 minutes wait for food after ordering and paying. They also brought out the to-go orders in large batches instead of just when each one was ready. I recommend, go at an off hour, call way in advance, or pick somewhere else to eat. Good food, though!
Don't waste your money coming to this deli. We have tried several times to like this place, each time getting something different hoping what we had before was just maybe not that good. This time is the final straw. The salad was wilted and brown throughout as well as wet like it was not dried or maybe just old. The sandwiches, each time, have been pathetic and dinky in size. The only thing that they do do well, probably because they don't cook it is the potato soup. One night we had went in to also be told the life story of some child they had working there. Just save your money and go somewhere else. Not to mention I've been in several times and had employees complaining in front of customers about their shifts and duties such as needing to mop the floor. Ridiculous.
Clearly understaffed, with obvious room for improvement in management. What little staff was working seemed very friendly but exceptionally stressed. The food was okay, but not worth the long wait (both in line and after the kitchen "lost my ticket" for one cup of soup). I will not be returning.
They leave off avocado on the nachos almost everytime I order
Seemed understaffed. Only one person taking orders, so it took over 20 minutes to place order. Could not get a drink refill because the line was too long with only one person upfront. Ordered a sandwich with bacon and was not told that they were out of bacon. Asked about the bacon and I was told they were out and no solutions/alternatives were provided.
I took my family and some friends to eat and enjoy a free tea this week. The experience was the worst I have ever had there from the food to the terrible service and bad attitudes of those working. The potato soup was watery and flavorless. We asked for extra chives on the baked potato and were told that they were out of chives. We also had to ask for butter for the potato. The people working were rude when we asked for the butter and they charged us $1.25 for a tiny side of honey mustard. The McCallisters on I-40 just closed and with the way the one on 34th is being run I can promise you it won’t be open much longer either. Amarillo has too many choices to give bad food and bad service. Peace out!
I use to love coming here. Today I was getting coffee with my dad and figured I would grab a bite to eat before I went home. Wrong choice. There were six tables that ordered AFTER me. With multiple people in their group. I got my food 25mins later. Cold. It was a ham and cheese melt. A hot sandwich. It took another 12mins just to get a new sandwich. You should really look at the people you hired none of them were polite. They rolled their eyes when I asked for my food to be remade. The kitchen manager really needs to be replaced she looked like she had no idea what she was doing.
Do NOT stop to eat here, terrible quality, service, and took 25min to get food.
Portion sizes are horrible. Directions are not followed.
We entered the place ar 730 pm. The staff was in full close mode. We ordered without any issues but waited over 20 minutes for what other McAlisters take 5 minutes. The food was marginal. My sandwich felt like it had been under a heat lamp for a while. Her salad mix was past the fresh date. One third of the greens were discarded. All in all a less than stellar experience. We typically really trust McAlister s to provider good quality and fast service. That didn't happen at this one. Very disappointing.
The food was good that being said the employee working the front was very rude. To every customer she encountered, including us. Their RO water system was down so they didn't have any tea available. They were serving lemonade out of the despenser even thought it was not turned on and the container it's self was very dirty. There were many dirty tables and only one person taking care of the dinning room and to go orders. She was very plesent and apologetic when our food order was wrong. The family that ordered before us also had an incorrect order and the rude girl at the front demanded to see the receipt to prove that the order was wrong. We won't be going back to this location.
Line was out the door. One cashier was working a lunch rush. People walking out over how busy they were. Was told 45 minute wait for food. Food was good just a long wait.
This place use to be great but lately their food is just gross.. my son got a kids pizza and it was literally a frozen pizza you buy at walmart 😒. Their mac n cheese is watery with slimy noodles..ew. my sandwhich was decent but nothing great. All I know is my meal was definitely not worth $15 at ALL!! Spend your money somewhere else where its worth it.
