Tasty and authentic Greek souvlaki! Fresh flavors, juicy meat, and friendly service, a great spot to enjoy Greek food. 🇬🇷 highly recommended!
Absolutely exceptional! Nikos Souvlaki delivered an outstanding experience from start to finish. The food was fresh and flavorful, and the service was warm and attentive. Big congrats to the entire team—from the server to the kitchen and the owner. Astoria is known for its great greek food but Nikos Souvlaki stands out. Highly recommend to anyone looking for genuine hospitality and delicious meals!
A very nice spot near Astoria park outdoor dining was only available but I had no complaints it was a nice day outside. I ordered the chicken gyro platter and I was shocked how much food came with the price of $19.50 I could barely finish the plate too the rest home. The staff was polite and inventive of our needs to make sure we enjoyed our meal. My friends and I are trying to make this our friday lunch spot after work. Went again to try the wraps very messy but delicious.
Some of the best gyro and souvlaki in the city. Portions are huge and great value if you share them. The $16 lunch plates available before 2pm are a especially good value
The most authentic Greek souvlaki spot in Astoria! Pro tip: They are also a fantastic catering solution; their skewers are always a hit!
This place was great. Service and food were amazing. Portions are huge. The place was clean and welcoming. 1000% recommend!
Delicious and authentic! There’s a bunch of Greek places in Astoria but this is one of my new favorites. Prices were not bad at all for the quality and portions. All staff were welcoming. I think our host needed some help though, gets pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon. The setting is casual, seat yourself, and then someone will take your order from there. Credit Card Payments are charged 4% - pay with cash!
The chicken gyros here are amazing! Our waiter victor was great! He made sure we were trying their best dishes!
Absolutely amazing food !!!! Best Greek food in NYC, def worth trying their platters. Delicious flavor generous portions !!! Nice and very clean place ,coming back soon
Delicious comfy and overly cozy. Personally one of those places you can remember pleasantly over and over again, couldn’t imagine how craftsmanship was on their food and satisfied with. For those who like casual good quality Greek food this is the place can’t give more higher ratings. I had the pork gyro and chicken stick with the extraordinary Tzatziki sauce and that spiced pita bread amazing… chocolate baklava as final touch!
This place is AMAZING!!! Everything here is delicious, I come here a lot with my family and we all absolutely love the food, the atmosphere, and the service is exceptional! They make you feel like you are right at home, so cozy and so welcoming! The food platters are very big portions and for the price, it’s perfect!!! The location is also very cute right by Astoria park! We absolutely love it here 10/10 recommend!!!!
I tried the Skepasti sandwich and it was excellent juicy, flavorful, and really filling. The ingredients felt fresh and well-balanced. On top of that, Viktor’s service was spot-on: friendly, fast, and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. Definitely something I’d recommend!
Came for the Skepasti, was not disappointed. This is a pretty nice Greek spot, not that far from Astoria park and not a far walk from the ditmars subway. Went late on a Saturday night, service was great and host was really nice. Clean ambiance and great Greek food. That Skepasti was huge, couldn’t finish it in one sitting but well worth the adventure.
Niko’s is the real deal for authentic no frills Greek food. The pita bread is custom made by Niko. Huge portions for platters
Solid spot! Meats and veggies always fresh. Bacon wrapped chicken souvlaki is my go-to. Always better to eat in but delivery is fast.
Really taken by surprise by this place. Very unassuming, tucked away in a quiet part of Astoria. The pita is great, surprisingly soft and fresh. The pork was delicious. I wish there was more salad in my platter but who doesn’t love fries! Service was so friendly! We felt very taken care of! Thank you Nikos!
We ordered from here a few times and we finally got to visit in person. The food was so fresh, service was super quick and the staff were so friendly! Highly recommend, we will be going back!
my wife and i had some delicious food at nikos souvaki. The food was as delicious as i expected and the service was amazing. The waiter victor offered us an amazing service and i would definitely come back to this place.
Our absolute favorite souvlaki place in NYC — and there is a lot of competition around! We’ve been to Niko’s at least a dozen times and always, always had an absolutely great experience. Food is always fresh, tasty, and in great portions. We’ve had the pitas several times — mostly chicken and pork gyros, and they are fantastic. The gyros and souvlaki plates are pretty great too, and absolutely huge. The lamb chops are always freshly grilled and super tasty, though admittedly on the pricey end of the spectrum. Service is always friendly and attentive, including by the owner, Nikos, himself. The vibe is relaxed and friendly, and never too crowded. There is plenty of outdoor seating, which is great especially in good weather. Bottom line — big fans!
