Dining out here was an overall great experience. The food was great, the staff was very friendly. The food was flavorful and had a great Cajun flair without being too spicy. They also had cheeseburgers for the kids, so you don’t have to avoid it because there is only seafood. We will definitely be back when we pass through Amarillo again.
Flavorful, delicious, and well sized portions. Ordered the Pit Master Mac & Cheese and the Shrimp Etoufee. The Pit Master was a bit on the greasy, heavy side, but filling and a good mix of bbq meats to mac & cheese. The Shrimp Etoufee had a great red beans and rice side that was soft and flavored with pieces of pork meat. Wait time was a bit long, but friendly service and food comes out fresh and hot. Worth going to and trying it.
We had the Pit Master Mac & Cheese and it was really good. The sausage and bacon on it were fantastic. I would have never thought to put brisket, sausage, bacon and pulled pork on Mac & Cheese, but it was actually a great combination. The size of this is dish is large and can definitely be shared. I can’t wait to come back and try the Creole Nachos, the West Texas Cheese Steak, and the Jambalaya.
Ran by a very friendly and culinarily-gifted husband / wife duo, along with their children. I stopped in for lunch this afternoon on my way through Amarillo, had some really great chicken and sausage gumbo, paired with a perfectly-curated summer shrimp salad. The crusty bread soaked up the brown gravy perfectly, while the family’s polite kiddos pitched in with delivering the meal to the table and helping clean up. All washed down with a great homemade Texas iced tea, and some local art on the walls. Can’t beat a place a like this, especially for the price.
This place was SUPER good! We loved the food, the price and and the portions! We had the A. Alfredo pasta and it had chicken and smoked sausage which totally bonded all the creamy, savory and Smokey flavors together. Best cajun food! We’re definitely coming back and trying more! #supportlocalbusinesses
The food was great, happy we came to get a bite. I’d make an hour drive to eat there again. The food is worth it
In town for work for a couple of days and found Sunday’s Kitchen. Nice quiet spot, parking is easy enough during the day; there seem to be lots of spaces within easy walking distance. I ordered the Sunday Plate which is half shrimp etouffee and half smoked sausage with red beans over rice. So tasty. So filling. This will be lunch and dinner today.
Sorry for the photo.. I'd already taken a bit before I thought to snap a photo... this is the "pitmaster Mac & cheese" ( smoked brisket, roasted pork, grilled hotlink, sausage, bacon, fried onions, and jalapeño served over a creamy Mac & cheese, side of bbq sauce) to die for.. smidget pricey at 14.99 but the portion size easily can feed 2 people or make some awesome leftovers... I added a side of garlic toast and some blackened shrimp...
I think I know why it's called Sunday's Kitchen, because God blessed that food himself. Although, I'm pretty sure the way I demolished that Pit Master Mac & Cheese was sinful. Down-home, just like mama makes, food that's good for the soul. WARNING: leave your girdle/belt at the house.
Finally!! Great cajun in Amarillo! After living on the Texas coast near the LA border we've been missing cajun! The roux in the etoufee is perfect! The atchafalya pasta, PERFECT! The jalapeno popper burger DELISH! Cute little restaurant, super friendly people, and top notch food. Our new spot!
Everything here is top-notch! I will be taking the 2 hour drive soon just to eat here! The best Cajun twist eat in/ take out place until you hit Louisiana border for sure!
I ordered brunch for a work event that I was hosting and chose this place because of the great reviews. Well, those reviews didn't disappoint. Sunday's Kitchen catered brunch for 25 people and I got compliments from EVERYONE about the food. Not to mention, Tina (who answers their emails), was so sweet and helpful. Everyone left happy and full and we still had food leftover! Their portion sizes are huge (which is not a bad thing). I can't wait to eat here again!
Probably the best restaurant I’ve had in Amarillo! The window says simple, honest, true, and they got that right for sure. Chef Ron makes every bite magically taste better than the last until it’s all gone! I love Cajun food and this place does it right. I had the Sunday plate and my boyfriend had the gumbo. Both were delicious!!
