Went for an early Valentines dinner and had an amazing time. We're big foodies and enjoyed watching the kitchen work their magic while we ate at that bar top. The soup dumplings, scallion pancake with curry and pot stickers were delicious. We had the duck and bok choy as our main which was seasoned and marinated to perfection. Topping it off with the chocolate dumplings was the perfect bite of sweet at the end of all the savory. Service was steady, friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend making a reservation as it fills up quick!
I recently dined at Lin Restaurant, and it was an incredible experience! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Our waitress, Sherry, was absolutely fantastic. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Now, let’s talk about the food – it was simply amazing! Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. You can tell that a lot of care goes into the preparation. I especially enjoyed the dumplings which was a highlight of the meal. Overall, my experience at Lin Restaurant was unforgettable, thanks in no small part to Sherry's outstanding service. I can't wait to come back and enjoy another wonderful meal! Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for great food and excellent service.
This is my favorite dim sum place! You can see them making dumplings, which is a treat for the eyes, and every bite is a delight for the taste buds. My absolute favorite dish is the ChaoShou! These shrimp dumplings come soaked in a delicious sauce, with thin wrappers and shrimp packed inside. The sauce isn’t too salty and is incredibly flavorful, making this a must-try dish! It’s already quite famous, so expect a wait and some difficulty finding parking. Reservations are a must! Although I’ve tried their second location, I find this one cozier and tastier.
Sat on the patio, which is beautiful and feels way more secluded than you would expect facing 6th Street. Our waiter was excellent. Everything we ate was outstanding. It's one of those places where every bite makes you smile. Definitely give it a try. And finish with the chocolate dim sum...it's wow.
This is easily one of the best dim sum and Asian fusion restaurants in Austin. They deliver on both food quality and customer experience. Our server took the time to explain the menu and made excellent recommendations, which really elevated the meal. The Peking duck buns were our favorite, soft, fluffy buns with rich, flavorful duck and just the right balance of sweetness and savoriness. We also ordered the mapo tofu, which had bold flavor and the perfect amount of heat. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The service was smooth, friendly, and efficient. Lin Asian Bar + Dim Sum is a top-tier Austin restaurant for anyone who appreciates great food and great hospitality.
The dumplings are terrific and not found easily elsewhere. Second visit here and made new favorites. The pickled cucumbers are an excellent cool foil to the richness of the dumplings. Reservations recommended- it is a small place with some outside seating and very popular. The atmosphere is cramped and noisy, consequently not very relaxing. But the food is outstanding and the service is friendly and accommodating.
Amazing food. A little hard to get in to due to the limited space but so worth the wait. Safe choices that have always been favorites include the soup dumplings with their amazing chili sauce, the duck pancakes, and the Dummy rice (a must!!). Everything else we’ve had has been amazing as well, so just pick something and enjoy the flavors.
We had such a fantastic experience largely in thanks to our server, Gabby. From the moment we sat down, she was warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. She took the time to walk us through options, made thoughtful recommendations and suggested great “balanced” drink pairings. Every question we had — from ingredients to preparation — Gabby answered confidently and clearly, which made us feel completely taken care of. Our glasses were never empty, our food came out just as we’d hoped, and never once had to flag her down. It’s rare to find service that’s both genuinely friendly and so professional. Gabby truly elevated our visit, and in addition to the amazing food, is another reason we’ll be back.
the food… oh my goodness. I started with the soup dumplings and they were pure magic — delicate wrappers that somehow hold that steaming, fragrant broth without breaking until the exact moment you bite. The duck dumplings followed and actually made me laugh out loud at the table because they were THAT good: perfectly crispy edges, tender filling, and a depth of flavor that you rarely find outside of top-tier spots in bigger cities. The fried rice deserves its own paragraph — every grain separate, smoky from the wok, loaded with high-quality ingredients and seasoned so well that I didn’t even reach for soy sauce once (and I always do). Portions are generous, presentation is gorgeous, and you can taste the care and freshness in every single bite. Yes, the prices are a notch above typical takeout, but when the quality is this high, it feels like an absolute steal. I left completely stuffed, ridiculously happy, and already planning who I’m dragging back here next weekend. If you’re anywhere near Austin and love Chinese food done right, do yourself a favor and go. This isn’t just another good restaurant — it’s a full-on experience that reminds you how amazing food can be when people truly care
We made a reservation on Resy at the bar and really enjoyed getting to watch them make things by hand. The server was great and helped us with recommendations on drinks and food, he did not lead us astray. Everything was packed with flavor. Really enjoyed this spot! Side note- it was very clean and had a very nice restroom which is a plus.
