Our service Nallely was the best, she made the experience amazing, she is indeed an asset to this restaurant. We did try their happy hour omakase and it was pretty good. Their scallops in butter are also delicious.
Easily one of my favorite restaurants in Austin. There’s so much I loved here- the food of course and the staff is amazing. They’re so helpful and recommend the best food ever exactly according to our preferences. When we went in hoping for a vegetarian tasting menu, they initially said they don’t have it but our server came back after discussing with the chef saying they’d be happy to create one for us. Can’t wait to go back and try their desserts since they were sold out the other day.
Uchiba is absolutely delicious. We were impressed by how many dishes are available and how accommodating the menu is. The inari maki was a standout—crispy tofu, avocado, and red kosho with the perfect balance of texture and flavor. But honestly, the true star of the night was dessert. We almost never order dessert, but the black sesame ice cream sounded too intriguing to pass up—and it absolutely delivered. The sweet-and-salty combo is perfection. We loved it so much that we went back two weeks later just for drinks and the ice cream, and we’re already dreaming about it again. Great service, cool vibes, and really yummy food. Don’t skip the ice cream.
It was my sister and I’s first night in Austin and we are so happy we decided to make a last minute reservation at Uchiba! Our server Rita and all the other staff made this dinner exceptional! Rita’s attentiveness to our pallette & her reccomendations were a great pairing. We loved her vibe and kindess! We thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated how each server explained each dish when it arrived to the table. The music was very mood fitting and made the ambience top tier. Oh! & the food was amazing! From the sweet potato tempura, yuca chips with edamame hummus, and hamma chilli to start! Then you can’t go wrong with any nigiri! Highly reccommend everyone to make a stop here! Also, they have amazing heaters in the patio & offer blankets! pictured below one of our favorites of the night, hirame (flounder) nigiri! (Thanks to Rita!)
Amazing sushi and great bar energy. Sit where you can people-watch. Favorites: hirame #1, hamachi #2, madai #3. Would order all again. Scallops were sliced & okay (he loved them). Skip the chicken and steak skewers! —odd, slimy texture. Pork potstickers were crunchy/greasy; fine for a group. The brussel sprouts were good, but just a filler. Strawberry tequila drink was good but too sweet. The espresso cocktail we made up was better.
Uchiba Austin delivered an outstanding experience, made even better by our incredible server, Naelly. From the moment we sat down, she was warm, attentive, and genuinely hospitable, making us feel welcomed and well taken care of throughout the entire meal. Her generosity and thoughtful recommendations elevated the experience, and she went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect without ever being intrusive. Exceptional service like hers is what turns a great restaurant into a memorable one, and we’ll absolutely be back because of it.
Came for happy hour, stayed for everything else! Happy hour is a quick turn, ensing at 5:30. Favorite dish was the wagyu dumplings (non-happy hour). The perfect soup + dumpling flavors. The onigiri are a wonderful twist. Meat on the outside, rice on the inside. We were trying to figure out which sashimi to get, and the bartenders were so helpful in guiding us through the menu.
We had an amazing Sunday lunch at Uchiba in Austin, and it was easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in the city. We made a reservation ahead of time, and everything from check-in to the final plate was seamless. The service was warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered a variety of dishes, and every single one was standout. The Tiger Cry Bao was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The Ba Burger was surprisingly bold and packed with umami. The Donburi Chicken Thigh was comforting and deeply satisfying, while the Tokyo Shoyu Ramen had a clean, savory broth that felt refined yet familiar. The karaage was beautifully crispy and tender. For sushi lovers, the Bluefin Otoro and Hamachi were melt-in-your-mouth perfection—fresh, buttery, and expertly prepared. We also enjoyed the Kankitsu sake, which paired wonderfully with everything we ordered.
