Probably my favorite restaurant in aspen. It leans more casual than others, you can get seating when others have a 1hr+ wait. The fajitas are top notch although expensive — our favorite was the steak one that has pineapple marinade. Also, the lobster quesadilla was world class
My girlfriend and I stumbled across this fine Mexican Restaurant when we were actually walking on our way to a different eatery. We decided to investigate the pleasant smells and cool vibes this 3rd level restaurant was giving off. Needless to say, the moment we walked in we decided there was no better place to eat than Las Montañas. We were beyond pleased with the service and food. Shubham R was our waiter and he was very kind and helpful and assisted us in navigating the menu and select the right meal. We shared the Steak Arrachera & Achiote Chicken Combo Fajitas. Our food and service were excellent, this place is a must stop and eat for anyone that passes through Aspen, CO. Thank you Shubham!
Las Montañas is an absolute must when you’re in Aspen. The atmosphere is vibrant and upscale without feeling pretentious, the service is top-tier, and every single dish we tried was packed with flavor. From the cocktails to the entrees, everything was beautifully presented and truly memorable. It’s the perfect spot for a fun night out or a special dinner. We’ll definitely be back!
Amazing service. Everything is extremely high quality. I must say I tried the best happy hour I’ve ever try with the best tacos ever and great flavors and drinks too. I even loved their music and restrooms.
Great patio and nice happy hour. Drinks were good but small for price. Wonderfully made toastodo chips with delicious salsas. Very friendly staff.
We had a wonderful dining experience at Las Montañas. The food was delicious and very filling, we got served tortilla chips and salsa on the house twice and our server Charles was very accommodating with our dietary preferences.
Hello, Mexican here 👋, This place is fantastic! I had the chilaquiles (added chicken), my wife had the chicken enchiladas with whole beans. Charles was an amazing waiter with an amazing attitude! They have a great selection of tequila and the bartenders are very friendly! We will definitely be back!
We ate lunch on the 4th of July at Las Montanas in Downtown Aspen and had a fabulous time. We showed up a little late to the reservation, but the front of the house was great at still accommodating us. The Mexican food here was spectacular. We all loved our meals, including the ice cream at the end. Needless to say, we will definitely be back. The whole experience was outstanding.
Sitting outside on the patio we had views of the hillside filled with the Fall golden Aspens. Food was delicious! Great service, colorful interior, a lovely place to be. Bartender Tim created a non-alcohol margarita with jalapeño for me which was fabulous!
Mexican food is great and the service is wonderful. The location is perfect. The best Mexican food I have had in a long time. The margaritas are too good. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was wonderful. Our waiter was attentive and professional, and he made sure that we had everything we needed. The location was perfect - it was close to all of the attractions you would want to see, and it had stunning views of the city and mountains. Overall, we had a fantastic experience at this restaurant, and we will definitely be back tThank you for everything!
Awesome ambiance, service and most importantly incredibly fresh, flavorful delicious food. Killer cocktails and impressive wine list if you so choose that route. Hit it twice this trip. Will be back every time. Highly recommend👌🏼
Saw the rooftop patio and had to try! Lilo was such an amazing server and gave us recommendations on drinks and food. Definitely recommend!!
It was a great place for a Friday night family dinner. The staff was helpful, drinks fun and food delicious.
My husband and I loved the dining experience tremendously! The ambience was lovely, the chairs were relaxing, and the ribeye fajita was SO DELICIOUS! Our waitress Briana took great care of us. We were thrilled to have her. Highly recommend this place and would go back in a heartbeat.
Let me start off by saying this is my first google review ever but this place blew me away! One of my best restaurant experience I have had in awhile. We were immediately greeted by such a friendly staff. We sat on the rooftop deck with beautiful views of the mountains. Our server Charlie was amazing. His voice was so calming and made the experience even better. The prices were average for the area and more reasonable than most restaurants near by. The margarita was delicious and can tell a lot of love went into making it. We shared the sizzling fajitas and it was so much food. Tortillas, chips, salsa, sides are all unlimited. So worth the money! The food was stellar. The ambiance was just a cherry on top to a great experience. If you are in Aspen looking for a nice restaurant, this is the restaurant to go to!!
Todd behind the bar was an incredible server! He was kind and he was always on top of making sure we had everything we needed. This was my second time going, and I really enjoyed the tamarind limeade, and the lamb roast. Truly divine food for a reasonable price considering Aspen! Update: KC the bartender takes my allergens seriously! He is so thoughtful and a great bar tender!
Los Montañas was a pleasant surprise. The food was solid, especially the steak fajita. The service was on point and very professional and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Definitely worth a Visit if you in the area.
The fajitas were fantastic and the atmosphere and service were excellent. I was skeptical because I live in Texas and out of state Mexican Food can be hit or miss but this was a definite hit.
