This was my first time visiting, went through drive-thru. My friends have been before from previous trips to Reno. Very delicious tacos. Wear a bib😊
The best tacos I've ever eaten !!The perfect shell, the filling is wonderful and the fries are well worth the calories, you actually get piping hot fries Just the BEST !!!
So yummy! The best taco salad ever!
pretty neat setting , very authentic. There were photos around the dining area of Historical Old Auburn area. People were Nice. And IT had real plants inside
My daughter loves there vegetarian burrito, and I love the chicken burrito, the tacos.... And try their fries. They are actually potato wedges. Delicious!
They only had the drive-thru open at lunch time, but my tacos were yummy as usual. Fresh, hot and filled with beef!
I love their tacos, they are coated in parmesan cheese and are delicious. Try "el gordos" with steak, you'll love. My wife says that their burgers are the best, so try everything. :)
Great food! Great service! Super clean and friendly! Everytime we pass we always make sure to stop by and get our Jimboys!
Best authentic drive through Mexican food there is! I love the carnitas tacos! Better than in a traditional restaurant!
We grew up on these beef tacos in Kings Beach, CA. It's the only thing we ever order because we can't get them where we now live!! They have a large menu but these are our favorites!! The best!
My experience at Jimboy's Tacos was good as usual, with prompt service, good food and reasonable prices. The employees were pleasant and helpful. I love the tacos here.
I have to love the first place I ever had a jimboy's taco. It all started here for me. Don't expect a Mexican Street Taco but do expect the wonderful parmesan cheese coated tortilla filled with ground beef and cheese. No need to deviate from the menu just order the ground beef tacos.
They started in South Lake Tahoe I think in the 50's. I lived there then as a child and we ate their tacos. They are the same wonderful tacos as back then. Yummy!!
Sooo good! 👍 I haven't been to Jimboy's in a long time, but it was just as good as it always was. I got a fish taco. It has really good fish, cabbage, guacamole, and pico de gallo. Yum! 😋 I also got a side of rice, and some chips with pico de gallo. Everything was very good and now I'm stuffed and need a nap. 😅🤣. The dining room is not open yet, (covid) but they're advertising for help, so I hope it will be soon. 🤗
I only have Tacos at Jimboy's always loved them and still do . They have some surprises at the salsa bar you won't find normally Fried whole Jalapenos and Onions the same Si Bueno ! Better run for the boarder, at Jimbpy's !!!
Love their tacos. Shell dipped in parmigian cheese!
Jimboy's is the bomb for drive thru tacos! Nothing compares, the meat, the cheese the fried shel with cheese on the outside, lettuce and the signature Jimboy's sauce is a culinary delight that fills every square! Give it a try you won't be disappointed.
Jim Boys Tacos are the best. I've been eating here for years. The food is fresh and cooked to order. Every thing is made in house. Much better than Taco Bell.
Jimboy's has some of my favorite tacos. The original version, regular ground beef. The hot sauce is delicious, and whatever they do to the shells is absolutely perfect. I stop at this location when I'm on my way home from Sacramento, the service is fast and they get the order right. Nice work guys!
Love jimboys tavos. But this location does not have a salsa bar ! Still 5 start
I absolutely love this place. Favorite order: 2 ground beef tacos, 1 steak taco, and an order of chips. Drown everything in the green salsa. Parmesan perfection.
Jimboys has thee BEST tacos. The parm cheese on the top of the shells is SO GOOD! Wish we lived closer to this place.
I really like their steak tacos and I always get that platter. It's a craving for me every so often. Other people really like their chicken taco salad and it looks delicious and filling.
I live in Baja Mexico, but these original tacos, I just love them. Something about the taco sauce. I always grab extra when I'm lucky enough to have tacos and I take it home with me. Yes, I asked the manager and he is super gracious.
I was very hungry after spending most of the day hiking and eating granola bars. Jimboys Taco platter really hit the spot. This place is consistent! I have been to numerous Jimboys and all of them make flavorful food.
Whenever I come here I always get a quesadilla and it never fails me it is so good. They are super nice here everyone seems to have a good vibe. The food is super good!
Amazing food! This is absolutely gem and the workers are extremely friendly! Clean restaurant , super fast and friendly service. Will definitely be back!