This was a very good find. Everything was on point with the flavors. Healthy portions. I ate the shrimp and chicken gumbo. It was absolutely delicious. The girls had the pasta and they loved it. My friend had the Pitmsater. Smoked meats and Cajun cuisine, one usually pays the price. Not in this case. This place is a hidden gem. Worth the trip again and again. Thank you Tina, (our waitress) she NAILED IT. I wish I had taken pics but I was famished. Next time.
My husband and I were traveling through, and thankfully stumbled across this gem of a restaurant. We were met with a smile and generosity, and served the absolute best food! We had the pasta, and it was to die for! Absolutely recommend stopping in!
Great Cajun style offerings. Fish, fries, shrimp, and crab cakes were all excellent. The brisket nachos were phenomenal as well. Loved the brisket. Great flavor
I 100% recommend Sunday's kitchen. We have never had a bad experience from food to customer service. The experience is always amazing. Last night we had a double date for Valentines day/ birthday and it truly felt like we were at home enjoying a home cooked meal. Chef Ron and his beautiful wife went above and beyond to make sure our night out was epic. The steak was cooked to perfection and the cheesecake was to die for! We will definitely be back!! If you haven't tried them you're missing out.
I've had Sunday's Kitchen three times, and each was to-go or delivery. I've only ordered the Pit Master Mac & Cheese. It's delicious! There is enough food to feed 4-5 people or meal prep for a couple of days. 😂🤷🏿♀️ It has smoked brisket, roasted pork, grilled hotlinks, sausage, and bacon. It's also served with a couple of onion rings and a slice of garlic bread. Delicious! I put a hefty portion in a bowl (pictured) and had all of that leftover. (See the picture without foil.)
The atmosphere was so pleasant and inviting. The decor was awesome. Service was great for the end of the day; cheerful and informative. The food; was so delicious! We had the Poppin 4th burger and fries, and the bayou basket. You blew our taste buds away! Will definitely be returning! Keep up the great work chef Ron! And we will continue to watch you every Tuesday morning!
My sister recommended this place the next time I visited Amarillo, so today my mom, brother and I went to try it. It did not disappoint! I ordered the Rasta Nachos to start out and they did not see us coming. The sauce, the meats, the shrimp, all of it was absolutely delicious! Then we ordered the Pitmaster Mac n Cheese, Atchafalaya Alfredo, and Gumbo with chicken, sausage and shrimp. Each has its own delicious flavor that was so satisfying! The spice level was perfect for me. We all enjoyed every bite and the portion sizes wer nice! Definitely worth the prices. I am definitely making this part of my must have places when I visit Amarillo. There were several other dishes I want to try, so it will be a definite stop the next time I'm in Amarillo!
Excellent food and service. Simple and well executed menu. Had the shrimp and grits, build your own tortellini, and an order of the mixed berry pineapple upside down cake.
Sunday’s Kitchen is a winner! The food and service was absolutely amazing. You have to go try this place! Ok, if you haven’t had the crawfish grilled cheese you are missing out! 10 out of 10!!! We also had the individual king cake for the win!
First visit to Sunday’s Kitchen. Food was delicious. I had fried fish and the fish was light, tasty and fried perfectly. The Mac and Cheese had a flavor bomb in it! Yummy! Okra was cooked like my Mothers. Friends had shrimp dishes and they loved their dishes as well. See one pic enclosed I ordered us the Beignets with the berry compote and the chocolate dip. Oh so good! Their menu show brunch on Saturdays. I will definitely be back. Don’t miss this restaurant!
Their Oxtail grilled cheese is the hook up.....and watch out when they hand u fries....THEY HOT!!! Wonderful service & very clean. Can't even tell this was once a Subway
Absolutely amazing. I've been 2x so far and it's fantastic. I've had the bbq Mac (are tou kidding me?) Massive and sooo good. I couldn't finish it all in one meal. Also had the fried shrimp basket which was substantial and flavorful. Must try.
Delicious Saturday Brunch! Casual, welcoming atmosphere. Absolutely delicious French Toast with berry compote. I also had a side of scrambled eggs and fantastic coffee from Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans. Staff is very friendly and attentive. The rest of the menu looks amazing - I hope to come back for lunch or dinner.
