This place is really special and provides an amazing experience, perfect for special occasion or just for romantic night. Every dish was made with so much attention to details, was tasty and full of flavor. We took the westside Sushi roll, the wagyu temaki, crudo flight, nigiri of yellowtail and red tuna, the marbled forest Hakozushi and edamame with truffle salt. Everything was delicious and provides a great variety. The service was very attentive and welcoming and our waitress helped us a lot with making decision according to our preferences.
From the incredible menu to the thoughtful welcome dish, O-Ku truly does everything right. This restaurant delivers some of the best hospitality and food in all of Atlanta. The toro spoons were beautifully crafted and absolutely delicious, and the signature nigiri flight was unforgettable — every piece was rich in flavor and clearly made with care. The fish was incredibly fresh and buttery, and the grilled calamari was perfectly tender with a great char and a flavorful, tangy hot sauce. The standout drink of the night was the Japanese A5 Old Fashioned — smooth, balanced, and packed with depth. This was truly one of the best dining experiences of my life, and if you love sushi, O-Ku is an absolute must-visit.
Phenomenal. I spoke to Christy (Manager) about how in awe I was of our amazing experience. 3 friends and I came in to celebrate a birthday and as someone who has eaten at many atlanta staples, I see that this is something special. Not only was everything, and I mean everything delicious, the service was top-notch, attentive, personable, polite. I literally wanted to invite our servers Ruth and Arsemma to come eat with us. The Sampler crudo was the BEST crudo i’ve had in a. long time and I’m half fish so you can believe me when i say that. The menu is so tastefully made. Many places will have too much in a dish, but they reuse staple ingredients in different ways. This is the kind of place where I don’t mind adding things to the bill, because I know I had an experience not just a meal.
My sister has been begging me to try this place for a while, and I am SO glad I finally did. We were here for a farewell party for a friend that’s moving out of country, and Ok-u made the occasion feel so tailored and so so special. Allena was our server and she was PHENOMENAL. Super attentive, hilarious, not overbearing at all, and exceptional menu knowledge. Honestly, she’s one of the best servers I’ve had at any restaurant!! The restaurant did special menus for the party, the manager came and checked on us a couple times, Allena brought out a complimentary dessert for us - everything just felt really personalized and genuine. The food was no less - probably the best sushi I’ve had in the Atlanta area (and we eat a lot of sushi!) Only docked points from atmosphere because it was pretty loud. People were clearly enjoying themselves, we just generally visit quieter restaurants in the suburbs. Having said that, I will happily be driving an hour each way to eat here again!!!
Visiting Atlanta, met a friend who lives here on a Sunday night. Allena was one of the best servers I’ve ever had, hands-down…and I have worked industry for 11 yrs. She gave spot-on recommendations, was attentive, but not overbearing, so pleasant & adorable. She was training someone else, but managed to look after our table with so much attention & care. I’m only in town til Wed, and already want to bring my co-worker & friends here!
Had a great experience at O-Ku on a Friday night. I arrived right at 5pm, when they were supposed to open, but the doors were locked. They let me in at 5:02 and were super apologetic about the "delay". It really was not an issue for me at all (it was literally 2 min) but the hostess, server, and assistant manager all came to apologize. They offered a free crudo and comp'd one of my drinks. That was not necessary but appreciated. The food was GREAT. EXCELLENT experience all the way around.
I booked this restaurant for my birthday and it was the most perfect experience ever. I loved both our bartender who kept my boyfriend and i company while we waited for the remainder of my party. Our server was extremely friendly, attentive and explained the menu to a few of my guests who were new to japanese cuisine. I will definitely be back soon!
Amazing food, service, and atmosphere! Everything was lovely from the sake, to the caviar, to the sushi rolls. We sat upstairs on the patio and the bartender and server was great. My favorite was the Soft-Shell Spider Roll. Also, they have valet and it’s $5. I will be returning in the future!
