Some of the best pastor in town and the bistec is really good too. The blue corn quesadilla with pastor was probably the more delicious thing I have tasted here. The red and green salsas are also delicious, the red one is a bit spicier, just fyi. Service can feel a little slow at times, but it is worth it. The bread from the panaderia is also something to try out if you haven't before.
Tortas are large and taste great, al pastor tacos were also good, and the bakery has a big selection of authentic baked goods. You can get a ton of delicious food for a good price here.
Lots of bakery options. They do have a small selection of hot foods. But most people come for the bakery options. They do have example plates shown in the pictures below. The shop is very cute and they have piñatas hanging from the ceiling. As well as options to buy hot chocolate and authentic beverages .
My family and I have only been to this place twice, and both times it felt like we were on vacation in Mexico. And I mean that in the best way possible. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. The guests are mostly native Mexicans (always a good sign). The food is about as authentic Mexican as you can get. The variety of postres (desserts) is over the top, from pan dulces, to flan, to different tres leches cakes). If you're looking for little Mexico in the heart of Austin Texas, La Tradicíon is a must to try.
I went today for lunch because this place is hidden, but with so many social networks putting this place on. There is nothing over the top about this place, as I bought Neapolitan cake and a huarache shepherd. These two items were very filling, and the blue corn tortilla was the first time I tried it, and it was amazing! The staff is amazing after placing the order it was ready within minutes. Season well, and the ingredients will be fresh. The bakery part was huge as I couldn't leave without buying something, the bread and sweets were wonderful. This panadería is larger than what I've seen in Austin for a while and reminds me of childhood outings and going to a panadería after church. Love this place
Amazing bread! Their pan bolillo is my favorite in all of Austin. They have a large variety of Mexican sweet breads. Highly recommend. Check out is super quick, bread is hot! It’s also super cool that they have a diner connected to the bakery, so it’s a cool two in one. Haven’t tried it yet, but it looks good.
This place has amazing desserts. We purchased the tres leches cake. It was so yummy. My husband had the chocolate chip cookie. He liked it also. My favorite was the cinnamon roll. It had raisins in it. Though I really still enjoyed it. This is a great place to go for fresh bread or anything sweet. Everything we had was amazing.
I came here for their pan dulce (Mexican sweet bread). I tried a concha and a yoyo. Conchas are probably the most popular and recognizable traditional Mexican pan dulce, but for the uninitiated, I would describe them as soft and sweet bread with a white streusel topping that resembles the surface of a seashell. Growing up these were my favorite pan dulce, and the ones at Mi Tradición taste just like the ones you can find in Mexican panaderías. Much less famous, yoyos are made from two pieces of bread held together by a thin layer of buttercream and coated with butter and powdered sugar. They look like yo-yo’s, hence the name, and they’re also known as besos (which means kisses, because the two pieces of bread are kissing each other). This was my first time trying yoyos, so I don’t have a point of comparison. I thought they were tasty, but my all-time favorite pan dulce remains the concha. I bought these at the end of the day, so both were a little hard, but I heated them up in the oven and that softened them up to perfection. Warming up pan dulce is a game changer. I’ve also tried a slice of their tres leches cake. They have three options: strawberry, mocha, or durazno (peach). I tried the tres leches that comes with strawberries. I thought it was good, but not mind-blowing. Mi Tradición has a wide selection of pan dulce and you can’t beat their prices (I paid $2.50 for two pieces of pan dulce). The only downside is that none of the pan dulce is labeled, and the staff speaks mostly Spanish. Overall, it’s a great panadería. I can’t wait to try their tacos and tortas.
OMG, that $6.99 blue corn quesadilla with spiced Tinga is a party for your taste buds.. the tacos are cheap and taste good too. \n\nThe food price at this place took me back a decade.. so you can fil…

