Great vibes, food and staff! The pizza and cocktails are outrageously good. Great happy hour deal also.
The Meteor is a cute little classic diner with hidden outdoor seating. I stopped by with some friends to enjoy some beers and burgers, and boy we're not disappointed! It was a little difficult to find parking on a Friday afternoon, but once we were all inside everything else was a breeze. The employees were personable and efficient when putting in food orders and brought the food right out to our table. The burgers looked awesome! Unfortunately I did not partake that time and had some goodies instead- they have an assortment of pastries and baked goods at the register as well! Brown sugar rice Krispy treats made my night, and the serving size was huge! I'd love to drop by again with my friends, and bring my family by some time soon. Thanks for a great time!
Baller wine selection and pizza. Can’t go wrong when you come here.
Very good espresso drinks. Good pizza. Good selection of pastries. Huge wine selection at fair (retail) prices. Plus: excellent bike shop in a separate building in the premises.
This place is so awesome. Such a cool place. Really love everything about it. Kind of pricey, but you get what you pay for. A very high quality product. Their pizza looks amazing.
Great place to have a cold beer. Or a pizza & pick up a bottle of wine to go. The only reason I dinged the service was because the cashier, who was going to charge me for 2 pitchers of beer instead of 2 pints. I asked him if there were gold flakes in the beer or if I got to keep the glasses. When he recognized his mistake He adjusted the price. The pizza was a top-notch.
I’m Italian and I think this place has the best pizza crust in the world
Really really good pizza, great coffee, amazing wine selection, and overall just a super well-curated vibe of a place. Will definitely be coming here a lot more!
The Meteor Cafe in Austin, Texas is a hidden gem! The atmosphere is fantastic, creating the perfect setting for a relaxing meal or a catch-up with friends. The food is delicious, and the wine selection is top-notch. Plus, the fact that you can get your bike lubed while enjoying a great meal is a huge bonus! Highly recommend for a unique dining experience.
The Meteor was an ANCHOR for the community during the early lockdown and shortages of 2020. One of the only places that you could consistently buy flour, sugar, etc. Happy to support any business that stands up for our local community like The Meteor did during that time
Always been the biggest fan of Meteor. Consistent 5 star experience every time we stop in. This past weekend we worked with Meteor's event team and hosted an engagement party here. It was the best decision we've ever made! Such incredible service and support from both their coordinating event staff and everyone that was on-site day of for the event. Meteor is truly one of the best spots in all of Austin!
Met a work colleague for lunch, great spot! I had a delicious breakfast taco and great cup of cold brew! Atmosphere was clean, chill and nice. I will be back!
This is one of my favorite places in Austin to sit and drink wine while catching up with friends. There is an incredible variety of wines to try and they have wine tastings on Tuesday evenings! I love it because you get the opportunity to try those adventurous wines with the cool labels but you don’t have to gamble paying $60 in case it ends up not being something you enjoy. The food never disappoints either. I’ve had their chicken bowl and a couple pizzas, all have been delicious! In 2021 I was super grateful they were open during the freeze when we didn’t have power and we actually made some friends while hanging out there that we are still friends with till this day. Super cool place!!
Quick cold beer and cider. Server was very nice accommodating and provided a great beer suggestion. We didn't need food. Was a great place to have a beer for 20 minutes!
The Meteor is the best. Wine to buy and drink there (no fee) or takeaway -- one of those places where the bottle curation is so good, you literally can't go wrong. Great food, friendly staff, light and open. A-plus
So awesome to visit Meteor again today. Great to see the bike shop expand with a space to chill out with you bike and the restaurant side had awesome service today.. so we joined their wine club. Great small production, unique wines made with love. Can’t say enough good about this place….
Good coffee and open during the snow storm , kind people working there 🫶🏼
Easy going atmosphere. Great down to earth food great selection of wines and cocktails. Dogs and kids are welcome. Love this area lace. Never disappointed.
Rating is primarily for wine options + wine club/membership. Great selection of unique wines I would not have purchased or tried otherwise. Wine manager is also knowledgeable and great to work with, and a great monthly cost. Each time I’ve eaten at meteor it hasn’t met expectations based on the cost of menu items. Suggest kitchen check food quality (eg moldy berries) and temps (eg cold burgers) before sending out to diners. Suggest going for a coffee and to work or later for drinks + wine, skip the food!
The meteor burger is a great burger with seasoned fries, it's such a great treat. Highly recommend if you like burgers.
Just go, thank me later. Best combo bike shop, food and drink, and community building business oriented around active energized people. Frequent launch location for cycling and other outdoor group activities. After Driveway race or group cycling meetup spot. Great food with many healthy options. Great wine and beer offerings.