This review is primarily their lunch special. My partner got the $25 lunch prix fixe menu. We got a full sized Hama chili (iykyk) which immediately made the special worth it. Amazing cuts of hamachi paired with orange slices - this one always hits. For the main, we got the hot fried chicken which was decent. It was a bit overly saucey and salty but the chicken itself was juicy. The sorbet was peach and was a refreshing way to end the course. I ordered the ba lunch with a burger ($38) which came with a sesame salad (delicious!), a handroll, and 2 nigiri pieces. The nigiri was sockeye salmon and akami; pretty basic but still very yummy. The burger was an American Wagyu - pretty standard but still very yummy :) Lunch aside, Uchibā is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in Austin. Contrary to many opinions, I don’t think it’s “too expensive for what it is”, considering what the going rate for nigiri pieces a la cart is at other mediocre spots. I’ve spent birthdays here, celebrated my engagement, and just swung by casually whenever I had a sushi craving for consistent and delicious food.
I can’t say enough good things about our experience!!! Our server Duvie was INCREDIBLE and made the night so much fun and we loved his recommendations. Highly recommend the fried milk and watermelon desserts! I wish I remembered all of the dishes we got but the pork dumplings and salad on the starters were amazing. I would also recommend getting one of the pairings because they’re so cute and fun! I went with the martini and oyster. Yum! And I believe we had a sea-bream that was paired with pear? GET IT! Life changing.
I want to update my review because the manager personally reached out and invited us back for another dining experience — and I’m so glad we returned. This visit was night and day compared to the first. The food was just as fantastic, if not better, the second time around. They kindly gifted us the pork belly with apple sauce, which was phenomenal, and we finally got to try the fried milk. It exceeded our expectations and is honestly one of the best desserts I’ve ever had — I just wish there were more of those delicious fried milk balls! What impressed me most was how the staff went out of their way to ensure we had a truly memorable evening. Their hospitality and attention to detail meant so much to us, and we’re beyond grateful for the care they showed. Uchiba has definitely won us over — incredible food, top-notch service, and a team that really values their guests.
uchiba is temporarily running their $25 lunch special where you get a three course meal for $25. You get to choose between a very hearty full sized appetizer, a pretty hearty entrée and get a scoop of their rotating sorbet for dessert. I have had this meal three times while I’ve been running this special and it’s been off the charts every single time. Kind of wish we didn’t have to say goodbye to this amazing deal. Aside from the food, the service here has been absolutely amazing every single time. The first time we went there our server surprised us with a free, pineapple, popsicle, dessert. And the second time we visited the service sent us home with a $15 voucher to come back for. Every single time I’m out there. I feel so spoiled not just because of the free surprises but also because I get to hang out with some of the best serving staff in Austin. Hoping to be back one more time before the lunch special is gone for the summer .
Great food and the service is Top Notch. We sat at the chef’s table where we interacted with the sushi chef and he made recommendations on our food as it was our first time there. And I love the tasting menu style of serving cause we get the experience of trying multiple different dishes. And they were absolutely amazing. I do want to give a shout out to Justin, I believe he was our chef and super cool guy.
Great date night spot! Vibe was chill, service was efficient and thoughtful, food was delicious and presentation was simplistic and beautiful. Recommendations from our server, Amy, were great. I forgot to snag a pic of the Uchiba salad but it was honestly the best salads I’ve ever had. The added crunch from the hazelnut and crunchy rice bits was unexpected and took it to the next level. If you are looking for an elevated spot with casual vibes, give it a go! You won’t regret it.
An incredible lunch spot—so good I came back twice in the same week! The food here is absolutely delicious and an amazing value. I originally came in for lunch and was so impressed, I returned two more times that week just for the lunch special. The service was excellent every time—friendly, attentive, and respectful of our pace without making us feel rushed. It does get busy during lunch, but for good reason. Honestly, this might be the best lunch special I’ve ever had. I really hope they keep it going into the fall! My current obsession is the sesame ramen salad—so flavorful and fresh. I also loved the Hama Chili. The Crying Tiger bao bun and Uchi burger are must-tries too. The pork dumplings were fried with a very distinct flavor—not exactly what I expected since I thought they’d be more traditional, but still interesting to try. The atmosphere is consistently beautiful, with soft lighting and modern touches that make the space feel both stylish and cozy. I’ll definitely be back for more lunches soon—this place is such a gem!
