I recently had the pleasure of celebrating my brother's birthday at Chops & Lobster Bar in Atlanta, and we were thoroughly impressed by the exceptional dining experience. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was lively and inviting, setting the tone for a memorable evening. The real stars of the show, however, were the dishes that arrived at our table. The steak was cooked to perfection, with a tender texture and rich flavor that simply melted in our mouths. The lobster was equally impressive, with succulent chunks of meat that were expertly prepared and full of flavor. And the shrimp? Absolutely divine. What truly stood out was the attention to detail and care that seemed to go into every aspect of our meal. Every dish was expertly presented and bursting with flavor, leaving us feeling satisfied and indulged. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just looking for an upscale dining experience, Chops & Lobster Bar is an excellent choice. Highly recommended, and we'll definitely be back!
Went recently for a family Birthday Dinner. The service and atmosphere are phenomenal, and the food is wonderful. I would give the food a 4.999 out of 5 stars. Two of the steaks came out a little more medium well than medium (but were still wonderful to eat) and one was closer to medium rare (but she didn’t even realize until someone else pointed it out). The Thai Chili Rhode Island Calamari is a must get appetizer. The sauce is the star of the show with phenomenal flavor without too much heat. The Maryland Lump Crab Cake Cocktail was also a huge hit. Finally, the texture and flavor on the Hawaii Sushi Grade Ahi Tuna Tartar was just amazing. The steaks and lobster tails were cooked and seasoned wonderfully. Having the warm butter to dip just elevated the entire meal. Side dishes: The Grilled Jumbo Asparagus was good. It was cooked perfectly to al dente, but had no grill marks, char or seasoning just lacked flavor. The Hashed Potato Tots were as expected AMAZING, and the Brussels Sprouts and Mushrooms were so full of flavor you did not need to overeat. The wine and beverage selection was spot on, and the cocktails were made extremely well. The wait staff were wonderful, courteous and caring, you never had to wait for anything.
Chops Lobster Bar (Private Members Only) — and let me just say… I wasn’t a member, but I was a very lucky guest. After this experience, I’m officially convinced I need to become a member. We went on New Year’s Eve, which already sets the tone, but the entrance alone? Top-tier. You walk in through a speakeasy-style door straight through the kitchen — instantly makes you feel like you’re in on something special. The staff greeted my dinner partner by first and last name (he’s been a member for over 20 years), and that level of recognition says everything. We didn’t get his usual table — affectionately called “Ray Charles” — but honestly, the table we had was perfectly fine. A girlfriend joined us, and the night flowed effortlessly from there. Now… the food 😮🔥 We started with the filet mignon and lobster bites — crave-worthy from the first bite. Then the tuna tartare, which was fresh and clean; I just wished it came with a thin chip or cracker for dipping to add a little texture. I had the lobster bisque (rich, comforting, and done right) and the crab cake — solid and flavorful. He ordered the ribeye with fries, cooked beautifully. She went with the sea bass, paired with Brussels sprouts and lobster mac & cheese — a winning combo across the board. The drinks were amazing, and Emily? Absolutely dope. I’ve never seen her without a smile, and her energy made the experience even better. Between the service, the atmosphere, and the attention to detail, this place delivers an experience, not just a meal. I can’t wait to come back — hopefully next time as a member. P.S. 👀 Let’s just say… there were a few cuties in the room, ladies included. The vibe was vibing. 🍸✨
We have celebrated so many milestones at Chops Lobster Bar birthdays, anniversaries, you name it and every single time has been nothing short of amazing. From the moment you walk through the door, you sense this is a place where special moments belong. The food is extraordinary. On multiple occasions, I’ve ordered the wagyu steak and lobster (medium well), and each time it was cooked to perfection rich, tender, flavorful, beautifully presented. The seafood is flown in fresh, the cuts of beef are exceptional, and the menu strikes the perfect balance between elegance and indulgence. The service is exquisite. The team is attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in making your experience memorable. One particularly touching moment: for our anniversary, I had flowers delivered ahead of time. The restaurant held them and then arranged to have them brought to our table while we were dining. That sort of personal touch made the evening even more special. Parking is convenient thanks to valet service right out front. While I prefer to rely on the valet to avoid the hassle, you can also find your way via Google Maps it guides you directly to their address in Buckhead. In short: Chops Lobster Bar remains my go-to for celebrating life’s milestones. Whether it’s an anniversary or a birthday, the ambiance, the food, the attention to detail everything comes together perfectly. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a truly memorable fine-dining experience.
Chops Lobster Bar in Buckhead was an awesome experience. The vibe is upscale but still laid-back and comfortable, not stiff or overly fancy. Perfect spot for a nice dinner without feeling out of place. The food was on point. Everything tasted fresh and was cooked perfectly, especially the seafood and steaks. The drinks were just as good as the food. Service was great—friendly, attentive, and never rushed. The staff really knows what they’re doing and makes sure you’re taken care of the whole time. Overall, great food, great service, and a solid atmosphere. Definitely a place I’d recommend and will be going back to.
Tyrique and Hector took wonderful care of us! The steak and fried lobster tail were exquisite! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
The food was amazing. The service was fantastic. Portions were large.