My mother and I enjoyed lunch here today. Ling was our wonderful server. She gave recommendations when asked, and was very attentive to our needs. The sushi and saki was delicious. We will definitely return. The price was worth the food and service received. The restaurant has a soft intimate vibe.
This was our first time at O-Ku Atlanta. The food was incredible — everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The fish was especially fresh and just melted in your mouth. Our server, Jade, was amazing! She was super attentive and knowledgeable. Since it was our first time, she walked us through the menu, made thoughtful recommendations, and everything she suggested ended up being a hit. From the atmosphere to the service to the food — everything was top notch. We’ll definitely be back!
My boyfriend and I had a date night here Friday and it was AMAZING 😊 Raul took care of us and was super knowledgeable about the entire menu, from sake to sushi! Chrissy the manager also stopped by our table to check-in on us and she was such a joy to chat with. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious!
This gem is located in midtown Atlanta and has an amazing menu with sushi and other options. The decor is great. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable about each and every dish. They made recommendations that were spot on with our taste buds! The drink was also recommended and did not disappoint either! There is some parking in the area and I recommend you make reservation if going on the weekend.
We had a nice experience on the rooftop at O-Ku. We ordered the crudo flight which was delicious! We also had some nigiri and sushi, Jen delivered great service. The drinks were pricey and not strong, honestly heavy on the juice side. But the food and service was on point.
Literally the best dinning experience I have ever had! From the hostess to the server to the manager, our dining experience was tailored personally to us . It was my birthday, they personalized the menu for us. They had a gift upon my arrival and my departure. It was our first time at this restaurant and it was truly remarkable-I cannot say that enough! Some of the best Japanese food I have ever tasted, the server’s were remarkable, they helped us navigate the menu. They gave us suggestions for food, drinks- it was truly one of the best dining experiences I have ever had and I cannot say that enough. If you have no idea what to eat and you are in the mood for Japanese cuisine this is your go to. The menu was amazing. Their starters were great Nigiri out of this world. I did the Nigiri flight. My husband did Nigiri as well but he had the Chef’s choice so good. The sashimi was amazing-fresh food. If I could give this 10 stars, I would I will most definitely be returning!!
Sophisticated sushi, elevated decor, amazing waiter his fav sushi roll was mt Fuji forgot his name ! He was so awesome. Manager was nice I think his name was Joseph… the ottervale sake was had such a beautiful silky mouth feel .. lol I was drunk so I forgot the name of the sake. But overall my waiter was very attentive and perfect. Would come back when I visit.
The best Westside dining experience I've had in the past year. Service was so friendly, quick, kind, and knew the menu well. We let the team pick items for us, so the whole meal was a surprise..... it did not disappoint. We enjoyed all of it. It was my first time here, but this is hands down my sushi go-to now!
Great atmosphere and food. The service was amazing too. Parking is not easy here. The parking garages nearby are quite crowded too. They have valet parking at the restaurant and that’s probably the best option.
We sat at the bar. Justin was so nice and accommodating. Great service! Food was unique and I’m glad we tried many items on the menu.
I ordered a couple of different types of sushi, enjoyed the rooftop, and had the mochi for dessert. Everything was an enjoyable experience from beginning to end! Even parking was easy!
My husband and I had a great time at O-Ku! We came to Atlanta(first time) for a couple days as part of our honeymoon. I’m so glad we decided to eat here!! Our main server was Tiffany and she was so sweet and helpful. Julian helped us make some decisions on drinks as well. The food may be a little pricey, but the quality and portions are so worth their price. They also asked about allergies which we really appreciated since my husband has a shellfish allergy. They truly show great care for their customers and to make our night extra special they gave us a complementary dessert. We could not have asked for a better experience! Thank you to the folks at O-Ku, y’all are wonderful.
Wow! Everything about our experience here was spectacular. The food was all so fresh! We loved trying the signature nigiri. Our server, Richard, recommended us the Hisoyaki and the Black Magic, which were both delicious and not something we would have ordered ourselves without the guidance. Richard was also great at recommending a sake to us. Thank you!