The Meteor Austin is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel right at home with warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly service. Their wine selection is outstanding, wide-ranging. The sourdough pizza it’s delicious. Can’t recommend it enough!
This place is awesome! We came here for dinner and some drinks and were so impressed with the venue, the aesthetic, and most importantly - the staff! They were super attentive and helped us decide what to order. The pizza was amazing! and they let you order by the POUND! WHAT? Will definitely be coming back.
The food there is horrible, omg! I stopped there to grab breakfast and ordered an avocado toast, and it was soo bad! Not seasoned at all, awful presentation. It seems like they threw a bunch of salad on top, so you could not see the actual plate. Burnt bread and five pieces of feta cheese. This picture was after a couple of bites. Do not waste your money eating here. ***UPDATE*** I updated my review due to the willingness of Chris, the founder, and Managing director reached out offering a refund and caring about my review, apologizing and saying that they are improving their menu items. Really appreciate that they care, and hopefully, it will really improve! Thank you!
One of my favorite coffee shops to read and relax. Meteor has a little bit of everything. Bike gear, craft beers, coffee, wine, and delicious food. I never leave this spot disappointed and the staff is so friendly. One key reason I love this place is the natural lighting is great. Highly recommend!
The people are very nice. The food was excellent, the drinks are also very good. My daughter is a vegetarian they have very good options.
I come here all the time and I never reviewed it. This place rocks. The coffee and all the caffeine drinks are really quality and the baristas are experienced and super nice. They have a good menu for cocktails, wine, beer if you want it. The snacks they have are surprisingly really quality and delicious. The Caesar salad yall...dayum! This is not typical coffee shop food the food is like...gooooood. Also the atmosphere is cozy and cool at the same time and there's like a more worky side along the windows, and more dining vibe at the short tables, and a collaborative space at the high tables to the left when you walk in. Whether you come to get some work done, eat a nice lunch, or meet someone up for a a drink this is the spot. Really really, badass spot. Also there's a bike shop next door if you need some work done on your bike. Oh and! There's an outdoor space out back. I just started coming this summer so I haven't used it yet 😅 Seriously love this spot. I will say it's on the expensive side if you're middle class. But if you can afford to treat yourself once a week then you should come.
This is a great place to meet up with friends or even a solo hang. I enjoyed a nice, cold hazy IPA while soaking up some sun on the lovely patio. The staff was extremely friendly and this place just oozes good vibes. I didn't try any of the food but I plan on returning soon to grub it up. Don't forget to tip!
I will get pics of food when I return, but the concept here is unique and unforgettable. Great pizza, great wine, and I just saw someone walk off with an espresso and pop-tart. Are you kidding me?!? Nice Austin vibe, counter-service, clean and friendly--it's a market/restaurant, laptop & dog-friendly place with misters out front over the outdoor seating. Too cool.
Update, as of December 2021: One of my favorite spots in Austin. Chill and laid-back atmosphere, with outdoor seating in the front and back. I enjoy sitting inside, amongst the beautiful array, and assortment of wine bottles. And every now and then, especially if I have a date, I'll grab a bottle of wine from this spot. Speaking of which, this is a good place to either chill by yourself, with family and friends, or bring a lovely date with you to enjoy this spot. Five stars! Highly recommended. First review- My second time at this lovely little spot, and wanted to drop back in after a longtime away. The first time I sat outside, and of course it was warm, blue skies and sunny. And with the winter polar vortex of February 2021, I'm sitting warm inside (like everyone else) and enjoying their latte, with oat milk (sooo good). A beautiful place, right on South Congress, with a simplistic yet intelligent design and setup. Coffee, food, good music playlist and wine galore. This is my new chill spot for sure. Highly recommended. Five stars!
Delish! Super cute place, yum food & drinks and very friendly service last night 2/18. Mediterranean pizza is a super flavorful veggie option, great wines & craft beer on draft. Highly recommend!
I love this little place. It’s such a sweet coffee shop and eatery and I definitely wanna come back and have wine some night. Used an Offline offer to discover this place!
Went with a family twice and were able to find things for picky grandparents and a vegan easily. The vegan pizza was absolutely amazing as well. We ordered coffees and bakery in addition to lunch and were able to grab seats outside at the picnic tables which has light covering and plenty of space. Food is walked to the table after ordering in the front, and you clean up your dishes yourself when you finish up, at least outside. Great food and drinks and will definitely be back
The pizza there is outstanding! I've also gotten the burgers and they are also very good. They have a great wine selection, while charging retail prices (i.e. not the typical 2x prices that most restaurants charge). All with plenty of parking.
