the food here was some of the best and freshest i’ve had in a while. i didn’t try the coffee but i will be back for that. i love the vibe, so light and airy. great place to work for a bit, grab a bite and something to drink. i love that there’s a drive thru, patio and indoor seating, so something for everyone. the employees are all super nice and didn’t make me feel bad for taking a little while to look at the menu or ask questions. definitely recommend!
I’ve been here three times in the past month or so because I just love the desert/modern aesthetic and seating situation! For once they have COMFY outdoor seating with a gorgeous vibe, plenty of dog bowls, a sink to wash up, reliable wifi, and great service. You never feel ignored and the staff are friendly without being too suffocating. As you can see from the photos, it’s clean and bright. The wine tuesdays are a great deal for some good wine & the pasta (tagliatelle) hit the spot. I also tried their veggie burger and it was fine but I felt too hot outside to eat — maybe invest in some mist fans for the summer? Honestly though, this place also has AstroTurf and corn hold on the side! And it’s never packed. Gray for family, kids, parents in town, casual dates, catch ups, and happy hour. Go go go go
I drove by this place last week, saved it to my Yelp bookmarks, checked out the pics., etc. Hubby & I went here for dinner/Happy Hour this evening. Wow. What a nice place, DAMN GOOD food & service, hence the 5-Star rating. We will be back, maybe for Couples Date Night. All of our food, apps., dranks (not pictured), for a grand total of $88 and some change, tip not included, not too bad.😉😉😉 12.18.18
Love Hanks one of my near by go to’s Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’ve never had bad service at Hanks. Then on the off change something isn’t perfect be ready for the manager to take the time to address it. I’be never asked for the manager but they are just very attentive, and communicate well as a team. Food ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great. I’ve eaten here countless times normally late lunch and it’s great. The only thing about their food that makes me sad is the menu changes, so be prepared to fall in love with a dish and then no longer have it be available. Good news always needs yummy options Drinks ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Hanky Panky is my go too but I’ve tried most of their cocktails and they never disappoint. But be warned they can be strong. Atmosphere ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My dog is my world so I love that the patio is dog friendly, spacious, and prepared for all the seasons. From shades and fans in the summer, to wind blocks and heaters in the cold. Inside also have a wonderful atmosphere with three distinct sections (bar/dining/café). It makes it a good place to get a bit of work done or have a work meeting also. Vinyl on booths does need some attention but given how well down the rest is I’ll let it slide. Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Absolutely loved grabbing lunch here. It had such a southern feel to it. You can sit inside with the cool air or at the bar. You can sit out on the patio under the big fans. The food was delicious. The meatballs are a little spicy. The service was wonderful. They are taking safety precautions and keeping everyone distanced.
Hank's Austin was a super chill dinner spot and we will definitely be back. The experience had many highlights including and starting with the beautifully plated and incredibly delicious appetizers and entrees. As well, we had a couple cocktails on tap from the happy hour menu made perfectly and served in relevant and nifty drinkware. We had our 1 year old with use and they were great with changing tables in the men's room, working high chair buckles, and lots of choices on the kids menu. These things are not often found in many restaurants. Our hostess and server were very attentive and the restaurant was not packed at all. We were seated right away and had average wait times for food and drinks. Which is expected for high quality food like this. There are many other things on the menu we wanted to try so we will definitely have to be back to try more.
Coleyworld approved 💜 I love finding new gems! Came for a work happy hour and never knew this place existed. We were a party of 6 and sat very comfortably in a spacious booth. Parking lot was full of cars and the place was happening. Drinks, service and food were great. Artichoke dip was dank and i had the turkey sam - delicious. Def coming back and def recommend.
Amazing farm to table restaurant on the East side with a drive through coffee bar. We had the brined chicken (wow!), the crispy rice bowl (so crispy and flavorful), spinach artichoke dip (pretty typical), veggie burger (so so), parmesan fries (would have been better with an aioli dipping sauce instead of ketchup) and the Chantilly cake (delicious). Love the ambience and decor. Will definitely be back to try more menu items!