Amazing service top to bottom! Ling was amazing and recommended everything we ordered. So so so great. Will definitely be back!
I came here with my partner who recommended this spot. Ling was an amazing server and the flight was phenomenal. Everything she recommended made this not a dinner but an experience.
Amazing place and amazing food! Would recommend the Pork Buns, Crispy Rice, Lobster Tamaki. Service was amazing and attentive. All the food came in a timely manner with it being the perfect temp to dig right in. Tamaki has paper separating ingredients from the seaweed so the seaweed stays nice and crispy when ready to eat. So thoughtful! Fatini was so attentive and explained the dishes so well. Alicia anticipated our every move. It was great ambiance. I will be back soon.
Heard about this place from a friend and so glad I went. The food is amazing and so is the service. The manager Fatini made sure our experience was unforgettable. She knew exactly what we wanted before we would have to ask and gave us good recommendations on what to try like the dynamite shrimp and pork buns. To finish off our meal we wanted something not too sweet and were recommended the chocolate namelaka - it had some matcha bits that made it extra delicious. I would come back with more friends!
First off, awesome experience. Food was very delicious. They twist and fuse traditional Japanese flavors with modern new age takes. If you go, you have to try the truffle ponzu if you're into ponzu. Lots of tasty rolls. My favorite was the yellow brick Road. Something about the thin slice of lemon takes the dish to a new level. Service was great. Atmosphere is relaxing. I will definitely stop by again.
This is a cool spot in Atlanta to eat Japanese food. The service was great too! Alicia was very attentive to our needs and Fatini would check in with us. The food was brought out in a timely manner with beautiful presentation. I also enjoyed that the music wasn’t overwhelmingly loud. I tried an assortment of food, but my favorite dishes were the otoro spoons and sea bass tamaki. I would definitely recommend the soft serve ice cream (made in-house!) too.
Happy Hour from 5-6:30. They offer small plates and discounted sushi rolls, however there are no happy hour cocktail specials....they are full price. Pay $5 upfront for mandatory valet parking. I've been meaning to try this place for years and only now just got around to it. The views are no longer what I knew they once were, with the Atlanta skyline now blocked by new apartment buildings being constructed literally all around the district. We were hoping to try the upstairs bar, but the vibe wasnt super inviting, nor the weather. While its covered, it was very much a patio feel. Just too hot and humid this time of year. We headed back down and sat with Justin at the main bar, and we are so happy we did. We ordered the entire happy hour menu as well as just about every drink. The paper crane was my favorite!
think yesterday was my 4th time at O-Ku in the last month. The staff has recognized me every time I've returned and they always make me feel so welcomed. Food and service is always top notch. Make sure you try the otoro spoons, lobster temaki, and misoyaki signature nigiri. You won't be disappointed 😉. Alysha and Felycia have taken great care of me downstairs and have given great food recommendations. If you want a dranky drank, Victoria at the bar will take care of you. Jade was awesome as well. The managers - Joe, Fatini, and Julie are fantastic!
This was our first time dining with O-Ku and the service was amazing! My boyfriend did the omakase and thoroughly enjoyed it! Our waitress Cara was very informative of every detail. The chefs behind the bar were welcoming and wanted to share their preferences in the experience. They were careful with accommodating my boyfriend’s food allergies. We were celebrating a birthday and they made it extra special with a delicious dessert to finish the meal Before we left, the manager surprised us with a gift card to a local venue that wasn’t affiliated with the restaurant. We felt like family at the end! We look forward to visiting again!
We celebrated my wife birthday her last August , towards the sunset and omg we were, I was so happy I selected this spot! Roof top available if you book ahead of time. It was hot but my wife lots the heat so there we were. The food and service was great and I’d highly recommend this place.
Very beautifully crafted and delicious variety of dishes. The quality of the ingredients is so fresh and tastes premium. I especially enjoyed the nigiri, scallops, and curated dessert platter. I appreciate the kindness and effort the O-Ku team put into making dinner so special for my father’s birthday!
