I come every year on my birthday to get the Elk Steak. It each year it has a different side. This year was a butternut squash risotto. This year was my least favorite but still good. Typically, it’s the best steak in town.

Wow. An amazing restaurant that is a must have when in downtown Amarillo. Try the Elk as it is easily the best in town and probably 300 miles. The Rib-eye is king and you cannot miss here. Cameron was our server and treated us with utmost respect and service. Definitely DO NOT skip this place when looking for a premier dining experience.

If you've spent any time in Amarillo, you know that O.H.M.S Cafe & Bar is fine dining and signature drinks at their best. The atmosphere, the service, the menu options, the desserts, and drinks are all top notch. We met a couple of friends from Dallas there, and we had the best time. Our waiter Cameron, aka Cam-Dizzle, aka Dizzle, was THE best waiter I've ever had in my life. We'd eaten prior to coming, but we were there for drinks and desserts and Cam was on the spot with great recommendations. The S'mores Cheesecake was lovely. The Crème Brûlée was amazing, and the butterfinger ice cream was good to the last bite. We highly recommend O.H.M.S. and Cameron in particular. Great stuff.

Lovely, relaxed bar/ restaurant. Friendly staff team. The elk tenderloin was out of this world, honestly incredible, the risotto underneath was stupidly good and the veg was al dente to perfection, the perfect crunch. Couldn’t recommend more.

We absolutely loved our dinner at OHMS. We were visiting Amarillo for a couple of days and staying at the Barfield downtown. I researched dinner spots and this place seemed to be the best choice. It was exactly the right choice. I called about two weeks ahead and was able to get reservations at the time we wanted. We started with cocktails. They were both good but the bourbon old fashioned was better than the gin cocktail. And the old fashioned here was better than a similar drink at the Paramount Recreation Club next door, the Speakeasy in the basement of the Barfield that you gain entry by "buying" Paramount cigarettes from an antique machine (suddenly the door behind you opens and voila you're in). Back to the main story... For appetizer we shared a special of the night, the crab cakes. They were perfectly seared and they were bursting with crabmeat. Spiced just right. And the accompanying sauce, we wanted to lick the plate clean. They were really good. For the mains, one of us had Elk and the other had Chicken. The Elk, recommended medium rare, was oh so tender and moist. The local mushrooms that accompanied were worthy of their own dish. The risotto at the bottom was also good. Unfortunately the photo doesn't show a dish as delicious as it was. We were surprised a little that the Elk wasn't more gamey tasting. It's not a bad thing, just was a surprise. The chicken was also outstanding. Crunchy and moist. The asparagus was firm but tender, and the mashed potatoes were excellent. I must say it could have used a little more gravy as all that gravy was gone a bit before the chicken was. But then i am a sauce guy. No room for dessert. Would love to visit for dinner again!

O.H.M.S. is an upscale yet unpretentious spot for American dishes and some ethnic-inspired fare. On our last visit we didn't make a reservation on a Friday night and were told it'd be a two-hour wait for walk-ins. However, we were told the bar offers the full menu and then found a seat immediately. Despite being a busy weekend night we had great service at the bar. I ordered the Beef Filet au Poivre and my partner got the Merluza Fillet. We split the Fried Egg Salad as an appetizer and finished with a Crème Brulee. The egg salad really stood out to me, and my steak was cooked perfectly. Our bartender Jake recommended a merlot that paired great with the beef. Great experience overall. O.H.M.S. is a great spot for date night, special occasions, or just because. I'd encourage reservations if you need a more intimate experience, but the bar was great for us.

If I could give 7 stars, I would. They did an outstanding job for our wedding. The food was above and beyond fantastic. Service was incredible. Lindsey did the cake and it was absolute perfection.

I loved this place! It had a classy feel, great service, and AMAZING food! I started with a melon Collins to drink and the Sliders of the Day for an appetizer -- French Dip was on the menu that night. For my entree, I had the Elk Tenderloin with mushrooms and herb risotto. It was probably the best meal I've ever eaten, accompanied by a nice atmosphere. Couldn't recommend this place enough!

OMS is a great place for lunch in downtown Amarillo. The Shepherd’s Pie, stuffed peppers, pasta and other yummy dishes are top notch. Food is served cafeteria style and service is quick, even when lines get a bit long. Arrive early to beat the crowds! Don’t even get me started about the desserts. Last time I was there, they had a bread pudding concoction that was out of this world! Prices are reasonable. Highly recommended.

My coworker and I decided to have dinner at OHMS and made a last minute reservation for 6pm. We were able to get a table and were impressed with the menu. We split the Tuna Tartare (forgot to take a pic) and it was delicious. The tuna was fresh and tasted phenomenal with the sauce and fresh greens. I ordered the grilled ribeye and it came with broccoli and baked Mac and cheese. The steak was delicious but a little more fatty than a regular ribeye. The butter that was topped over the steak was absolutely delicious and paired well with the steak. I look forward to visiting again the next time I'm in Amarillo.