Flew down from New Orleans for a weekend with my friends. Ended up being snowmageddon 2026 Austin. And there were only a handful of places open in the city and we stopped in and it was amazing from the front door all the way to when we left. Ms Ann was the best
Love this place, perfect for studying, working, or enjoying a nice dinner and a bottle of wine. Excellent drinks. Prices to be expected for the location and quality. My one critique is the tables could be cleaner. The service is friendly and fast. The music they play is fresh and fitting
The Meteor offers the best wine selection for global natural wine options at the best pricing in ATX. Whether I am just popping in for a quick coffee and baked good, simply grabbing a bottle of wine to go, or dining in, The Meteor never disappoints. Kevin and Robert are always incredibly helpful with wine and food recommendations, and the atmosphere offers the perfect environment for both socializing with community and/or getting out of office work done alone. The back patio is perfect on a nice day, and there is always decent parking (free) available.
This café is an absolute gem! The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. The pastries are delicious, coffee were perfectly made. We visited during brunch, and it was a wonderful experience. The interior is beautiful, the atmosphere is inviting, and the service is impressively fast. Overall, everything about this place exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend!
My friends used to always tell us about this spot and how great it is. I was doubtful until I met them for coffee. I love this place. The vibe is always really chill. The staff is always friendly even when the line is out the door. You never sense stress from them. The Honey cinnamon latte is incredible! I also order the Big Bec and it’s delicious! Downside is that sometimes it’s impossible to find parking.
☕️♥️Love at first sight... the coffee is delicious!!! The place is elegant to impress! They also make a really good 🍕with fresh ingredients and a delicious wheat bread with seeds. But, if you are not a fan of coffee, you will have quite a few options of wine and beer . The atmosphere is friendly and you will always listen to good music there!!! I promise you will not regret...
Just popped in to check out the new coffee shop in 78704 on South Congress. Service was quick and coffee was good. It just opened, and I definitely want to return to try the pizza. But overall, it’s a nice bright space, clean design, with counter service and a friendly staff. There is also a bike shop (not sure how this portion is managed) But they sell some Pretty cute merch and there were some bikes on display. Nice addition to the neighborhood.
I'm going to say what I believe most people think about the Meteor. Do I love it there? Yes. Are the vibes just right? Of course they are. Is it quite overpriced? Certainly is. Will I keep coming back? Definitely. Pretty sure I once paid $13 for a bottled juice there. In any event, it's a great spot and an Austin institution at this point.
Good place in South Congress. They serve wine and have lots for sale, great if you love wine and want lots to choose from. While I didn't have a donut/pastry when I was there, the cinnamon roll looked great, and I would be going back to try it out. My only gripe about this place is that it is tuned so much for atmosphere that there is barely any light when the sun sets. Great for ambiance, but can be difficult to do work here, although you can. When I went, there were a few students using the candle on their tables for light...
The Meteor is the perfect combination of cafe & wine bar that has strong partnerships with the local cycling community. Staff are friendly and the space is inviting. In my experience, service times when ordering pizza during lunch or dinner have varied wildly from 10mins up to 60mins. So, just keep that in mind when ordering. They also do weekly trivia on Tuesdays where contestants can win store-credit.
WAY too much seasoning salt. Almost couldn't enjoy our food because everything was drowning in season salt (kinda tastes like a spicy ramen packet). We will absolutely be coming back someday, but we have to remember to ask for less seasoning. Burger and fries were cooked perfectly other than the seasoning. Service and employees were excellent! Thank you!
Really nice place to get your morning coffee and some breakfast. I got some breakfast tacos that were very good, and the salsa they have here is super spicy!! I also got a vanilla oatmilk latte that kind of had an odd taste to me but it was still good and I finished the whole thing. Would definitely like to come check this place out for their dinner menu!
It's a cute spot with a fun vibe. The food isn't going to win any awards but the tea and atmosphere were both really good. The staff were friendly and it felt cozy inside.
Yes!!! My friend recommended the burger here and it did not dissolve. The bread, cheese, sauces everything was delicious! The patty itself was good, could have been bigger and better quality. The real winner here were the fries. These got to be one of the most crunchy fries in town, I was very pleased. Relaxed place, no long lines, fast service, parking available. I will definitely be back to re-do and try the veggie burger.
I tried to slice of the pepperoni sourdough pizza. It was just alright. The dough was not flavorful at all nor the sauce anything special. I certainly wouldn’t get it again. They have a decent wine selection and other choices so doesn’t mean I wouldn’t be back.