Our first trip to Lin Asian Bar + Dim Sum was on a Sunday morning for Dim sum. We ordered Ling's Soup Dumplings, Pork and Shrimp Sui Mai, Scallion Pancakes with Chicken Curry Dip, Spicy Yuzu Shrimp, Shrimp Stuffed Eggplant, Roasted Duck Pancakes, Steam Edd Cream Buns, Szechuan Spicy Cucumbers. All of the dishes were amazing. They came out fast and piping hot over the course of 30 minutes or so but we took our time savoring them over the course of an hour. The service was top notch and friendly. The overall vibe was very nice. It was packed but filled with lovers of good food so it was a great experience. I highly recommend!
We came here to celebrate my brother-in-law’s birthday lunch, and it was such a treat! Since moving from Houston to Austin, I hadn’t found a Chinese restaurant that impressed me—until now. Even as a vegetarian with limited options, everything I tried here was fantastic! The eggplant dish was the family favorite, but the green peas with garlic and the veggie fried rice were also absolutely delicious. Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully prepared. I’m already looking forward to coming back! Pro tip: Make a reservation in advance—this place is very popular, and for good reason! Bonus points for the super clean, modern restrooms with bidets—so fancy and appreciated! The overall vibe of the restaurant is welcoming and stylish, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommended. Keep up the great work! Cheers 🥂
We had a great experience at Lin Asian Bar + Dim Sum! This cute and cozy restaurant was a fun surprise with its unique and delicious offerings. The soup dumplings are a standout with a flavorful gingery pork soup inside a big dumpling—such a tasty reverse spin! The orange beef on their menu is out of this world. Our server, Lilly, was wonderful—super friendly and on the ball, along with the rest of the team who worked in concert. The pacing of our meal was spot on. And thank you Lilly for the coolest yet oddest dessert I've ever seen. I can only describe it as a sort of strawberry cheesecake ice cream, perfectly shaped like a sleeping cat. Highly recommend this place! Tell them the candy lady from Tampa sent you 😉
1st time coming to this place and everything blew me away! Fresh made dim sum and dumplings being hand made in the kitchen! Soup dumpling were just amazing. Atmosphere with both in and outdoor sitting areas just added to the great experience. If you are looking for good dim sum and a good spot to enjoy - I highly recommend this!
Delicious food. I’m Chinese-American, grew up on real home cooked Chinese food, and have visited China many times. Lin’s makes authentic Chinese dishes and it was so delicious!! Honestly loved everything we had here. Sat at the bar and was able to see the workers making dumplings—they stuffed the dumplings with so much filling. That’s another awesome thing about this place- the serving sizes are generous and well worth the price. Nice and clean ambience as well and friendly service.
Upscale popular Chinese and dim sum with great ambiance and excellent service. A great place to take family and less initiated friends for dim sum. It’s very popular so make reservations or be prepared to wait an hour or more. It’s upscale in ambiance and service as well so the prices are higher accordingly. The decor is on point and the murals on the side of the building are gorgeous. One of their signature dishes is their seafood soup dumpling. Think a giant soup dumpling containing a whole bowl of soup with large chunks of seafood in a rich and a flavorful broth. It looks really cool. It’s a little difficult to eat without making a mess. The regular soup dumplings were very juicy. They give you a small cup to help you eat your soup dumpling instead of a traditional soup spoon which worked out well. All the dishes we had were delicious and upscaled from more traditional dim sum. Asian owned by Chef Ling. Love to support local small businesses with a great story. Parking is a little tricky. There’s spots in the back and a lot near by with a few more spots as well as near by street parking.

Hey! Just wanted to share some advice from someone who's been coming here for years. We've celebrated a lot of birthdays and other get-togethers here, and honestly, it's all about the food! The service isn't always perfect, and I've seen some reviews mention issues with it. Honestly, I'd say there right about that – about half of the staff seems a bit disinterested. The main issue is definitely with the hostess. Honestly, they rarely answer the phone, and when they do, they tend to be pretty rude. We try to look beyond this because there is some good workers there. We love the lobster puffs, crispy jalapeno shrimp(must have), taro eggrolls with the pineapple sauce is the bizzness, and the soup dumplings is da shizz. Honestly, all the food is so good. Parking is a little tight because it's pretty limited, but they're working on it! You'll definitely need a reservation on Resy since it's always busy. However, we've been a few times without one, and they've always managed to make room for walk-ins. They also close at 3pm and reopen back at 4pm. Thanks for taking the time to read my review and Hit that love icon if it helped.
