Wonderful Gyros and salads- the American dishes looked delish too. Desserts were AMAZING! Super happy to have this close by!
My family (13) gathered on Saturday afternoon for dinner and drinks. We were so impressed with the food and happy hour drinks. The service was terrific. The owners came by several times to check on us. Jordan our server was so attentive, friendly and kept the food and drinks coming! We really enjoyed our first time visit and will be back!
Came in for an early dinner and was seated outside in a shaded area with fans which was perfect. Halli was our server and she was a gem! Very personable and attentive, with great recommendations. Food was delicious and the drinks made by Shay were on point. Great experience overall and we will put this on the list for our rotation of places to eat.
We live in the neighborhood, and go here often. The food is consistently good. Small but diverse menu, great atmosphere! Plenty of outdoor seating too.
The food is always amazing! What brings us back is Shay! We love that she always knows us and what wine we want. She’s very friendly and makes the experience so much fun!
The service at this restaurant is truly exceptional and some of the best I’ve experienced in quite some time. I visited this past weekend with my young daughter for brunch and was warmly greeted by the staff. Throughout our meal, I couldn’t help but notice the attentive care shown not only to patrons but also to the staff. The owner was actively engaged with both guests and employees, ensuring everyone was well taken care of. Another leader, whether a co-owner or manager, demonstrated the same attentiveness. What stood out most was hearing this manager ask a younger staff member if they enjoyed working there, all while maintaining an upbeat, encouraging demeanor. That level of care and positivity toward both customers and employees is something rare to see these days and it left a lasting impression. Kudos to the entire team for creating such a welcoming and uplifting dining experience.
Absolutely love this neighborhood spot! I’ve been a patron since they opened, however I am a 2+ day a week regular here now that the new owners have revamp, redesigned, and renewed this fabulous spot! Join the Email list & thank me later- we look forward to receiving the updates weekly as they are hysterical and always in keeping with current events and happenings around the area. For example, satellite is opening early on the first day of school for all of the parents who survived summer. Absolutely love the staff here – Shea, Jordan & Dusty are awesome! Super friendly & can handle a full restaurant with no issue. If you love live music, I highly recommend checking out their weekly live music lineup specifically the Thursday night residency. I rarely miss a Thursday! Food recommendations – You can’t go wrong with the calamari, the lettuce wraps, The queso, the crab Stuffed Avocado salad, the icy wedge topped with bacon, Or any of the entrées. I’m still praying they’ll bring back the famous orchid chicken. If you have a chance to pop by for brunch, definitely order something with the scalloped potatoes as your side. Absolutely everything is delicious on the brunch menu and the most specials can’t be beat. Anyways, now I’m hungry so I’m gonna head up to satellite for happy hour!
I got the shrimp and coleslaw. I personally thought the coleslaw was a bit dry but it wasn’t too bad. My husband got the brisket burger I think it was with an egg. It was so good I ended up eating some of his and he ate some of my shrimp I was jealous his was so good lol I will get that next time. My daughter got the Mac and cheese which was really creamy and good. She loved it and I always try a bite to make sure it’s not too hot for her. She loved it. Their calamari is really good as well. Server was nice as well. Nice spot for lunch.
Be serviced by the best waiter yet in Austin. His name is Jet and he is absolutely the best ever. But so are the rest of tge crew like the cook himself, who will bring your food directly from the grill. We had an enjoyable experience and they treated us like royalty, especially me, the daughter of the Most High God!
December 2024 Fall 2024 lunch food features was still available where the trees outside have finally turned fall colors. I ordered the Maple-Braised Pork Carnitas Tacos and even though considered a starter it was just enough. It was two regular sized tacos loaded with delicious pork with spiced apple slaw on top of it. It had great flavor and fulfilling. The staff was finely as usual and great adult place to hang out at. December 2023 This time I ordered the Texas Redfish Tacos and sat at the bar. They were splendid and the fish had great flavor. These tacos were packed with ingredients with a big avocado slice. It was a great lunch item and enjoyed it very much January 2023 Satellite is on our regular restaurant rotation for lunch where the food and service has always been excellent. On this unusually warm winter day I ordered the Mighty Greek Gyro Salad. I recent seem to been ordering salads from restaurants so decided to try one of theirs. The menu stated its a choice of marinated chicken (I selected) or lamb, Greek dressed field greens, cucumber, picked red onions, black olives, pepperocinis, and other ingredients. My salad arrived and look very presentable with two large pea bread pieces slid a bit into the salad. The chicken was soft and had great flavor to my mouth. The mixture of the rest of the ingredients all went together and enjoyed this salad. What I most like about it was of all the salads I recently had this one was much different and placed into a deluxe category in my book. I enjoyed it very much.
