We had the most amazing time. It felt like we had been transported somewhere tropical and that we weren’t on busy S 1st. Our waiter was so attentive and friendly. We had the guacamole, trio of salsas, and ceviche to start. I highly recommend them all. For entrees we split and shared the birria, eggs Benedict, and wagyu taco and it was all delicious.
Been wanting to go to Nomade for awhile. My birthday fell on a Monday so I said you know what I’m going to try the happy hour taco tasting. Was blown away with the atmosphere, service, and the taco tasting. It was genuinely like a Michelin star experience at a happy hour option. Which made it even more special. The cool part is I asked about a crudo dish in a coconut and the chef gave it to us free on the house. I quickly replied, “OH MY GOD THANK YOU!” it’s actually my Birthday! Which just made it even more special. Just shows you how caring and attention the staff has about the customers. I highly recommend!!!!!! Trust me on this one hidden gem!!
Went for the Friday Lunch and ordered from the Prix Fixe Menu. It was a rare beautiful January weather day in Austin so we sat on the patio. Walking in it was like being in a nice beach side restaurant in Mexico. If you closed your eyes the cars on S 1st almost sounded like waves. The service was excellent the food was very good. I highly recommend.
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. This place was so neat, and the service was extraordinary and so was the food. Anthony was our server, and his service was over exquisite. Other servers also came by to chit chat which we appreciated and they were all so warm and friendly. I don't live in the area, but if I come back to Austin, this will be the first place I go. It was truly an amazing experience. Thank you!
Got Thanksgiving dinner here and loved it! They offered a prefixed menu with à la carte add-ons. The duck panucho was the best I’ve ever had, and I tried Malbec for the first time—instant love. Dessert was delicious, and the ambiance was beautiful: lots of greenery, elegant decor, and such a warm vibe.
We came for the Thanksgiving 4-course tasting menu and it was such a relaxing, delicious experience. We also added the pork belly, which was absolutely worth it — rich, crispy, and full of flavor. The duck panucho had a bit of heat to it, but the black beans mellowed everything out perfectly. At first we thought the portions might not be enough, but the pacing of the courses actually made the meal feel just right. The short breaks between plates gave us time to chat, enjoy the atmosphere, and let everything settle. By the end, we were pleasantly full. The outdoor seating was cozy with heat lamps, soft music drifting around us, and an overall calm vibe that made the whole meal feel special. Drinks were beautiful and refreshing, and every plate was put together with care — the cornbread and butter, the Caesar with squash, the turkey with forbidden rice, and the seasonal tart were all highlights in their own ways. A great spot for a slow, thoughtful meal where you can enjoy both the food and the moment. Definitely recommend trying their tasting menu!
Four of us enjoyed a wonderful evening here. The atmosphere is magical, like being in a restaurant created in the midst of an island jungle. Very cozy lighting and seating and you can hear each other talk. We shared many appetizers and tapas and had some delicious mezcal drinks and “light as a feather” tres dolce. Looking forward to dining here again soon!
The host Damaris was super sweet and kind, she also gave me her recommendations. The server Cameron was also very great and attentive. It was a great place to dine, I loved their guacamole and their tres leches cake. I would definitely come again. I got a seat outside and loved the vibes and fresh breeze. The drink was very strong, and it was very sweet.
I reserved a large table during brunch hours for my husband’s birthday, and our experience was fabulous! Our server was incredibly attentive, making sure everything ran smoothly. The food was absolutely delicious, and the building itself is beautiful, full of charm and character. It was the perfect setting for a special celebration!
Went to Nomadé for brunch and we loved it! The atmosphere was super chilled, the service was great, servers are super friendly and the food was phenomenal! Everything is authentic Mexican food inspired and the flavors were spot on. They also have great cocktails and drink options! I highly recommend this place for brunch.