The name had scared me off for years, but man, this place is delicious. If you are stopping to charge, make sure to try it. The taco / shell prep is super original and delicious.
Best Tacos on the planet! Get the number one, two tacos and a drink.
I grew up in Vacaville in the late 70's to the 90's. I had heard endless commercials about "Jimboy's... Oh, Boy!" and had never eaten there until this year. We were on our way back from the mountains and wanted to stop at Ikeda's across the freeway... and as always it was too crowded. We decided to give Jimboy's a try. Wow! The food was great! I didn't know how to feel about Mexican food dusted in parmesan, but honestly, don't knock it 'till you try it. The value was good and we even went back to order more during that same trip. On another trip back from the mountains a few months later, my son and I opted to go straight to Jimboy's and skipped Ikeda's all together... BTW, this is not a knock on Ikeda's, because their crowded parking lot speaks to how awesome they are. It only took me 47 years to get to Jimboy's, but better late than never!
Always a solid place for carnitas burritos. I ask for them extra crispy... Yum!
I grew up eating the Jimboy's menu items. Has always been good food at a fairly inexpensive price. The service has always been good and the wait time minimal.
Best Tacos! When we travel from Utah we have to stop and get our tacos. We wish we had a Jimboy's in Utah.
Their food is always great, but very pricey. Can only go there once in awhile
Come here once in awhile when passing through Sacramento we always enjoy their tacos.
My family has long loved Jimboy's Tacos. The quality and taste of their food items is excellent! The original ground beef taco is our favorite. No where have we found taco shells dusted with Parmesan cheese. Yummy 😋😋😋 The staff is professional and friendly. They seal the deal on going to Jimboy's is always a great choice! Thank you!!!
Been coming here since I was a kid in the 90s & it’s still so good! The fish tacos are my favorite! The taco shells make all the difference. That fried parm shell is like gold dust! This time we also got a beef taco & cheese quesadilla, both delicious. LOVE JIMBOYS!! I never miss a chance to come here when I’m in town.
Been coming here for years. Have tried other locations and this is by far the best I’ve been to. The quality of food is so much better I feel. It’s got to be the people doing the preparation and cooking. Maybe family run? I love the tortillas they have with Parmesan on them. My personal favorite tacos are the carnitas and fish ones. They actually didn’t bother calling numbers to come get your order for dine in but brought to the table. Nothing special in decor but it’s clean and bright. Same goes with the restrooms.
Heads up- For whatever reason, this location makes a horrible tahoe burrito. Don't get it. No sour cream, no pico, no red sauce. You've been warned. Guess who didn't have to cook tonight! Yay! Drive thru open only til six. We love jimboys tacos! Especially the carnitas ones! The bean burritos are excellent too. We got the chicken, bacon, avocado quesadilla. Yummy! This is the only location left in Auburn the other one is a coffee shop now so we appreciate them even more. Fantastic salsa bar. Order chips at the counter. Salsa bar has roasted whole jalapeno and onions too.
Portions were very small and some were unrecognizable my beef burrito is as big as a Hot dog. Maybe just a little smaller, for $10 not much of a deal, and not much on it other than meat, and it was dry
This location actually gave me very stuffed fat tacos. They did not skimp. Nice employee at the counter.
I personally think it has the best Mexican fast food in the area. The service is fast and accurate. The employees I have interacted with are polite and good at their jobs
Jimboy's had great food. for a fast food restaurant. We have two in Auburn, both serve good food. Never had an issue with the service, it has always been fast and friendly. The food is fresh.
Everything was great! Serviceww was slow but, thats because they didn't have enough people working. Food was great Beef taco's yummy 😋 0
Great tasting food that is always made with care. A little on the expensive compared to other Mexican joints but always more tasty. If prices were a little less expensive then I would have given an easy 5 stars. Still recommend.
I've always liked jim boys tacos I don't eat them as much as I used to because sometimes the greasiness kind of gets to my stomach but I still like them and had one the other day on Taco Tuesday
Our food was good. The burritos were cold, and cheese was tasteless. The tacos were excellent. Hot and fresh. No cheese, though. The jimboys in my town put cheese on the tacos. They also use different cheese in their burritos, which is better. The chips weren't that good, some over cooked some perfect. The queso cheese dip was very, very good! The dining area could use a clean-up and update? Looks like they don't care kinda vibe. The gal at the counter was pleasant.
