We randomly chose this place and so happy with our discovery. Most of our group had the buffet which was all you could eat fried chicken, pork chops, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, chicken rice ( which was the favorite of many), and a generous salad bar. There were other choices on the buffet too. I had the best grilled chicken sandwich of my life- juices and so much flavor!! Waitress was so knowledgeable and friendly too. We loved this place and will definitely be back. Thank you Beefmaster Steakhouse!!

Had lunch at Beefmasters in Ballinger. It's a very down home place. The staff were very attentive. The food was good! My husband and son had the Mexican buffet. They enjoyed it. My granddaughter and I had steak fingers and chicken tenders. It was great! Gravy like I used to make!

Omg best food ever!!!! I’m from west Texas and we travel to brownwood a lot. This is my favorite place to stop and eat at. Everything is home made and omg it hits the spot every time. The service makes it better but tbh the food so good I don’t care about the service.

We chose this place based on the good reviews and we were not disappointed. This place is a gem and judging from the number of customers who seemed to know each other, the locals think so too. The salad bar was excellent, full of fresh and diverse offerings. The hot buffet included chicken noodle soup ( I had some and it was delicious and homemade), beef pot pie, fried chicken, pork chops, corn, green beans, the most creamy, yummy mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, cabbage and I can’t remember what else. Our attentive server brought warm rolls and cornbread and for the grand finale, chocolate cake. And all of this was under $20 for two of us. We paid more the day before for Subway!! We will definitely go back if we pass through Ballinger again.

My husband and I went there looking for a quick bite, they had a steak buffet which was great. We were so full. Loads of food, very tasty steak and chicken, they had 2 different kinds of soup and many sides. This place is a great stop.

Breakfast buffet only on Saturday and Sunday. One of my favorite places to eat. The food is always good, staff is friendly and prices are very reasonable for what's available. Nothing better that hitting the breakfast buffet, then going home for a nap!

I got the pleasure of eating here for a couple of weeks while working out of state. Traveled all over Texas for my job and can say it's been 8 years and I still can taste the catfish from this place. We went here when they had their Thursday buffet with steak and fried chicken, and everything was so delicious! We loved the unlimited salad bar as well. The waitress who served us was one of the nicest, and this place will definitely be our regular stop.

We discovered this place 2 years ago and always stop when we pass through on our way to Lubbock. Food has always been fantastic and service is excellent, well as long as you stay away from Tiffany … she’s easy to spot: always wears a purple shirt and always has a scowl on her face (literally, every time).

We went on a Saturday & had the buffet. I was worried about steak on a buffet thinking it would be dry & tasteless. This is the complete opposite of that, very moist & flavorful. I LOVE this place!When I went there I was looking to get a good steak and a salad bar. Upon getting there, it was a buffet special on Thursday. They had the best brisket, ribs, sausage, pulled pork, and smoked chicken breasts I've ever had. I will go back and get a steak after tasting the way the meats were cooked on the buffet. I loved the rustic atmosphere and decor, and the waitress was so nice and accommodating that I can't wait for a return trip! If you are ever in Ballinger, make a stop at this restaurant! You will get a great meal at a good price!

100% undeniably the BEST cut of ribeye steak I've had in my life. No need for steak sauce or gravy as it's already so tender and flavorful! We were passing through as we were driving back to Colorado Springs from San Antonio. My hubby has completed the drive several times prior and has never been able to stop to eat here. This was our first time and it will most definitely be a staple and we will STOP every time we visit! Thank you to the very friendly staff and other friendly patrons who welcomed us.

Buffet is where it's at folks! Beefmasters offers buffet or off the menu options. So you can't go wrong with either choice. Staff is fast paced, attentative and friendly! Today's buffet options, consisted of steak or fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, onion rings, fried okra, squash, cabbage, brussel sprouts, fried mushrooms, corn and beans. Plus a full salad bar and soups! Soup of the day- potato or taco. Food was Amazing! Needed a hint of salt but other than that flavor was on point! Plentiful and filling. The sweet tea was perfect for this triple digit Texas weather! Dessert was a nice sliver of chocolate cake! So rich and a perfect way to finish off the meal. This steakhouse didn't disappoint! Stopped here while traveling from Atx. The food is great but I recommend the steaks. The restaurant itself is nice inside as its filled with antiques and our waiter was super nice and attentive. Would stop here again!