A lovely spot in an unexpected place--absolutely gorgeous, with a clean, bright atmosphere and varied seating inside and outside. The food was great and came out very quickly, even during the busiest part of the day when the entire restaurant was packed. Very easy & calm to get to; a great little spot!
Great restaurant and coffee spot. During the day, it is fun to come for a great cup of coffee. At night, the establishment turns into a restaurant. We have come here multiple times and have enjoyed many different entrees and sides. This time we got a burger and chicken sandwich and throughly enjoyed them. The atmosphere is cozy and great for a date or time with friends. Would highly recommend coming here.
First thing I have to say about Hank's is the atmosphere is great and the HUGE outdoor porch is awesome. I love this place and it's a welcomed addition to Berkman Drive. We started off with the Pulled Pork Buns with House Mustard and they were absolutely delicious! Next we ordered the Fried Chicken with Honey Hot Sauce and the chicken was so deliciously crisp and brown, it was so good. We also ordered the Eggs Benedict and that was good too. If you want a great place to eat and support local go here and enjoy some food and drinks with friends.
The crispy rice dish was the highlight for me. It has sour and spicy flavors reminiscent of a traditional Laotian crispy rice dish. I added the chicken, which was perfectly seasoned with a light yet tasty flavor. What really made the experience though was the atmosphere. The restaurant had ambient sounds that was surprisingly soothing. Giant windows let in a ton of natural light, and the space was filled with lush plants. As the sun set, the vibe became even cozier, with the soft lighting from their beautiful fixtures creating a warm glow. Despite the higher prices, I would definitely return. There's plenty of parking outside, which is convenient, and the restaurant is attached to a café that I’m curious about. Overall, it’s a perfect spot for a special evening.
A must try when in Austin! The staff here was very friendly. Should make reservations. Portions are good for one person per dish! The shushuka was DELICIOUS. A very popular item on the menu which is very filling! The black bean burger - would ask for spicy chipotle aioli on the side. Burger comes with fries which were so delicious!
First, very nice vibe. Love that it's located in a neighborhood but large enough for an easy in and out parking lot with lots of parking spaces. Suuuper nice and friendly staff! The kind of service I wish we could get everywhere. Not stuffy or fake, just genuinely friendly. And the food was topnotch. Very good quality! Prices were decent considering the quality. We didn't go to the bar but I would definitely stop in next time as it sits a bit separately from the rest of the restaurant. As we were leaving we saw families walking up from the neighborhood, some with strollers and some kids on bikes. Loved that! My only wish was that the music was a little more of the independent type. They were playing old school rock which is fine. But for a place like this, I felt it should be a bit more modern.
Everything was delicious. ADA wheelchair accessible. Dog friendly patio. From the cocktails to the Chantilly cake was amazing. I tried 2 salads a soup and dessert. My hubby tried the hamburger and dessert and we could not be any more impressed. Clean and friendly staff. Pics included.
I've been a few times and have enjoyed myself. Good portions, prices are reasonable, food is solid and for American cuisine I think they have a more unique selection. I had the hot chicken sandwich which wasn't particularly hot but it was tasty. The parmesan fries were also delicious. I enjoy the Chantilly cake. I like the outdoor and indoor options. Solid spot!
Hank’s is a great neighborhood spot. We live nearby and use this place to treat ourselves when we’re in a happy hour mood. It has LA vibes and is filled with style and unique flair. They offer great coffee, food, atmosphere, and service. The happy hour prices are fair, their drive through is efficient, and the fact that we can bring our dog along always has us sold! We order the Brussel Sprouts every trip, and enjoy frozen Paloma’s while our pup drinks from his complimentary water bowl on the patio. Always a good spot to meet family and friends, and they’re handling COVID-19 wonderfully.
Very good happy hour spot. Hanks is low key with lots of parking and seating in the restaurant. The drinks are strong and the food is delicious. The happy hour drinks are around $8. We ordered Brussel sprouts, fried zucchini, hummus, and cheese board to eat while we drank. I will be coming back here!
