We are briefly visiting Austin, Texas for the first time and your restaurant was recommended at the last minute by our hotel, and we are so grateful. We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary there last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. I believe the hostess name was Amanda and she saw we were a bit low-spirited and overwhelmed at arrival and made sure everything was handled with care for what was left of our anniversary. From the beautiful table, to picture taking, ambience, and a flaming baked Alaska at the end, we couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you Amanda and Truluck’s for providing an 11th hour extremely special experience.
Been here before and already loved this place but I took my partner here to propose to him at dinner and let me just say the staff was amazing at helping me coordinate this special evening. Spoke with the hostess Amanda on the phone who was extremely sweet and helpful throughout the process and really helped set the stage for what I already planned to be an incredible night. I was told by a friend that we should have KG as our server and she was phenomenal! Very attentive, funny and really worked with me to help execute my plan. We couldn't have asked for a better server for this special evening. Our food was amazing and they gave a us a nice corner table with rose pedals so we had some privacy to ourselves. I have to give credit to the whole staff because not only were all my ideas brought to life but the even added little extra details like heart shaped crab fried rice and even wrote congratulations to us on our desert after. Everyone working that night was on board and it showed and the two of us felt really special and I can't thank the whole team enough for night the gave us. It was magical down to every detail. Highly recommend this place for any occasion and they will deliver! High suggest asking for KG as your server though because she truly was incredible! As far as the food goes we had the Kind crab which was great. My partner had an amazing ribeye that was so juicy and tender and seasoned to perfection. I had the lamb chops and I'm a sucker for lamb and these were amazing! A perfect mid rare and full of flavor. Highly recommend both but if you are into sweets then you HAVE to get their carrot cake! It's huge and without a doubt the best we've ever had. 10/10 all around! Thank you again Trulucks! We will absolutely be back!
Last day of our Trade show we treated ourselves to a tasty meal at Truluck's! Worth the investment of time and money. Will definitely go again.
This restaurant is one of my favorite fancy restaurants in Austin. The service is impeccable. It is the best service I’ve ever experienced. The staff are so knowledgeable about every single thing on the menu. It’s such a wonderful experience and treat to dine here. The food is delicious. Everything is cooked to perfection. The desserts are unique and creative like fruity pebble cheesecake. The lighting is beautiful by highlighting the food on the table, yet soft on faces. Highly recommend for a romantic date, anniversary, or special occasion.
There is a moment, somewhere between the satisfying crack of shell and that first taste of sweet, cold claw meat, when you understand why people make pilgrimages for stone crab. At Truluck’s in downtown Austin, that moment arrives with theatrical precision. The Florida stone crab is sustainably harvested and delivered from the traps to your table in less than 24 hours. This is not marketing hyperbole. This is logistics as love language. The claws arrive on crushed ice, coral and obsidian shells glistening under crystalline chandeliers. No pretense here, no overwrought sauce threatening to mask what needs no masking. Just pure crab, served a la carte as nature intended. The meat offers that singular texture, firm yet yielding, with a sweetness that speaks of clean Florida waters and exacting standards. But here is what separates Truluck’s from the merely competent: our server, Kiana. I have dined in three-Michelin-starred establishments across four continents. Kiana belongs in that conversation. She possesses that rare gift of making attentiveness feel like friendship rather than surveillance. Her timing was impeccable, arriving tableside at precisely the moment a water glass neared empty or a question began to form. When she recommended a handcrafted old fashioned, there was no upselling in her voice, only genuine enthusiasm. She was right, of course. The cocktail arrived balanced and refined, the kind of drink that reminds you why classics endure. What distinguishes Kiana is presence. She remembered our names, our preferences. She transformed dinner into experience. In an industry plagued by turnover and indifference, she is the reason regulars return and first-timers become converts. Truluck’s would be wise to build a statue in her honor. Nestled in the Warehouse District at 3rd and Colorado Streets, the restaurant occupies a reimagined two-story space with a wraparound patio and panoramic skyline views. This could be one of the most beautiful restaurants in Austin. Live piano music drifts from the bar at a civilized volume. The stone crab season runs October through May. These claws are by far the best in Austin. Is it expensive? Certainly. But consider what you are purchasing: claws that travel from trap to table in 24 hours, served by people who understand that a meal like this is celebration. The stone crabs are worth the trouble. Kiana makes them unforgettable.
Trulucks is perfect for that special night out and the price point is matched by the quality of the food and the service. The atmosphere is romantic and refined with live piano playing and singing. Sitting at the lighted marble bar is a treat, both for the music and the view. The 3 course holiday events, such as for New Years, are especially divine and fun. The steak (ribeye/filet) and chilean sea bass are consistent winners although I tried different entrees in this specific reviews. The cocktails are expertly crafted and the seasonal creations are a special delight. I've been eating here for over two years now and the service of both the restaurant staff and valet is commendable. A member of our group accidentally dropped some money on the ground while entering our car at the valet station and they immediately called us. Social distancing/ mask precautions are followed and if you aren't comfortable with dining in, the takeout is a good option. The food is well packaged and is as delicious as always. The service, food, atmosphere and location, make Trulucks a must! Update: Their menus have been updated to include an LED screen background which makes them easier to read and the food was as good as ever, this time I enjoyed the Sesame Tuna.
