Nothing beats the pho and hospitality at this family owned restaurant. There menu is so large, there’s something for everyone. Of course I went with the OG Pho in a golden bowl with gold dust. Did it make it taste better? Probably not but it sure the hell was more fun eating and making content lol.
Nice cozy & nostalgic lil spot in Homecrest (South Brooklyn) for a warm bowl of pho or just vietnamese cuisine! One bowl of pho is very filling and the broth is flavorful. Would certainly recommend asking for hot tea or their condensed coffee as they provide extra hot water for brewing. This place is conveniently located near the Avenue U station along the Q train (Brighton Line) or the B3 bus, and I would definitely recommend this as a chill spot for friends, family, or a date!
They gave me free tea and water and my pho was delicious! Great service. Solo date friendly
This Vietnamese spot is one of the OGs. Great Pho, rice dishes and wonderful staff. If you’re lucky enough, you can catch the owner Brian there to deliver some entertainment.
I love this local spot!! It’s near my house 10 mins drive walk. Whenever I come here, I always order bún bò Huế and spring roll.
They food really good my friend invited me here and we ended up taking take out the dumpling were amazing definitely recommend great tasty food staff and place was very clean thank you 🙏🏽
The 5 star review is not for the best Vietnamese food but that this restaurant has tried their best to maintain the quality and quantity of food over the years. My family and I have been patronizing this restaurant since it was built over 25 years ago. Of course the portions were much larger and prices were much cheaper back then. However, this is our favorite neighborhood restaurant, also sadly bc there are very slim pickings on Avenue U. We recommend the #1, spring rolls, banh mi, pork vermicelli, red snapper, spicy sour veg soup, and though I don't eat that, many non Asians love their fried rice. Yes portions have shrunk, prices have risen, but the waiters (most of them) have been there off and on for the last 5-20 years except for a couple young men. Service is brisk, friendly, the food has mostly remained the same taste-wise, and they don't charge you an extra arm and leg for more sauce, or lettuce for your spring rolls or bean sprouts for your #1. Also I do not like the way they give you the receipt. It's in shorthand, with no itemized prices except for the total. You have to do your due diligence to write down the prices to make sure you're not overcharged.
Pho Hoai on Avenue U in Brooklyn is an absolute standout and a true neighborhood favorite. The food is consistently delicious, comforting, and full of authentic flavor—especially the pho, which is rich, aromatic, and perfectly prepared every time. You can really taste the care and tradition in each bowl. The staff are friendly, attentive, and welcoming, creating a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience whether you’re eating in or ordering to go. Pho Hoai is the kind of place you can rely on for quality, warmth, and great value. If you’re in the Avenue U area and craving amazing Vietnamese food, this spot is a must-visit. Highly recommended. 🍜
Delicious Vietnamese food. My favorite place to get pho. They offer a generous amount for great price. Friendly staff and quick service. Highly recommend you to try this gem out.
Love the place Was suggested by several friends, once they got to take out order. Damn soo good , nicest Pho and sandwich(lol can’t remember) and Vietnamese Rolls are top as well
My husband and I often go to this place. The food is delicious, especially if you like Vietnamese cuisine. Today, unfortunately, my order was brought when my husband had almost finished his dish, even though there was no full fit at the restaurant. But more often than not, the speed of service here is good, I guess today is just the day. Prices are reasonable, not high.
Phở Hoài 牛肉河粉 Star Rating: ★★★★☆ Phở Hoài doesn’t announce itself with theatrics or trend-chasing flair—and that restraint is precisely its charm. Located on Avenue U in Brooklyn, NYC, this neighborhood staple operates with quiet confidence, focused on execution rather than excess. While the beef phở remains a standout, it’s far from the only reason to come. The broth arrives clear yet deeply aromatic, simmered to a layered richness that feels comforting rather than heavy. Tender slices of beef cook gently in the heat, and the rice noodles maintain a satisfying chew—never bloated, never mushy. It’s a bowl that invites customization, rewarding a thoughtful hand with herbs, chili, and lime. Just as compelling are the grilled offerings. The grilled pork is fragrant and well-caramelized, striking a balance between sweetness and smokiness, while the grilled pork chops arrive juicy and assertively seasoned, with a char that speaks to a properly hot grill. Paired with rice or noodles, they provide a heartier counterpoint to the delicacy of the phở, expanding the menu beyond the expected and doing so with confidence. Nothing here feels engineered for spectacle. Service is efficient and unobtrusive, and the atmosphere remains relaxed and unpretentious—ideal for a casual weekday meal or an easy neighborhood dinner. Phở Hoài isn’t interested in reinvention. Instead, on Avenue U, it distinguishes itself by honoring Vietnamese classics with consistency and care. A dependable destination where beef phở, grilled pork, and pork chops all earn equal footing—and where satisfaction comes from getting the fundamentals exactly right
The food is good! Yesterday I drove 1 hour to get there before (9:30) and arrived at 8:55… I was turned away. Please update the closing time! It’s not 9:30, it was such a waste of time driving all the way there.