Great sushi and great vibe. I good selection of Nigiri . A few appetizer options with a OToro that’s amazing. They’re crispy rice. Tartar appetizer is my favorite. The Hamachi carpaccio is also way better than Nobu . Service was amazing. Went for a graduation dinner. They even gave my friend a little graduation gift! super thoughtful.!
Allena, our server went above and beyond! They had such a great personality, were incredibly kind and attentive, and truly made our experience special. We were even surprised with free food, which was so generous and appreciated. Amazing service like this is hard to find—thank you for making our visit unforgettable!
Delicious food every time!!! We love sitting on the roof especially when the A Team is serving! We love Alayna, Jen and Jasmine! Truly such a great experience.
Allena is the best waitress I have ever had. She was so sweet and went out of her way to cater towards our entire group, and truly made our night. The nigiri and rolls are great and very fresh and full of flavor, and the spicy tuna crispy rice was amazing.
I don't often write reviews but I had to for this establishment. I recently visited O-ku to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday with a few friends, and the entire experience was exceptional from start to finish. The service was outstanding — Chrissy and her team went above and beyond industry standards to make the night special. They were incredibly attentive, accommodating, and made us feel truly taken care of throughout the evening. Every detail was handled with care, and their hospitality elevated the whole experience. It’s rare to find a team that takes this much pride in their service. Thank you, Chrissy and team, for making our celebration unforgettable. We’ll definitely be coming back!
This place is amazing! The food is delicious and the atmosphere is really nice. If you go here you have to have Tiffany as your server. She is so kind and has such a great personality! She made sure our waters were always full and always made sure we were taken care of. She is the best!
Our server, Ellana was so warm and welcoming. She took the time to explain each dish in a way that made us even more excited to try it. You could tell she really knew—and believed in—the quality of the food she was serving. The dishes were outstanding, and the service elevated the whole experience.
I had an amazing experience at O-Ku; it’s one of the chicest sushi spots in the city. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, and the atmosphere felt upscale but still relaxed. The service really made the night, especially from Allena. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and honestly hilarious, which made the whole experience even better. Overall, O-Ku delivers on food, vibe, and hospitality; I’ll definitely be back.
The service was great! We were greeted as soon as we walked in. I’ve had two rolls the California Baja Roll 10/10 and the salmon roll was a 8/10. The cocktail. There’s also valet parking about $5 and the valet gentleman was very nice and respectful. He even took our pictures for us. Overall experience was great and I will definitely be back again.
Good food, service was a little slow and loud environment. The signature nigiri flight is worth trying, I admire the creativity and enjoyed the variety. The sake misoyaki is phenomenal. Otoro wasn’t that fatty or tender which was disappointing.
Quiet and great service, made a last min reservation here for my sons birthday lunch and the manager and staff were amazing. Service was prompt and professional and they know there menu. This is a great place.
Awesome place with great food. Service was extraordinary. Didn’t really enjoy the marbled forest. But I liked the black magic and the temakis were great. Kinda disappointed about the crispy rice appetizers. Soft shell spider was a good roll to get. All in all very pleased with my experience.
This place exceeded expectations by far. We stopped in for happy hour which is 5-7 every Wednesday and Friday. You can capitalize on half price appetizers and half price sushi rolls. The only thing is they have no drink specials. But the food far exceeds expectation and the quality is unbeatable! I would highly recommend this place for a quick bite to eat. The dumplings knocked my socks off. 100% best dumplings I’ve ever had!