Fine dining at its best. Celebrated an anniversary here and from doorway to dinner table we were greeted and congratulated at every interaction. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable. Paired our wines and offered recommendation based on our cravings that day. All staff worked together to maintain decorum (things like maintaining place settings, napkin folds, and always clean tables). The food tasted immaculate and was exceptionally prepared and served. I look forward to going back for future meals and celebrations.
Exceptional staff, unforgettable food and special atmosphere. From start to finish this dining experience was 5 stars all around. The hostess was attentive and welcoming, the waiter knowledgeable and generous (comp'd dessert) and the food was out of this world. Their stone crabs were amazing, the oysters on par with most places, the sea bass melted in our mouths, the steak perfect, lobster bisque unique yet spot on...loved it all.
I’ve had a lot of birthday dinners but trulucks definitely takes the cake on best birthday dinner I’ve ever had! Between the signed card from staff and the baked Alaska I could have cried lol. The food was amazing and the staff was so pleasant. Our server Donald explained the menu items extensively and really helped us make our choices for dinner. The spicy blackberry margarita and stone crab claws was the highlight of the night, but the steaks were also so flavorful and cooked perfect! Thank you for making my birthday so special in such a beautiful restaurant! This is a dining experience I would recommend to anyone, and I will return every time I come back to Austin.
I truly had a great time here at Truluck's from the time I arrived, until the moment I left. Everything from valet parking, to checking in for our reservation, to being escorted to our table was very personal, warm and welcoming. Josh was our server and he was great. Very knowledgeable of the menu items and was very attentive to us. Riley (managing partner) also visit our table due to hubby vehicle having some issue in valet. The situation could have been stressful, but he ensured my husband had a relaxing and great time with a complimentary drink. Now the food... OMG! D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S!!! I cannot complain about anything. The bread melts in your mouth. The shrimp cocktail was amazing. The salmon was nicely prepared and cooked very well and taste very fresh. I tried my husband steak and it was cooked to perfection, with the right amount of seasoning. I didn't try my sister dish, but it looked yummy. The calamari I forgot to snap the picture because I was too busy stuffing my face. Last but not least, dessert, (which I failed to take a picture of as well) was from the cheesecake gods. By far the best I ever had. Well I lied, the other Truluck's have great cheesecakes as well from heaven. So I say they are a tie! That's my review. I MUST visit restaurant!!!
Seafood was fresh and flavorful and the Brie mac and cheese was very creamy, with the breadcrumb topping asking a little crunch for depth. Don't forget to leave room for dessert, there's a marshmallow one they light on fire! Parking can be crazy, but valet is available.
We had dinner here for my wife’s birthday. First the service is impeccable. Very attentive, professional, and friendly. We tried the stone crab for the first time. Big crab lover, but being from the west coast where Dungeness crab is the usual we weren’t that enamored with stone crab. Everything else was absolutely lovely. I had Texas Redfish and my wife had Branzino. They topped it off with a tables side baked Alaska. Also thought the backlit menus were so cool!
5 star experience all around. We made reservations here for our 5th year anniversary. It was a rainy night and upon arrival the host took our umbrellas from us and led us to the staircase to the upper floor where they had a table with a beautiful view of the city reserved for us. Our waiter R.J. Was magnificent in explaining the specials, and allowing us to take our time to decide what we wanted. We ordered the salt and pepper calamari and tuna tartare. They both were very different dishes in themselves. The tuna was so fresh great for a lighter feel. The calamari was warm and a little heavier, good for fall and winter time. They did have some delicious yeast rolls as well. With just those we were already full. We decided to finish with an espresso martini and coffee. They were so awesome bringing us a baked Alaskan dessert for our anniversary. Can't wait to come back here.
I decided to try out Truluck’s for my 10 Year Anniversary and I can now tell you from experience you will not be disappointed! The service is definitely over-the-top but by no means overbearing. The food….literally every single bite was phenomenal in quality and taste from start to finish. Honestly, for what we paid I believe we got more than our moneys worth for a restaurant located in a downtown area - drinks especially! My only complaint is that I can’t do it all again tonight!
Came here with my wife for our anniversary. Service was excellent. All our food was delicious. The meatballs were amazing in flavor and melt in your mouth. The crab cake was the best crab cake I have ever had: almost no breadcrumbs and pure crab meat. My branzino and my wife's redfish were excellent. Even the salads were big and delicious. For desert we had the ice cream cake, it was amazing. 5/5
It’s hard to beat Truluck’s when you’re looking for an old school upscale seafood restaurant vibe. Sure, they don’t have a piano player up front anymore, but it’s still just as classy, delicious, and service is always impeccable. My regular order here are always the crab cakes for an app, miso sea bass, husband gets the Alaskan king crabs, and carrot cake for dessert. Price.. it’s going to cost you $$$$ esp for the 1lb of king crab. But it’s always worth it! You even get a giant loaf of bread to mop up your tears if you’re sad about the price!
I recently celebrated my birthday at Truluck, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the thoughtful ‘Happy Birthday’ card on the table to the excellent service from Sean, every detail was perfect. The food was absolutely delicious, and the environment was top-notch, making it one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Austin. Highly recommend Truluck for any special occasion or just a great night out!
We arrived in Austin on the evening of our anniversary which was on a Friday. We called to see if we could get a table even though open table stated reservations were not available. Andrew told us he would check for any cancellations and would contact us within 20 mins. Andrew was true to his word and contacted us and gave us the good news that they could seat us. The staff was excellent and all wished us a happy anniversary. The food was superb!! Best seafood dishes I have had in a while. Perfectly seasoned. Then they ended our evening with a Baked Alaska, great presentation and supper yummy! There was also live music. Truluck made our anniversary so special. Thank you so much for the experience.