Lucky find on the road. Balinger is not a large place. We arrived at lunch time accidentally colliding with two large groups of teenages headed from all appearances to an athletic event. So it was very busy. The hamburger steak and grilled onions were good as was the cheeseburger and fries. Not a fancy place but nice folks serving.

5 stars isn't enough! We got the special which was the "dinner steak" sirloin, a side and the salad bar. Everything was amazing!!! We even had them wrap up a couple steaks for us to take home. Phil, the owner, came out and talked to us about the meat he choses and had so much pride in his business and product. Such a wonderful place. Everyone is friendly and service is welcoming. We have eaten here several times and enjoyed our visits. This time we had the lunch buffet and some appetizers. The lunch buffet is fresh. Fried chicken and steaks are juicy and flavorful. The fried onions rings and mushrooms are amazing. The salad bar is fresh and the green chili soup had a good amount of spice. The Cajun fried okra was whole okra and tasted amazing. The stuffed jalapeños with cream cheese and a good portion of bacon were also spot on, watch out some can be hot!

Had the West Texas Creole catfish. It came with salad and soup bar, fries, homemade roll, and veggies. It was amazing! I fish was blackened and had a wonderful sauce that reminded me of my favorite that i used to get in austin (unfortunately it shut down a few years ago.) Prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended!

Really great place to eat if you’re nearby. Definitely worth the stop! I had the steak and my husband had the buffet. It was $10.99 for all you can eat home made chicken fried steak, fried chicken and lots of other things. Service was excellent and ambiance is cute and rustic!

Small West Texas steakhouses are true hidden gems in the state. Beefmaster is no exception. If you didn't know it was there it is very easy to miss even with Google we had to turn around because we drove past it. But if you have the patience you will be rewarded with some awesome steaks nice tender and perfectly cooked. Fair warning if you get the mesquite wood grilled steak it will have a strong flavor. I thoroughly enjoyed it my wife not as much. The good news is you can get them cooked on a flat iron instead of mesquite in case you're worried the flavor will be too strong. The onion rings were piled high and cooked amazingly nice and crispy with a little bit of char on the onion. Well worth a stop if you find yourself in the great big metropolis of Ballinger

Small steakhouse with unlimited salad bar / optional unlimited buffet with chicken fried steak sides etc. got the KC for 2 which was far far too much for just 2 people. If you only have two people definitely get the KC for one or something smaller. Only 4 stars for food since the second time up to the salad bar they were completely out and didn't refill it until we were walking out. Otherwise food was great and came out fast!

Excellent food and service. One of the better steaks I have had. Prices are at the price point I would expect for a rustic real deal steak house. We drive from Abilene to come here. The fried shrimp here is also fantastic. The bathrooms are not perfect, but you don't come here for the bathrooms, you come here for the food, and everybody knows that. The food will make you smile.

A small town mom and pop restaurant off the beaten path. The day we stopped there was an all you could eat salad bar and buffet that appeared to be excellent. Opting for a lighter lunch I ordered a bacon Cheeseburger with fries and my wife ordered a salad. We had anything but a lighter meal My fresh ground burger was piled high on a large bun and a generous portion of homemade fries. My wife's salad was large enough to feed a small army. All delicious and served with a smile Dining area was far from elegant, but I felt safe and comfortable. Pleasant experience on trip passing through town off the beaten path.

This was our first time here and we got the steak fingers and they are really good. The salad bar seems to be adequate. The rustic old Timey decorations are awesome, but when you are in the middle of eating and a cricket jumps on your table, not very appetizing. Our waiter, Tony, was excellent.

The flame grilled ribeye steak was flawless, as was the salad bar. The fries were badly underdone and there was little to no whiskey in my $15 drink. I went back again the next night and had the baked potato which was good. The jalapeno poppers and cheese sticks are incredible.

The baked potato was loaded with cheese, bacon bits, butter, and scallions which were great. Ribeye medium rare which was great and took home the butter finger pie which was great! You have to go find this place, it is easy to miss but it is near the hospital I believe. I would go out of my way to go back to this place because it was very good. The place looks like a dump on the outside and the men's room is tiny to impossible to utilize.

I liked the place. Nice and rustic with very friendly help. Prices are reasonable. We did not eat the buffet But ordered off the menu instead. I had the chicken fried steak with my gravy on the side because, as a general rule, I don't like gravy. Their gravy was good.

