This place gets a rare 5 in Stone Harbor, from me at least. It has a solid menu, solid bread, and some excellent pesto ravioli and gnocchi. Service was prompt and professional; food arrived in average time and was prepared well. Appetizers were of good quality but did feel a little too oily, so take note of that and ask for lighter preparations of oil if you can remember. Most of the entrees here should strike just about the right note though! Dessert was a weak note. Skip it, felt industrial and totally uninspired. The key lime pie could have been cheesecake dyed green. Very weird. Parking is easy and available, some even right up against the north wall of the restaurant. Love that. Chairs are pretty good, nothing special.

This is our favorite restaurant in Avalon. It's such a treat to enjoy this amazing chef and his creations. The servers are very friendly, attentive and helpful. The decor and atmosphere is pleasant. We usually start with either the octopus- Polpo alla Griglia or Calamari alla Griglia appetizer-both are fantastic. My husband's favorite is the Breaded Veal Chop -Cotoletta al Parmigiana. Our son's favorite is the Risotta al Gamberi. My favorite are the featured specials. We enjoyed a Flounder Special with Crabmeat in a lemon sauce during the summer of 2023 that we kept going back for. Dynamite! (I would not ding them on this but I preferred the old exterior signage-black with orange red lettering as opposed to the new blue signage that everyone else at the shore has-boring, ordinary and it doesn't pop).

Everything was perfect. There were 8 of us and every single dish was superb. Fast service for such a busy restaurant. The food was beautiful and very delicious. The seafood were fresh. The tiramisu was perfect. Will definitely have to make this gem our regular stop every time we come down here.

In the famous words of Arnold Schwarzenegger, “I’ll be back”. Such a wonderful restaurant, located on the main drag of Avalon. Everything we ordered just hit the spot and was way more than we could ask for. We started out with some appetizers and salads, but they looked and were so good we forgot to take photos first! For our entrees we had chicken francese, rigatoni alla vodka, the pasta special (ricotta cavatelli with shrimp, scallops, crab, spinach and cherry tomatoes in a pesto cream sauce) and the tuna special (ahi tuna served with a cherry tom and crabmeat risotto drizzled with a chipotle aioli). The chipotle aioli was so flavorful and added the perfect amount of kick to the tuna. For dessert we went with the crème brûlée, a peanut butter tartufo, and a chocolate mouse cake. We spent the whole ride back home talking about how amazing the food was and were planning our next trip back. Definitely going back.

We regularly come to Il Posto and it never disappoints. We ordered the salad special (watermelon prosciutto arugula), rigatoni alla vodka, gnocchi Gorgonzola, chicken parm in blush sauce, Stacchetti pasta special. All were amazing. We sat outside on the deck. Fantastic experience!

Dining at IL Posto is like being welcomed into an Italian home where the food is made with love and the guests are treated like family. The flavors are rich, the setting is beautiful, and the service is impeccable — all brought to life under the masterful touch of Chef Tony. The linguini al pesce was a standout — perfectly cooked pasta and tender seafood, delicious to the very last bite. A true gem for any lover of Italian cuisine.

I meant to post this in September. We had the best dinner at IL Posto. I have been coming to AV for almost 20 years and have to say this is the best dinner I have ever had. The food was fantastic and the service was friendly and prompt. I never felt my table was ignored or forgotten. The staff was amazing especially considering it is very difficult to get good reliable help during Covid. I would give 6 stars if I could! Keep up the good work! I went there a few times in September. Great menu, great food, great service and BYOB!

I should have written this last fall but I'm just getting around to it - we ate here in November and it was such a pleasure. The food was very good and the service was so attentive and friendly. We loved that we were not rushed, and so we ended up eating several courses for this reason, and of course because we were really enjoying the food. I see some other comments about the atmosphere not being great - we really thought the atmosphere was nice, but the enclosed deck does not necessarily have perfect climate control. For us it was winter and that was ok, I don't know if it's a problem in the summer since some people have commented negatively about the AC dripping on tables. But there's another dining room that's part of the building if you don't want the slightly rustic atmosphere of the enclosed deck - we liked the deck area so we would sit there again. We can't wait to go back this season and highly recommend.

My husband and I love Il Posto!! The food is always consistent and wonderful and the service is always smooth and impeccable. Samantha and Leigh are always terrific to deal with. An exceptional meal at Il Posto. We had the grilled octopus and grilled calamari apps. Both were tender and perfectly cooked. The generous portion of calamari is on a bed of arugula - a delicious salad though it is not listed that way on the menu. My husband really enjoyed his ravioli special, and my capellini de sardinia was excellent. Thanks to our server, Sam, for her recommendations and excellent service!