The food was 10/10. The lovely staff and the guys at the bar were amazing. Oh my the cocktail 🍹 was great, just asked them for something nice and they will do the job. The world-class carrot 🥕 cake for dessert will give you a taste of heaven on earth. It was delicious. Value for money or you can opt for the happy hour as well.
Unbeatable staff ~ super friendly, nice and professional. Food was amazing and chief accommodated a special order for our little guy. Room is nice and warm, but not too noisy. Lighted menu and check was a nice touch. Stone Crab was as good as any you’d get in Florida, | personally was impressed that they gave you a size selection regarding to Stone Crab. First Class Restaurant, First Class Staff ~ well worth it.
We had such an amazing experience! Our server Jimmy was absolutely outstanding! He was knowledgeable about both the menu and the wine pairings, and his recommendations were spot on. It’s rare to find someone who combines professionalism with genuine warmth, but he made the night feel effortless and special. Truly one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a long time!
If I could give more stars, I would double it. Will took fabulous care of us for our 26th anniversary! We were greeted with roses, rose petals, candlelight and a personally signed card from the staff waiting at our table. We had the calamari and it was perfect! The Petit Lobster Scampi and Redfish Ponchatrain were to die for but the biggest treat was the surprise Baked Alaska that Will set up for us. The entire experience was so special and personal, I highly recommend all of it!
This was our first time at Truluck’s; it was a great first experience. Our server (Niko) was new but he was great. He was attentive, engaging, and polite; his suggestion for how to construct our seafood tower appetizer was spot on. The appetizers satisfied my seafood craving, so I went with a NY strip for dinner; it was cooked perfectly . My wife had the Branzino fish (also recommended by our server), it too was good. The sides (truffle fries and roasted broccoli were nice compliments. This isn’t a place you’d frequent often (it’s not cheap), but I can’t think of a better place to satisfy a seafood craving. 👍🏻👍🏻
The start of the experience is the moment you walk through the door. The atmosphere is elegant. From the layout, the colors they use and the lighting. The service is great. Then the food exceeded my expectations. Then the dessert comes! Every bite was delicious. Then they leave you with a surprise dessert to go.
Went here for our anniversary and our experience was amazing! To start off, the hostesses greeted us with the sweetest smile and even congratulated us on our anniversary. We were then walked upstairs to the second floor and were again greeted by the restaurant manager who was very kind and welcoming and he also congratulated us. He was so attentive and just amazing overall. Our table was decorated with rose petals and a “Happy Anniversary” sign which was the sweetest touch! One waiter came with our drinks and he was a gem, whom, of course also congratulated us! Our waiter Colin, was absolutely amazing. He made us feel welcome! He always checked up on us, he described the items on the menu which such detail, he was just overall very kind! Colin brought us a dessert for our anniversary and it was such a great way to end the night. First time here and will definitely be coming back because the customer service and the food was simply out of this world! 10/10! Espresso Martini: 10/10 Lobster bisque is amazing!
Amazing experience from the minute you pull up to the valet. The host staff was friendly and engaging. They took us up to a beautiful patio. Table fans and misters made eating outside delightful and very comfortable. The light up menus were fantastic. If you are visiting on the weekend, ask for Bradley. We let Bradley guide us through the menu. We started with a Terlan Pinot Grigio, N/A Berry Patch, and a Viola. Truly perfect picks! We started with the Ahi Tuna Tartare and Jumbo Lump Crab Cake. Both were exceptional. I switched to Bradley's other suggested cocktail Tru Story. So yummy! After Bradley's highlighting of the menu we wanted to try it all so we chose to order the Petit Miso Glazed Seabass and the Petit Scallop & Shrimp Saute and the 1/2 lbs of King Crab and the side of Mac & Cheese. The Seabass was phenomenal. The Crab Fried Rice is sensational. The 2 paired together is off the hook. The scallops were amazing, and if you were served the Florentino cauliflower "rice" without being told it was cauliflower, you would never guess. It is so flavorful. The King Crab was great and served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. As we were sharing all the dishes, we only had room for one bite of Mac and cheese before packing it up to go, but we're so glad we ordered it as it was excellent as well. The service was top-notch and friendly without being overbearing. The manager welcomed us and checked in throughout our meal, and although we had no issues, I am confident that if even the smallest glitch were to happen, he would be aware and address it immediately. He really made us feel like he cared about our experience. That is very rare these days. We are huge foodies, and eating great food is our hobby. With the attention to detail Truluck at every turn, the price paid for the meal was an exceptional value! I will definitely be back.
What a lovely place for some excellent seafood. It had been a while since I visited Trulucks and I hadn't tried this spot so I decided to check it out. No complaints! Everything was nicely done, from the service to the drinks. The apps were all spot on, the lobster bisque was deep/spicy and the ribeye was amazing. Everything on the menu is worth a try and will not disappoint. There wasn't room for dessert on this visit but perhaps next time. Highly recommended for a date night or just a special meal.
With so many amazing places to eat in Austin, we are so glad we decided on Trulucks. We just had one of the best dinners we have ever had. Matt was fantastic tonight, service was beyond perfect. 💯 The food was out of this world. Lobster everything!! The bisque was perfectly seasoned and they put the bisque over the lobster right in front of you! Filet was cooked perfectly. And the carrot cake was (no exaggeration) the BEST DESSERT I have ever tasted. We also loved the live DJ. He was playing late 90’s/early 2000’s hip hop which was super fun + made the whole experience feel a little more laid back (but still super elevated). LOVED EVERYTHING!!
