Clementines

This review is based upon a dining experience that my sister and I had earlier this year (2022) , during the off season. We were spending a few days down in Ocean Grove, NJ and we wanted to go to breakfast one morning. It was a weekday, earlier in the week and most of the breakfast places were closed. We stumbled upon Clementine's Restaurant on Main Street in Avon and to be honest, in all the years I have been coming down to the beach, I don't remember seeing this place. As soon as we entered, we were greeted so nicely by the staff who gave us a table right by the window. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was so cozy. There is a beautiful fireplace and the tables are nicely spaced out. Cute, homey touches adorn the restaurant, which makes the space inside warm and inviting. The restaurant was so bright and airy. We were there for breakfast and this place did not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious and you can tell it was made with LOVE. We both had the Avocado Toast with a side of potatoes which was scrumptious. We had a hot beverage as well, which I think was a Hot Chocolate (sorry it's been a while), I remember it being very good. The waitress was attentive and kind, answering all of our questions about the menu. Our order was taken promptly and we received our food in a very reasonable amount of time. The food was well priced. We are heading to Bradley Beach in a few weeks and I will most definitely be returning to this spot. If you are in town, don't miss out on this hidden GEM!

Loved it. Refreshing atmosphere that is sure to relax you and bring you to the early days. Caution, food is addictive. First time here. You can't go wrong with anything. Try it!

Love Clementines. Food is always great. Service is just as good. It's BYOB. They only take reservations. Nice comfortable warm atmosphere. Jambalaya here is awesome. Definitely worth a try. Portion is huge. If you like steak the Cajun ribeye and 8oz filet are awesome. Can't really go wrong with anything on the menu.

Can't wait to go back. It's ashame they only offer dinner hours. Their shrimp, scallop and crawfish beignets are spectacular. They're a great byob restaurant. A must eat in avon.

Our waitress was excellent-- friendly, helpful and fun. The food was simply to die for. So many delicious flavors and everything cooked to perfection. You can't go wrong with any of their menu items. If you take away anything from this review, let it be this.... For the love of all that is holy, GET THE BUTTER CAKE.

The Taste of New Orleans menu is spectacular! Our party of 5 had dinners of Blackened Catfish, Blackened shrimp, Flatiron Steak, all outstanding. The Spare Rib appetizers (bonless) melted in your mouth. Service is attentive without being intrusive. Thank you so much, we will be back.

Excellent tasty Cajun-inspired meals in a unique, warm setting. The owner puts a lot of attention into the details. The staff was super friendly and made many suggestions. They are BYOB so a nice bottle of wine will compliment your delicious dish. Will return thank you :)

The Food and service are great - it’s a little pricey but the meal is quite excellent and they give you plenty of food. It’s also a BYOB so you do t have to worry about adding that to the bill. They also have a few tables outside - I recommend reservations beciase it’s a small place. I also love how they decorate their bathroom 😁😁

Wonderful location. My wife and I were very happy to find out that they have a full page of their menu dedicated to their vegan dishes. And it turns out they have the plant-based "Impossible burger" at this location which is really awesome. Waitstaff was outstanding, very accomodating and very friendly. Can't say enough good things. Definitely recommend it.

Hidden gem that checks all the boxes. The food was excellent, avocado app, catfish, shrimp and pesto special, and of course the Jambalaya. Authentic Cajun flavors; without the overdose of butter! And the service was exceptional. Beatrice was fantastic and truly took care of us all night. It’s refreshing to dine somewhere where the staff is knowledgeable and cares that you have a good meal. Perfect night all around! The icing on the cake; it’s a BYO. What’s not to love? We’ll be back soon with friends.

First time at Clementines and we loved everything about it! The restaurant was packed and we did not have reservations but the owner went out of his way to accommodate us. Everything was so freshly prepared and delicious!!!! The service was another plus! Kate was our server and she was so Friendly and accommodating, She was so sweet to my son! I must say this has been the best restaurant I’ve ever been too! I highy recommend it and I can’t wait to come back!

Found this place by accident. This was a great find. Food was very tasty. Memories of New Orleans. Only issue the portions are very big. I was only able to eat 1/2 of my meal. Took the rest home and had the rest for my next day dinner. If you don’t like spicy food tell them less spicy. Overall a great experience. Waitress was very attentive. Had Bananas Foster , great dessert. Spent under $100 with tip for two people. This is BYOB

Everything was great, but we were scolded for being late for our reservation, which was actually sort of funny because I felt like I was being reprimanded by the principal in Back to the Future. I was not offended. We *were* late. Great atmosphere. Great server. Interesting decor (loved it!). Amazing, incredible food. 10/10 recommend.

I've dined at Clementines over 20 times. And it's special every time. The ambiance is amazing. Food is spectacular. Never disappointing. Bobby and Michael gave a special place. My only problem, is I save it for special occasions now, so I don't get tired of it. If I could have a last meal,it would come from Clementines. Probably the Fried eggplant w the shrimp and crawdad. To die for!!