Great food I just wish they would have the shredded beef tacos at all locations I get excited when I see a jimboys but then get disappointed when there location doesn't have the shredded beef tacos
Some of my Potato wedges were lil cold maybe from being to thick and came out of fryer to soon...was supposed to come with cheese sauce ...just had to remind them..no biggie..only reason four stars...the taco was good. Kinda quite in there could clean the tables and chairs in between customers....been coming to this jimboys for over 20 years...still affordable prices to feed you or your family...ill be back.
Among fast Mexican food restaurants, Jimboy's is by far the best, but the iced tea tasted like it was three days old. We don't live in Auburn, so the sign on Interstate 80 helpfully alerted us to the exit for this Jimboy's.
The ladies were cool..we ended up there right at closing, and then used the bathroom for an extra 10-12 mins and they waited and served us anyways..thank you ladies
Ordered 4 beef tacos and a steak burrito. Got home to find 2 beef tacos, one chicken and one with refried beans in the taco but NO burrito!🤬🤬 Yes I called to let them know but no one answered the phone.
I was disappointed in the quality of both my burrito and taco. The beans in the burrito and meat in the taco were cold. The service was quick and friendly.
Jimboy’s is greasy and beefy and cheesy! Perfect for your toilet the following day. Thank you for your service.
Environment is quiet, very bland decor, parking is something to be desired. Ordered beef tacos with no lettuce, received beef tacos with more lettuce than a rabbit could eat in a month. -2 stars for the attention to detail.
I've been eating Jimboys since the 80's so, I obviously like them. However, they've become pretty expensive. So I don't go asmuch as I used to.
Hungry for burritos Ordered burritos. "Chef" cooks each ingredient one at a time. I'm not kidding. Hire more back line cooks. Still, Food is tasty.
I love Jimboy's but they were a little off their game this time. Tortillas were burnt and did not have the cheese dusting on the outside of the taco. The Marysville location is better
At other Jimboy's and the one I frequently eat at in Rocklin I always feel welcome but not at this Auburn Jimboy's I felt uncomfortable. I say that because I commented to the lady taking my order that her co-worker in the kitchen was loud. She in turn said something in a language I didn't understand to the loud lady in the kitchen. When picking up my meal from the counter not only was the lady who took my order standing there but the loud lady in the back was there also. While staring at me the loud lady said something to her co-worker in a language I didn't understand then walked away and started singing loudly in the kitchen. Although I didn't understand what she said I definitely picked up on her gaze and demeanor she didn't approve of me. I'm not a snob and I get that it's just a fast food place but I never feel those vibes when being served at Chick-Fil-A or In-N-Out.
Good, greasy tacos. Beef ones are totally the best I got the steak and immediately regretted it after tasting my boyfriends beef tacos. Only critique is they could have used some fresh lime and cilantro
I love this place. But today I paid full price for a large guacamole that was darkly oxidized and old. I have NEVER had that happen at Jimboys! Shame! And there was very little lettuce!
I think as a drive through place this is a solid option. Everything falls apart with the indoor dining. No salsa bar. Seating and atmosphere is really hollow. They need to work on that indoor situation because the outside is cool enough.
This place was recommended by a few friends on our trip home from Reno and I have to say it was not what I expected lol. I used the restroom first before ordering and when i saw a few mouse traps in there ughh. I prayed that the food was not contaminated etc. I still ordered out of curiosity because our friends said it was good food . I ordered a combo plate taco/ enchilada for myself and for my husband 2 taco plate and we had to try the Hot honey chicken taco and the burger taco as well and it was ok not the ohh I have to order this again etc ! The best item was actually the chips! I have been to places with really good food and horrible chips and I have to say the chips at Jimboy's were pretty amazing! The beef tacos are good , the rice and beans are ok too . Just keep in mind that this is not taqueria food and more like Del Taco or Taco Bell.
Tacos are super soggy with grease, but you can eat them with a fork and they do taste good (I like greasy food). Better to eat inside than taking it to go for sure. The service is pretty good, drive thru has a very long wait sometimes and no apology. I like their fish tacos a lot, i just wish they would let some of the grease drip off before putting it on the tortilla so it would stay together. I eat here about once a week, sometimes more.