First and foremost, I had a wonderful time here! The second time I came here was to celebrate my birthday. Wayne went above and beyond to make me feel extremely special and catered to! Savannah was extremely kind. The hostess (unfortunately I cannot remember her name at the moment) but she was extremely sweet to me as well. Alex, the service manager, also passed by to wish me a happy birthday. I love the attentiveness that exists here at this restaurant. A lot of the times, as a customer in a restaurant it isn’t just about the cost or the meal but the quality of the experience. Even the staff that weren’t directly attending to me were warm and welcoming to me throughout my dining experience. So, now the reason we are here to review—the food! For my appetizer, I chose to the lobster bao. I enjoyed the flavor as well as the temperature. The bao was well prepared. I underestimated how delicious it would be. The lamb chops were cooked EXACTLY to what I asked for and the flavor melted in my mouth. The stuffed lobster tails had excellent flavor and texture as well!! 10/10 experience! Looking forward to returning ☺️
Took my husband here for his birthday dinner. Our host for the night was Tarkan. He was absolutely wonderful and made some spot on suggestions. The caviar was ✨DIVINE✨. We never had baked Alaska before and it was heavenly. The presentation, the food, the atmosphere were all great. The restaurant manager Robert made sure we were well taken care of. From entrance to exit, we had top notch service and treatment. Definitely enjoyed our dinner date and look forward to visiting again in the future.
Beautiful food presentation.More than adequate portions. My daughter and son-in-law lost a beloved 11-year old husky dog. It was a memorial dinner for them. Our waiter, Curtis, wasnt just empathetic, he was exceptionally knowledgeable, efficient, kind, and generous with a baked Alaska. A true gentleman. He made dinner an experience.
Delicious salads & Manhattans. The service is stupendous! The singers & pianists are fantastic! A great place for conversing with friends, family, and dates. It's pricey & worth it. The salads & lobster bisque are excellent choices! The menus are lit nicely for ordering. The new location is luxurious & vast.
Collin was a wonderful server! He told us what to order and described each dish. He was wonderful ❤️ 💖 the food was unearthly wonderful. The carb cakes chefs kiss 😫. Omg a time was had. The restaurant was gorgeous (Christmas decor). I will be back. Next time I want sit in the 2nd floor. The crab cakes were too fresh 😋. And the oyster were delightful. The shrimp and scallops were wonderful 😋
This place is so wonderful. We came here as a party of 3 adults 1 small child and 1 infant. We did not realize we needed reservations, the valet called in upon our arrival and got us a table in the lounge..we were totally okay with this. We were quickly greeted by Jasmine who was a complete angel throughout the whole experience. She was knowledgeable and attentive the entire time. We had drinks that stayed full and tasted great, our appetizer came out perfect and our entree was not rushed. Dessert was a chocolate cake KING sized and so tasty. Added a couple scoops of ice cream. We will most definitely be back in the future. Thank you Jasmine and the entire staff for making everything amazing tonight.
World class. Awesome food and awesome service in a clean, vibrant, and comfortable space where the music is not terrible or played too loud. Professional staff with a team of two waiters catering to our every need. Delicious hand crafted cocktails. The jumbo stone crab claws tasted fresh and were served cold. There are few dishes better on the planet. Served with a large side of pan-seared broccoli. A unique take on broccoli. A simple, but delightful dish. This is how all restaurants should be.
I reserved via opentable and put in the notes that I was having an anniversary. When arriving, the host greeted us and wished us a happy anniversary. Their were real rose petals on the table for our anniversary. The entire dinner was delicious and the service was the best I’ve ever had. Their cocktails were amazing. The dessert was free and had a custom message celebrating our anniversary. We had 2 waiters and the manager was also continuously helping remove dirty plates and refill drink orders. I received a call from the manager 2 days later following up on our dinner to make sure our anniversary went well. Truly one of the greatest dining experiences I have had in 35 years.
Words cannot even describe the experience that one gets at Truluck’s. I came here to celebrate an anniversary and they really made sure that everything was taking care of. As someone who experiences anxiety planning special events, I could not believe how perfect everything was. From being greeting and congratulated at every turn, to the stunning views, aura, and staff, Truluck’s came through in every way. Our booth was huge, and spacing was enough to feel like you had your privacy but had enough background noise from live music to other guests having conversation to provide some nice background noise. Our servers were knowledgeable and courteous. Food was absolutely incredible. I’ve travelled quite a bit and this was the best dining experience I ever had. If you are planning an anniversary or any special event, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO! Will definitely be coming back.
My Mom treated me to a lovely dinner while visiting Austin for a Girls Weekend! Truluck was AMAZING! The Lobster Bisque was out of this world, and the king Crab Claws…. What dreams are made of! Fabulous drinks, amazing service, and beautiful ambiance! Shout out to our wonderful Waitress Kaitlyn!
Friday Oyster Happy Hour in the bar. 5 plus. 5 dozen perfect oysters. Love this place. Classy and upscale fun. Stayed for Lobster Thermadore. Beth was outstanding. A must stop when in Austin for Friday night. Get here at open and ask for Beth at the bar.
If I could give this place more stars I would. Great menu, excellent service, bourbon selection is top notch. Tuna was hands down the most amazing I've had. Food was excellent and atmosphere is what you'd expect although I wish they'd enforce their dress attire more. Nothing but the best when you dine here, worth every penny.
