This is the place to come if you're looking for bourbon. They have a huge bourbon selection here. Other stuff, less so, but hey. Very nice and knowledgeable bartenders to help guide you through the hundreds of bourbons too.

I was in from out of town for the Jo Koy show and wandered over to the bars downtown after. It was a Saturday so everything was packed and everyone was having a good time but BGT was like an oasis. It was full but not crowded. The staff was cool and knowledgeable about the hundreds of bottles they have. Definitely recommend a stop

Every Thursday, I make it a point to visit Bluegrass Tavern, and it’s consistently the highlight of my week. From the moment I walk in, I feel right at home. The true star of the night is Jordan, the bartender. Jordan's friendly demeanor and engaging conversations make the experience truly special. The rest of the staff are equally fantastic. They are attentive, courteous, and always go above and beyond to ensure every guest feels valued. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a fantastic evening out!

My husband and I went here for a Bourbon tasting experience and it was WONDERFUL! We asked the bartender to curate 2 flights of Bourbon and he had complete control over what he chose for us. He did an AMAZING job and it was an excellent experience for us! Laid back atmosphere, but they know what they’re doing so go to BGT! Thanks Again!!

We loved our time here! The Bartenders are super knowledgeable and friendly. They're always willing to teach a lesson and tell a story of bourbon. The selection is excellent. One of the best around! We stopped in on an excellent fall night. The weather was perfect for the awesome patio/courtyard outside! The inside is setup as a wood-lined irish/bourbon bar kind of setup and it's just incredible. I'd HIGHLY recommend a visit

Great bar with an extensive Bourbon selection. I recommend an afternoon visit, even better would be to call ahead and set up a tasting. The bartenders are attentive and their banter between then is entertaining. It should be noted that evening visits will likely provide a different experience, this bar and neighboring establishments get overrun with Kentucky University students. Still a fun experience, but totally different vibe.

Last time I was here it smelled so bad I had to tell the bartender. Now, I’m glad I came back! It smells great! Good job taking care of it! Their selection of bourbons is the best! This is a great place to relax, enjoy good music, and good bourbon. Highly recommend.

Best bourbon selection in town and cheaper than Belle's. Usually some decent craft beers, also. Staff is pretty amazing, knowledgeable and funny as hell. Couple other reviews said bartenders rude based on a few seconds of interaction which is unfair. They treat you how a good friend would treat you, cordial and sometimes smart-assy but always in good fun. Plus they really know their stuff, hard to beat this place for a casual drink or two.

We had an amazing day with a private tasting for our wedding guests visiting Kentucky (since we couldn't do bourbon distillery tours). Sean and Mitch were very knowledgeable and were great to work with when setting up the event. The day of, when everyone was having an amazing time, they facilited some extras to make our day even more enjoyable with friends and family. Thanks for sharing your amazing facility and for being so wonderful with our group!!! 11/10 Stars recommend. We cannot wait to come back and visit!!

Great vibe and wide selection of bourbon. The old fashioned had a nice twist and was delicious. A couple TVs if you want to catch sports. Bartender had a great taste in music!

We came to Bluegrass Tavern as part of a private bourbon tasting during a wedding weekend. From the moment we walked in Sean made us feel welcome and like regulars. His patience while we wrangled guests together was saintly. The bourbon tasting itself was an experience I’ve talked about over and over. You could see the passion, love, and genuine happiness to be at work that Sean and Mitch had. I was enraptured by every nuanced explanation that went into the presentation of each bourbon. We stayed well beyond our welcome and left feeling like friends. If you ever get a chance to experience Bluegrass Tavern, please do... and tell them their employee of the month Elizabeth sent you. Thank you so much fellas. It was a true treat to spend the afternoon with you!

