Received a wonderful coconut cake for a birthday. Moist, delicious but not too sweet!!
Workers were friendly, and my muffins tasted great. They didn’t taste a lot like their intended flavor (not very blueberry-tasting for a blueberry muffin) and were on the sweet side, but I enjoyed them nonetheless.
I always pass by this place on the road but never actually went to eat here, that is until this morning. I had a wonderful experience here I had to use the restroom because there was no others nearby so I stopped here, The Man behind the counter was very friendly and let me use the restroom which I greatly appreciate because I really needed to go. After using the restroom I figured I checked out what was available to eat here, I was focused on looking for any food that was gluten free, (because I am gluten intolerant) it is hard to find places sell gluten-free food. So I was very surprised to find out that Russell's bakery had a pretty good amount of gluten-free baked goods! I was very impressed also with the taste of the food I absolutely love the pecan and banana muffins! Definitely some of the best tasting baked goods I have ever tasted in my opinion! The staff was very friendly and welcoming to me before and after I have me purchases. So I know they were very genuine. The Man behind the counter was the one that helped me the most I don't remember his name. I will be coming back again thank you for the wonderful experience! :)
Good all over place to meet, work alone, bring kids. It's got the old Central Market vibe. Just a nice place to show up at wth some outside seating and magnificent cinnamon rolls and tomato soup. Everything else is wonderful. I just come for my two personal favorites. Instant happiness.
My family and I had a great experience at Russell's on Hancock. We went around 11:30 am on a Saturday for brunch. We were able to find a park, although the lot is small. Everything from the bakery looked fantastic, but my girlfriend and I settled on splitting a cinnamon roll and a BLT. Both were a 10/10. We also ordered a cold brew and an iced vanilla latte. This place was excellent, and I've already been back again since my first visit. I would definitely recommend it. The staff there are also very friendly.
What an adorable little bakery! They absolutely love military service members too! I went it just to grab a sandwich and salad and was honored to have been thanked repeatedly and given a discount. I went in on a different day and was surprised with a paid off tab by a kind and sweet silent military supporter. I absolutely love this bakery!! Their baked goods and treats are the best and their coffee is so smooth!! I ordered a tuna salad on wheat with a house salad with their homemade pesto vinaigrette!!!! If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. The sandwiches come fully loaded with a lot of toppings, plenty of tuna and a hearty serving of salad. They aren’t stingy with the veggies either! They keep you coming back for more with the literally icing on their cupcakes!!!! Decadent with intricate designs. The location is just Shy of 1.5 miles from Camp Mabry so you could walk there for exercise if you wanted! Plenty of parking and once inside, plenty of seating. It gets busy to so expect to wait a bit for your delicious delicate food! Smell the fragrance of the sweetness of the homemade wheat bread and baked goods once you have them in front of you. This is an experience as you rarely get homemade everything when you go out to eat! And lastly, savor every bite! I comment from Houston so this is truly a treat for me.
I got the bee’s knees and lemon tart. Both were decent, the service was great and the space was absolutely a delight. There are small dinosaurs around and the staff told me there is more seating with more dinosaurs next door! It was amazing people watching while my toddler played. There were friends catching up, a couple on a date, a study group and a family. Truly perfectly place to chill.
The staff were great and very attentive and accommodating. I had a gift certificate that was purchased from a different location and couldn't be processed, apparently you can't purchase and use at different locations but the employee was persistent in calling her manager to get it to work and we were able finally able to use this gift certificate. We purchased a variety of cupcakes for birthday celebrations, they were beautiful but the icing had a waxie taste, even the chocolate icing didn't taste like chocolate, it had a chemical taste so we didn't eat the icing, it wasn't worth the calories. However I was told that the peanut butter brownie was spectacular and it disappeared fast. The Hancock/Balcones Road location has the good old Austin vibe.
I recently visited Russell’s. From the moment I stepped in, the aroma of freshly baked goodies enveloped me, and I knew I was in for a treat. The selection was impressive, offering a range of pastries, bread, and baked goods. I couldn't resist trying their signature croissant, which was perfectly flaky and buttery. Their friendly staff made the experience even more delightful. Sweet Delights is a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth and a love for freshly baked goods. Russell’s offer lots of free parking; moreover lots of seats and tables available inside.
I went by Russels this morning to get coffee and to go pastry. As usual, there was no parking in their lot or anywhere near. I ended up going someplace else. I really like the place, but am tired of the parking issue.
Service - the hostesses at both times were not warm and inviting. A smile goes a long way Food - It’s my second time here and both experiences were disappointing. Biggest disappointment are the bakery items - stale. The Pain croissant is tough and chewy. Avoid. The coffee is decent. Had the Hazelnut Latte Atmosphere- Good atmosphere to work however make sure your laptop is charged when you come here.
It feels more like a coffee shop than a true bakery. I visited on a Saturday morning – the prime time when pastries should be fresh - and specifically asked for something baked that day. I ordered a plain croissant, but it was clear it wasn’t fresh. They offered to warm it up, just like they would at Starbucks or other lower-tier coffee shops that serve pre-made pastries rather than baking their own. For a place that calls itself a bakery, this was disappointing. The croissant had the texture of bread, not the airy, buttery layers you expect from a proper croissant. Based on that experience, I wouldn’t consider this a bakery in the true sense. As a coffee shop, though, it holds up better. My cortado was reasonably good, and the overall atmosphere inside was pleasant – relaxed, welcoming, and comfortable. The staff were friendly and attentive, which helped balance the experience. There’s also a small bar inside, suggesting they serve beer and possibly other drinks in the evenings. While I wouldn’t recommend it for pastries, it’s still a decent neighborhood spot for a casual coffee break.
Ideal place for quiet conversation, studying or working. Nice selection of baked goods and self serve coffee always ready. I enjoyed the variety of big tables as well as the small tables. The pastry I had was not as fresh and tender as I’d hoped. Got the feeling it was not made there plus it had a gooey resin I was not comfortable with.
I got the cinnamon almond croissant. It was as hard as biscotti. Like something that has been sitting on the counter for ten days. My date got the Danish it was ok but definitely not fresh. Very disappointing
The e-card thing is lame. And, it doesn't work if you buy more than one. I only received one when I purchased two. I had to run the errand a second time to correct the issue. Did not save time or frustration. A physical card is ten times better.
This is my first review, which shows how frustrated I am with this place. I've visited this bakery 4 times, and 3 out of those 4 visits have been disappointing. Every single time we've ordered soup and a sandwich, they've gotten the order wrong and made us wait 45+ minutes for pre-made soup and a basic sandwich. The most frustrating part? I watch people who arrived 15-20 minutes after us get their orders and leave. Each time, I have to go to the counter and ask about my order. Only then do they apologize and suddenly the food appears in less than 5 minutes. Keep in mind, there are usually only 4-5 customers in the entire shop when this happens. There's no reason for these delays. If asking about my order magically makes it appear in 5 minutes, why does it take 45+ minutes otherwise? For an almost empty cafe to consistently take this long for simple items is unacceptable. I really wanted to like this place, but the service has been consistently poor.