Would definitely come back here again and highly recommend! Great for celebrating or a very nice dinner. Really liked the Sonoma greens salad, lobster bisque, stone crab claws, and crab cakes! The crab cakes have A LOT of crab in them. The fried rice was a little on the sweet side. Love that u can do a full or petite size of the desserts and entrees. Great service! They gave us hot lavender towels after we ate the crab, and they had a mini chair for our purse that matched the regular chairs. Like this location better than the other one in Austin and even in Chicago. Pretty decor. Bar is lively.
Truluck's Downtown in Austin is hands down my favorite restaurant, and my recent birthday celebration there with five friends only reaffirmed this. From the moment we walked in, the experience was nothing short of spectacular. The ambiance of Truluck's is refined and welcoming, setting the perfect tone for a special evening. We were warmly greeted and promptly seated, instantly feeling like valued guests. The service throughout the night was impeccable – attentive, friendly, and professional, ensuring that every detail was taken care of with a smile. The food was phenomenal. Every dish we ordered was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. The flavors were exquisite, and the quality of the ingredients was evident in every bite. The seafood, in particular, was outstanding, fresh, and delicious. Coupled with expertly crafted cocktails and a well-curated wine list, our dining experience was elevated to new heights. Parking, often a hassle in downtown areas, was surprisingly convenient at Truluck's. It made arriving and leaving the restaurant stress-free, allowing us to focus entirely on enjoying our evening. To anyone seeking a top-notch dining experience in Austin, I can't recommend Truluck's Downtown enough. Whether it's for a special occasion or simply to enjoy an excellent meal, this restaurant delivers on every front – food, drinks, service, and ambiance. My birthday celebration was truly memorable, and I look forward to many more delightful evenings at Truluck's. This is the place to be for a fantastic dining experience in Austin.
Truly one of my best seafood restaurants in Texas. The food is amazing, the drinks are fantastic and the service is impeccable. My wife loves the oysters, she said they are delicious. I had the salmon platter and it was just amazing. From the front help to the busboys, this restaurant makes you feel special. Delicious food!
Had an amazing anniversary dinner here with my husband, the service was very attentive and thorough and made our anniversary even better! Our server (I believe his name was Justin) and all the staff made our night very special and even gave us a card! The food and drinks were also all delicious and we loved the baked Alaska! We look forward to coming back
Celebrated our anniversary at Truluck’s Austin downtown location and it was an unforgettable evening. The Trout Amandine was absolutely delicious, perfectly prepared and truly memorable. The staff was generous with their attention, knowledgeable about every detail, and made the entire experience feel special from start to finish. Highly recommend for anyone looking to celebrate a meaningful occasion with exceptional dining.
A very good dining experience. Excellent seafood. Excellent petit filet mignon 'flight'. Excellent drinks. Overall, a 4.5-5 star dining experience. Quibbles: centerpiece crab claws served cold were 'good, not great' for the price tag. Oysters and champagne vinaigrette were stellar. Portions were suitable, but not large. Except for desserts, which were excellent and large servings. Prices were on the higher end of what would be expected for a quality meal. Atmosphere was busy on a Saturday night, but not too loud. Reservations are a must. Edited to add: Service was outstanding. We celebrated my daughter's early birthday, which they acknowledged with a card and a delightful baked Alaska.
My husband ans I had dinner at Trulucks, it was our first time going and we completely loved it. The atmosphere, the service, the food everything was amazing. The restaurant is beautiful and elegant. The staff is very professional. Our server was Tessa and she was amazing I will definitely ask for her every time I go. She was knowledgeable, sweet, and very attentive. I think this has become one of our top favorite places to go eat at. I recommend it 100%.
We drove from San Antonio to Austin to have dinner at Truluck's to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday 🎉 and Truluck's did not disappoint. We were running a little late, about 20 minutes late from our reservation time, and I was prepared for the restaurant staff to give me a hard time from running late, but they did not. To my surprise, the staff were welcoming and very friendly! We were escorted to our table, and the rest was history! Our party of 16 had a great time! The food and the service were excellent!! I wished we had more time to eat more dessert, but our limo was waiting to take us back to San Antonio! Another party in the restaurant wanted to join in with our celebration! 🥳
We love this place! It's never been anything short of stunning. It's been recently renovated and relocated - not that it needed it. You'll always get what you pay for which is why we are frequent flyers here. We grabbed a few drinks from the bar before we celebrated my husband's birthday dinner. I love that they give birthday cards signed by the entire staff. 💞
We had an incredible experience at Truluck’s Austin on Saturday night, and I truly can’t say enough good things about the team. We walked in without a reservation on one of the busiest nights of the week (Saturday!), after leaving another restaurant where the food just didn’t meet expectations. Annie and Bella at the front were absolutely amazing they somehow got us a table as soon as possible, which felt nearly impossible on a Saturday night. Their kindness, professionalism, and urgency completely set the tone for our evening. Sergio, our waiter, was outstanding. He guided us through the menu, helped us choose the best dishes, and made sure everything was perfect throughout the night. His service was warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful. To top it all off, the roses on the table were a beautiful surprise and made our anniversary dinner feel truly special. From start to finish, the service, food, and attention to detail were exceptional. Truluck’s turned what could have been a disappointing night into a memorable anniversary experience. We’ll absolutely be back — and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for top-tier service and an unforgettable evening.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Truluck’s Ocean’s Finest Seafood in Downtown Austin never disappoints! From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly — making the evening feel effortless and relaxing. We grabbed seats in the bar area, which had an inviting, upscale vibe perfect for a late-night bite and cocktails. The fresh oyster selections were outstanding — briny, crisp, and beautifully presented. The cocktails were just as impressive, perfectly balanced and crafted with care. For food, we shared the Tuna Tartare, Calamari, Lobster Mac and Cheese, and Lobster Fried Rice — every dish was exceptional and ideal for sharing. Each bite was flavorful, fresh, and elegantly prepared. Truluck’s is the perfect spot for a nightcap or a light dinner with a touch of sophistication. Can’t wait to come back!🍸🥃🦞🦪