Stopped in for breakfast and to get some work done. I love the aesthetic and thought it would be a cute place to grab a bite before class. My first issue was parking. I was able to get the last spot in their lot but I was lucky. I believe there’s paid street parking across the road. Service was friendly and pretty fast. My latte was decent and the breakfast was good, especially with their hot sauce. I got the orange ginger biscotti to go. It was very good with a cup of hot tea later that afternoon. I didn’t find the seating comfortable at all and made it awkward to work on my laptop. I would definitely come back. Probably with a friend to catch up over coffee or wine, but not for studying.
Had a meeting at The Meteor Cafe. There were a variety of seating options - standard tables, bar height tables, and outdoor seating. Bike rack with somewhat limited parking lot. I tried the breakfast sandwich and subbed in a sausage patty. Overall, it was good, but I would’ve liked a saltier breakfast sausage with sage. That’s just my preference though. Looking forward to try more menu items.
Was looking for a new neighborhood coffee shop. The place was hopping on Sunday. Order at the counter, listen out for your name and pick your coffee up from the counter, they bring your food to the table. Bus your own dishes. The BEC was a good classic breakfast sandwich. Pastries looked good. The cappuccino was standard. Also doubles as a wine shop with a wine club. Can be difficult to maneuver your way around inside around all the wines racks when the line is long. Outdoor seating area is spacious. A young hip cafe vibe.
Amazing wine selection and tasty bites. Almost dead rat in the patio. Employee offered us the dust pan at first to take care of it for them :/
Honestly, it’s a cute space but waaay too expensive. It was 13 dollars for a latte that tasted no different from every other coffee place. Pizza was pretty good, but again for 30 dollars I would go to BJs or Roppolos for better tasting pizza. They shut off the wifi at 5pm so it’s not even a good spot to do work in the evening. I have not seen the bike shop so I don’t know how that was, but the cashier was very nice and it’s good if you want a cute picture of the space. Would probably not go again, but it might be a good spot for a date.
Used to be one of my favorite spots in Austin. Seems like they have been struggling to get their menu right for a while, the current option is the worst so far. The prices continue to go up while the quality of the food and ingredients seem to go down. Used to have a great sandwich with a nice bun, and thick fries. The chicken sandwich now is so sad- like out of a concession stand. The cheapest bun I’ve ever seen that just falls apart at every bite. The fries are gross. Literally not even as good as fast food fries. Not worth $20. Sandwich and a coffee bill was $40. Insanity. Not worth it. The service and the vibes do make this place worth coming to- but the food is a no.
The first thing I noticed at the Meteor was their brightly illuminated tagline beneath their sign which read: ESPRESSO CHAMPAGNE CHAIN LUBE I thought I had unwittingly stumbled into a game of “one of these things is not like the other,” only to discover there actually is a bike shop in the rear of the establishment. This set the stage for an evening where I found myself confused about the general theme of the restaurant. The array of espresso equipment, pizza oven, just 4 beers on tap, towering shelves of wine bottles for retail purchase, and a large refrigerator of local brews about 30 feet from the main register, only raised additional question marks as to what the intent was of the establishment. Equal parts beer and wine store, coffee shop, pizza place, and… bike service center? This was almost all forgiven since there was an engaging and interactive trivia night occurring when I was there, however, my experience quickly took a turn for the worse when our pizza arrived. It had great promise, the crust was excellent, nice crunch on the outside and chew in the inside, with a pleasing sourdough note, as well as very fresh toppings. However, the pizza was also an oozing soggy mess, as if an entire bottle of oil were poured atop the pie, the pizza would be truly great if it weren’t for this unfortunate inclusion, but it went from great to almost inedible due to this one mistake. Good atmosphere, confusing theme, soggy pizza. 3 stars.
Former regular.. Most of the staff is cold bordering on rude..with two extremely notable exceptions (Lauren & Kyle) who are fantastic. The coffee is first class , the food is over priced, and the baristas aren’t interested in doing anything more than they have to.
