Heyma is one of my favorite coffee houses. I love the Aden black tea with honey. They have a very nice and respectful staff. The middle eastern music and decor make me feel like I am far away…
Heyma is one of my favorite coffee spots. It’s clean, and a great spot to hangout with friends. The tea is delicious and smell is delightful. It’s truly an experience. I also love their honey comb bread drizzle with honey.
This place deserves way more hype, because it is amazing. I ran here, and not only was the sight of fun, unique flavour creations of coffee and matcha enough to make me drool, the Arabian ambience and music transported me to my family’s in Jordan, what with the familiar cushions and elaborate wall art. I ordered their iced pistachio latte, and genuinely my jaw dropped when I took the first sip, because I wasn’t expecting it to taste that good. They use a very high quality spread that tastes like the nut itself, and adds a sweetness to the drink that does not overpower the coffee at all. It’s perfect. I noticed a lot of coffee use pistachio syrup for a pistachio flavoured drink, which I personally despise. But Heyma use a spread that really enhances the coffee. Going here is an experience, transporting you to a different place and culture. As a Middle Eastern girl myself, it is officially one of my favourite coffee shops in the world.
What a wonderful place, the decor is beautiful. If I lived anywhere near this place it would be one of my favorite places to go. Very elegant. They have special teas and prep station to make it. Had the Heyma latte which was delicious and different, the coffee is good. Had a slice of pistachio milk cake which I can best describe as a pistachio tres leches cake. It was delicious, I'm sure the other flavors are just as good. They have many different items, I think little cards with a name and description would be really helpful and would help things sell themselves.
fantastic, locally owned, sweet family business. stays open late, friendly for laptop users - work or study. Great fresh food, delicious coffee and teas. eat everything. then go back and do it again. you'll be so happy. Great vegetarian options. update: Just tried the honeycomb. It's so good. Definitely try the honeycomb.
Favorite Yemeni coffee spot in Bay Area. I order the Aden tea which has a kettle size. Tastes amazing and I recommend the honeycomb pastry which they warm up for you. The atmosphere and music is perfect for studying and also makes a great spot to hangout over tea/coffee. students and locals are always there reading and doing work so it makes for a productive but relaxed environment. Service is quick as well!
An absolutely wonderful experience. Their atmosphere is just so relaxing and calm. The drinks and foods are delicious as well. The Aden tea was my absolute favorite. While I was in town I went there everyday. I wish there was something like this where I live.
I’m honestly surprised it’s taken me this long to write a review for Heyma Coffee. I’ve been buying their bulk beans for about a year now, and I’ve become a huge fan of their Yemeni coffee. The tradition of including cardamom in the brew is something truly special—not only does it enhance the flavor with a subtle aromatic warmth, but it’s also incredibly anti-inflammatory. If you’re someone who occasionally experiences nausea from coffee, you’ll be amazed at how Heyma’s approach completely alleviates that. The staff are consistently kind, welcoming, and professional. The space itself is always clean, calming, and thoughtfully designed. It’s not just a place to grab a cup of coffee; it’s a genuinely warm and intentional experience rooted in culture and tradition. Hands down, this is my favorite coffeehouse in California so far. Highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates high-quality beans, health-conscious brewing, and outstanding service.
Great Yemeni café right on University. Delicious mocha latte and milk cakes! Service was good and drinks made quickly. Bathroom could have been a bit cleaner, but wasn't terrible. Plenty of seating, from large tables for groups to smaller tables by the pick-up area. Open early to late with delicious drinks and dessert? Yes please! Definitely recommend a stop by!