Going to Nikos is never disappointing. The food is very authentic, not overseasoned and made with a lot of love. The staff is quick and super friendly. Rosi is the best! This place is like our second living room. Prices are almost to cheap for the quality and size of the dishes. You need to order the special sunday roast or the special pork sausage. Incredible!
New restaurant, opened at the start of the pandemic back in March. It is still open and that proves how good the food is. Food 5/5 DELICIOUS! Owner is from Greek from Greece. Family recipe. Comparable to the ones I had in Athens. The beef patties are mouth watering good. Very big portion, very value for money. The semolina cake with syrup was the perfect way to wrap up the meal Service 5/5 The owner and staff are so friendly and personal. Throughout the duration of the meal, we saw so many returning regular customers and they remember their favorite orders. Everyone is wearing a mask and practicing Covid Protocols Ambiance 5/5 Bright and clean inside and nicely set up covered outdoor sitting too. Ceiling heater for the cooler weather. Must eat, must try if you’re in Ditmars
Came here for an evening dinner with my husband because I was missing Greece and the place was so nicely decorated, like a Greek island. We were originally going to order gyros, but then Niko shared the special, which was a stuffed chicken with bacon, peppers, and feta on top of a mountain of Greek-seasoned French Fries with pita and salad on the side. The food was incredible with a fast delivery and Niko was so friendly and kind to us. We had a nice conversation and I felt like I was in Greece again. Thank you, Niko, for providing 10 star services!
10/10. I never pass up getting food from here! The food is well seasoned, proportioned and so delicious! I’ve had a lot of Greek food but this is the best one I’ve had. Everytime im visiting astoria i will try to get it, Even when my family from Florida comes out to NYC they request this! Big kudos to the Chef Dimitri!! 👏🏽
We came here after a workout at Astoria Park. It’s within walking distance, so it was really easy to get to. Our group got two pork gyro platters and one pork gyro pita. The pork gyro is the best we’ve all had! The meat was crispy and very juicy. The food was very good and flavorful and the portions were very generous! The owner and staff are very friendly and we’ll definitely visit again when we’re in the area. We’re really happy we found this place when we were looking for a place for dinner.
Absolutely delicious authentic Greek food. There’s a slow roasted pork special on the weekends that melts in your mouth and perfect to share. The fries are so fresh and crispy and the veggies are super fresh too. Can’t wait to go back!
This souvlaki joint offers an impeccable dining experience. From the deliciously flavorful souvlaki to the refreshing ambiance, every aspect is perfect. The service, led by Nikos and the staff, is outstanding, and the cleanliness is top-notch. A must-visit for anyone craving authentic Greek cuisine served with excellence. I highly recommend this place for eating with friends and family
Nikos delivers the best Greek food I’ve ever tasted hands down! The service was warm, attentive, and lightning-fast, while every dish exploded with authentic flavors that fully lived up to the massive hype. A must-visit gem!
I’ve had a lot of Greek food in my life and plenty of Gyros’ and this place hit the spot. The meat was perfect and tasted so good. Literally like I was having a Gyros in Athens or the Greek islands. The service was excellent and I highly recommend this place if you are in New York/Astoria or nearby and want Greek food.
Yum! First time in NYC and a friend recommended this place. Did not disappoint. He told me that his cousin was raised in Greece and this is the closes souvlaki there is to it! Deff recommend :)
Been to this place many times and they never disappoint! They give you generous portions of food for a great price. Worth trying if you want to experience the Greek cuisines of Astoria!
Discover a slice of Greece in Astoria at Niko Souvlaki, where the flavors are as authentic as it gets. I dove into the chicken and pork souvlaki sticks, each paired with its unique sauce – tzatiki and mustard mayo – served alongside fluffy pita. The meat? Tender, perfectly cooked, and seasoned just right. The whole place exudes a cute charm with a nice atmosphere. Niko Souvlaki is a delightful escape to the tastes and vibes of Greece right in Astoria.
Amazing authentic Greek food for a fair price! Plus the staff were friendly and the overall vibe was great. Next time I’m in Astoria I’ll be back for sure!