We sat outside because the weather was perfect that afternoon. The wait staff was quick, responsive, and friendly. We ordered the salmon and the beef tenderloin and both were excellently prepared. I was a tad concerned about the sauce for the salmon as many places will make it too acidic, but it was perfect - flavorful without being overwhelming. Likewise the rice pilaf wasn’t greasy from the sauce and the dish was both filling and refreshing. The beef tenderloin was tender as well. My only complaint would be that some of the stalks of asparagus were so fibrous to not be edible, but this complaint was not enough for me to remove a star.
New menu, not good. Brunch is now 2 options only - why even offer it? Can't even do pancakes? The choice of sides are the lunch/dinner ones, so should I get French fries or a salad with my omelet...? This place has potential but right now it seems to be going downhill, which is unfortunate because it's one of the few south Austin restaurants. It was noticeably humid inside while we were there (why is it humid indoors). Customer seated behind us was complaining about the menu/interior to the server too, felt bad for him, probably heard that from all the repeat customers lately. Bonus: photos of the food for online ordering are clearly AI generated!
First time eating there, very disappointing experience. I can understand and allow grace for one or two things, but unfortunately my whole experience was a mess. Briefly: I was served a broken glass for water, two wrong drinks, the wrong side on main dish, and overripe/blackened avocado in my dish. Not appetizing, unfortunately. It seemed clear there are staffing issues and servers were struggling. The host told us there is a shortage of menus when the restaurant was not full. Our primary server never checked on us; we had to flag down other staff for a new glass/the right beverage/correct side. I hate complaining about this stuff but it seemed like systemic issues were happening. It’s a bummer. I won’t be back.
Overpriced, food was good, not great. Service was lacking. Workers are all dressed in very casual clothes, some in clothes I’d only wear in my own house and weren’t very welcoming or friendly. Our waiter took our order quickly and was kind but not very social. He didn’t ask if we needed anything else after bringing our food, didn’t do the usual checkin 5-10 minutes later to make sure everything was good and didn’t ask if there was anything else we needed when bringing us some mayonnaise we asked for, just quick to drop it off and leave. The both times we needed something, once for the mayonnaise and once to remind him we were missing pita bread we asked for, we had to call out to him, it wasn’t because he was checking on us. When we left no one said thank you for coming or come again. Just did not feel like an experience worth $103 dollars (3 entrees + 2 alc drinks (each $11)) i won’t be returning or recommending it to anyone. I wish we went to Jack Allen’s instead, they serve food that’s worth the money and with larger portions.
My wife and I went for dinner with another couple. It was a little earlier than normal for us at 5:30pm. Hostess greeting was polite and friendly and we were seated right away. Our server was cheerful and friendly and provided us with excellent service the entire time. My wife and I both had the prime rib with horseradish sauce, asparagus, and mashed potatoes, and both prepared the same way. I really dislike saying this but I have to, both entrees, the prime rib tasted like it was boiled in garlic water with large chunks of garlic pressed into parts of e steak. I have to admit this is probably the worst steak I've ever had dinning out. The asparagus was simply okay, boiled or over steamed. We could only eat the tips. The loaded mashed potatoes were the best part of our dinner. Absolutely delicious, thick and creamy with bits of chives, bacon, and cheese. In contrast, most likely the best mashed potatoes I've had in many years. Our friends had blackened Texas Red Fish. I tasted the Red Fish and it was grilled to perfection. Very flavorful. Appetizer was sauteed brussel sprouts with some sort of slightly sweet glaze which contrasted wonderfully with the grilled savory brussel sprouts. It was very good. For dessert we had the carrot cake and added a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. Traditional carrot cake with wonderful icing. Also had the house frozen margarita, traditional flavor with just enough tequila not to overpower the drink. It was will balanced. Between appetizers, entrees, and dessert we spent well over $200, roughly $50 bucks per person. Sorry, I was not impressed with much. If we go back it'll be the Texas Red Fish for me and my wife wants to try a burger. If we ever go back that is. Our server was wonderful and she was rewarded for her excellent service.
The worst! Tuesday night dinner with a friend. Place was mostly empty. Waitress was absolutely just plain rude. No greeting, no checking on us, overcharged my friend double. She certainly didn’t want to be there. The chicken on both the salad and the pasta dishes was inedible. The bench seat in our booth was held together by duct tape. Really disappointed after hearing about the new local owners. We will not return.