Got two fish tacos for the money I thought was way way over priced 11.25 for 2 of them, and they were soggy, which varied hard to eat and not to mention I had a bad stomach ache that night I'm thinking the fish was bad
The new Menu, is small and hard to read at the Drive Thru. No more Mini Menu? No more Shrimp NO more Side of SALSA CRUDA... NO more Chili Relleno Some/Lots - people prefer no Meat/Chkn
The food was terrible. Dried out and cold. Marysville is by far the best Jimboys I've been to so far. I love Jimboys, but over the years, they are not what they used to be. If you want Jimboys the way it was 20 years ago? Go to Marysville.
Went to Jimboys in Auburn for fish tacos but they were out of fish, so settled for bean tacos..they were ok, just refried beans and cheese in greasy tortillas, nothing special. I also ordered a large unsweetened ice tea, the tea tasted like it had been sitting around for a week or perhaps the tank they kept it in hadn't been cleaned in that much time. There also was no toppings bar at this location. This Jimboys was definitely a disappointment.
Not as good as they used to be. I've gone there when first store opened in Sacramento. You could get 7 tacos for $1.00!!!! and they were the best! Even a few yrs ago were better. But now? Naw. Totally different, not great
I can't believe how far Jimboy's has fallen. The food doesn't taste the same. The service is barely minimum. Prices have gone way up and everything is just worse... My absolute favorite taco joint has completely changed into a sad excuse for a taco.
The food is over priced for the quality. When the steak burritos have more beans than meat, and more lettuce than guacamole, there is an issue. And, whoever made them, did not know how to wrap them tightly, so sour cream, grease, etc. squirt out the bottom and sides. Today, the customer service was satisfactory, bit I have given this place multiple chances to redeem themselves, but usually there is a whiney, rude young person working the register, who acts as if you, the customer, is bothering them with your presence. Save your money and hit the local Mexican restaurant across the freeway.
I'll never understand why a new franchise owner takes over a great place, downgrades everything, and thinks that's a good idea. This placed to have a fresh salsa bar, with fresh roasted jala o Enos, etc. Gone. Cool antique photos of old Auburn, gone. Comfy booths to sit in. Gone, replaced by hard plastic chairs. Food is ok, seemed better before. Probably won't be back.
It was rather dirty, like everything. Wasn't busy and there wasn't a clean table to be had. I asked for extra crispy tacos and they came out in 1 minute flimsy. No communication between order taker and cook.
I was extremely dissapointed. I understand it was the 4th of July but both myself and the person i was with burnt our mouths when we took our first bite. The onions over at the little bar were so cold you could tell they'd been there for hrs. And last but not least it's it the rule there that employees are not supposed to give water to any of the plants in there? That bothered me the most. I thought if i just mentioned it the people there would feel like i did and would water the poor things. Enough said. Sorry for the negative response.
Not authentic Mexican food it tastes like Taco Bell I don’t recommend this awful🤮 Mexican food place I won’t never come back again because it’s not worth my money because it’s not good Mexican food👎👎👎👎😡😡🤬🤬🤬👎👎
This is the second time I've been given the wrong order! I even double checked at the window before I paid (Of course what I received are cheaper menu items to boot) I've tried calling numerous times but nobody answers the phone. If I could give no stars I would.
Bummed. Drug my family up here during a trip home. Awful. The people were nice but it didn’t make up for the soggy, flavorless tacos. Nothing like it used to be. Sad.
Great tasting tacos, but too expensive. Had dinner with my family around 7 p.m. and was confused why one of the employees was vacuuming in the restaurant while we were there. After almost finishing our nachos we asked for more chips and we're told that we have to pay for them. Poor customer service.
Went there to get my birthday gift and they refused to honor it. They said go where you signed up but since you sign up online how's that possible?? Very very rude staff and management. They really put a damper on my birthday. No problem redeeming any of my other birthday offers. 🤨😏
Enchiladas were horrible -- almost no cheese or chicken inside. I was also blamed for the long wait time in drive-thru since I ordered enchilada plates that had variations. I'm also unhappy that the menu changed: no more shredded beef and no chile rellanos . . .sad. Don't like the menu or the food any longer -- my last visit. Only good thing: fixed parking lot and drive thru surface.