Excellent fine ding experience. I took my daughter here for their birthday. The restaurant was dimly lit and had a nice ambiance. The hostess was friendly and the wait staff was great. I felt like I had my own personal waiter. The food was amazing. Had the crab cake appetizer and the lobster fritter. For my entree I had the black diamond ribeye with the lobster tail and broccolini. Lobster came fried but opted out for grilled. Rib eye temperature was perfect and it was seasoned to the bone. Lobster was dense and fresh tasting. It was pricey. My daughter and I ran up a $500 dollar bill for the two of us but it was worth it.
This was awesome The food was delicious. They put a slight spin on all the classics. The service was too notch and we felt very special.
One word exquisite, upscale, top of the line. The staff was very professional and courteous. Just a marvelous place to have an anniversary dinner or for a special occasion.
This place is on my top places to eat. My husband and I came here for our 10th anniversary celebration. Service is absolutely impeccable!! The staff is very well trained and are premier professionals. (Ask for Tarik) The manager was very friendly and personable. Would recommend this for any occasion. Every single thing we ate was phenomenal. If our bill was $400 or more we wouldn’t have cared, lol. Everything was delicious and try the octopus app, bread pudding, the Gouda Mac n cheese 🤤. Cannot wait to return!
There are other fine dining restaurants in ATL and then there is Chops & Lobster Bar. The place looks like it commands order but I wasn’t here to play by the rules. I turned this fine steakhouse into my own personal tapas restaurant because I like to try it all. We started with a Greek salad, then came the octopus, then the fried lobster. And yes, I ordered the mac & cheese because I’m 7. Oh and the no filler brilliant crab cakes. Chops may be for the serious steak crowd, but we got it on track! It’s now headed in the right direction.
The experience was a 10/10! Excellent service! The lobster and steak had wonderful flavor! The absolute best. Our waiter Felix was amazing, pleasant, and very nice to talk to. We were celebrating our anniversary and he was super amazing! We will return!
Superb dining experience. Friendly and helpful staff. Asked a random waiter where the rest room was and he walked to the restroom. They brush the crumbs off your table. Loved every minute!! I got the lamb chops: Succulent and juicy! Not cheap.
My wife and I had dinner last night here and the best word to sum up our experience is "fantastic"! The food, service and staff were all 5 star! One of the best restaurant experiences we have ever had! Thanks to Derrick, Frank, Jordy, Hector, Sadie, et al for a great evening!
Ribeye was a 7 our of 10. I was expecting a set of flavors to blow my mind. The portion was skinny for a portion of 2. The appetizers were great. The octopus cooked to perfection, the crab meet was excellent. The wine selection is rich and extensive. Need a bit more italian wines. Enjoy
Everything was good. I had a grilled and fried lobster tail with broccoli and mashed potatoes. Also, I had a crab cake for an appetizer. Waiter forgot to bring me my dine rewards card for October, so I have to call back. I was enjoying my company so much that I forgot to remind him that he did not bring the card out. Will not park valet again. Not happy with service.
Service was great. Tamer was our server. Food - good but the bake potato was overdone. Probably because we dined late. Spilt a 12 oz filet. My medium was perfect. My wife’s med well was torched 👎. Good cosmos. Good pours on my Scotch 👍. Table side spinach salad was prepared well. Ran out of all but one bread option. Regardless, good experience overall.
I was a long time Chops fan. I only had a few hiccups dining there in the last 15 yrs. Last night my food was extremely salty. My husband’s food was burnt and he was disappointed. The waiter even committed on my food. So, he knew. Sorry , Chops I can’t spend $150 plus on mediocre food and Bland atmosphere Something has changed there. It’s not a pleasant experience anymore. Again Chops was my all time Favorite Restaurant in Atlanta.
I am disappointed in my recent experience at Chops. While the food was great, the overall experience left something to be desired. My wife and I got a rare date night and decided to use it by coming into Atlanta. I used to frequent Chops when I lived closer and wanted to share the experience with my wife. We booked the first available reservation because of plans for a show later in the night and arrived 10 minutes early for our 5:30pm reservation. We were greeted by a less than enthusiastic hostess who sent us away. We came back at 5:28 and she barely looked at us until the clock hit 5:31. We witnessed another couple as well that was asked to step outside the door. Our waiter was attentive and the food was good. I would say however the staff did not appear generally enthusiastic as I remember. The hostess again seemed bothered by us on the way out when I asked for change for the valet, responding with short, snippy answers. I just expected to feel a bit more welcome at one of the original pano and pauls restaurants. To spend so much money in such a short period of time and for it to have been our only date night in six months, it was rather disappointing. In the past, I have always remembered Chops and Lobster Bar as such a memorable experience, with host staff and wait stuff that were fun and welcoming. It is important to not just have great food and delicacies, but also to put your best foot forward so that guests feel relaxed and that was not our experience. We do not mind waiting at all, but would have preferred a friendlier staff to part with $400 in 1 hour. Atlanta is much different than it was in 1996 and there are a plethora of upscale steak and seafood restaurants to choose from, but I certainly hope Chops revives their historic dining experience.