So glad to had this restaurant in Aspen - the queso is amazing and everything else we tried was solid - I would recommend this to anyone having a craving for Mexican food
Great atmosphere and super friendly staff! The bathrooms are really clean. Definitely recommend!
THE VIEW IS UNBELIEVABLE Unbelievably yummy margaritas and fajitas I ordered the margs skinny not sweet and they were perfect The fajitas were so fresh and yummy
We had a great time! Delicious, cozy food and good drinks. Shubham was amazing! He was so attentive and great!
Wow!!!! Very high-end Mexican food!!!!! Incredibly tasty from start to finish. Salsa, guac, tortilla chips, & fajitas were all fantastic. Thank u Suraj for the excellent service.
The ambiance was extremely dark, making it difficult to see your food, which might not suit everyone. However, the food itself was outstanding and justified the high prices. The fajitas, in particular, were a highlight—they are served on a sizzling platter with an open flame, keeping them hot and flavorful throughout the meal. Overall, an impressive dining experience, especially for those who prioritize exceptional food over lighting.
Amazing meal!! We are from TX and are picky when it comes to Mexican food. Las Montanas was 5 stars! We ordered the No 1 Fajitas + shrimp and bacon wrapped quail - everything was delicious! Edgar was a great waiter and took exceptional care of us. We will definitely we back!
The best mexican food I've ever had... We arrived a bit early, so we sat with the nice bartender for some drinks, the cocktail was amazing (espresso martini) and some natchos with dips and guacamole with cheese But the food itself was amazing, we had the tuna and guacamole tartare and the beaf fajitas which were super amazing And also the flan desert was great The service was super fast and pleasant Highly recommended
This restaurant has excellent food (especially their enchiladas in my opinion.) Service was awesome, and the place was very clean too. Our waiter was very kind and helpful. We came here for my father's birthday and surprised him with chocolate mousse and flan. The flan was absolutely amazing and so was the chocolate.
We dined out at this place and must say that it is one of the best Mexican food that we have ever had. The server was very knowledgeable and explained in detail about all the dishes. 2 of us were pure vegetarian and they made out special dishes which tasted so good. This place is a must visit for anyone who likes Mexican food.
My wife and I came for lunch randomly. Food was really good. I love Mexican food and I have to say this place was up to par. To start we had the guacamole with homemade tortilla chips. And, for main we had the pineapple and soy glazed ribeye steak fajitas. Everything was great. I’ll come back for sure.
We had an incredible dining experience at this restaurant. Our server, Charlie, provided impeccable service, and his friendliness added to the enjoyment of our evening. The food was simply amazing, and we highly recommend trying their Caesar salad—it was absolutely delicious! Thank you, Charlie, for the exceptional customer service that made our visit truly memorable.
This is not your average Mexican restaurant. The atmosphere is so cozy and intimate, and the service is always fantastic. We were so pleased to have JT as our server again! He was so welcoming and his energy and knowledge gave us another incredible experience. The food here is truly on another level, outstanding and the recommendations were perfect. We recommend Montañas to any friends who visit Aspen.
This place blew me away. We got the green chile queso and the no.6 sizzling fajitas (steak and chicken) The queso was smooth and rich, my girlfriend(the queso connoisseur) said it was her all time favorite The fajitas were out of this world! The Proteins themselves were perfectly cooked and very juicy and flavorful. The steak could have stood alone and was one of the better steaks I've ever had. It's almost like going to a steakhouse in the sense they cook a whole cut and slice it perfectly and plate it on the sizzling hot skillet. What took these fajitas to the next level was the delicious Mexican cheese they mixed with the veggies. Since they keep the fajitas on a flame and hot, the cheese slowly griddles and adds a whole new level of texture and flavor. Pair all of this with real homemade tortillas that take me back to Mexico, and you have some of the best fajitas in Colorado PERIOD. What a lucky find i know for a fact I will stop in for fajitas every time I'm in aspen! Service was excellent as well! Thank you las montanas!!
First of all - JT was the best server I’ve ever had in my life. Made our experience so awesome. ALs the food is incredible. Always one of my favs in aspen. Get the fajitas
Very nice people. Great service and good food. Hats to find solid Mexican food in the mountain towns. Fajitas were great. Our server rahul was fantastic.
Las Montanas offers excellent food, with the tacos being particularly amazing. The queso was delicious as well. However, the service could use some improvement, as our cocktails took a while to arrive and ended up coming after our food was served. Despite this, the overall dining experience was enjoyable, thanks to the flavorful dishes. Highly recommend Las Montanas for the fantastic food.
Great spot to grab some happy hour tacos and drinks. The hostess was somewhat rude but the waiter was quite nice and friendly. Worth going there again.