Loved Hank's. The restaurant, bar cafe and patios overall is just so ultra chic! I really loved the minimal interiors with large windows and beautiful indoor plants. Service was exceptional, everyone was seated with social distancing. And the food is wonderful. Let me start with the Shrimp and Grits, it was an appetizer but it really is a meal by itself very filling. Make sure to really slather that amazing sauce. Then the Bolognese Pasta! So good!
I loved everything. Even the water tasted good.🤣 The batter for the fried zucchini was seasoned and not heavy. The sweet potato fries were the perfect texture. The salmon and the shrimp exceeded flavor expectations. Then we had cake for dessert. That cake was the picture and taste of perfection. I am definitely recommending Hanks to everyone and I will be back!
This restaurant is an absolute gem that checks all the boxes for a fantastic dining experience. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the inviting atmosphere and stunning decor. The design is modern yet cozy, with warm lighting, thoughtful details, and an ambiance that feels both elegant and relaxed. Whether you’re here for a casual meal or a special occasion, the vibe is perfect. The food is nothing short of amazing. The menu offers a great variety of dishes, with something for everyone, whether you’re in the mood for a classic comfort dish or something a bit more adventurous. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The portions were generous without being overwhelming, and you could tell they use high-quality ingredients. The happy hour menu is also a highlight—offering excellent options at unbeatable prices. From craft cocktails to small plates, it’s an ideal spot to unwind after work or start a night out. The drinks deserve a special mention. The bartenders are clearly skilled, crafting cocktails that are both creative and perfectly balanced. Whether you go for a signature drink or a classic, you won’t be disappointed. Their wine and beer selection is also impressive, with options to suit every taste. The staff truly elevate the experience. From the host to the servers, everyone was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They struck the perfect balance of being present without hovering, and they were quick to accommodate any requests or dietary restrictions. Overall, this restaurant has it all—fantastic food, a great atmosphere, excellent happy hour deals, and a team that makes you feel welcome. I can’t wait to return and try even more of what they have to offer. Highly recommended!
Our first visit to Hank's was a delightful experience. We met friends for a mid-morning breakfast and sampled a variety of dishes, including the traditional breakfast plate, eggs Benedict, shrimp and grits, and Hank's cheeseburger. The portions were generous, and the food was exceptional. The true highlight, however, was the Chantilly cake. It was one of the best cakes I've ever had in Austin, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. All four of us shared it, and it was so good that I'm already craving another slice. Hank's is a fantastic spot, and we can't wait to return soon.
**5 Stars** I recently dined at Hanks in Austin, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a modern yet cozy design that makes you feel right at home. The menu offers a diverse selection of dishes, each one prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients. I tried the fried chicken sandwich, which was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside—absolutely delicious! The service was friendly and attentive, making sure every need was met without being overbearing. Whether you're looking for a place to enjoy a relaxing brunch or a delightful dinner, Hanks is definitely worth a visit. I can't wait to return!
We love Hanks. You'll love it too. It's just a great place to be whether you're indoors or on their porch. The food is delicious and we're especially fond of their mussels. We discovered their cured salmon done in house and it was a great delight. I only wish they would bring back their world class creme bruleè. Le sigh. It was sooooo good.
This is a really nice place! Very clean and modern. The food was more than great... Our breakfast with amazing!! Omg I loved the froze drink! I could drink them all day! So so good! Came here for a get together with an old friend and we enjoyed it immensely. I can appreciate a place like this. I can tell it is well managed. I will be coming back here to try lunch. Thank you so much team! Y’all were all perfect! I do highly recommend for any type of crowd but it’s definitely on the mid-high end vibe I feel, which is perfect for me. Two Thumbs up! 👍🏼👍🏼
I've been here a few times and have loved the food every time but on this occasion the lamb meatballs were a bit too dry and overcooked in my opinion. Luckily the sauce it comes with was helping me get through it. I didn't say anything-but would have rather sent it back. Everything else was great that my friend and I ordered.
Hank’s is one of my favs spots in Austin. I’ve been several times with friends and family and it never disappoints. The atmosphere is cozy and stylish with a beautiful patio that’s perfect for any time of day. The food is always delicious. I recommend the crispy Brussels sprouts, the wood grilled salmon and the tagliatelle with bolognese. The service is friendly and consistent. It’s the kind of place you keep coming back to.