Brunch was terrific. We had most of the dishes, and everyone loved their meal. The Eggs Benedict Florentine was perfectly prepared. Love how courteous the staff was this past Sunday.

Went to Il Posto this past weekend for my birthday and it was amazing! My husband and I enjoyed an arugula salad and calamari for apps and cappelini di sardinia and short rib for our entrees - everything was delicious! Also, the staff was very friendly wishing me “Happy Birthday”! Overall a great dining experience. PS can’t wait to try their breakfast!

I’ll start with the food being 10 out of 10. ( I always get the pasta special) We come here as our “night out” often so we love that we never feel rushed. Even tho the workers are running around working they always make it a point to say hi & make us feel welcomed. The consistency with the food & hospitality has always been great. I also want to give credit to the wait staff for how professional & kind they handle the grumpy customers who don’t seem to enjoy a Saturday night out with their people, wine & pasta !

Good byob restaurant serving Italian food. Very popular on the weekends so make sure you got reservations. Specials were $53 for crab ravioli which was okay at best.

Every dish was excellent but the Peanut Butter Tartufo was awful. There was a tiny piece of peanut butter in the center. The waiter never asked how things were so we never had the chance to give our feedback directly. The Key Lime Pie was excellent, as well as the other menu items.

Food is good. Tables are a lil too close together. Staff is lovely. Open all year 'round. The Bolognese was so disappointing. It's just meat sauce, NOT Bolognese. Paying almost $40 for pasta and meat sauce is ridiculous.

Seriously. Did the people who ate here eat at the same place I did? Atmosphere is a zero. Service was atrocious. It seemed to be all 15 year old kids. At these prices? My oysters were served warm on a plate with 3 ice cubes. My companions said the soup was cool and tasteless. The entrees were okay but they have a lot of work to do. Go to the Swine Bar in North Wildwood for a true fine dining experience. With a great view!

The flavors were great but 2 of the 4 meals came out cold along with an appetizer. They are trying to squeeze too many people in. The server told us last night after waiting 1hr and 30 mins for our meal, yeah it’s running about 1:45 to get your food, but then 2 of 4 were cold when we did. The table on the sidewalks are terrible. People can’t even walk by without hitting some of the tables. The server was nice & said the kitchen is just too small and can’t handle this amount of tables. Go to Polpo or Via Mare at least til this place figured it out.

I had the lobster ravioli special. It came with shrimp and scallops. When I was served there was no ravioli. Yes they did make it right but the food came back cold. The food was average.

My family and I had a lovely evening with delicious food last week, except for one concern. Our server, Bryan (I’m not sure about the spelling), appeared to be noticeably sick that day, and my brother and I became sick a few days after visiting the restaurant. I’m not necessarily trying to link our sickness to this visit, but I don’t believe it’s acceptable to allow visibly sick staff to work with customers—it’s a serious responsibility. Aside from that, the food was excellent.

Atmosphere and service were both fine. Unfortunately the food just did not meet the price point for which it’s being charged at. I understand it is a beach town, but $100 (w/o tip) for traditional breakfast meals for a family of 4 for breakfast is too much, even for Avalon.

The home made pappardelle was fantastic. 🤌 Some of the best Italian food in the area. But the ambiance of this place really made it hard to have an enjoyable evening. From the moment we sat down, we were rushed to order our entire meal. I understand trying to get people in and out, but our reservation was at 8pm-no one was taking our table when we were done. On top of being rushed - the wait staff was constantly running around, knocking things over, running into each other, and it was very distracting. For prices like this, I was hoping for a quieter and more relaxed evening.

Louder than a school cafeteria. Literally could not hear my dining partner across the table. He enjoyed the signature pasta dish he always orders at the Sea Isle original sister location. The Veal Il Posto was a large serving of very good quality veal but was drowned in sauce and the crab seemed unnecessary (or perhaps overwhelmed) in the dish. La Finestra is the best of the three associated restaurants.

Awful dinner. Took forever to receive our meal. At least an hour. Server never apologized or checked on us. Never offered more bottles of water or came to refill our glasses. Had the risotto with shrimp and the asparagus was only stems and was undercooked. Too noisy. We’ll never come back.

No self respecting Italian restaurant should serve bread with a soft crust. Bread came with a basil sauce that was inedible and what I think was olive oil but wouldn’t even try it. It was basically clear with two pits in it. Sauces tasted like they were from a packet bought at a grocery store. Some changes need to be made to get this to even average. Responding to owners response: The server had no ability to make the food taste or be prepared better, so bringing it up to her would’ve made no difference. Our server was kind and attentive; unfortunately she’s dealt the cards the kitchen deals her.