Good food but the staff are always busy. The bathroom has lots of graffiti and is quite dirty and the workers don't bother fixing it. The staff don't bother to pour your tea for you and never attend to your needs, but if there's no people food arrives within 6 minutes. Recommend beef cubes with rice vermicelli and vegetable.
Good tasty soup but such funky service blunt nd straight to the point. We were heading out after our meal and no one said anything to us, so I casually said “thank you bye”, and the front desk lady responded“youre welcome” immediately. I was so weak and amused >.< nice two bathrooms interior decor is zesty. Rice paper spring rolls no avocado shake and No omasum tripe :( Love jalapeños Summer rolls is amazee ingg. Their hours need to be updated i think they close at 9:30PM now.
No frills, this restaurant serves very good, classic heartwarming pho - perfect for a cold day. Ignore all the comments about service — the service here is fine and typical of this type of establishment. All the people who comment are just not used to no frills Asian restaurants. The price is $12 for a bowl - great price, stop complaining. Will be back for more.
I'm going to be very honest with my review. I give this place a low rating because yes the food is good. I've lived in the area for years. But they have a C health department rating time and time around. Being in the food industry myself, the health department allows you the opportunity to correct your violations so you can get a better letter grade. Despite this, I decided to come back here and give it a try since I was really craving Vietnamese food.... I'm eating in my low lit home only to discover a large piece of tape in my salad. Very disappointing. Probably won't be coming back because there is no attention to detail clearly when preparing and packing food orders. I understand staff get busy and tape is clear so it's hard to see. But the restaurant was mildly busy. I actually happened to bite into this. Imagine it was a metal staple or something that I bit into without noticing? 😞😞
Google show that they working until 9:30. I was there at 8:45, they told me they don’t work for dine in after 8:30. They need to make notes so people will not be upset about that! I ordered Pho with mixed meat, but I got only brisket and tendons inside. I will think twice next time to go there!
The iced coffee was great. The food was good and well enough seasoned. I took a stars away because i ordered the spicy version of my meal but there was zero spice. I brought it to the attention of our server and he made no effort to fix it. I didn't make a big deal because my friends seemed bothered.
I'm guessing this place is under new management because of the deals that's been going on lately and also a lot of new faces. I've been going here on a regular because my kids love pho. I ordered from Ubereats because it was buy one get one free. I got BOGO number one and BOGO spring rolls. It felt off when I got my order because it felt light weight wise. I didn't think much of it until I got home and saw the portion size. I got the similar order the last time they had the BOGO deal and the portion size was more or less "normal". This time around it looks pathetic, like it's half of a portion of a normal order. As you can see in the picture, it's like half the box. You can't tell me this is the normal portion size for an "extra large combination bowl" and it's $16. If you're doing it because it's BOGO then definitely not cool.
I been coming here for over 15 years, last time I came with my friends, I order the #1 and the bowl of pho came out half full ! Not how it use to be. Also the older lady that works there is super rude and always rushing people for no reason ! We ask for a cup with ice and she gave an attitude like she didn’t want to do it or care what we ask for?
I ordered on call, but I got the wrong order twice in a row. I called to ask why, they ignored me. Dismissing it and complaining it was not their fault. Their attitude was quite alarming since this has never occurred before under old management. Since my family has gone there quite a lot. It’s quite a shame for a restaurant not to value their own customers as well as health concerns.