Beefmasters overall has always been a good place to eat but tonite not so much I will give them the benefit of the dought because it was at 10 when we walked in and I know they were getting ready to close but the food took way to long for it to come to the table considering most of the food was fried and the other was a club sandwich and on top of that my food was cold wouldn't have been upset if it was at least warm but it wasn't

Not what we were expecting. Not the cleanest restaurant, ribeye steak was supposed to be awesome from other post. Mmm not. Over cooked. To top it off there were dead mice outside the facility. So what does that say? Waitress was awesome. But sorry will not return.

We were able to catch the Thursday Buffet with all you can eat kc steak, fried chicken, amd trimmings. The Steak was really tender. The temp on the buffet was just warm. Mash potatoes were really good, just missed some cream gravy. Service was a little slow, but not terrible. Dinner buffet was 13.99 which I thought was a good price. We travels about 40 minutes from where we live to give it a try. Was good but not the best.

The only thing that was disappointing was the appetizers they were way too dry and had no flavor, so please skip the appetizers if you decide to go.

When we got there, no one greeted us at the door. Once we were seated we could here the waitresses asking each other who was going to get our table. Talk about feeling not wanted in this place. Wow!! We were given silverware that was dirty and only one napkin. The food was decent I guess. Still very upsetting to me. Would not suggest this restaurant to anyone from out of town. If you live there I guess it's a great place to eat

The service from our waitress is the only thing that saved this from a 1 star. Cool looking place, nice staff, food was terrible. I got the chicken fried steak with a baked potato. The chicken fried steak was 60% breading and tasted bland. Absolutely no flavor. It tasted like something that you grab from the freezer and deep fry to heat up. The roll tasted like it had gone bad. I would return to try another item on the menu, but I would not recommend the chicken fried steak to anyone.

Honestly, we had uncertain expectations walking in. The service was great, very friendly and hospitable. The problem was the food. My mashed potatoes were gritty and cold (yes I understand they are handmade from real potatoes). The potato soup was oddly sweet and the potatoes were not consistently cooked. My steak bites were also sweet, which wasn’t terrible, I just don’t like sweet meat like I know lots of people do. In short, the people that go here, love it, and it was packed the whole time we were there. We just won’t be back.

We stopped through on Friday, May 10, 2024 to eat. I ate off the buffet the fish and shrimp. We were on our way to Brownwood, I had to get my husband to stop in Santa Anna for a restroom. A few hours after eating, I was throwing up and diarrhea. I didn't stop throwing up until there was nothing left to throw up. I truly believe your shrimp was bad. I will not eat there again I think health department needs to check temperatures of food.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would!!! My wife and I, who are long-time great friends of the Kings(owners), ate here last Friday evening. We have eaten here for 20+ years, and have always enjoyed doing so. We have always been treated like family. Last Friday evening though was the worst dining experience we have ever had!!! The food was delicious as always, but the staff treated us horribly!!! They have had a terrible attitude towards us for some weeks now. We like to eat here after each in-town football game. Eating here afterwards is part of the fun of attending these games. We are also from out-of-town, so we can only get here every so often. We used to look forward to eating here. Not any more!!! The people here have a very strange problem with how many napkins you use. They actually hid them from us, so we could only have so many. They also complained to one another about how many napkins we were using!!! Again, very strange!!! They also do not like us using the restroom before we leave as we have an hour long drive home. They have very small restrooms which are very uncomfortable to use. They have two larger restrooms in the back which are much more comfortable to use. They literally and bodily stood in our way of using those. Also, even after a football game, we still arrive here at least an hour before they close, and they seem to always be out of food, especially on the buffet. They usually aren't too nice about preparing more food for you even while they are still open for that full hour. We have even heard other out-of-town guests complain about this issue. All-in-all, they just show an extremely terrible attitude towards their customers. Again, this attitude has been shown towards us during this entire football season, and especially last Friday evening. After so many years of dining here, we have decided to never eat here again. We find this to be a very sad decision we must make, but we choose to never be treated this horribly again, just simply trying to enjoy a nice meal after a fun evening of high school football. We will, unfortunately, just have to eat somewhere else. They told us to beware of their restroom cleaning policies and indicated that we would never be able to use the restrooms of our choice. Well, now I feel that all customers should beware of these peoples attitudes and that they will all gang up on you and make your dining experience a very unpleasant one. If you truly want a better dining experience than this, then I would definitely eat somewhere else.