Delicious food, kind service, nice outdoor area. I got the chicken gyro ($12.00 before tax) which was very flavoursome. The marinated chicken and pita could stand alone with their delicious flavour profile. The whole gyro came fresh and hot... hot fires, chicken and pita. This tied well with the bites of tomato, lettuce and Niko's sauce which totally tied the dish together. Server was very kind and gentle. Atmosphere and seating area is very clean and easy on the eyes. Plenty of different seating options. Would recommend to anyone wanting quality greek food.
I had one of the best chicken gyros at Niko’s! Whenever I miss authentic Greek food I come here. Their food is seasoned so well and you can tell they really care to make their customers happy. I’ve recommended this spot to a few friends and they’ve all been satisfied.
After taking a stroll in Astoria Park, I stumbled upon Niko’s Souvlaki, and it deserves all the appreciation and recognition. This super cute restaurant offers incredibly warm service, and the food is simply mind-blowing. The Chicken Gyro was the best I’ve ever had, and everything we ordered was amazing. We also tried the Greek wine, which was absolutely delicious. Niko’s Souvlaki boasts plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, making it a great spot for any weather. I highly recommend this place to everyone. If you can’t visit in person, definitely consider ordering from here!
I had an amazing experience at Nikos Souvlaki. I ordered a gyro and it was absolutely delicious, truly authentic Greek flavor. The service was incredible, especially from Víctor. We arrived super late on a Tuesday and they still welcomed us with so much kindness. Great food, great service. Highly recommended
It was my first time eating at this local restaurant. It’s a quaint little place tucked away near Astoria Park. Rosie was our waitress and she made the experience there so much better. Her timing with following up with us was so nice. She made great recommendations and has a great sense of humor. The food was beyond my expectation and the team seems to work pretty well under pressure bc it was extremely busy and we were in and out really quick. Definitely can’t wait to go again.
Such delicious food! My friend Taera and I went here for the first time earlier this evening and it was wonderful. Kind staff, large portions, and a clean restaurant! They even gave us dessert for free since it was our first time there. We were so excited! We will definitely be back.
The food is very good and feels authentically Greek. Service is excellent—friendly and attentive. Prices are more than fair, and portions are generous. The ambiance is cozy, and I especially liked the abundant natural light from the large windows. I’d definitely go back. Highly recommended.
My boyfriend and I visit Niko’s in Astoria constantly, and it has truly become our favorite spot in the neighborhood. The food is consistently amazing—always fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. What really keeps us coming back, however, is the service. A massive shoutout to Victor for always going above and beyond to take care of us. If you are looking for authentic Greek food and a welcoming atmosphere, this is the place!!!
I lived here almost all my life and this by far is one of the best Greek spots in Astoria, service is amazing food is top tier and price is great ! My favorite is anything pork or with meat , literally melts in your mouth and is so well combined when you add all the condiments veggies and pitta along with it ! Greek salad didn’t disappoint I love a great salad that has lots of feta, the second time I went I got the special which was some sort of pork wrapped with bacon, cheese and peppers recommended by the waitress and wow !!! I trusted this waitress with my life after that and asked for a dessert recommendation and we got the orange cake. The texture was literally perfect and like something I never tasted before.
The food was delicious. I grew up in Astoria so I know my Greek food! The service was exemplary! We were so surprised that we didn’t have to wait long for our meal and it was so fresh and so savory! The owner introduced himself and he’s really very kind. This is just what we needed on a Friday night in Astoria—delicious Greek food! We also ordered bifteki and pork skewers but forgot to take pictures because we ate them so quickly! The tzatziki tasted like it was homemade. A really great all round experience! You have to visit!
Stop what you’re doing… come here and eat! This place is superbly clean, the staff is really friendly and welcoming. The portion sizes are insane. This is the best price point for the amount of food you get. They have the best lunch special in town. You can eat like a king here and get welcomed like one too. I will definitely return. This place is worth a drive! Food: 5 | Service: 5 | Atmosphere: 5 Seating type:they have a large indoor and outdoor seating areas Vegetarian options: they have some vegetarian options Dietary restrictions: staff is friendly and accommodating Parking space: there is street parking Parking options:street parking only Kid-friendliness: my kid would love this place Wheelchair accessibility: this establishment is wheelchair accessible
My friends and I came to NY from MA for the weekend. Our heritage being Greek, we wanted to come to Astoria to feel a little at home. We stopped at Niko’s Souvlaki after it being recommended the best gyro in the area. The recommendation was not wrong. We ordered several appetizers, souvlakia, gyros, and gyro platters. Everything was so delicious and authentic; better than anything we’ve had in MA and even from some places in Greece. The space was nice and cozy. Our waiter (possibly Niko?) was super friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend Niko’s Souvlaki if you’re in the area and looking for an authentic Greek meal!