First of all the lady with red hair needs a raise. Multiple people walking thru the door 30 min before close. She made sure we all got our food quickly and was very friendly while doing so. I got the biscuits and gravy & the SW potato’s. 10/10!!!! The biscuits literally fell apart when cut with a plastic fork and the potatoes were flavorful. I definitely cannot wait to come back and try everything on their menu!!!
I just want to give a huge Thank you! for our holiday meal. What a wonderful value and meal. This has been my favorite Thanksgiving, in large part because of your awesome plates. Really great.
Tried this for the first time today. YUM!! $20 for lunch (drink included) for the Creole Shrimp, which I thought was a little steep, until I opened the box. Completely packed full of shrimp. Flavor was absolutely amazing. I tried the fresh Watermelon Iced Tea and also the Coconut Iced Tea. Both were wonderful. The lady at the front that took my order was working the whole room efficiently and attentively, with a great attitude. You can really feel and taste the pride they take here! I'm a chef and I'll definitely be back. I can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Thank you!!!
Now, today I just popped in for some dessert, delicious beignets. And they were fantastically good. But, I come here quite often for full meals, and Chef Ron and his crew always deliver incredible food, great service, and a terrific value. I can personally attest to the ridiculous quality of the Amarillo Nachos, Jambalaya Pasta, and Pit Master Mac & Cheese along with all of the desserts. (I've got a sweet tooth, man. What can I say?) In addition to being a great cook offering delightful fare, Chef Ron is just a great human being, too. Love this place. UPDATE 1 day later: I was so tempted yesterday that I had to go right back for an actual meal. I once again had the Pit Master Mac & Cheese. And dang it was good. Great. Had another beignet. My friend had the jambalaya rice with shrimp added, and it was great, too. Heather was running the show at the counter, and she's always fantastic and kind and gracious.
I travel for work stopped here in Amarillo for tonight. I only go to places that has good reviews 4 and up.I saw this place online the food looks great so I tried it.I ordered over the phone the lady was very nice that took my order I went in to get my food she was just as nice at the register. I ordered the Atchafalaya Alfredo with extra cheese and Alfredo sauce. I tried it soon as I got in the car and it is delicious. I would definitely be stopping here again and will recommend it great food great flavor great taste.👍🏾
Best place we ate at in Amarillo. Seriously good food. Sunday bowl loaded with moist chunks of fried chicken. Sunday plate packed with shrimp ettuffe, red beans and rice and flavor. The shining star is the pit master mac and cheese. Absolutely scrumptious. Of course, everything is a huge portion just the way we like it. Took plenty home. If you're local and haven't been here, what are you doing?
We were so lucky to find this place. Driving home to California from Central Texas, searching for somewhere to eat in Amarillo, and we were loving it from the first taste of Shrimp Gumbo (which was so good my wife bought a bowl, to go). We ordered the Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese with fries, and added a side of Mac and Cheese. Our friends ordered the Shrimp Gumbo, and the Shrimp Étouffée. The Gumbo was delicious from bite one that was shared with everyone, seasoned perfectly and full of flavor. That first taste only created an excitement for our food to be brought to the table. The Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese is not a traditional Grilled Cheese, it was on a soft roll (I'm not sure what kind), but my first bite was so good, the pork is so tender, I just wanted more of everything. The fries were perfect (with and without ketchup), well seasoned and crispy. The Shrimp Étouffée (yes I Googled the spelling), was given to our slowest eater, and it was so good he was the first to finish his meal, he said he loved every bite, and thought the one piece of shrimp she got to try was amazing. We didn't get to speak to Chef Ron, but we did get to talk to his wife Tina, who was working the front, she was so nice, and her "staff" were very cute, and so helpful. If we lived in Amarillo we would be eating there all the time. Well done Chef Ron (and family), we will definitely make sure to stop by next time we are in town.

Great food and amazing service! I had a wonderful experience at Sunday’s Kitchen. The food was delicious, and our server, Heather, was fantastic. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend stopping by!
Staying downtown Amarillo? Take a short walk from your boring hotel restaurant and find yourself at this amazing local kitchen. Delicious home cooked food! Friendly and awesome service! Truly a must go!