We went to Oku 1/31/26 for my wife’s birthday. We have been to Oku once before and found the sushi and menu to be really intesting and a great place to celebrate birthdays, job promotions, etc. However, our second dining experience, left us a little frustrated and confused why the service had taken such a dive bomb from our first experience. We walked in were greeted and chose to sit at a high top rather than be squeezed into a 2 top in between other parties to make the atmosphere more isolated and special for my wife. We are former industry workers and find that sometimes sitting at the bar or bar area can give better service. Our server Miles started off by taking our drink order but after that we waited what seemed to be 15-20minutes before we were even asked what we wanted to eat, we came here with the intention of ordering a lot of food which we did, but it was very challenging as the bartender hardly ever checked on us in between courses. Both of our cocktails were empty and we had to ask another server to get annother round of wine and place more food orders. Long story short, you would think if you spent over $200 on a dining experience, especially when you made a reservation in advance for a birthday that a little more effort would be put into taking care of the guests and birth recipient. We both had two cocktails and ordered a plethora of food and we’re not skimping and found it very hard to enjoy the experience based on our servers absence. The restaurant was not busy so I’m not sure why this landed on us. I would like to eat here again as the food is very good, but I am not sure the service is worth the money spent.
Came in with a few friends tonight and the service was slow but our waitress was kind. I got the chicken teriyaki dish and quickly noticed it was lukewarm, so requested it be heated up. The waitress returned and let me know it had been tossed out since it had been eaten off of and they were making it fresh for me. It came back out about 5 mins later and was not at all like my first dish. My first dish, although not hot, was still good and was a clear chicken breast that had been sliced and arranged nicely. What I got back was chunks of chicken on top of each other and the quality was not good at all, very fatty and gristly. I assume it was scraps from other breast they had cut throughout the night because of the quality and how quickly it came out. I honestly didn't feel comfortable making another complaint because I rarely send anything back, and it clearly wasn't received well the first time. I attached a photo of the leftover chicken after I cut off the decent parts, and what's left is more than half of the chicken I was given. I just hope in the future they don't cut corners if a customer has an issue with their meal.
Celebrated a quaint birthday with my husband, and was very excited to finally find a place that actually had "aburri" (torched fish) on their menu! Food Presentation -> 5/5 Service -> 4/5 Vibe -> 4/5 Value for money -> 3/5 Unfortunately, while everything looked great, the "wow factor" in flavor was a big miss and especially for what you pay for. We ordered the Chef's Nigiri Flight, Crudo Flight, Acevechado roll, and the Soft Shell Spider Roll. The Crudo Flight was the best and recommended, but you only get 3 slices of 3 different sashimi. Was more like a sampler. The rolls were also small. We didn't order any desert, but they brought a birthday ice cream I thought would have been complementary and was a nice gesture.... they charged us $10 for it! I didn't say anything because it was a special eve with my husband and just paid. See the bill at the end of the pics for an idea. They also don't validate parking. Sadly, we won't be back.
The food was mid. Was definitely expecting more for the price. Service was terrible. We waited 45mins for our food(each round), we ordered in 2 rounds. The photos attached are only half of our order. Although, our waiter and the manager apologized for our long wait. They only offered a complimentary drink, our bill was $164. This was our first time @O-ku and it will be my last.
Greetings, this was my third visit to O-Ku, and unfortunately, it was nothing like my first two — which were truly top tier! On those earlier visits, (with Ling & Frebrezzio), the service was engaging, the requested recommendations for entrees & drinks were spot on & we thoroughly enjoyed it! We were even offered complimentary items to try! We always share our dining experiences with family & friends. Because of those great experiences, I chose O-Ku to celebrate my birthday this year instead of our usual favorite, Poor Calvin’s. Wow, that turned out to be a big mistake. We visited on New Year’s Eve for the special omakase menu, and both the service and the food were deeply underwhelming. For an experience that is meant to showcase the chef’s creativity and hospitality, it felt impersonal, and uninspired. The courses did not stand out, the interaction was not like our previous visits, nothing about the evening felt special — despite clearly marking the reservation as a birthday celebration. For the price we paid, our expectations were simply not met. The acknowledgment of the occasion was lackluster, no sense of celebration, and no effort to make the evening memorable. Instead of leaving feeling appreciated, we left disappointed and confused by the dramatic drop in quality and hospitality from our previous visits. While the sushi itself remains good, this experience changed how we view O-Ku. We may stop by for lunch occasionally, but we would no longer choose it for a special occasion.
