We were shocked to find this gem in Bastrop! We were craving good Italian food, but didn't have high hopes for the area. With four friends, we each ordered a different dish. My potato soup that came with my entree was vegetarian, and delicious! We were all surprised! We ordered toward the end of the day, so our pasta dishes had slightly thicker sauces. My eggplant Parmesan was awesome! I was super surprised, as it's actually cooked in the dish and doesn't have the bad soggy texture of many places, but I trusted the server's recommendation! My friends all liked their dishes also! This restaurant has meat based sauces, but they offer vegetarian sauces. The garlic rolls were light on the garlic, but the bread tasted fresh and had a great texture. We were all happy with the service and food!
They are the best! They are always welcoming and very nice. I know the owners and theirs mom for many years. (Great family) They always treat me like family and make me feel special! I recommend this place 100% Great food, very clean, great staff!
I would rate this as our best restaurant in Town. We average at least 26 visit a year. Of all the places we frequent the value and quality can't be beat. The Lobster Raviolis are great and they give you large portions when you Dine -In. We always seem to bring half home for later if we don't order carry out.
It was good. Very Traditional italian food i wasnt expecting it. Good but not what I was used too my fault. But service was great and if you want Traditional italian there is not a place like it anywhere near.
I was originally headed to another restaurant but it was closing up and thank goodness it did because I wouldn't have happened upon this amazing restaurant. This was my first time here and if I could rate it a 6 out of 5 I would! The main words here are FRESH and QUALITY. I started with the Fried Mozzarella sticks and you could tell they were not pulled from a box. I eat them every time I try an Italian restaurant because that's a good indicator of how the food is going to be. They were lightly breaded and perfectly cooked. The marinara they come with had a pinkish hue, not the same deep red kind you get from SYSCO, so I knew it was homemade and it did not disappoint. We ordered the Lasagna and Chicken Parmesan, another basic staple to compare restaurants. Both had a great amount of cheese without swimming in oil. The chicken was lightly breaded and tender. Both used the same amazing marinara. When I was eating I felt like I was eating clean, meaning no extra additives to make it taste better, it already tasted fantastic. The entrees came with soup or salad, we got the tossed salad. These salads were GREEEEN...in December, I tried to find a brown or white piece but nope, all prime lettuce. The salad dressings tasted homemade as well. I really couldn't eat it all but I HAD to have a piece of Tiramasu...no surprise it was soooo good! The ambiance, decor and level of cleanliness is right in line with the quality of the food. Now my server, Danielle, she was super attentive without being overbearing always anticipating my needs. When she brought my iced tea she brought a lemon and a spoon, it's a little thing but you don't know how often I go out and I get just the glass and have to wait until the meal comes before the server comes back so I can even ask for it. When I was leaving I asked for the manager and out from the kitchen comes one of the family of this family owned business. He said that they make sure the kitchen is putting out high quality food all the time because they stay in the kitchen, and it shows. The price point is very competitive and the quantities are huge. I'm so glad that other restaurant was shutting down for the day because I wouldn't have discovered my FAVORITE ITALIAN RESTAURANT. Do yourself a favor and go here sooner rather than later!
My Family and are here on Friday November 28th for my Dad's Birthday dinner and it was absolutely amazing! Food was delicious, waitress was amazing and the atmosphere was inviting. We will definitely dine here again.
Wow wow wow! Hands down the best Italian restaurant we've ever eaten in! The food the service and the price are out of this world! The garlic herb bread and the dipping sauce or just amazing. We can't wait to come by there and eat again!
At first appearance this place is very unassuming. It is tucked away in an aging shopping strip just off of the main thoroughfare, HWY 71 in Bastrop, Texas. My wife had a soup and a salad. The soup was a creamy Minestrone, hot and very flavorful. The salad was a little disappointing to her as it was just a bed of iceberg with a garnish of a cucumber slice, a tomato slice and a few croutons. My daughter ordered the Chicken Piccata, she said it was amazing as always. She is local to Bastrop and eats there often. I had the Tortellini Michelangelo. I must say I was surprised. Part of my job as the manager of a luxury destination Wagyu Cattle ranch is to cook for guest. I would put my lasagna up against anyone so I am usually skeptical of any restaurant I visit. This tortellini dish was fantastic. The boys all had spaghetti. At the end of dinner their dishes were empty. You have to try this place.
I had a so called friend who advised me to never eat here. My wife and I tried after hearing many positive reviews about their pizza. We went for lunch and split a personal pizza. The atmosphere right off the bat was Italian inspired, our waitress was one of the best I’ve had in years, and finally the pizza was phenomenal! The free bread was also delicious. I highly recommend Bassano Del Grappa for fresh local Italian.
Absolutely one of my top favorite places to eat! I will literally drive the distance for the food here! Absolutely true authentic Italian flavors and food here! The portion sizes is more than enough for two people me and my wife can share a plate and still have more than enough left to take home. Want Alfredo sauce on the side? Do it! Never had Alfredo like we have here. The customer service is one of the best in the industry and never have such a long wait on your food. It always comes out hot and fresh! Our favorite dish here is the tortellini Michelangelo with Alfredo sauce on the side and we always do the soup loaded potatoe instead of the salads! I will always brag about this place I have tried so many other places in my life between the food, the atmosphere, the customer service, and the freshness of the food and the authenticity of the food I can’t ever say I have had better. Thank you guys for always making it a great experience here! Keep up the good work!