We’ve been coming to Hank’s for a few years now—it’s easily one of our favorite happy hour spots in town. The ambiance is always spot-on, with stylish design and a laid-back vibe. We especially love grabbing a seat at the bar. On our most recent visit, Miriam took care of us and was fantastic—super attentive, easy to talk to, and made the whole experience even better. We enjoyed the white wine on tap, the frozen Paloma, and the Aperol spritz—all refreshing and well-made. The burger hit the spot, but if you’re looking for standouts, we highly recommend the pesto rice bowl with grilled chicken and the spicy shrimp. Both are packed with flavor and perfect happy hour bites. If you’re looking for a chill, unpretentious happy hour with great service, food, and drinks—Hank’s is the place.
my review is for the little cafe portion of hank’s as i came early on a saturday morning. it is a pleasant little spot with pastries & breakfast tacos to enjoy with your coffee. the atmosphere is simple and comfortable. a nice spot that isn’t overdone but still pleasant to be in. next time i will make sure to come a little later to enjoy the brunch.
Visiting Austin for a holiday and wanted something different and found Hanks on google. So glad we visited food was amazing and great atmosphere. Highly recommended
I went for brunch this Sunday, and... I'll be back soon! The restaurant is a bit noisy in that hip urban way I don't love, but it's still easy to have a conversation. The patio is more quiet. My slice of quiche was HUGE, and delicious, and my side of bacon was cooked just right. My server, Chuy, was friendly and helpful. A great experience all around!
Buena comida, todos los platillos que he ordenado muy ricos. Solo no recomiendo el matcha
Ufff por muchoooo el top del humus de Austin jajajaja tienes que ir y .
Porque hay todo lo que te gusta.
Es muy elegante y acogedor
Hank’s Austin delivers a consistently great dining experience. The food tastes fantastic — fresh, well-seasoned, and thoughtfully prepared, no matter what you order. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with comfortable seating that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy your meal. I was seated quickly, and the service was fast, friendly, and attentive without ever feeling rushed. Overall, Hank’s strikes the perfect balance of quality food, relaxed comfort, and efficient service. A spot I’d gladly return to.
I was super excited to try Hank’s as so many people rave about it. It was great but didn’t live up to the hype. Service was normal but not great. The tomato bisque was tasty but was a little short on the cheese crumbles. The grilled cheese was very tasty. I definitely want to go back to try a different dish.
This is a cute place out on the East side of Austin. There’s plenty of parking and it’s a spacious place. The restaurant also has a cafe tied to it. We went to the restaurant side today and asked to be seated indoors. My experience: Environment: this restaurant is spacious and has a very earthy and bright environment. It feels fresh and clean. The space really gives you the comfort to move around without running into anyone’s table, and the background music isn’t too loud so you can hear your guests speak. Service: The service was wonderful. Even with the wait, we were seated pretty quickly (in under ten minutes). Our server was wonderful! He was attentive and ensured we had everything we needed. Food: I’m a little conflicted about the food. First, they were out of baked goods because those come from their cafe side and apparently they sell out quickly. Second, they didn’t have any meat-alternatives; it’s either pork or nothing. My partner and I ended up ordering the avocado toast with an extra poached egg. The rye bread was too dry and hard to cut through with the knife. It was also hard to chew. While my partner asked for hard poached, I was expected soft poached eggs and they came out hard as well. So, I’m a bit disappointed with the food. I would give this place another shot though. Overall the experience was nice and the food was still good. Just wasn’t impressed with the rye bread and the hard poached eggs.
First time at hanks, didn’t have to wait long to get seated. Luckily it was a nice day and was able to sit outside. They have heaters so I imagine even if it’s still a little chilly it’ll be fine. Ordered Brussel sprouts, the spicy chicken sandwich with fries, veggie burger with a side of corn and for dessert créeme brûlée. All the food was very well made and tasted great. The presentation and plating was also very pleasing to the eye. For dessert decided to try the créeme brûlée and it was honestly the best one I’ve had ever! Patrick’s service along with everyone else who helped us was welcoming and had a great attitude. Can’t wait to come back and try some more!