Great overall experience, You order at the desk, then seat yourself. The food taste was amazing, and the only downfall was that it wasn't hot. I would hesitate to go in with my grandma since she's in a wheelchair I didn't think it was big enough or have the seating room, but it is! Came in with my family of 5. They had 1 big table just perfect for us. I'm glad we went and got to enjoy this place.

Ate here for lunch. Little hole in the wall downtown. Love little hole in the wall establishments. Theyre always making the best food. These guys however missed that mark for me. They even have odd hours making them that much more exclusive. I always say less is more. If they served food 7 days a week 14 hours a day it would probably lose the love that places like this are all about. Unfortunately that love is barely present here. Food was good. The mac and cheese was definitely a cut above. Gooey cheesey and good flavor and spice. It was the highlight of lunch. I had a jalapeño popper burger to go with the Mac. It was a fun concept but nothing to write home about. ( I guess unless youre writing a review) It had a cream cheese dressing with bacon and japs in it. Honestly for being a jalapeño popper burger the japs seemed to be in the background if barely present at all. They should have been the star. It came with brisket and onion rings stacked on it as well. In my case though it was onion RING. Not plural with a few crispy rings just the one. It covered half the burger. Disappointing. Over all the burger was good but I expected more. My daughter had an avocado burger with fries. I cant speak for the burger. It looked tasty. The fries however were just boring crinkle cut fries from the freezer and they lacked any kind of seasoning. Again slightly disappointing. I expect a place like this to be cranking out home made potatoes. Just my opinion. The atmosphere was quiet even with a full house. The seating was lacking as well as. We sat in metal fold out chairs that hurt your butt. Not my ideal choice for dining in any situation honestly. These chairs are made for uncomfortable conference rooms and wrestling. You know the kind Hulk Hogan would pull out from under the ring and bash Macho Man with....RIP to both...and yes I just showed my age. The wait staff seemed friendly. I say seemed though as I didnt get the impression that it was genuine. You can tell when someone is being quaint and that's the feeling I got from the lady at the counter. She seemed a bit curt and impatient with me. Almost like I was inconveniencing her. Not going to lie I also expect staff to be knowledgeable on the menu. When asked what something is cooked with then answering with "i dont know" without trying to find out and be informative is not acceptable to me. Especially when I already feel like you're being rude. Overall the experience was ok. Pricing seemed fair to me. Average for a place like this serving what they did. I didnt expect less. If anything the star was the mac and cheese and is what would draw me back to try other homemade items, barely. I would say its a hit or miss and I could stand to miss it next time.

If you've got a cpl hours for lunch you'll be ok. I ordered a taco salad. It took 45 minutes and the meat was cool. And the meat tasted off.
I was eager to try this place as it was one of the highest rated in town! I ordered the Pit Master Mac and Cheese and not trying to be rude, but $17 for box tasting Mac and Cheese was very disappointing. Not disappointed in the price but because the noodles were overcooked and cheese tasted very cheap. The food didn’t look appetizing to start with, so I was hoping that flavors would satisfy, but it was very bland and lacking flavor. The meat toppings were tough and had a lot of fat and cartilages/tendons that I had to move to the side. My husband didn’t touch the food at all. We’re not picky eaters and eat anything that looks fresh and made with wholesome ingredients, and unfortunately I have to say this place didn’t meet our expectations. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? Maybe it was a bad batch? I wouldn’t be coming back to find out. The lady behind the counter was VERY sweet tho!
I am so angry. My two kids and I went here after my 4 year old son’s first day of school. My husband took an extra thirty minutes for his lunch and we also had our 16 month old. They had no high chairs. We ordered from the kids menu for the kids and it was too spicy for them to eat. They brought the kids food fryer about a 45 minute wait. After an hour, my husband had to get back to work so I just asked for money and his meal to go. This was supposed to be a sweet celebratory meal but instead had me angry and I will under no circumstances be back. The least family friendly place in town.
10/10 would not recommend unless you plan on waiting an hour for food. A full hour…. As the restaurant was entirely empty upon ordering and sitting down, it filled entirely with customers after sitting for about 20 minutes.
