Grateful this place is near my new office, I’ll be coming for those lunch specials regularly. Reminds me of the food I ate growing up in MS. The green beans and fried chicken are delicious. You should definitely try this place!! 100%

This is definitely my go to lunch spot !! They are so sweet and the food taste like grandmas old school cooking . The place is pretty small not the best appearance but the food will have you sold ! I highly recommend.

I stopped by on Friday and got the Salisbury steak…. Oh my good lord. It’s incredible!!!! Tasted like something straight from a home kitchen. The service was also delightful! I’ll definitely be coming back when I’m craving a comforting home cooked meal.

Don't judge a book by its cover like I almost did. Go inside it's worth it. Friendly atmosphere, they checked on us a few times and the food was outstanding pork chops flavourful with mashed potatoes and gravy and oh lawd the greens and cornbread,sweet tea with a slice of strawberry cake.

You’ll be treated like family and everything is delicious! At first I was a little unsure about this place judging by the outside. I’m from way out of town so I had no idea about the history of East Austin. If you really want a history lesson eat here. You’ll taste your grandmother’s cooking and it will take you right back home even if you’re unsure where home is. Get some kool-aid with it if you really want to understand!

Ask around in the neighborhood...they'll share with you that THIS is the place to go! GREAT food. Like your Mom would make it and tastes just as good!!! Get there and you'll continue going back...as I've done for years and years.

Galloway's has been hiding in plain sight. I've enjoyed all 3 meals I have tried at this little spot. If you are interested in food that tastes homemade then this is your spot. There's nothing fancy about the restaurant or food but it feels welcoming and tastes good. I first had the beef enchiladas which remind me of my Granny's...nothing remotely tex mex about this but it's good! Next I tried the beef tips and rice. This was better than average but lacked real flavor...or maybe some salt. The green peas and cream corn set the meal off just right though. Lastly I had the salisbury steak with mashed potatoes and mac & cheese. My mouth is watering thinking of the flavorful gravy used to make this meal a hit. Oh yea the corn bread...bam instant winner. I wasn't going to tell yall because I like it SO much but they also have banana pudding which has real bananas and nilla wafers. I dont know where they are hiding the meal prices but even with dessert my total was never more than $13. I recommend this spot over the other more popular "soul food" spots in Austin.

The food was very yummy. My belly was nice and full after I finished eating. I ordered the ribs and sausage, coleslaw, and cornbread. The gentleman that took my order was extremely kind and hospitable. The indoor seating area at the time did not have the A/C working, it might have been out of order. This is a no-frills establishment.

It's a nice local place and service is real nice but when I went they weren't serving sandwiches which was disappointing. Maybe another time. The hot plate food was meh.