TLDR: Very social media oriented, but good food nonetheless Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. We got reservations well ahead of time, so I can't really testify as to the wait times and such. Service was polite and prompt. for appetizers, we got the Gulf Shrimp & grits. It's an.... interesting... take on the deep south classic. The grits are actually small cakes that have been fried. each with a large shrimp placed on top, and the whole dish drowned in a sauce. It presents very well, and despite my terrible camera skills, looks very appealing, but it appears they sacrificed taste for presentation. The grits didn't take well to deep frying, and the sauce was both too much and not enough. A traditional and simple shrimp and grits would have been much better. For the mains, we had the Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich and the pesto rice bowl. both of these were very good, and more than made up for the lackluster appetizer. It looks like Hank's has focused a lot on the presentation of their food and establishment, and if you appreciate that, this is an amazing place. 4/5
We went on Saturday at happy hour. The first was busy, but we were greeted by a manager. Service was good, food was tasty, clean, and delicious. The oysters were so good. I was surprised by the rose' on tap, but glad I got it. The jalapeno margarita was too easy to drink. So good. Can't wait to return and sit outside on those neat long tables!!! *One improvement could be the women's restroom. It wasn't in the best shape.
Awesome food and ambiance - The Gulf Shrimp and Grits were delicious, I will have that as my main course next time. The fried chicken was good. They were out of the scallops, so I got the Black Kale Caesar salad and added chicken; unfortunately the chicken was so dry and hard that my knife wouldn’t cut through it. The salad was ok and definitely big enough for a main course. The Chantilly Cake was beautiful, delicious, and rich.
Went back again recently and had a great time. This was a cool little spot off Berkman drive. The drinks were pretty good as were some of the appetizers. The jalapeno sausage and okra dish and cheese plate was really good! Brussel sprouts, fried pickles and fried chicken were tasty and the cake was great. Staff was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. Overall this place has a cool vibe to it and there are a steady stream of customers. They provide great, homestyle comfort food.
The place itself is great, ample a lot of room. You can sit in a crowded and noisy area or you can choose to sit in a more quiet area. Both indoor and outdoor areas are great. I only tried the appetizers, almost of of them, but I was not impressed. The humus was the notable exception. The drinks were great and if you can make it to happy hour, they have a small selection at only five bucks. Bottom line, I would recommend it. A big plus is that there is a lot of free parking :-)
Got the avocado toast (3/5) and grilled cheese (4/5) with fries (5/5!!!) to split. Also got the matcha (decent but not worth the price). Very cute place, great location. Five star material but price a bit too much for what you get. Definitely will be coming back for special occasions though.
I went on a wed for dinner so it wasn’t super crowded. I just missed hh, but it seemed like they had some great deals. Food: the muscles and Brussels sprouts were really good, esp the muscles! I had the steak frites and asked for medium.. but it definitely came out well done. .. the fries that came with it were really good tho. Friends got the pork schnitzel and summer shrimp dish and they were mid. Drinks: really good. I had the spicy marg Atmosphere: it’s so inviting in there and there’s such good outdoor space. I love when I’m not jam packed into a tiny restaurant. Decor is Planty vibes and kinda coastal. Price: I felt like price was fair for what I got.
If breakfast were a personality trait, Hank’s Breakfast at Hank's Austin would be confident, comforting, and effortlessly cool. This is the kind of breakfast that makes you forgive mornings entirely, with plates that feel both thoughtfully chef-driven and deeply nostalgic in a how did they make eggs taste this good way. Everything shows up perfectly executed, rich without being heavy, indulgent without being reckless, and clearly made by people who respect breakfast as the most important emotional meal of the day. It is the rare spot where you start planning your next visit halfway through the first bite, where coffee refills feel generous rather than strategic, and where brunch decisions no longer require debate!