Saw this place from a food influencer on instagram. Just an fyi this restaurant is not dog friendly (we take our dog to most casual bars and restaurants). The drinks our counter service and they will give you a number for your food order which they will then bring out to you. The Vietnamese coffee was really good, if you like sweet coffee like I do. My gf got the prickly pear lemonade which was pretty tart. They serve breakfast tacos until 2 and start selling “full” pizza pies at 2, between 11-2 they sell “big slices” for $10. I ordered at 1:50 so I ordered a breakfast taco and two pizzas to be started at 2 when the ordering technically opened. I got a bacon, egg and cheese taco which was okay, but had probably been sitting for about 30 mins since I got the first part of our food at 2:25. The cheese on the taco was melted like it had been sitting a minute. Not sure about fresh but how I got it not worth the $6 price tag. We ordered two pizzas to share and try. The Maglia Rosa (which is basically a Margarita pizza) and the Meatier (meat lovers-ish, pepperoni, bacon and sausage). Both pizzas definitely needed more sauce, especially the Maglia- was pretty dry for a margarita pizza, mostly crust and dough forward. The toppings on the Meatier were good but pizza was also very dry. These were personal size 4 slice pizzas and at $16 and $17 I expected much more from these. Needless to say wouldn’t recommend this spot for pizza, especially when you can go a couple blocks away to Home Slice. The inside is very soco vibes though with a very large selection of wine and what looked like a decent selection of coffee. Possibly a work from home kind of place. They also have a square rewards system, every dollar is a reward point. So I spent $78 and got $7.8 in rewards dollars for future visit.
No clear pick up spot for online orders. I stood at the second register to pick up my order and the cashier pulled guests from the other line to go in front of me—even tho my order was already ready behind the counter. When I finally got to the register, the baristas/cashiers had the order in a bunch of random spots behind the counter and had to go looking for it, were not friendly/seemed irritated by business. I get that it’s a Saturday and it’s busy but no customer service at all. The atmosphere was nice and the food was mid for the price, tacos were greasy and unseasoned. Would not come back.
Just came in solo to grab a quick coffee. Energy from staff was definitely not welcoming, did not even get a hello when I walked up to order just weird stares from all of them
Iced coffee was literally the worst I’ve ever had. Zero taste, pure water. Breakfast taco was overly salty. Waiting for food was painfully slow. Environment is cool though. Will not be coming back here.
My first time in this location. From the start I had mediocre service. The counter order could not be bothered to be pleasant or help. I find it dumb that decaf is not served, my macchiato was weak and tepid. I sent it back with no response from the help. Background music is too loud in a restaurant with only hard surfaces. My biscuit sandwich used cheap American cheese, but the egg was perfect. I should have gone to Magnolia.
My partner and I are regulars at The Metoer. But today was an issue. We normally enjoy going to the Meoter because we drink beer & we cycle. The atmosphere is chill. We love the lady with the red curly hair. Her customer service is great. Today, we got a pitcher. We noticed there was line cleaner in the beer because the head and bubbles would not go down and you could taste & feel the bubbles in your mouth. The line cleaner in the beer was not the real issue to write this negative review. It was the attitude of the employee when we asked to swap it out. He did swap it out. But he was rude about it. He kept questioning me. When I showed him the bubble lacing on the pitcher and glass, he did not listen. And he gave the left over beer to the staff in an announcement style that was to show he was questioning what I was saying. (Only one pint glass was missing in the attempt to drink it before compaining.) I understand the line cleaner not being flushed out with water properly falls on the distributor who cleaned the line (the employee said they cleaned it yesterday). But for the individual to be rude, that is an issue.
It was busy for a Saturday night which was understandable. We thought the food would be worth the wait but it was not. My date's chicken was overseasoned And overpowered the entire meal. Leaving everything else bland. My salad was very watery as if They threw watery lettuce in there And then put in Caesar and just tossed it so it was just very watered down. While eating I noticed that they left the butt of the lettuce In the salad. I was shocked at this. How does someone miss that? We would never go back again for the food. Maybe just pop in and grab some wine and that's about it. The food was extremely overpriced and not worth it at all.
I am pretty disappointed about this place. I went there this morning to get a London fog. There was a huge line and it seemed that the woman at the register was taking an unreasonably long time to get through the orders. When it was finally my turn, she messed up my order. I ordered a London fog with oat milk. First, she got the sweetener wrong. I asked if the drink was sweetened and she promptly said no. When I asked her to doublecheck (since this drink is typically sweetened), she had to correct herself and say that it was indeed sweetened. When I asked how much, she again didn’t know. The barista said “18 grams” — I am not sure what that means. I felt that was an unhelpful answer. I had to wait 15 minutes for the drink to get prepared, which I feel is also unreasonable. The staff also screwed up the milk — even though I asked for oat, I got dairy milk. I don’t tolerate dairy well. Since the drink was initially too hot, I only learned this once I had left the cafe and had to throw it away. What a waste of $7. And what terrible service.
Warning! not worth your money. Food wasnt good at all. I got breakfast. My husband hamburger was so small. Staff was not welcoming. Most of them look frustrated. Only thing I liked was my tea . I’ll never go back again. So many more better places!!