Amazing, amazing, amazing. Walked in on a Saturday night and they were able to get us a table. Met one of the two owners who was so friendly and welcoming: also I also bought gorgeous jewelry show cased on the side. This restaurant is one in a million. Atmosphere, service, food- all a TEN. It’s our new favorite place and likely where we will celebrate our anniversary moving forward. I cannot say enough great things about this restaurant.

Gumbo appetizer was delicious and the mashed potato appetizer was very good. I had the Veal Clementine and my wife had the crab cakes. Crab cakes were served with a choice of sides, which included the option of jambalaya. Everything was just delicious. Service was spot on. Prices are reasonable for the delicious plate of food. Highly recommend. BYOB.

Can't rave enough about this place! My fiance and I are frequent customers of Clementine's and The Bistro, and every meal we have is incredible. The scallops, dauphine potatoes, and etouffee are some of our favorites! Bobby, Michael, and their staff are so welcoming and kind. 10/10!

Clementines is one of our favorite restaurants. The owners and staff are extremely welcoming. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and unique. The food is always perfectly cooked and delicious. If you’re passing through the area, be sure to check it out!

Clementines was our favorite restaurant, and when it closed we were heartbroken. When we heard the staff reopened it as Clementeams, we booked a reservation immediately. Just seeing our wait staff put smiles on our faces. I mean, how amazing is it that the staff we regard so highly, is close enough to take the financial risk of re-opening and running this iconic restaurant? And wow, are they amazing! The food was spot on, as it always has been, and the service was wonderful. We were a party a four women for a birthday, and the staff was attentive as well as giving us space to chat and celebrate. Absolutely recommend this fabulous endeavor for the Clementeams team if you’d like to dine out and have a great dining experience.

Went to Clementeams last night. It was as good if not better than Clementines. Beatrice greeted us at the door and seated us in her area where we were treated to her great service for this visit. The menu is as good as ever and the ambiance remains very nice. Thank you to the old team for taking the risk and reopening! We wish you all the best and will be back many times.

Tried this BYOB NOLA style restaurant on a Thursday night. The menu had a lot of Cajun options that included all types of seafood. We got the crab cake entree and jambalaya pasta. Both were delicious!! Entrees are around $30 each. Service was not the best, but the food made up for it. They have outdoor and indoor seating. Reservations are recommended.

This is a great restaurant! Consistently a wonderful meal. They almost always have room for us even when we don't have a reservation.

First timer. The service and atmosphere was excellent. Probably the best waitress I ever had at this place. The food we had was very good but a bit heavier/richer than we normally eat so it was a positive learning experience and I would go back.

Been to Clementines countless times. Always good. The fried oysters, scallop app and the blackened catfish are our go to dishes . There are 2 seatings on the weekend, 6:00 and 8:00pm. Love that it is a BYOB. Highly recommend.

Clementines is a quaint little restaurant. BYOB and cash only. Good atmosphere and clean. For an appetizer, my husband and I shared Fried Brie which was delicious. For the main course, I had the salmon and my husband had pork chops. It is my fault that I did not read the description closely but the salmon was dry without any sauce. I asked our server, Jake, if they had tartar sauce. Unfortunately, they do not carry that, but were able to provide a remoulade (mayonnaise and Dijon mustard). It was ok but nothing fantastic. My husband was happy with the pork chop.

Meeting friends for dinner who were there first. Ask the Maitre D if they were here...he pointed to a room behind him and said " in there" Food was pretty good...anything fried was over cooked. We stayed 1/2 hour after closing and were asked to leave. 9ppl and a $800 bill and we got kicked out because the staff wanted to leave at 10:30 on a Saturday night. Glad I went, but I won't be back.

Decent but not great food. The wait staff is good, but I'm thinking there's a lot of rules by the owner? Appetizers must be ordered at the same time as dinner. We asked for some more bread but were told that they were out. Out of bread at 6:30 on Saturday night? This was my first return in quite some time, owing to being rushed off of our table on our last visit. A complaint about restaurants in general: There was not a line and a few open tables. So, why is it that the staff has a penchant for clearing off the table (some finish ahead of others) of empty plates whilst others are still eating? It's a fine line granted, but let the table enjoy the meal and stop making us feel like you want us to leave.

I just don’t get it. Overpriced, bland food the host was rude and dressed poorly for an expensive restaurant. I give it 2 stars because the desserts were great. The tablecloth was plastic I felt like I was at a picnic

I’ve been here 3 times. It was wonderful so I made a reservation on line and arrived at 5 instead of 5:30. Very disappointed. We were sat immediately at a wonderful table. Had gotten our drinks when the owner walked over and asked us if we could move as he needed the larger table. My 92,yr old mom was with us for her BD. But we were nice. But, instead of moving us to a nearby table, all of which were empty, he moved us to another room w/ a small table. We felt like we were being ostracized even though we had a reservation. Not ever going back.

Nice atmosphere. Service was very good. I had the Gumbo and the jambalaya and while I lived in Lafayette and New Orleans for quite a while and have been back at Least once every year since this gumbo and jambalaya was terrible and unlike anything I have ever had. However the local NJ people like it and the restaurant has been here 20 years so what do I know. My wife’s app was not very good but her main course ( eggplant scampi). was excellent.