Wonderful coffee spot with great atmosphere! I recently visited Heyma Coffee House and had a fantastic experience. The coffee was excellent - rich, smooth, and clearly made with quality beans. The baristas were friendly and knowledgeable, taking the time to make perfect recommendations. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great place to relax, catch up with friends, or get some work done. I also appreciated how clean and well-maintained everything was. The menu has great variety, and the prices are reasonable for the quality you’re getting. I’ll definitely be coming back and would highly recommend Heyma Coffee House to anyone looking for a great local coffee spot! Looking forward to another visit!
I like this spot a lot, they are open late, plenty of space, lots of fancy beverage options and traditional pastries like milk cake and baklava. I usually order a pastry because they are so hard to resist but I do try to cut down on my animal product intake so maybe having a vegan baklava as an option would be nice as I’ve seen some other places where that’s available.
Great place to spend time with family and friends. The aroma was warm and inviting the moment we walked in. They were able to comfortably accommodate our big family and still provide excellent service, even during busy hours. The employees were incredibly sweet, respectful, and attentive, which made us feel truly welcome. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we would definitely come back again.
Wow! The Heyma latte is my absolute favorite coffee in Berkeley. The staff is great, patiently answered all my questions. Super space, lots of seating, some folks typing, some chatting, but everyone enjoying delicious coffees and wonderful pastries.
I regularly come here when I am in the area doing laundry. I am very happy with the drinks the sell here. My favorite is the Mufawar but they often have a new smoothie or something like that and they are usually pretty good.
One of my go-to places to work! The seating and outlets are reliable especially if you come earlier in the day. Love ordering their Heyma latte with non-dairy milk and atmosphere inside. Staff is always friendly.
This place is a sanctuary. I’m not Yemeni, but the Aden tea is a direct dose of magical beautiful nostalgia that takes me back to my auntie’s famous chai. The place is beautiful and clean. Perfect for studying or relaxed conversation with friends. Food? Incredible. 6/5 stars.

Beautiful spot. I work in the area, and whenever I stop by, I order the Adani tea — it’s always on point, fresh, and full of flavor. The service is consistently great, and the mamoul is delicious.
Absolutely wonderful milk cake, and they're great at accentuating flavors. I've never been able to taste rose so clearly in anything I've gotten anywhere else.

Beautiful space with incredible coffee. The Heyma latte and pistachio latte are top tier. The vibe is relaxed and comfortable and prices are super affordable. Their pastry and flat bread selection will make you drool! And must try !

Turkish coffee had it before and it was smooth with foam on top. This one was ok but did the trick and woke me up. The orange coconut cake was delicious. The Yemen tea my wife ordered was perfect.
The coffee, pastry, samosa, and baklava were all excellent. However, I noticed an artificial fragrance in the chicken pie. I recommend using fragrance-free products in your dishes and asking employees to avoid wearing perfume when preparing pastries. The food was delicious, but the scent was distracting, which was unfortunate.

I like a lot of things about this place, including the comfortable seating, delicious coffee and tea, and decent pastries. I was hoping to make this my new go-to study spot, but there are a couple of things that make me hesitate. First of all, the wifi never works. Secondly, the staff can be quite standoffish and they always have earbuds in which I don't think is very good customer service. But the most frustrating thing to me is the strange pricing. They charge $6.99 for a latte, fine, but then the tax is $1 and so it comes out to $7.99. The tax in Berkeley should be 10.25% which would make a latte $7.70. So why are they rounding up the price? This is sketchy to me and I wish they were more transparent about the taxes and fees they are charging.
We visited this place on Sunday August 31. I ordered hot tea. My husband ordered ice coffee and pastries I did not like that they only serve drinks in to go cups because I try to avoid microplastics, but I had my own to go cup. When I was ordering I told them I would bring my own cup from the car, but they still made it in a regular plastic cup. When I came back with my cup they suggested just pouring the tea from their cup into mine. Of course I refused and they remade the drinks, but that moment was unpleasant for me. The music inside was very loud and the bathrooms were very dirty. I saw the owner’s comment saying the bathrooms are cleaned regularly, but during the several hours we spent there no one cleaned them. Their prices are like in good quality coffee shops, but the standards of cleanliness and quality are not the same. The staff is very friendly and that is a big plus. As well, I think the menu should include Half and Half because we are in America and that is something you find everywhere. Unfortunately we will not be coming back.