Drove in I guess it was after the change of menu I was dissapointed to see menu change I tried something different a stuffed quesadilla, carnitas tacos and quacamole I never thought there would be bacon in quesadilla this is one thing that the all mighty bacon doesn't taste good in or belong in, it was horrible in my opinion, I never went back till yesterday ordered my regular carnitas taco, again. no lime and meat wasn't grilled like normal it was soft and chewy, shell was just warmed and to much stuff on outside of taco just wet,, chips and quacamole didn't have the little kick it always had just smashed avocado if you will, little cup wasn't full. I asked for green sauce, i asked to see size, a very small tiny plastic container maybe a tablespoon i asked for 4 use for taco and chips and quacamole he said we limit these and said I can have is 2 i said how many did you give me when he gave me the bag he said 3 and he lied only 2. Summary, less quacamole in container, no added kick to smashed avacado, no lime with carnitas taco not grill with a crisp, very stingy on taco sauce..then to top it off no one answered the phone when I called several times shortly after I left or later when I got home...I do not recomend this place any longer and won't be back to any jim boys ever..even sent a comment to Jim Boys through web site past and present and never a response ***Bet I recieve the generic non compassionate response to this review as others have recived
Every single door and sign in the window reads opens at 9:00 a.m. but they do not. They open at 10:00. I wish they would get their messages straight because we love jimboy's for breakfast but couldn't stop today
The only reason I gave this place one star is because there is no option for zero. The lady at the register was on her phone and it seemed like we were bothering her because we were ordering(she will not be named). I ordered the the Tahoe Burrito which was apparently the worst thing to order. The meat tastes like old Taco Bell meat that was really greasing and was just horribly terrible. I can guarantee you the cheese was velveeta. Please don't do what I just did, I wasted my money and possibly put my health at risk because it feels like it's going right through me. Granted this place is know for its tacos that I have not had, those might be okay, but don't waste your time or your money at this place for a burrito. A better alternative would be the Taco Bell dumpster.
Do not have the ingredients for the nachos at all and put two toppings on and that’s it and they do not buy the ingredients for the item at all.
Just terrible! I ordered a burrito with carnitas. It is just a greasy (??) tortilla with the meat inside. Nothing else. No rice or beans or anything. They call that the "classic". What a waste of money and time. Any taco truck is way better than this grease spoon. The name, “Jimboy’s “ (???) alone should have raised flags but i stopped at the gas station next door and was hungry. Big mistake and regret.
Tacos were great, took a long time to order & a long time to get food, fast food right?. We walked right into the dining area to use the bathroom & was promptly told the door wasn't suppose to be unlocked & she stared at us like a deer in head lights. My husband & I were traveling from Elko, NV. We needed the restroom immediately(emergency). And we were turned away-paying customers, oh well won't be back! Your menu prices are very high👎👎👎. Needs to be done better & orderly!
Been stopping here for 20 years on my trips to Reno. Stopped in on a Wednesday at 6:45 and the sign said open but doors locked. 5 cars came in to eat inside but they wouldnt open. Wanted everyone to order through drive through. Pulling a trailer so cant fit through drive through. Website says open until 8pm. Wont be coming back.
The teller took the liberty of putting our change, almost a dollars worth in her tip jar without even handing it to us or asking us if we wanted that to happen. WTH!! The manager of this restaurant needs to stop that kind of behavior right now. Also, no salsa bar and very tiny plastic salsa containers. when you’re able to get them you can only have two and they’re about a tablespoon each. I’m not joking!! I won’t be going back there. I don’t care how good their tacos might be!!!! And they weren’t that great to be honest.
Just went and got some cinnamon churros and they were completely bare, no cinnamon sugar sprinkle. It was nasty, literally like eating deep fried barf or something. I can’t even explain. Then my boyfriend’s entire taco just fell apart. And his cream filled churro bag leaked all over his car cause they gave him a bag with a hole. Edit to update 2/21/25: Just went again on a whim to see if they’d have improved. Nope. Absolutely disgusting. They need to learn how to actually make churros. They suck 😭