This was hands down the greatest dining experience of my life. Everything was top notch. We were in Austin to celebrate a wedding so we went the day after the ceremony with the happy couple. From the moment we walked in, they made us feel special. We were seated and the server, Curtis, brought over a handwritten note signed by the entire staff well wishing the two on their marriage. My wife had a purse and they even brought over a tiny chair for her to place her belongings on. It was unreal. Curtis is inarguably the greatest server I’ve ever had. He was thorough with his descriptions, answered any questions, and was there when needed and didn’t linger whatsoever. I was beyond impressed. The food is amazing. This should go without saying. Every dish we ordered was worth writing home. We had the shrimp cocktail, ribeye, lobster tail, potatoes au gratin, brie mac and cheese, branzino, baked Alaska, key lime pie, and the carrot cake. I can’t complain about any of it, it was all top tier. We will happily go back when in Austin. Thanks to everyone at Truluck’s but especially Curtis, dude is the G.O.A.T.
We showed up an hour early to our reservation on accident and the host sat us anyways and was so nice to us! They surprised us with an anniversary card and rose petals on the table. Our server even got us black napkins to match our outfit so we wouldn’t get white fluff from the white napkins on our dresses. We felt like royalty the whole dining experience. We had a three course meal and everything was a 10/10 I’m very honest when it comes to the food but everything we got had flavor and the prime rib melted in my mouth! They made our anniversary extra special. And the live music brought a nice ambience. They gave us an off menu baked Alaska for dessert special for our anniversary. Definitely coming back for special occasions!
Great atmosphere and service, the best part of our dinner was the lobster bisque!!! Hands down one of the best ever. my husband and I both had the redfish ponchotrain and we're a little disappointed. The fish seemed overcooked and the rice that it comes with was not the best a little dry, but my son got the ribeye and he thought it was cooked perfect and we had creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes as our sides and they were yummy. The Grey Goose martinis with homemade stuffed blue cheese olives were perfect and we had a very nice bottle of wine.
Truluck’s was the perfect spot to celebrate our anniversary. The staff went out of their way to make the night feel special with added touches such as a card with handwritten signatures and a delicious complimentary dessert. The food was excellent and the new location and decor is Beautiful!
Wow, talk about an incredible experience. We had heard about this restaurant because of the Pay It Forward event, and finally made it here. From the moment we walked in, we felt so welcome. The service was spectacular and the food was delectable. Even Truluck's employees who weren't assigned to our table wished my husband and I a happy anniversary, we felt SO special. We plan to return before next year. Don't hesitate to try this place out!
Fiancé and I went there for our anniversary and it was a treat! The table was set up with rose petals and a cute personalized card that read “Happy Anniversary”, we appreciated the detail. We had Leena as our waitress and she was SO knowledgeable, she recommended a few things for us and we were beyond satisfied. I like the new place too with more natural light. We will come back to this place!
We had a fantastic experience to celebrate my husband's birthday. Our server, Brooke, was very knowledgeable and made great recommendations. The seafood tower was very fresh, the shrimp cocktail was really good, my seabass entree was delicious, as well as the rest of the food. Also, valet is the way to go if you do not want to worry about parking! Thank you Chef Alejandro for taking great care of my group. Looking forward to returning soon!
I visited for my birthday, and it was my first time dining at this establishment. From start to finish, the experience was fantastic! We began with drinks, and mine came with dry ice, making for a cool show. For appetizers, we had the caviar pairing with tequila and the crab cake. The caviar was absolutely delicious, and I especially loved the potato that came with the dish—it was incredibly flavorful. The crab cake was one of the best I’ve ever had, with no filler, just pure, fresh crab. We also tried the stone crab, which was another excellent choice. For my entrée, I ordered the ribeye (medium), Oscar-style, and it was cooked perfectly. The steak was well-seasoned, juicy, and massive! The Oscar-style topping added a wonderful seafood complement to the dish. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and melted in my mouth. To end the night, we enjoyed the ice cream cake, which was complimentary for my birthday—such a thoughtful touch! The ambience was beautiful, the decor was elegant, and the staff was incredibly professional and accommodating. Our waiter was amazing—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. I’m from San Antonio and visited Truluck’s as part of a staycation for the weekend, but I’d definitely make the drive back for a day trip—it’s absolutely worth it! Highly recommend!
FABULOUS dining experience for our Girls Trip! Great food and drinks, excellent service, and perfect seating on the upper level outdoor patio overlooking downtown. Our host, Katelyn, took care of our every need and treated us like we were her only customer. THANK YOU! The crab claws are definitely worth ordering to start your meal. Lobster Bisque and Little Gems Caesar, amazing, but everything was great. Definitely will be frequenting Truluck’s! Love this place!