Perfect spot for a date night with the low lighting, intimate seating and elegant decor. Ordered their soup dumplings, scallion pancake, dummy rice and pipa tofu. The appetizers came out quickly with…
The food and service were great. I wouldn't call it Dim Sum as much as I would call it a 'noodle house'. You get what you order only. You don't get a variety.

While exploring Austin, my wife and I both wanted some dumplings. So we made a reservation and headed to Lin Asian Bar and Dim Sum. Lin's is a health-conscious eatery serving Chinese fare and Dim Sum…
I am pretty sure the waiters either don't see the tip.. or the house takes a percentage or something.. because the service clearly reflects that. Food was good! Dim sum, dumplings and bao buns were a hit. Jalapeno shrimp was over priced and not worth it. On the reservation I had mentioned it's my birthday. They didn't even acknowledge it, say anything or offer any dessert. So if you're going here, food is great.. just expect mediocre service.
Third time. First 2 times, food was delicious. This 3rd time it was bland and far too expensive for that level.
Food was great and beautifully presented. Service was pretty slow and the room was really crowded despite reservations. Probably not worth the large price tag for the dishes but a fun, close to aut…
10/31/25 The food was good, but it’s not your typical dim sum restaurant, there’s no cart service; instead, it’s more of an à la carte experience. For the price range, I expected the service to be much more attentive and professional. Servers seemed rushed and disengaged, rarely checked on the table, and didn’t offer refills or ask if we needed anything. When they placed dishes down, they didn’t bother arranging them properly, leaving us to reorganize the table ourselves. One server, the non-Asian staff member, even set a plate down without looking, it ended up underneath our dining towel, which also touched our food. That’s very unhygienic and unacceptable for a restaurant in this price range. Overall, the lack of attention and care from the staff really took away from what could have been a much better dining experience.
food sucked. Don't get the lobster rolls. All the appetizers suck the entrees are okay

I have always been a supporter of Lins ever since they opened the first restaurant on West 6th. I took my parents there when they visited in 2019 and they met Lins husband and found out we were from the same region. My friends and I celebrated birthdays there, big moves, life events, etc and during the pandemic I pulled up and ordered take outs from time to time. I also supported Qi, Lin at the Grove and spent my hard earned money at Lings Kitchen. It was totally disappointing and honestly disgusted to receive the type of service tonight at the original location. My parents were coming from out of town and running late so I called ahead, twice and talked to someone on the phone, informed them we would be late. The person on the phone said all good. When we showed up to the restaurant we were treated poorly by Martin, who showed us to two chairs at the corner of the bar right next to the walkway. He also didn't listen when I mentioned my mom recently had hip surgery and couldn't sit there. The worst part was when he told me straight to my face that he was on the phone all day and I didn't call him tonight to tell him we were running late. You didn't have to lie to me my guy, you can simply tell me you gave away our table and I would had felt better. Rude and disrespectful were his actions. As someone who also works in the service industry I expected more and a bit more professionalism. There were plenty of tables available on a Monday. I guess Martin didn't think my mom and I could afford or order enough dim sum at his fine 6th Street establishment. That's fine, Daisy and her team at Clarks were awesome, highly accommodating, friendly and professional, and offer a table inside with no fuss. Take your money to long time Austin establishments like Clark's, Kome, Josephine House, heck take your parents and your $ to Koriente and the staff there will treat you better, go to Pterrys and you will get better service than Martin. Visit the uncles and aunties at Ho Ho, Julie's Noodles, Asia Cafe, and Rice Bowl, good service, good food, and better experience
Although Lin Asian Bar is likely a lovely establishment with tasty food, I have to leave a 1 star review because I cannot abide poor service. The man at the front of the house did not show that he was well trained in accommodating guests. I walked into the restaurant with my party and put down our names to be seated after a 45-minute wait. But on arriving after the wait time (which I believed meant that seating had become available) I was told that the table we were given would be needed back within on hour (which was 45 minutes later). Why would I wait 45 minutes to be seated only to be told that I should rush my meal? This does not make any sense to me. And it must mean that the man welcoming guests is not properly trained. His service left a poor taste in my mouth.