We absolutely had a great time at the Bluegrass Tavern! One of the best old fashion cocktails I have ever Had!! This is like going to bourbon heaven for a visit Really, hundreds and hundreds of bottles... Do yourself a favor and stop in for a drink especially if you're a bourbon fan

I suggest you don’t go, seriously. That way there is more for me! Ok, no joke the best bourbon and whiskey selection in Kentucky. Ask for Bobby Ray at the bar. He is a master and can guide you through a very deep selection and wide range of fantastic bourbon including some very rare and hard to find ones, too! No food on the menu. Not even a corn nut... however plenty of great restaurants nearby if you get hungry. Simple: worth a trip and worth the price. Just go you won’t regret it.

Massive selection of Bourbon at this bar! Great spot to sample a variety of whiskeys if you’re only in town for a short time. They’ve got something for everyone’s taste buds and a helpful, friendly staff to assist if you need it.

Excellent service. Best selection of bourbon around. Bartenders are very knowledgeable and helpful with finding you a good/new bourbon. When there is live music it is always good and appropriate sound levels for carrying on conversation.

Amazing bourbon selection! Glad I came early and got to chat with the bartender a bit. Wish I had come prepared with questions, because he really knew his stuff - and custom-made me a Manhattan in the process.

The bourbon is plentiful. It has become more of a college bar then for adults to hang out and have a good pour of bourbon. They took all the bar stools away except for a couple where the people that work there tend to congregate they need to go back to their old model of appealing to the mature generation and those that actually like bourbon

Amazing selection, staff new about all the bottles even the ones with some history to them! Went on a Thursday night and I think it might of been college night so different kinda vibe but I understand you have to make money, I'm assuming during tourist weekends it's not like that. Had fun, tried a lot of amazing pours!

We had a great time having a bourbon tasting. Lots of great information and backstory. Lots of bourbon to sample. Booker's was good but really enjoyed Weller wheated special reserve. I highly recommend checking this place out and asking for a custom bourbon tasting.

We visited in the summer time and it was pretty empty. It’s close to Rupp Arena and they have a good selection. I give it 4 stars just due to the rat problem that’s going on outside in the seating area.

Great bar, great atmosphere, ok drinks. Their chalkboard menu was a little skewed so we ended up ordering the wrong beer. One bartender made an absolutely delicious Gin Mule and the other made an awful one. I really enjoy this place but it can be a hit or miss.

Bartender was a bit pretentious, but that's to be expected at a bar that prides itself on a single drink. Great selection of bourbon, although 90 percent of it is well over 12 dollars a shot. Their nasty and cheap liquor will run around 8 dollars a shot.

Good place to get a taste of that hard to find bourbon you’ve been wanting. Too bad the bartenders are constantly condescending and sarcastic. The price of a glass seems to be whatever they think at the time and not subject to a price list. Could be really awesome but the attitude of the bartenders is holding this place back.

Excited to go, even more excited to leave!! There is no doubt their selection of bourbon is amazing. That being said, why would anyone spend $100+ for a single pour in a bar where you can’t hear yourself think? The music was so loud I couldn’t hear the person sitting next to me. I would loved to sit try various bourbons, but not there... sorry...

Great selection. However, prices were extremely high, and somehow negotiable on higher end bourbons. They had a few things out on display with the normal selection that was not opened yet, and they refused to open or sell. If that is the case, I suggest putting in a different display section, and do not advertise it for sale. They were busy, but the staff was pretty rude to my party when we were there. We left here after having a couple drinks and went to Parlay across the street and had a much better (and cheaper priced Bourbons) experience.

Bartenders here have too much pride in their collection, so much pride that they apparently aren't interested in selling it. Spotted a bottle I've been looking for and asked for a price. Was told the bottle wasn't open and wouldn't be, but assured me it was great because he had it at another bar. Asked about another bottle and was told it was $50 a shot. I can buy the bottle for $200 today. Pretty certain they are making up the prices, as they have no list of bourbon or prices. Have to identify the bottle yourself and wait 20 minutes to get a bartender to notice you to ask the price. Glad I didn't spend a dime there. A buddy did buy 3 shots and then we found those shots in bigger pours for much cheaper. Skip this place and go to Parlay Social. They had all the bourbons we were looking for, night and day difference in staff attitude and much more value for the dollar.