First time here on 6/12/25. We had lunch specials. My wife had the lasagna with salad and I opted for the spaghetti with meatballs along with the soup of the day. This restaurant is located just north of 21/71 in Bastrop, at Loop 150. Easy access and plenty of parking. Nice clean spacious dining area. Meals came with basket of bread. Very reasonable pricing and generous portions. We will definitely be back to sample some of their other dishes.
WOW seriously WOW!!! So the minestrone was on point very good.heavy tomato which I love!!! The chicken alfredo was perfect and the salad was nice. Mostly i was wanting the minestrone but got a surprise with the bread knots. I do wish the knots had a garlic butter or something to flavor them but they were still really delicious and SOFT! Customer service on point, quick and lovely to talk to. She was super friendly and they had my food ready in about 15min!! So well worth it!
Margret was so welcoming! Our waitress was Machelle and she took extremely good care of us. The chicken was a little tough and under seasoned but with the aside it was delicious. The cheesesteak was great and Alfredo!
Great atmosphere and service. I would recommend to improve some meals. For example, grilled chicken (the add-on to salad or pasta) is pretty dry because they cut it in half horizontally first and then grill. Do not slice it, just do half of the chicken breast so it stays juicy . The calamari didn’t have much taste and weren’t crispy at all. Overall not a bad experience, just need some improvement at the kitchen.
Calamari is solid and some of the thickest squid I've had as calamari. Nicely done. Garlic Bread Knots are really lacking any flavor. Nice soft and doughy, but need more seasoning and butter. Make them Crack like. Lasagna is quite different than any lasagna I've ever had. Its very very thin in thickness and light sauce and seasoning. Its not bad but lacking flavor and depth to me. Lasagna out to be like Sunday dinner heavy. Pizza... meh. Says NY style but having experienced NY pizza like John's or Joe and Pats in NYC this pizza is more a Midwestern thicker crust. Sauce is decent. Sausage is not my style its the dog kibble type vs nice hand pulled house ground bulk sausage.
I was headed towards Double Dave Pizza but found this place instead and I always try to support local. It is a really down-home feeling kind of place. The free garlic rolls are some of the best I’ve ever had. And another plus is they have free real butter to use! The cheese sticks were incredibly stretchy and the kids loved them. My side salad was really fresh but the creamy Italian was too sweet. My spaghetti and meatballs was average. The meatballs were tender but not a lot of flavor. The sauce was ok - I didn’t quite like the after taste (strong herbal smell). I would definitely come back to try something different. The servers was so friendly and I loved the local vibe.
Unexpectedly nice Italian food in a small town. We were returning from our camping trip and needed a good fix of pizza and pasta and the place did not disappoint. The best thing was the Minestrone. We also ordered the house special vodka ravioli and it was yum. Expected a bigger portion size for that price. The place had nice music and atmosphere.
They start you out with soft buttered bread rolls. As an appetizer, we recommend the sausage plate. Slices of Italian sausage in a marinara sauce. Hint: Save your bread rolls to use with the sausage and sauce. Pretty good! Salads are very fresh with a variety of dressings. Large enough to be a meal in themselves. Pasta dishes are good. They only serve 10" personal pizzas if you dine in. NY style with thinner crust and lots of cheese. If you order to go you can get larger sizes. The pizzas are average in seasoning and ingredients. Sorry but not really rememberable. Recommend the pasta dishes over pizza. Service is quick and friendly. Music is not too loud and sometimes it is Italian. Nicely decorated. Casual place. Overall nice place.
It doesn't look like much from the outside, and honestly doesn't look like much from there inside, but the food is solid. I tried the chicken and shrimp Alfredo and loved the sauce; it was rich and creamy without being overly greasy or oily. The shrimp were huge and the chicken breast very tender. The complimentary Italian bread was great, too, soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. I also got a taste of the veal parmigiana and it was good, too. It was very tender with a light, crispy crust. The menu says entrees are served with a salad but you can also get soup. If the soup of the day (creamy potato) I had is anything to go by, the soups are work getting if you're not into rabbit food. It was excellent. Overall, definitely one of those "don't judge a book by its cover" type places and worth a shot if you're in the area and looking for unpretentious, unfussy Italian.
This is the first Italian restaurant we have eaten at and the food was tasteless. We got the spaghetti, spaghetti with meatballs, lasagna and seafood special Alfredo. There was nothing good about the food. It was just bland tasteless food. All the sauces taste like they came from a jar at the store. We came, we ate and we will not go back. Most people go to Italian places to taste the flavor you don't know how to recreate at home. They have no flavor.
The food was pretty good but unfortunately was overshadowed by other issues. Our waitress was unfriendly and seemed annoyed to serve us. She offered bread and asked if we wanted marinara, Alfredo, or olive oil/vinegar. I said Marina and Alfredo, assuming it was included with the bread as that was how it was presented. We got our bill and were charged $6 for the Alfredo and $2 for the marinara. We were also charged for a $9 kids meal we did not order or receive, and she was fighting back when asked to remove it. No kids pizza option, a pizza with 3 toppings was $20. Eggplant parm was good, does not come with pasta like most places. The side of veggies were tasty. We also sat at a round table right in front of the fireplace, which felt super awkward. Forgot to add- Knife was super dirty with food stuck on it.