Absolutely incredible experience at Uchibā From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome. They were incredibly knowledgeable, took the time to explain each dish in detail, and their friendly, interactive approach really elevated the dining experience. The food? Just amazing. Uchibā is clearly pushing boundaries with their flavor combinations and presentation. You can tell they’re passionate about experimenting with ingredients in a way that feels both exciting and thoughtful. The ambience was calm, elegant, and beautifully designed—perfect for a relaxed evening out. Highly recommend Uchibā for anyone looking for something unique, delicious, and memorable.
Wow! So impressed with the delicious food and the amazing service 🤩 A must visit in Austin. We sat at the sushi bar and Tyler did an amazing job picking out delicious dishes for us. Each dish was better than the last. The fish had so much flavor and was so fresh and well seasoned. Also special shout out to Jeff for helping us out with our drinks. Can’t wait to come back! 😋
Went for a wonderful happy hour and had the best experience! We did the omakase dinner for 2 and it was $90. Most of the dishes on the menu were nigiri or sashimi - if still very tasty. My favorite was the dessert that was just incredible for being an ice cream bar. I was blown away by this ice cream bar - the best flavor and crunch. We added the aged seabream and this was good but nothing too crazy. I highly recommend the omakase and the orange wine on HH! Can’t wait to come back!
I had a good experience at Uchiba overall and enjoyed the food, though I wasn’t completely blown away. They do offer some solid vegan options, but the experience had a few drawbacks. I was seated at the sushi bar, which I didn’t mind, but as a vegan it’s not exactly impressive to stare at a wall of refrigerated raw fish. It was also pretty loud, and sometimes hard to hear my server who was working behind the counter. I started with a drink: the old fashioned with Japanese whiskey was light, delicate, and excellent. For food, the yucca chips appetizer was very good, and the eggplant bao was awesome (though not fully vegan). The menu created some confusion: the online menu clearly lists vegetarian/vegan options, the paper menu does not, and some dishes marked “vegan option available” apparently couldn’t be made vegan. That led to a slightly awkward ordering process. From the sushi bar recommendations, I tried the watermelon nigiri, mushroom nigiri, and tofu avocado maki. Everything was good, but the mushroom nigiri was outstanding, possibly the best vegan sushi I’ve ever had. The tofu avocado maki, on the other hand, was a bit odd, with brown avocado that took away from the experience. For dessert, I went with the strawberry sorbet. It leaned more toward shaved ice than sorbet, but it was creative and refreshing. Unfortunately, it took about 25 minutes to arrive. Overall, a mixed but enjoyable visit. I’d definitely come back to explore more of the menu, but when it comes to vegan sushi specifically, I’d probably lean toward other spots in town.
Downtown sushi place. Stylish atmosphere, I'd like to call is upscale americanized sushi. Busy place. Maybe a hip place for many youngsters, but I'd prefer little more toned down air. Fish was fresh, and well prepared. Cooking was unique and creative. Well seasoned and flavored. Often, too much spice or sauce, but some would really enjoy the unique approach. Depend on how much authenticity you want in your sushi. It is a nice place for Austin downtown.
We were really excited to go to Uchiba tonight, but we were disappointed with the food. My daughter said, "I can honestly say I have felt more satisfied after taco bell" 😭 At one point both my husband and daughter looked at each other and said the rice tasted like HEB sushi rice. We liked our hand rolls, the salmon nigiri, and the tomato nigiri, but it wasn't really amazing when you think about the price. We ate a lot of different things tonight. We went to Blue Fin on Brodie a fews ago and it was much better. The server, although very nice, didn't even seem to like the food. The space is really nice and it's a shame, this could have been so much better. Photo of one of the things we didn't like. So in order we liked Uchi best, then Uchiko, and Uchiba is in last place. I won't even go into detail about how bad some things were because that would be mean.
My partner and I tried to order to holiday omakase at home set for take out. We were told on the phone that because we were using a gift card, we had to go order in person (even though the website said we needed to call with a gift card). We waited about an hour for the take out. The omakase at home showed the “Ichi”box(a $95 value), with karage, brussel sprouts, and a pint of ice cream included. What we got was more aligned with their “Kaiso” box(a $65 value). So instead of 12 pieces of nigiri and two rolls, we received 4 pieces of nigiri, two of which were very browned avocado, then 6 pieces of sashimi and a single roll.