I’ve been here multiple times and I have never gotten around to leaving a review. I always receive 5 star service. Went here for my dates birthday. It was his first time at this location and he loved it. The decor is absolutely beautiful. The restaurant has a very luxurious classy ambiance. The servers are very knowledgeable and trained well. The food is delicious. Every single dish I have gotten from Truluck’s has been perfect. The carrot cake is so good you won’t want to share. They only have valet and if you don’t want to valet you have have a short walk from the garages. I highly recommend this location.
Food, service and ambiance were exceptional. It was my first visit and i will definitely recommend this location.

The best seafood in austin. My friends and I went out for an engagement party and the server was incredible. The apps were a great portion for sharing.
The food was phenomenal. We got stone crab claws, tuna tartare, meatballs, and oysters. Down a star because the last thing we ordered was oysters.. from the time we ordered them to the time we got them it was around 30 minutes of wait time and our server completely ignored us. My boyfriend even ended up pouring me the rest of the wine himself because we weren’t even checked in on in that time. Oysters were also small for the price. Everything was great up until the end, sadly.
For vegetarians, there is only one option for an entree - cauliflower steak. It's a large piece of cauliflower that is slightly roasted on the top & bit of sauce on the plate. I enjoyed the ambiance, the impeccable service but not the food. It was meh. I may accompany friends but not for food.
We ate here for an anniversary. The staff was so nice and attentive and already knew about our anniversary. The salad and crab shrimp cocktail were amazing. There was so much food that we took half of the appetizers home. The shrimp and trout were equally delicious. They brought us a complimentary baked alaska for our celebration. I’m not a fan of sweets, but I ate half of it even though I was full. I’m adding to this review since we ate here again last night. Unfortunately, I have to downgrade them to 4 stars. The prices for our food was way too much. My crab cake appetizer was delicious, but small and $24. I chose the petite plate of scallops with mushroom risotto. I only got two scallops. My husband ordered the trout again and was satisfied with it. A glass of wine was overpriced.
Good high end restaurant with focus on fish. The dishes were well presented. Our truffle fries came with the main dish rather than as the appetizer but could have been a case of misunderstanding. We did like the taste of the food and will visits again. A pretty extensive bar with all type of spirits.
Truluck’s is a fantastic spot for seafood lovers looking for a memorable dining experience. From the moment you walk in, the elegant yet inviting atmosphere sets the stage for a great meal. We started with the jumbo crab cake, which was packed with fresh, tender crab and had a perfectly crispy crust. For our main courses, we ordered the sesame-seared tuna and the redfish Pontchartrain. The tuna was lightly seared on the outside, melt-in-your-mouth tender on the inside, and paired with a flavorful sauce. The redfish Pontchartrain was beautifully cooked and topped with a rich, savory sauce that made every bite satisfying. Truluck’s offers both petit and large portions, making it easy to choose based on your appetite. The large portions are generous and definitely filling. For dessert, we tried the chocolate molten cake. While it had a deep, rich chocolate flavor, it was a bit too sweet for our taste—the petit size was more than enough. Service-wise, our experience was decent. The staff was polite, but the attentiveness could have been better. That said, the delicious food and upscale yet comfortable ambiance made for an enjoyable evening.
This is a beautiful restaurant, and the experience and service were outstanding. However I apparently ordered the wrong thing. I chose "Trout Amandine", because in my experience trout with almonds is rarely offered and it's a dish I love. But my dinner featured a couple of very thin slivers of almonds and a huge pile of capers -- not what I expected, not trout amandine. I didn't say anything or send it back, I just don't like to do that, but it was very disappointing.
The service was above and beyond great , the Service Manager was very knowledgeable of all aspects of the restaurant. My wife found a piece of lobster shell in the bisque soup, I ordered the 16oz ribeye cooked rare without any or toppings , when it arrived it something like a butter topping on it , the replacement steak was perfect. I'm not sure if the waitress wrote the order wrong or the Chef read the order wrong . In conclusion the staff went out of their way to make everything right. It was also our 41st Wedding Anniversary. We were also hoping to have a quiet dinner but the noise was louder than expected but you cannot blame the restaurant for that. In conclusion I would highly recommend this restaurant and I will eat there again. Sincerely Mr Carroll U.S.Army Ret.
A very nice upscale fine dining restaurant. The service was friendly and professional. I ate at the bar, and the bartenders were very accommodating. The food was very good. I started with the Stone Crab claws and the Trident Royale Caviar Service. The caviar service is below par considering the $165 expense. The caviar was tasteless, and the blini and potato chips were a little disappointing. So, don't waste your money on the caviar service. The Scallop & Shrimp Sauté was my main course, and it was great.
Truluck’s is the kind of place you pick for a special dinner when you want everything to feel dialed in. The service is polished without being stiff, and the pacing makes it easy to actually enjoy the night. Seafood tasted fresh and high-quality, and the crab is the obvious standout—sweet, clean flavor, and served the right way. Cocktails were well-made, and the room has that upscale, classic vibe that works for dates or celebrations.

Well, what can I say… it started as a wonderful night at this place(a party of 6), the service was excellent and the cocktails were AMAZING!! But as it progressed we had some issues with the air conditioning being a little cold for one of our party, we asked Donald, our server. Another issue was the long wait to get our main dish. One of my guests complained to Donald but he response was not appropriate in any way to trying to solve the problem or make (her) the guest happy. My issue was the African lobster tail being a little over cooked. I honestly have had better lobster at other places. It wasn’t moist or soft like I was expecting. If it wasn’t for the way Donald handled the situation, and the A/C not being addressed, and the My lobster was a little over cooked … I would totally give them 5 stars.