Had an after work event here. It's nice inside. I got a simple cheeseburger and fries. The burger was tasty but the patty is pretty small. Fries are shoe-string and were cooked nice and crisp. I'm rating the food a four due to value. It wasn't bad, but I wasn't impressed on burger portion for the money. The biggest negative was the waitress. She was ok, but things like plate clearing, refreshes on drinks, and overall attentiveness we're lower than typical for a restaurant in this price range. I would go back and try it again.
My partner, our 12 year old kid and I came to Hanks for dinner. It's our first experience here and the atmosphere is lovely and the service is attentive and rapid. However, I can't say the same for the food. I ordered the cheeseburger ($15) medium rare, which came on a house baked bun. What arrived had a lovely presentation and shoelace fries... With a burger that had been cooked to a dry, leather like well done consistency. My kiddo ordered the salmon ($22) which arrived with a nicely cooked ~3 oz portion served on a bed of poorly made overly garlic risotto. Overall their dish was a bit bland and not much to write home about. My partner ordered the Garden and Goat salad which I am happy to say was up to par with golden beets and radish greens with fresh goat cheese and candied walnuts. She very much enjoyed it. So, overall a mixed bag. We will have to try again, but I now have some reservations about making reservations.
We eat here often for take out. The food has always been pleasant and tasteful. Today I ordered a Chantilly Cake. This was more like a dry biscuit with a delicious fruit custard. They really missed the mark with this one. Presentation was beautiful and the staff that took care of my order were nice. However, this cake needs improvement. Do not recommend.
I think this place might have been a little better than our experience because we sat outside and the people next to us had a big golden retriever that was shedding hair. I love dogs but don't really want dog hair in or around my dog food. The spicy chicken wasn't that spicy but the fries were good. Drinks were good.
Went to this place with some friend's and their parents. Its a nice place on the inside, staff are kind enough (one staff member gad air pods in and seemed kind of indifferent to helping customers), and the food was good...albeit a lil pretentious. Im from South Carolina and am a big fan of shrimp and grits so was excited about getting it here...but what i got, in my opinion, was not shrimp and grits... when i think shrimp and grits i think of a nice buttery bowl of grits with shrimp and veggies on top. What i got was more like shrimp and polenta, it was still good dont get me wrong, but i wouldnt considered it Shrimp and grits... not a bad place but somethings dont match the esthetics 😅
Hank's has a great atmosphere and excellent staff. The drinks are well made and they have a decent selection of well priced beers, including local IPAs. Most of the staff are college aged. They're respectful and attentive. There's plenty of parking, indoor, outdoor, and bar seating. The food is okay, but certainly the low point. It's all too expensive, even during happy hour. There's really nothing special on the menu and it feels like you're being gouged. This is honestly a better quiet bar spot than restaurant.
Made a reservation and waited 20 minutes before a server showed. Had to ask multiple times for simple things and both the server and the staff member delivering the food could not answer what was in the dishes. Shrimp and grits were alright, although the shrimp cakes were a bit tough. The Benedict’s were good. The quiche Lorraine was undercooked and not very tasty. The pancakes were a bit bland. Overall great pricing for dishes compared to many Austin restaurants.
There on a Sunday just after noon. Acknowledgement, service, check backs were slow, very low energy and seemed almost an interruption their routine. took 11 minutes to get hot coffee; (the cup from the thermos was luke warm ) Had to grind beans. Eggs Benedict - one egg fluid, the other solid, just like another customer close by, who had her order re-done, i didn't want to wait., the coffee was very good, the breakfast potatoes better seasoned than most, Hollandaise sauce was adequate, The paloma was very good. No warmth or vitality. Not worth the drive or the hype.
With Hank's, you'll get what it says on the package. The burger is certainly a burger, which isn't a bad thing, but don't expect particularly inspired menu items or execution. A highlight was the fried shrimp: which was crisp, well seasoned, and had a balanced and tasty aioli that didn't overpower the whole thing. It also paired very nicely with the ginger it's served with. But for every rise, there comes a fall in the form of a bizarrely hard avocado toast with a sadly over-poached egg. Delightful as it is to watch the yolk spill over, it only served to further dilute any cohesive texture. I would hesitate to describe the restaurant as southern and would push for a new-American discriptor. Burgers, arugula, power bowls, aoili, avocado toast, bean sprouts, cooked salmon, and other staples to find in a dull, white gastropub. Is a blank canvas symbolic of endless possibility or a lack of paint and creativity?