Very, very interesting decor, done in sort of a Mediterranean style. I liked it, but the club music playing in the background seemed inapproriate for the vibe. It is quite open with little, if any closed off areas. We went on a chilly morning, yet the heaters took away any hint of the cold. The waitstaff was very friendly, casually dressed and took pains to say nice things to us upon our departure. We went for breakfast and had a carafe of French Press coffee which was bold and very smooth, 2 Wagyu Tacos and a gluten free waffle. The torillas were small, but each had so much on them, I could only eat one and they gladly packed thge other to go. I wish I had noticed it came with pickled onions. Aside from that, I really enjoyed it. One reason we came here from North of Austin is they are entirely gluten-free and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her waffle. It is offered with a nice fruit variety, but we requested just the kiwi for dietary reasons. Overall, it was a good experience.
I have been eyeing Nômadé since they opened- curious and attracted to the thatched roof and Mexican beach vibe. Overall, they delivered on flavor and presentation getting the approval of a chef, travel advisors and a self-pronounced food critic 😆. We tried almost everything on the menu and would love to try the rest. Great birthday dinner and a great addition to the south Austin food scene. Highlight dishes: -Hamachi ceviche with pineapple -Duck Pancho with interesting apricot pairing -Camarones -Recado crusted fish taco A couple snags: -There was a large party that rented out half the space which may have been why our food was delivered one on top of another. Table was packed and food got cold since it is impossible to yet things that quickly. Might have tasted better hot. -Plates were delivered but not bussed—-> I consistently was stacking my own and passing them to servers. -Multiple dishes were served on chipped plates. I was honestly very surprised by this considering the quality otherwise. -Tuna tostada had an oddly strong flavor that I did not find appealing. -Octopus texture was alright, but the flavor of the sauce overpowered the meat. -In a town full of barbacoa, this one was lackluster.
What a tasty spot, and so great that it's completely gluten free! Let me explain the 4 stars for service: our server was great but some of the dishes took a very long time to come out. The food was all very good, especially the habanero salsa. I would definitely go back, and I recommend it, but definitely go at happy hour because some of the tapas, though delicious, aren't worth menu price
We went here for a friend’s birthday brunch. Service was polite, the ambience feels special - like someplace you might go to holiday. Knocked off one star because the one menu item that I was really excited about, as a vegetarian, were the veg/vegan Birria tacos - a few minutes after we placed the order, the server came back to let me know that they didn’t have any jackfruit for the veg tacos. So that was disappointing 😞. Hoping I can come back another time when they do have the tacos! The menu is priced similar to any other nice looking restaurant in Austin that serves brunch. Reservations are recommended although we did see a lot of open spaces on a Saturday late morning. They have their own parking lot behind the building with a capacity of maybe 10 to 15 cars.
Worth a shot given all the great reviews, but we all left a bit disappointed. The food is decent, and I really appreciate that they don’t use seed oils, which more restaurants should follow. Unfortunately, we found all the dishes a bit too similar, and also a bit too familiar. The barbacoa tacos for example - not particularly elevated in flavor. Only elevated in presentation and price. The octopus was nicely charred but overcooked and too dry. The duck tostada was ok, with the duck lacking much flavor and the beans inside the tostada being too dry as well. The conchinita pibil enchiladas (they used a different name on the menu but they were definitely enchiladas) tasted like basic Tex mex you can get all over town for half the price. The yellowtail crudo was the best dish by far - and the only one that was actually a success. The churros for desert fell apart when you touched them. So, although we really wanted to like this, in the end we wouldn’t come back when you get a more flavorful meal at Torchy’s for 1/4 the price.
I want to Nomade for a birthday dinner. It was a fun atmosphere and they had amazing cocktails. I was underwhelmed by the food primarily because there’s so much good Mexican food in Austin. The tacos and the meat were all very good and the desert east tasty. I would probably rather spend my money at Fonda San Miguel but none the less this place is good just not great. Fun vibe for a birthday dinner and the staff was incredible!