I hope that one day they will change their portion size of Caesar salad. I order from here about once every week. The salmon is the best in town but please change the portion size of the salad. It …

The food and service were just ok, not what we were expecting for the price. Do not order the crab stuffed tomatoes ($42!) the tomatoes were hard and didn’t taste like anything and the crab wasn’t …
The server was great and the venue was lovely. However, the food was below expectations. We had the salt & pepper calamari as an appetizer batter was too much and the accompanying sauce was too sweet. Our main s were the sea bass (a solid block, not light and flaky as it should have been), and the petit lobster (accompanying pasta was gooey, too oily and missing the expected "heirloom tomatoes"...quite disappointing.
I sat at the bar and received the worst service ever while everyone around me was getting good service … I spent over $120 and the treatment I received was very disappointing . The short hair woman bartender gave me water and just didn’t come back to take my order when she heard I wasn’t drinking at the time. I had to flag someone down to order ( once I did they didn’t check on me ) the sides I ordered with my steak were salty . and for the check super disappointed by that experience as someone who works in hospitality management.
For a restaurant that considers itself fine dining, the front of house professionalism was disappointing. The hostesses came across surprisingly unpolished and we got an earful of gossip, which set the wrong tone from the start. The food was fine and our server did a solid job — But the manager’s table check is what made the evening uncomfortable. Chris lingered awkwardly and didn’t seem to read the room. My wife, in particular, felt uncomfortable during the interaction, which is why I’m writing this review. At this level, that shouldn’t happen. It’s also hard not to compare this to the old downtown Truluck’s. The previous location had warmth and character that fit Austin. Since the move, it feels more corporate and pretentious, with a noticeable dip in overall hospitality. The soul that once made it special feels gone and apparently that’s due to Stuart Sargent, according to Chris. I would suggest better restaurants like Jeffrey’s or Barley Swine if you’re looking for fine dining
We had reservations to celebrate Valentines as well as our anniversary. Due to weather and streets closed off for a marathon the next morning, we arrived 15 mins late (I called ahead to let them know). Instead of being seated in the restaurant that had LOTS of open tables, we were seated in the bar area. Ok, that’s fine, our fault we were late. However once seated we were given a menu with only 4 items by the hostess. When we asked the bartender if that were the only items available we weee then given 1 menu to share. Great, we selected our items from the regular menu that we wanted. 30 ins pass. We are still sitting there. My wine glass is now empty. We start to try to flag down one of the bar staff to no avail. 45 mins pass, I finally get up to tel the hostess we are not very pleased with the lack of services. My husband still has to flag down a waiter who was waking through the bar to take our order. This restaurant was NOT very busy! . 2 hrs later we had finally given up only eating a salad and appetizer. Was really looking forward to some lobster but we have other ola es to be and cannot believe the Terri Ke service we received. This use to be one of our go-to restaurants when in downtown Austin. We will not be back.
The service and atmosphere were wonderful. We’re not usually the type to send food back — if something isn’t right, we typically just don’t return. Our appetizers were great, but unfortunately my entrée arrived cold and some of the noodles were hard, as if it had been sitting too long before being served. That part was disappointing, especially since everything else about the experience was so enjoyable.
We visited for the Thanksgiving special. The portion sizes were generous definitely more than enough for one person. The overall food quality was good, but most dishes were pretty bland. The pecan salad didn’t have any dressing and felt more like a bowl of chopped vegetables. The cauliflower soup was okay but lacked flavor. The turkey was juicy and well-cooked, and the stuffing was fine but nothing special. The cranberry sauce was very sour; it would’ve been much better with a bit more sweetness. The desserts, however, were all fresh, delicious, and definitely the highlight of the meal. The restaurant’s décor is really nice and creates a pleasant atmosphere.

I was expecting an expensive restaurant, so I was also expecting an awesome meal. We were greeted and seated, server was friendly and gave us recommendations, one of which was a seafood tower then we looked over the menu. My wife asked for a drink but was told they don’t have it, the server gave us water and we were not asked if we want anything else to drink. The water was worse than bottled water so I assume it was faucet water. We ordered our mains and got the seafood tower as recommended to share for the starter. We were also asked if we want the complementary soup or salad with our main. Seafood tower comes out, it has dry ice steaming out dramatic like and consists of 6 oysters, 5 shrimp and 2 stone crab claws. They were all very bland and washed out, no flavor, not even any salt and there was no salt on the table to salt them ourselves. We got our complimentary salads which were good, then our main came out. Wife got the king crab and I got the blue stuffed lobster tail. Both came with small side of mash and asparagus. The king crab had some flavor and was good. The lobster tail was stuffed so flavor was the stuffing but I’d call it undersize and who ever caught it should get a citation. It was my wife’s birthday and they also brought out a dessert for her which was nice. So the service was good except we didn’t get any drinks, the best part of the food was the complimentary salads and dessert. The seafood was no better than you buy from Walmart. And the sour part of the meal was the bill. The seafood tower starter was not on the menu and was charged as if it was 3 starters costing $85. The king crab was on the menu but was marked as market and cost $175 for just 2 legs. The complementary salads were not complementary and all up with tip and parking we spent $450 for 2 people. I wouldn’t mind spending that if the food was extraordinarily good but unfortunately I have to say your food was not that.