Hank’s is still listed as a southern restaurant but they’ve made so many changes to the menu it just doesn’t seem like it anymore. Food is still good, service still good, and decent atmosphere although it’s a bit dark. It used to be a more lively place
I can’t give it any fewer than 3 because the food and the restaurant is amazing, but the cafe drive through is very frustrating. I recently got there with a completely empty drive through and it took over 20 minutes for a coffee and a grab and go pastry. The service is genuinely bad. The people are sweet though, so it’s either a staff volume or management issue.
So, I’m confused by this place. We went there for brunch on a Saturday based on the reviews it had. The atmosphere was cute and the menu looked good so that helped with the first impression. The Bloody Mary my husband got was great, however, the brewed coffee was lukewarm. While it was surprising, I’m not usually one to complain so I dealt with that at first. However, when the Hanks breakfast came out, the bacon was the worst bacon we’ve ever tasted and the top off of the coffee was completely cold. I mentioned this to the bartender since we were sitting at the bar and she apologized stating that it was just in a carafe and it wasn’t on a warmer. Also noticed the guy next to us didn’t even touch his fried egg sandwich, should have been a sign that the breakfast might not be that great. Overall, disappointed since it seems like it’s got a lot of potential.
I am highly disappointed in the service at Hanks. I was visiting my friend from Dallas and we decided to come here and let’s just say, the customer service here was below average. We were not greeted when we walked and after we were seated, it took 10-15 minutes for them to come to our table. After order arrived, we had to wave down the waitress to get checks, but that was the only time we were addressed after the arrival of our order. I just don’t think this was a friendly environment nor was it inviting.
good vibes but food was mid and overpriced, DO NOT get the steak because it was very unseasoned and gray. pizza was also super soggy. the only redeeming food item were the fries
We were sat down, waited for 30 minutes and weren’t acknowledged until my friend stood up and asked. The table besides us was greeted and attended to before we were even looked at even though they arrived AFTER us!! The only thing that makes this review a 2 star is that I’ve never had an issue with the Café.
I’ve been here a couple times. My wife really likes it. Decent food. Great outdoors. Arrived: sickly sweet rot smell of the bar (we all know what that smell is. Dirty mats most likely). Seated: 12 minutes later we are greeted. 5 minutes laters we got up and walked away. Go to Kirby Lane instead. Today was a failure that lost them our service for good.
The service is average, I've had better service at Applebees. Nothing happened that I could not ignore, but for them to not know their own product, and for them to give attitude about it and when I had a valid complaint, the manager even apologized with a blow it off attitude, I am not wasting my time explaining, just know that I'm used to great service, I am an amazing tipper out of respect for my hard working service industry professionals as I am too from the industry, only left 21 percent, I usually leave 40%, NOT today. My 3 year old daughter loved the place, too bad, we wont be back. I hope they learn from this one, they lost someone who would have come twice a month if what happened was handled better.
Our recent visit to Hank’s Austin was quite disappointing. The Shakshuka was mediocre, and the Eggs Benedict was a disaster—the ham was so smelly that I couldn’t even eat it. While the Latte wasn’t bad, the overall experience was marred by a severe shortage of staff. We ordered coffee in cups, but they brought it in paper cups, explaining that there were no clean cups available. They mentioned we would have to wait over 20 minutes if we wanted it in a proper cup. The Mocha, which I ordered hot, arrived lukewarm. With all these issues, I won’t be returning to this restaurant.
Ordered delivery, received a supreme pizza in the state shown in my photos. Supreme pizza had odd pink colored sauce spattered on one side unevenly. Cold and unappetizing, it looked like more the shade of pepto bismol instead of actual tomato sauce and nothing like the online photos from the restaurants Google and instagram pages. Tasted flavorless except for an oily texture, ended up trashing the whole thing. Would not recommend.