Stopped by with my wife after picking up 5 barrels of extra virgin olive oil shipped from Greece. Niko our host was gracious and quite efficient, we ordered 2 yeeros and a horiatiko salad. We were in Greece this summer and these yeeros were equal if not better, they didn't have as much h meat as Greece but they were seasoned much better and the tzatziki was the best I've ever had and this is coming from someone that had 4 restaurants. We also had the horiatiko salad which was filled with fresh crispy vegetables but no extra virgin olive oil like Greece and a very small sliver of feta, for the money triple the feta and use extra virgin olive and some fresh bread. But overall Bravo sas
This spot is a hidden gem in Astoria the dishes are amazing the meats are well seasoned and have a great flavor. The veggies are grilled perfect with hints of spices. The Greek salad was delicious the feta cheese was so tasty. The lemon potatoes where amazing. Now if you want to sample all the delicious proteins try the Small mix Grill a plate of meat seasoned to perfection grilled and layed on some seasoned pita bread with grilled veggies and delicious red onions. The plate is for about 3or 4 people and it really comes loaded. Chase that down with a ICE COLD MYTHOS BEER. The sauces are great there a Greek spicy cheese sauce, nikos sauce,Tzatziki sauce for dipping all your choices of meats. Service was Great portions where Generous as well. Lots of leftover food for the road. Stop in and enjoy the food and the calm quite ambiance.
I’ve been coming here since it first opened. This is by far the BEST Greek souvlaki and gyro spot in Astoria. It’s 100% on the authenticity scale. Even the pita bread they use is imported directly from Greece. And if you are a Greek American like me you know the difference between Greek pita from America and actual Greek pita from Greece. The owner Niko is also extremely hands on and he’s always sure to introduce himself while also working the store. The hospitality, the embrace of the community and the attention to detail and quality is something they have mastered. Some of their highlights are the pork souvlaki sticks, the gyro, the lamb chops and their classic cabbage salad. And don’t skip on their portokalopita (orange sponge cake).
Niko's Souvlaki is an excellent place serving original Greek gyros! Service is very friendly and Nikos (the owner) is kind and warm! Their portions are very big and everything we tasted reminds original Greek flavors. I grew up in Greece and I've been in the U.S. for 3 years, but I've never tasted such an amazing homemade gyros and fresh, pure ingredients anywhere else in Souvlaki stores in the states. They even make homemade gyros which doesn't happen even in stores in Greece. I've had "Skepasti" and "Tzatziki" and they're solid! I hugely recommend this place if you want to taste traditional Greek flavors in low prices. Great value for money!
Niko is the best. We had lunch here last Sunday and ordered the Mixed spreads (lots of pita and 3 incredible dipping options) + the Big Mixed Grill Platter for our group of 4. We also added a carafe of white wine since it was raining out and you know...sunday funday. The portions are great and evey meat in the platter was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend your crew try that combo!
Excellent Pork Gyro - fatty and crunch at the same time. Couldn’t stop eating it. Excellent fries also -crunchy and pillowy soft, perfectly salted. Prasini salad could’ve had more flavor Greek beer and house wine. Everything reasonably priced and huge portions. Thicker tzatziki, excellent flavor. Really pairs with the fries. Will definitely be back to try the skewers.
We got the chicken and veggie pita wraps. They were average. Have had better. The Greek fries lacked seasoning.
Good, friendly, attentive service. The food was very good, generous portions, good presentation. Overall, I would recommend this establishment and I may return in the future. There were a couple things that what would have been 5* turned into 4*. The meal I ordered came first, while the rest of the meals for the family came afterwards in waves. In the time waiting for the rest of the meals to arrive, my meal had become rather cold. Perhaps due to being only one person in the kitchen and one waitress. There was another person setting up the tables, (busboy), don't believe he was also a waiter/server. Another negative was the extra charge placed on credit/debit purchases. That has been a deal breaker for me in the past, whereby at times I would avoid returning to the same establishment. The sign regarding this was only by the cash register, so one has no idea prior. Also, when the bill was brought to the table, the charge was already on it. Our intention might have been to pay in cash, how could anyone have known? Unless it gets removed upon going to the cash register.