So good of you're looking for mexican food. We ordered a bit of everything. Including deserts from the bakery. Everything was fresh and so delicious. Would definitely recommend.
This is some of the best mexican food in Austin. Casual dining with an extensive authentic menu. The incredible submarino is pastor, chorizo and ham. The flautas are stuffed with white meat chicken…
Food is great and reasonably priced. Just shy of 5 stars because the atmosphere could use some improvements and I wish I could order ahead of time. Overall, I highly recommend.
I visited Mi Tradicion in search of freshly made pastries, specifically for concha. The bakery had a wide variety of bakery items as a self-serve style such as concha, cookies, muffins, danishes and other sweets. I purchased a concha, a cookie and what appeared to be a chocolate covered concha. The conchas were not very fresh to be honest, although plenty of items were stocked throughout the evening. I enjoyed the cookie though, it was a thicker, soft cookie and had a good vanilla flavour. I visited during the evening so this may have had an impact on freshness or quality. The bakery itself didn't provide any parchment paper liners or sheets to place inside the metal trays while picking out your items, so this may have been a sanitary concern of mine. Other than that, the bakery seemed clean, although a little outdated in terms of the building itself. Thank you
This place feels very authentic to me from the freshly baked pastries, warm churros, breads and more come directly from the ovens in the back. We can see so many bakers working in the back working from scratch, not the typical frozen pre-made stuff of other bakeries. Our tasty bread literally came from the oven :20 seconds before it ended in our bag, nothing fresher and better. What’s even better are the prices, so affordable. Skip your trendy shop and buy from an authentic place.
Great place for food and pastries. We ordered a few items from the menu that are made in the moment. The order takers are friendly and the guys who are giving out the food are cool. My only concern is why they don’t add any sour cream to the torta? Everything was good but the milanesa torta was made with lettuce tomato and milanesa, that was flavorless. The aguas frescas are delicious.
From the freshly made food, the menu offers plenty to enjoy. Although my cheeseburger wasn't as flavorful and was quite bland. The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy, with colorful decor that adds to the cultural experience, though it can occasionally feel a bit crowded and slightly messy. But. They really shine in its service, The staff is friendly and quite quick, even during top hours. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a regular, the team goes above and beyond to ensure you have a great dining experience. Overall, it’s a wonderful place.
We ordered Al Pastor and Bisteck Picaditas and Huaraches with Chorizo con Papa. The fillings were overflowing and delivered on flavor, and the homemade blue corn tortillas were a special treat. This was a truly unique taco experience. Overall, we give Mi Tradicion a rating of 9 out of 10.
We come here with friends on the weekends and it's always busy. I've had tortas and some of their blue corn goods and they're always very good. The chorizo can be very messy, so grab some napkins. My husband has gotten the tacos a couple of times and gives them a fair review of above average. He also always gets the horchata and loves it. The last time we went we tried some of the baked goods for the first time. My favorite was the churro heart that we took home and dipped in hot chocolate. This place is pretty solid and I'm always down for a place I can get tacos with friends.
Muy buena comida las aguas también mucha variedad de pan pero atención al cliente muy mala los empleados todos mal encarados

Everyone is incredibly friendly and helpful. I have been a customer for as long as I can remember, and the tortas are no longer as delicious as they were. I don't mind the price increase. Please do…
The pan Dulce isn’t as good as it used to be. The past few times I’ve been have not been good. The bread taste old and stale. You’re better off going to heb. It use to be soft and fresh. Idk if they changes their recipes or if they’re cutting cost with quality but definitely not what it used to be.
I came here with high hopes after reading the great reviews but was left with some disappointment. I can see how it can be good sometimes, but for me, it’s a hit or miss. The cashier was a young guy who seemed half asleep, uninterested in doing a good job, and messed up other orders of people in front of us in line. When we went up to order, I had to reconfirm with him several times our order because he kept forgetting items. He couldn’t answer our basic questions about the menu. He ended up not putting in our drink order correctly, and we had to pay again for our missing drinks. They made our order to-go, even though we ask for dine-in so we just decided to leave. We bought pan dulce and both our conchas were very dry and hard. The mantecada was moist and tasty. The agua de naranja piña was sweet and refreshing. The coffee was watered down. The torta of egg and ham was well done and yummy, so the cooks are doing a great job. The torta de bistec was not ordered “with everything” by the cashier as we had asked so it was missing toppings but still good. Overall, it was an average experience because of the terrible upfront service and so-so pan.

It was a beautiful day, I was very hungry. I've bought different foods here before, but I had never bought something called a Cuban sandwich. It's a disaster, literally, this meat is just oil.🤮🤮🤮
I love coming here with my family year after year but lately staff cant seem to get orders correct. The past 3 times I've stopped by to order over phone or in person they seem to miss details. Like no onions, or slicing something in half etc. Please ensure that theres communication between ringing up the order and prepping the orders, because theres clear miscommunication.
I stopped by during work to buy some churros, and even though I only got five, they were so dry and hard that I couldn’t even bite into them. I’ve bought bread from here before and the quality was always great, but this time I was really disappointed. I’m not sure if I’ll be coming back or recommending this place if the quality of the bread has declined this much.
