Walk up to the window inside the bar and get ready to get your mind blown! The calamari was perfectly golden and served with a sweet and spicy sauce that I'm still thinking about. Went for the nachos and paid $9 more for blackened craw fish, a worthy splurge. The bar you dine in had a killer happy hour, too. Definitely worth a trip downtown!

Definitely the best hush pups in town! I had the tilapia tacos and they were delicious. I probably didn’t need two since one is pretty filling but I still ate it and enjoyed every bite 🤤. The lady who took our orders was super friendly and cheerful!

Delicious Kiss Yo Mama Tacos! These are bacon wrapped shrimp based tacos and they are delicious. The red beans and rice side is ok. I recommend adding some hot sauce after you taste them. The jalapeno hush puppies are ok.

Took the Salmon Po Boy and Sweet Potato Fries. You can order from inside Lavaca bar and sit at one of the tables and they will bring the food straight to you. Big portions and tasty.

Best blackened fish tacos ever! Ever! Anywhere! During the year we lived in the Austin area, we tried the snapper, cod, halibut, and sea bass -- all blackened -- and all were incredibly delicious!! & those same blackened fish on a salad are also just as fantastic (pro tip for the salad: order an extra side of their cilantro ranch dressing -- it's that good!!) Update, 2022: We are happy to report that the blackened cod tacos and blackened cod salad were both (still) extraordinarily delicious!! This is a not to be missed place in Austin for eating! Right up there with Franklin's.

Wow the snapper is amazing! I got 2 huge filets for like $20. Unfortunately, they don't have corn tortillas, but if you order tacos with no tortillas, you get all the ingredients as shown in my picture. The 6 layer dip was also great. It could easily feed a party of 4.

You would not think this place has some of the best tacos in Austin, but it is true. My favorite thing to order here is the Ribeye Steak tacos. Oh my goodness! They have so much flavor, the steak is blackened but not burned. There's really nothing else like it around. It is so worth the price of about $18. Sometimes they have it cheaper for a lunch special too. It's just hard for me to order something different. I love it too much! Will be back again and again.

They're close. I like the menu options, grilled cod was a good piece of fish. Problem is everything was nuked with salt. The fish, the corn, even the fries. Just insane amounts of salt. Will try again at some point to see if it changes.

Paid $25 for two tacos and thought, this better taste like Poseidon himself grilled it. Spoiler: it did. The blackened mahi-mahi tacos were absolute bangers — fresh, juicy, and loaded like they’re trying to smuggle flavor across the border. I ordered from the street-side window like a sketchy dealer, but you can also order inside Lavaca Street Bar, where the vibe is “your uncle’s basement if your uncle owned 37 TVs.” Dark, divey, pool tables, sports on every screen — it’s like stepping into a time warp where the only currency is ranch dressing. Bonus: they’ve got a patio out back if you wanna eat your tacos while judging people walking by.

Very friendly staff, exceptionally tasty gumbo. It was served VERY hot and fresh, so it was weird that the chicken and rice were a little hard. I mixed everything up well then waited about 15 minutes before I started eating again. After that everything was perfect 💖 Would absolutely eat there again.

We decided to go here because it was one of the few food places that was open after a Tuesday night ACL event . Just as other reviews mentions, this place is expensive . Two fried shrimp Po-boys and a side of Cajun curly French fries was about 60 dollars, with tip . Po boy was about an 8/10. Fresh vegetables, good bread. Shrimp could have been a little more meaty and maybe better with a different breading , but very decent . French fries came out hot and fresh. 8/10 also. I was mostly impressed with the service . One gentlemen was so good at anticipating our needs , keeping us informed, and just doing his job well. Always going above and beyond . I recommend if you are close by.

For $19, a sandwich better be incredible. I had the cod po boy. It was really good but about 1/3 of the fish was undercooked. The rest was under-seasoned. I was too hungry and in too much of a time crunch to send back. With small side and top chico my meal came out to $29 before tip. For a walk-up window these feel like crazy prices, but maybe this is just how things are now.