Niko’s Souvlaki sits right on Ditmars & 21st, and let me just say, if you’re craving a classic gyro, this place delivers. The food is solid, the portions are generous, and the menu is stacked with Mediterranean staples. If you’re a hardcore Greek food lover, go ahead and explore, but if you’re like me, just grab the gyro and you’ll be set. Now, the not so cute part? Occasionally, you might find some “bonus ingredients.” I’m talking hair, or little kitchen wrappings hiding in your pita like surprise party favors nobody asked for. Gross, yes. But I spoke up, and to their credit, they quickly remade it for me. (Pro tip: don’t stay quiet, tell them. Trust me, they’d rather fix it than have your review do the talking.) The vibe here is what I like to call chaotic European family energy. The staff can come off a little sharp around the edges, but that’s not shade, it’s culture. As someone with a Balkan background, I get it. It’s fast, loud, hectic, and sometimes feels like you’re stepping into someone’s extended family reunion. Don’t take it personal; it’s just the style. Prices have definitely gone up thanks to inflation (RIP the days of a $10 gyro, now it’s $12–14 depending on your add-ons), but to be fair, the portions are hefty enough that you don’t feel robbed. Think of it like: yes, your wallet’s a little lighter, but at least your stomach’s very full. Overall: tasty food, a bit of chaos, and a gyro that still hits every time.. just maybe double-check for “bonus toppings” before you dig in.
I dropped in after visiting a few friends in the neighborhood. The restaurant is in a desirable area, with plenty of outdoor seating. The owner/manager was a gentleman who greeted me upon arrival and was tentative. I very much enjoyed chicken souvlaki with a scrumptious salad that was popping with freshness and flavor. The inside dining area was cozy and promoted an excellent experience. I would highly recommend this eatery. Enjoy.
Strolling past Niko Souvlaki on a casual evening wander, I didn’t expect to stumble into a culinary Greek hug—but that’s exactly what happened. This spot doesn’t whisper “maybe try me”, it shouts “you’re gonna want me.” I ordered the chicken souvlaki platter on a whim, expecting something modest. Instead, I was handed a dish so generously portioned it looked like it was cooked by a Greek grandma with strong opinions about portion control. And let me tell you—every bite slapped. Succulent chicken, vibrant sides, and just the right seasoning to make your taste buds throw a plate-smashing celebration. Not only did it satisfy a craving, it left me planning my next Mediterranean detour. If you’re in the mood for hearty comfort food that’s equal parts flavor and generosity, this is the spot.
I don't eat meat and I was excited to try their veggie pita when I saw it has oyster mushrooms in it. I kept biting and biting to find the mushrooms, to no avail. Then I asked the waitress, she comes back and tells me that they were out of mushrooms....how convenient. $12 for a pita with two slices of zucchini, two slices of eggplant, french fries and tomato...No.
I will start by saying the service was good and they were nice. The prices are fair compared to other places. I got the pork gyro platter and the pork was SUPER salty. I was disappointed because I wanted to like it.
The pork gyro tasted like fish, more so at the end of the gyro, which, to me, could mean the cook stuffed the cross contaminated/bad quality meat in the back to try to hide it. Otherwise, the place was alright! Service was great. Atmosphere is decent. But the food was mediocre enough where I felt like mentioning it. Paid $12 for a pork gyro/soda lunch combo.
Actually was very disappointed with this restaurant, It's supposed to be a Greek restaurant but they're not serving Greek Gyros, typically Gyro meat consists of lamb or a combination of lamb, beef and pork with particular spices on a rotisserie, what they serve isn't that at all they basically serve rotisserie pork chops and call it Gyros... food was mediocre everyone in my party complained about their food being disappointing... I gave 2 stars for the staff, the were excellent very attentive and went above and beyond to make sure everyone in my party was taken care of.
Im so conflicted because I think their food is good, but 3 years in a row their health inspection record shows mice and roaches. How can they care about their customers or food if they dont fix this problem??
The portions were generous and the food was decent, though the meat was on the dry side. However, what truly ruined the experience was the service. Our server had an incredibly unpleasant attitude—I’ve never been treated so poorly at a restaurant. She was unwilling to explain the menu, tossed the check at us without a word, and made us feel completely unwelcome, as if serving us was a burden. It was an extremely uncomfortable and disappointing experience. I won’t be returning—an absolute horror story from start to finish.