Halibut- awesome! Duck- terrible Great server, place needs a dress code- at least no t shirts- staff too -c’mon! For what you charge? Price range for specials but no price listed? Ok. Then give the place a makeover and stop seating more tables than you can handle

My wife and I arrived back in Avalon from a long day of driving. We spend most of the year in Avalon, so we are well aware of the dwindling number of places to eat, not even considering the quality of the few options available. It was close to 8pm, and the Princeton had a 20-minute wait, so we decided on Ill Posto. We have dined at Ill Posto in previous years, and this was our first visit this season. In the past, the food and service have been adequate; tonight, the only thing good was our pleasant server (Breanna?). We split a Caesar salad, which was mediocre at best. It featured chopped romaine, store-bought croutons, shaved parmesan, and lackluster dressing. My wife had chicken in a blush sauce with shrimp, spinach, cheese, and two steak-fry-style potatoes. The chicken was tender, which was the highlight of the dish. There was so much blush sauce that she had to search for the shrimp, which, in our opinion, did not meet restaurant standards. The cheese was most definitely American cheese. Really?!! I had Chicken Parm, which in any decent Italian restaurant should be one of the best meals on the menu. This was the worst I have ever had at a restaurant. The portion was small, the chicken lukewarm, the red sauce definitely did not simmer all day, and the tiny side of spaghetti felt like an afterthought. It was topped with the same American cheese that adorned my wife’s meal, again, Really?!! Come on, Ill Posto! We know it’s a seasonal town, but you have built a nice following. There’s no reason for me to come home and take the time to write this; you can do better, and you have done better! Get your “A-game” together quickly… the Shore season is upon us. Larry and Eva.

Went on Saturday night with reservations. We were sat right away. Following placing our order, we waited 1.5 hours for food. Then received check for 8 people. Was told no individual bills and could split the bill to 2 cards max. Food wasn’t worth the wait..Spoke with the manager. She was very apologetic. Well practiced apology ..Must use it often. I won’t be back. Rather go to Olive Garden

Waited 2 hours for food. Waiters did not tell prices of any food or specials. Was charged 20$ for a bottle of sparkling water in which the price was not revealed until we got the check. Only serves water, no soft beverages. Food was average of that you can get at Olive Garden. Overall was not happy when leaving. Atmosphere was obnoxiously noisy. We were there before multiple other tables and got our food after they did. If you want to spend 300$ on food for 4 people then have fun.

had dinner there the other night and the service was horrible. Had five young children with us and it took an hour and 30 minutes to get 2 orders of chicken fingers and fries and pasta with butter. waitress took our order and we never saw her again until i complained about the wait. When our meals came out we had to send the chicken parm back twice because it was cold. I asked to speak to the manager and a young lady came over. When I complained about the wait she said it's a made to order restaurant. I asked her if that the case why were two entrees served cold, Her response was "thats a good question". Service was horrible and the food was mediocre. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place. You've been warned!

The service and the atmosphere were awful. Condensation from a dirty AV vent in the ceiling was dripping into my mothers food the entire meal, starting with apps. The waitress suggested she place a napkin over her plate while she was not actively eating. They never offered to replace her meal or deduct it from the bill, instead, they gave us a small serving in a to-go container. The experience was very disheartening and my mom was too nice to make a big deal about it. However, we did mention it to the staff, including the manager, more than once. There were also ants all over the table. I would never again return to this restaurant. Save your money, go literally, anywhere else.

Just left this restaurant for my birthday dinner and looking for another place to eat. The food was not good and the staff was not friendly at all. The bus staff was great and very prompt to clear plates and very impressed by how hard they worked. Will never go back to this establishment again.

We have been here over the last few seasons. And enjoyed it. Tonight was terrible! Dover Sole..smallest ever and $65. Shimp over arugula…market price…we should of asked…$75. I get it’s summer in Avalon. But the overpriced food just wasn’t good. Go to Polpo instead!

A Night to Forget Our dinner at Il Posto in Avalon, NJ last evening was a disaster from start to finish. We arrived on time for our reservation, only to be greeted by an aggressively rude hostess whose attitude could sour milk. The wait staff, however, were friendly. Sadly, the food was a different story. After an agonizing 1.5-hour wait, the rib eye steak arrived looking more like a sad, thin slice of lunch meat slathered in cream sauce—barely 1/2 inch thick. The flounder was so salty it was practically inedible. Considering the high prices, we expected much better. The best part of the meal was the delicious wine we brought ourselves, as the restaurant is BYOB. Perhaps the off-season staff isn't up to par, as we've had better experiences with the summer crew and at A Modo Mio, the Sea Isle City location. However, between the rude hostess the excruciating wait for our food and the disappointing meal, this was an evening I’d rather forget. Hopefully management will take this feedback seriously and make needed improvements.