Came here for an appetizer/drinks while waiting for a table at another restaurant. We were enticed by the rooftop umbrellas but the drinks and steak tacos were surprising good. A bit expensive for Mexican food (30 dollars for 2 tacos), but not completely out of line with other restaurants in the area.
Very good experience. Beautiful restaurant, great service, delicious cocktail list with some sophisticated twists on typical drinks. Only tried the guacamole and chicken fajitas, but the presentation and quality were good. Would go back.
The restaurant itself is nice and location is great since it’s in downtown Aspen. However, my order was wrong. It was our first time coming to this restaurant and we sat at the bar. Prices are a bit pricey, portions of the food are smaller for what you pay for. We initially ordered a beef fajita enchilada ($40) and received a tiny enchilada lol. When we received the bill, out bartender rang this up as a single enchilada ($11) instead of the entree. It wasn’t a big deal but wish there was more attention to detail… our bartender wasn’t attentive. We ended up going to another restaurant afterwards.
Service was very good, if a bit too much, the prices are Michelin star restaurant level but unfortunately the food isn't, it's okay Mexican food at the most. Ambience is great, decor is beautiful and location is perfect.
Design is nice but the Food is not tasty. Steak In Fajitas was like a gum. Fried beans like from the can 🤷🏼♀️ I asked about table next to railing but the waiter said that I can’t Becuase We are just 2 people. When I said to my friend about change the restaurant, waiter said that we can seat there.
Service was great !! The space has a beautiful vibe but in all honesty food was not all for the price especially being appetizers and not full meals we spent about $300 my kids ordered the rice bowl , the meat was over cooked to the point my daughter thought it was burnt , my shrimp taco was cold and my husband ordered a queso that was very watery , we ordered a $12 mini tuna tostada that was pretty decent but the portions for the price I would say a bit over priced , on the kids meals is definitely over price and the lemonade with tamarind was way sour …
This is a definite skip. Atmosphere was fun and the bar had a great vibe, but the food was mediocre at best and the prices were out of sight. We ordered the 14oz Ribeye Fajitas ($85) and you would think for that price it would be a luxury serving….it felt more like what would end up on your table from your local Chili’s Bar & Grill - and not in a good way. Also, the steak was so overcooked it was hard to eat. The manager did recognize this and re-fire the dish for us. So People and Atmosphere are great, but in my opinion, save your dollars and go anywhere else in Aspen in the same price point
We felt insulted by your off the top prices! We understand and accept the local prices of Aspen restaurants but your restaurant was unacceptable. We had the Chicken Enchiladas. So spicy we couldn't eat the three that were on our plates. No lettuce, tomatoes, onion or beans. If we wanted beans there was an extra cost. Your house Margaritas were maybe 6 oz at 15.00 a drink. Service was excellent.
Our server was great, besides for that everything was below standard. Paid 34 dollars for 2 tiny enchiladas. It came with a side of plain white rice with nothing added and watery refried beans. The worst Mexican food I’ve ever had, especially for the price.
We arrived a few minutes before 5pm in the hopes of ordering a few tacos on happy hour. When a server came by at exactly 5:01 (she checked her phone), she informed us that we could not order anything from the happy hour menu (and blamed the chef). We protested that we had been there before 5pm, but were denied happy hour ordering. The service was terrible afterwards, and they repeatedly forgot to bring things that were ordered. Spend your money elsewhere.
very spicy food the guacamole was unedible too many jalapenos peppers peppers
We visit here often to eat. We recently walked in at 2pm to have some drinks at the bar. When we went to sit down at the bar (there were 8 open seats), the hostess says to us "Sorry we can't seat you without a reservation." I said "Even at the bar?" She said "Yes. Sorry you can make a reservation and come back later." Needless to say, we won't be coming back.
We asked if our small dog would be able to come in with us if we ate outside, and the host said it wasn’t allowed by law if she’s not a service dog. Firstly, that is not true. It is absolutely legal if they are outside and is decided at the restaurant’s discretion. That’s fine if they say no for that reason, but please don’t be dishonest and claim it’s law, particularly when the other restaurants on the same street allow them as we discovered after. Secondly, after asking if she was a service animal, we said yes because in Spain where we live, an emotional support animal is considered a service animal. She aids her when she has panic attacks. The host proceeded to then ask my girlfriend what disability the dog helps her with, which is prohibited by law to ask. If he had even just gone about it in a less aggressive way, it may not have bothered us much. Unfortunately, that was not the case and it made my girlfriend very uncomfortable.
Well, we would have had a great experience. It was my birthday and headed here before a concert. A coke was spilled on my new coat and purse, which isn’t normally a big deal but it ruined the coat and the management said they’d only cover the dry cleaning but Not the check. This isn’t a sports bar in the Bronx. It’s Aspen. Doug (manager) took forever to even approach us, only when my husband asked. He weaseled out of it like it wasn’t anyone’s fault. Grow a pair