Food is not good tasted stale and old. 30 bucks for two sandwich with no flavors like damn subway does better. I'm amazed the tea is even fresh. Couldn't finish meal due to stale taste and long wait
Got take out today and wasnt that impressed! They are very stingy on salad dressing, only give you a half of a little cup, like who wants to eat dry salad! And my chicken club sandwich all I could taste was honey mustard, they put too much! Wont be back forsure!!
Long wait for food despite coming into an empty restaurant; soup cups filled slightly over halfway & sparse toppings on nachos; multiple mistakes on our order. Kids meals come with a cookie, but none came and no explanation. When I asked they said they were out, and despite there being rows of a different cookie behind her, she said they would not substitute. No price reduction on the kids meal though, of course :) The staff was friendly, this was the only upside.
This particular one is pretty terrible. The wait time for just to order the food is always awful. There’s never enough workers. Never anyone in the front to help and the kitchen is always understaffed.
I came in on a day they were unfortunately short staffed and the man in the back, attitude and behavior was completely uncalled for. The poor girl working the front looked like she wanted to cry and the elderly couple who were waiting in front of me were treated absolutely horribly. All he did, the entire wait for my food was use foul language toss items around and verbally degraded customer in front of us and Extremely loud in the back where all of us could hear. The rest of the staff was super helpful and easy to work with but that man’s behavior was unacceptable for any reason.
Mac and cheesy was soupy and the baked potato made my brother poopy 😭 I think we got food poisoning!
Very slow service at this location. Every time I’ve ever gone here, the order always comes out wrong. The sandwiches are good when made right but you have to go through a lot just to get a good sandwich. The I-40 and western location is fast and always gets our orders correct.
There were 10 customers in the store at 12:20 and we had to wait 20 + minutes for our order. The excuse was short staff and that must be because you don’t pay competitive. No customers no business!
Ordered a large order for a meeting. We were missing half the order. Called the store to tell them and they said Oh yea we forgot a few bags here. So after paying delivery WE had to drive there to go get the food. Around ten people were waiting for their food and angry at us for the restaurants mistake.
They don’t have filtered water. So it’s tap water straight from the faucet.
We waited for an hour for our food when I went to check to see what was going on the girl that was behind the counter said it’s not ready yet and walked away. This was always a great place for lunch but will not be back
I got the harvest chicken salad sandwich and noticed it tasted a little off. Well, it was off! Way off!! I got food poisoning! This was our first and last time eating there.
Worker tried to argue when me when I asked if they could change their gloves form my gluten allergy. So rude would not come back. Horrible service
The wait was awful. For not being very busy it took over an hour for our 2 entrees to be ready. My husband walked up front to ask them to pack ours up because we couldn’t keep waiting. No apology, very apathetic. We really try to be patient and understanding but when you hear the kitchen joking about how they don’t care about ticket times it’s pretty frustrating. For it to not be very busy, it could have been cleaner also. Will not be returning.
Hot & Miserable inside and totally Overpriced! I decided to try McAlister’s Deli for lunch because on their online menu I noticed what I thought would be a great special - Choose 2 for $10.39 - I ordered 1/2 Reuben with Cup of Broccoli Soup. Then I made the critical mistake of getting a sweet tea which somehow brought my total to $16.32??? That just seems ridiculous to me. On top of that, the cashier was very rude and put-off when I asked for my receipt to try to figure out why my lunch was so expensive, and it was very hot and miserable inside. As I was waiting for my take-out (no drive through either), I was sweating and very uncomfortable considering I still had to go back to work like that. As bad as my experience was, I will say, that was a pretty good Reuben.
We're getting to the age of no customer service. Mccallisters charges you $.35 for someone who doesn't work af the restaurant to take your order. So basically they are charging YOU to replace an employee taking your order from the store. Don't believe me, just call to place an order over the phone and look at your receipt at the service fee. Ask them what it's for. The only way to solve problems like this is to refuse to order from them anymore, I already mentioned this to the GM once before. Nothing changed, so I won't ever go back. It's only $.35 but $.35 per order pays for the service they are using, which they should be responsible for, instead of hiring an employee. Essentially taking an employees position and charging you for it. Lovely.
